View Full Version : Are forums such as SW really informative or is it merely just a gossip site?

Honestly I feel like SW is losing its value as a "resource" to me, and is slowly becoming more of a text-based soap opera. When I first came here several years ago, I was a baby stripper and very inexperienced. Back then the site was so helpful. At this point I'm going to be honest and say that SW is entertainment and yes, gossip.

I've never been interested in escorting or being a real sugar baby, and I'm sure lots of value is in those two areas, but it doesn't apply to me.

Should I become a dancer again I feel like it will once again become relevant. But as a cam girl, no. Every other thread completely implodes and it's like a train wreck. Then it's like the same newbie camming questions get asked over and over again. Then on website reports, shitty site owners come in and try to defend their crappy sites and recruit more models. I'm sorry but I don't really see how threads about Agent99's antics (while very entertaining) help anybody learn to do a damn thing.

Furthermore, girls read about how awful sites are, go sign up for them anyway, then come back and whine about their horrid experiences. So many threads about "should I tell my mom/boyfriend" blah blah blah... interesting, but not helpful to me personally.

I've made a few friends off of here that I share/trade tips with and site info and I'm super grateful for that, but beyond those select partnerships where true value is generated, SW has become useless in terms of me "learning".

I think this is due to a major shift in what ''used to be'' into what is has ''become''!
I'm from the Pamela Anderson/Carmen Electra/Jenny McCarthy and Jenna Jameson era of making the MOST of my income and ALL these Rich Bitches are ''retired'' and never have to work again. Whereas today many young girls just seem to settle for nickles and dimes. Another shift that I am noticing in many young girls is just overall pure laziness and ''instant'' gratification. Business doesn't work that way nor does life in general. Anything worth having is worth working hard for. It's so much easier for young girls of today to complain instead of just working harder. This even goes for many stripclubs today! This little bratty Britney Spears era of chicks can be just downright dumb without any disregard for a creating a plan for stabilized, long term, residual income. Even with porn. I would never be interested in being a hardcore pornstar without the Jenna Jameson business platform of having sex on cam to retire early. When today, any chick will just fuck a guy on film for an instant payout and a ''slim-to-none'' chance at stardom.

Wow! Not sure why you're being so defensive and find it necessary to use profanity and insulting language just to get your point across.

The only thing we've established here is that you're unprofessional and your behavior is classless and unnecessary. I didn't swear at you, nor have I sworn at anyone on SW.

I responded to your post in an appropriate manner and stated my intial opinion on your demeanor and you've proven me correct. Your tone is aggressive and the frivolous banter is not supportive in the least bit.

I don't appreciate the ignorance and I will not tolerate the verbal abuse.

:thanx:

Bitch! You are on a forum that states ''Stripperweb'' and you want to come at me about my bullshit use of profanity! Bitch! Get a life and a savings account while you are at it! Verbal abuse and ignorance comes with this industry and how I talk isn't shit compared to what you would experience as a successful online webcam model. It comes with the territory so don't come at me with that ''Wow'' crap as if what I'm saying is so shocking. You're a camwhore! You should be used to it and if you don't like it, then just do like many other girls and QUIT! ;) I never asked you for your personal opinion of me which proves you pay way too much attention to me and stalk my posts cause I don't even post on SW that much so suck my dick you jealous whore.

It sucks when someone comes in and ruins a decent thread. Everyone else who posted on here was able to respond with what they've learned. So let's keep it going. This thread is too good to end up locked.....

I have never seen so much drama since other work section started becoming active.... some of you girls in this section are so ridiculously catty. It's all, Who's better than who, oh no you di'nt, cunt this, bitch that, BULLSHIT!
SW is suppose to be a place of support and advice to sex workers. Some of you have turned it into a bitch fest. Ridiculous..

I learned how to take it in the ass. (I popped my anal cherry almost a year ago thanks to a thread on here) }:D
I learned about the differences of saline vs. silicone and what is the best choice for me.
I learned to stop being a jealous insecure little cunt and to trust my boyfriend thanks to an awesome friend who is married to a piece of eyecandy male stripper. :D
(I'm not perfect, I still occasionally get jealous but I no longer send threatening messages via facebook)
I have made some really awesome IRL friends that I miss alot :(
SW has been with me since I moved to Missouri, back to Albuquerque, New Orleans, Tampa, North Dakota and PA.
Without you guys I'd probably go insane. I love you.

And the drama is getting boring..even I'm tired of it. Fat, skinny, "curvy" black, white, cammer, escort, stripper, fakie, real, swinger, gay, straight, poly-amorous, male, female, transgendered (where is nikki chan btw?) I think that the bitchfest has gone wayyyyyy into overdrive. I just realized today that I don't give a fuck about other bitches, at the end of the day I can only control my money and my hustle.

(I'm still hitting the gym cuz I'm gonna proposition Desu if we both make the under 100 club she needs to come over and fuck us }:D)

And c'mon you know when I think that it's been too much drama you know it really is!
Just like when I am offended by a messy room you know it's messy

....Occasionally someone may post a thread to talk shit about other models or just to start trouble and thats where the bullshit begins...like it's gonna happen on here...people will begin to argue, if they haven't already.

And then I will wonder for about 1 second why I posted on such frivolous bulshit and won't care anymore after that.

The only useful things I've learned have been from blues, really.
Everything else is advice that doesn't apply to me or is mostly advice I disagree with. Idk, there's some interesting stuff I've learned about plastic surgery.

Mostly what I've learned is that girls on the internet treat their fellow sex workers WORSE than they complain that customers treat them.

Things I learned on SW, by the beautiful Contessa.
I originally lurked SW when I was 14, after I danced naked on a coffee table for 100$ and needed some...I dunno. Kindness. I was too afraid to post, and I did not find it

Now I'm back on, and here's my list:
1)How to audition. There are some fabulous audition threads in the newbie section.
2) Thanks to an incredibly violent post from Tempest (kisses!) I learned NOT to try and strip behind my sweethearts back. I was honest with him, and we're still together because of it.
3) I was introduced to pole tips, dancing videos, and lots of "what not to do" threads.
4) Then I decided to get into camming, and SW was a HUGE resource. I got on daily pay, learned peak hours, and listened to the advice (though ultimately, my cam show is incredibly unique)
5) I got interested in the SugarBowl, and made a stunning living off of it last summer.
6) I've learned about escorting, and can't wait to go for it when I decide it's time.
7) I learned the importance of exploiting fetish in the online sex community. Fetish=$$$$$
8) I learned that it was absolutely A-O-fucking-K for me to love sex, to be sexual, to love the adult industries, to want to be a part of them-- and yet still be one class act and hold my chin up high.
9) I learned to LOVE my body through the encouragement of the ladies on this forum. Not that I didn't, but now I love it more.
10) I learned that it's OK to stick up for yourself, no matter who you're talking to.
11) I solidified the opinion that I think fat chicks shouldn't be strippers.

And most importantly

12) I have been and continue to be inspired by the strong, well written women of this forum. This has translated to my every day life, and damnit... I LIKE it.

And I got fucked up the bum too after reading the threads on here!!!

I find SW to be very informative. I learned plenty about what strippers have to deal with on the job. Baby sitting customers at the ATM is what gets me the most.
I like how guys can post in some sections of the site and not others. It seems appropriate.
I'd say the site leans towards the gossip side of things but still serves a good function.

What have YOU learned from SW? Or are you one of the ones that think you know everything? I'm just trying to get a summary of what's being taught around here lately? Enlightened me!

why did u even start this? makes no sense.
it is a Forum, with questions and answers.
thats all

post sounded to me like u just wanted attention and this " Or are you one of the ones that think you know everything?" is talking down to people.
like whos gonna reply to u with " yea, I know everything" DUH!!!::)

I saw the drama in this thread.. omg.

If u can not think of ways to stop an argument or at least reply in a civilized manner, you are not better then the one who started it in the first place.

Some cam models should think twice before embarrassing themselves.
just because they make more $, have more twitter followers and rank top whatever, does not make them a better person, nor does it give them the right to disrespect others with their posts.
showing true colors is one post away...
what a shame.

Shit happens.

The funny thing about it is...when you are in a room on cam and something happens like this - the guys get on the other guys and anyone else that bother the GIRL ON CAM.

It's hilarious how they protect the cam girl.

*Sigh* I'm an abrasive person with my honesty. Sometimes I get outta hand but - I'm opinionated and I'll apologize if need be - but it won't change me but the difference is - I am woman enough to sit back, criticize and apologize :)

Hi all:)
I guess I'm one of the 'lurkers' here, as I've been reading the 'other work' (and now 'camming connection') forum for several months, yet have never posted. The reason why is directly related to the OP question, in that as someone relatively new to the 'adult' industry, I feel sw has given me much more (at this point in time) than I've had to contribute. Here, I learned how to most efficiently send custom videos, how to self-promote, how to quickly distinguish between REAL subs/slaves and wannabes who want to talk endlessly without spending a dime, and perhaps most importantly for me, how to get my ass off of the evil (imho) webcams.com, to the indy sites where I earn money for ME and get treated like a human being as well:)
Yes, sw has it's share of drama, but no more so than the academic realm that I inhabit in my 'vanilla' life. I love the passion and warmth and humour that's interspersed throughout each thread, and more than anything I ADORE how so many of you are supportive and kind to each other, even when advice is tinged with the harshness of reality.
I find too often in life women treat each other like competition to the death in some zero-sum game, so to come here and read the positivity that imbues so many of your posts is a comforting break in a day where there is so much to do, and so many irritating men to deal with (got mad love for the good ones though).
To sum it up, I think the answer is both, informative AND dramatic, but I posit that neither could exist without the other.
Thank you ladies xox

A. I'm a guy
B. I knew almost nothing about the SC biz before I joined here.

I appreciate everything that's written because it's enlightened me one-thousand fold. Though some of the girls would, I guess, not want to 'demystify' the stipping career to their customers. For me, everything that's been written about anything going on in a SC, good or bad, has only helped me to appreciate what the SC experience and the ones who work in them (and attend) are all about.

I've found nothing else on the web as informative as this place.

SW has been very helpful for me but that is mostly through searches. I find that the more helpful posters don't post as often in SG and HH, or those that do are disconnected from the reality of clubs now. For camming, I absolutely love how active the CC forum is and how in depth the posts are, but unfortunately that section is cluttered with posts that aren't related to camming and it's very hard to do searches, because you can't search for "MFC," "SM," "AW," and other extremely important search terms. So another newbie creates a thread asking what "MFC" means and how much is a token worth, and helpful threads are push further down. I also feel like the posters here are cattier to each other. I could not believe the shit people wrote in this thread... I was just amazed at how rude some of you guys are.

I think that separating camming from OW was a great step and I think what would help keep SW's helpfulness at it's maximum is to divide the section into subsections with stickies. If one of you good Samaritans would like to write "a beginner's guide to MFC" "SM" and others, that would get rid of a significant amount of repeat threads and people could read and contribute to the "golden" MFC thread instead of reading through 1000s and sorting past the cattiness...the mods could moderate those stickies better and delete off topic posts. And dividing CC into a section for questions on logistics, tips, and other things directly pertaining to "how can I do my job better" and having a separate section for cam related chatter, like the weekly earnings thread, botching about annoying custies, worshipping agent_99...etc. One of the things that keeps the rest of SW helpful is that people are generally good about posting in appropriate sections.

I'm going to break it down like this because I believe some of you still don't understand that there are newbies AND vets on this board. I consider myself a vet. I have succeeded in camming, topless maid and escorting. I know my stuff when it comes to those topics. I don't think I know everything but I know a lot.

As for starting another thread on MFC, Why? Why is it that newbies have to keep getting spoonfed around here. There are soo many how-tos and guides here for camming written by Miss Ego and other ladies. Some ladies have even linked to these guides in their siggy. When I first started camming, I googled and got to work. I researched camming one day and in two days I was a camgirl. It is NOT rocket science. Sometimes I question the education level of some of the ladies that want to get into this industry. I've seen some really really stupid questions being asked. Question that could be easily answered if these ladies did a simple google search that takes less than 2-5 minutes.

Fact of the matter is if you started a thread on MFC. No matter how good it is , newbies that do NOT want to take the time to research. Those that are lazy and won't succeed in this business anyway will ask questions that have been already answered in that thread. It doesn't even matter if you get it stickied.

Like the threads on alertpay, for the LAST time, If you don't want your name to show to your customers, get a business account. I have probably said that 25 times. Who do I blame? The mods? Why aren't there other stickies? I will gladly post more how-tos for camming and escorting If I knew that they would be stickies so the site isn't cluttered up with random bs threads.

Personally, I feel that I can start threads worshipping anyone I want because It's not something I usually do. I started one thread praising Agent99 and some people got butt hurt .. so the hell what? I'm not one of the struggling camgirls here that can barely make $100 a day. In fact, I'm not a camgirl. I'm currently a full time escort and I'm far from struggling. Why do other ladies get upset when one praises another cammodel? that is just bs to me. Why the hell are you so worried about me admiring someone else.

You guys just don't know what you want. if someone is bashing another model, you complain. If someone is praising another cam model you complain. Damn .. I believe some of you are trying to micro moderate the site and .. as you see .. that ain't happening.

Anyways ladies, I get pms here from ladies all the time asking me how to get into escorting. At least 15 pms a week. I have gotten pms from ladies asking me to write their ads and asking me questions that they could have easily found out on their own. For someone like me that pretty much did the research on my own, it's pretty fucking annoying. I DO and will continue to help those that I know have actually done their research and have specific questions for me and not someone who sounds like a dunce and says something like "I've been escorting for a year but I don't know how to screen... help!". No you are not getting help from me because you will be busted soon and it's not a matters of how but when.

That is my 10 cents. It's not being a bitch when you're telling the truth.

TouringGirlfriend

Ooh and separating camming and otherwork did nothing. I mean there are still camming threads here and people that just don't get that this is no longer the camming section and continue to post their cam threads in this section. Again.. annoying.

I am sure that in due time the Camming section will see most of the webcam topics being posted there.

As far as how useful the site can be--it depends on the person using it.

If it is a smart, savvy newcomer wishing to learn more about the stripping (or webcam) business, the site will prove to be immensely useful.

If it is a drama hound coming back again and again with different names, after being banned or embarrassed, there is going to be gossip--or more accurately speaking, drama.

And there are all kinds of in between. Since it is the internet, and passions are often hard to control, a certain amount of drama is inevitable. Though with vigilance it can be controlled.

Stripperweb can also be very handy in networking. I can testify to the truth of this, since after getting shafted out of my head DJ job in a very bizarre (if exciting) club up in Daytona, a DJ I met here on SW told me about a job opening down here in the Keys. There were 200 applicants all told, but due to my experience and my voice, I got hired right away. It was perhaps the best decision I have ever made.

Now please, let's keep the drama and bickering to acceptable levels. Which means knock it off. ;D

Charlie is on business for a short time longer, and I cannot delete or edit posts here. But I can and will point people for further insults and drama. I'm not going to read through the entire thread looking for nastiness, but I don't want to see any more of it.

The search function is your friend.

Even though I have been here as long as I have, I still use the search function to find information Im looking for.

Newbies do not seem to understand how annoying it is to answer their questions when the answers all here in full detail already..many times over in most cases. If someone isnt willing to help themselves, then its hard to justify being of any help at all. Someone who needs thier hand held and walked through every step of the way isnt only not going to move forward, but also going to drag down the person trying to help. Its time wasted on both ends.

This board has a wealth of knowledge. Its all here...

Like the "How to talk to a loser" thread. "How to make him pay me to ignore him" threads, "How to get slaves" threads. It just makes me want to barf! I feel some of these ladies make a mockery out of what hardworking dommes do. It's annoying. I bet the true dommes/ladies that know their shit are reading those threads rolling their eyes. Some of this stuff is art and if you have to ask stupid questions like that then you'll never get it. A lot of the financial domme guys want to talk to someone that knows what they're doing and not someone that read a how-to on stripperweb. They know when they're talking to a fake and they'll even play you at your own game!

So is this site about gossip? I don't think it is. I think there are two types of people here: Those that know what they're doing and those that don't have a clue. I have shared my experiences here because I've been there and done that. There are other ladies here too that share their experiences and I don't think it's bragging like others do. I think it's motivational especially if it's coming from someone I know is legit.

Put in a nutshell: If you do NOT take the time to research what it is you are doing and expect for others to do the research for you, you will fail as a camgirl, escort, dancer, model.. whatever it is in life you want to do. Nothing is free. That is why stripperweb is an invaluable resource. There are threads on here that is pure gold and I've bought ebooks that didn't even have as much information as SW gives us. I like the fact that we're all real working women sharing information and not just some random person giving advice in a field they've never worked in before.

I'm not sure what it is that newbies ask over and over (bc i'm not interested in other work myself).. I'll scope through here out of curiousity. But if you girls feel like newbies ask the same annoying questions over & over, have the mods "pin" the helpful threads up. ;)

As for SW in general. I find it very informative, still til this day. In every section.

I'm here to pick up & give useful info...relax, and bullshit a little for shits a giggles. :)

ETA:
The only thing useless here are the stupid trolls and the exaggerated amount of male guests. I wish some of the sections here were private. We don't need male members looking through here and other parts of the site.

Really though, I think if all the helpful threads were pinned, half the forum would be just pinned threads! Its really not all that much effort to do a search though...I dont see the big deal in using that function, and I dont think theres anything wrong with directing someone to use it.

I had a great day today though so I dont see anything wrong with anything at the moment ;D

Ever try Huffington Post? That site is a trip. I tried it for a while but it's too predictable. Fanning/unfanning:'(. I don't get it. I like that it moves fast but it's childish too. People posting links to songs on youtube everyother post. The sensational headlines/topics are worse than here.
