View Full Version : Apparently I dress like a whore per my bf

@Nikko: You are young and beautiful. If wearing those outfits makes you happy then have at it! When I was in my twenties I wore tube tops and short shorts, etc. Of course, now that I'm in my thirties I have to reel it in, not because I don't have a body, it's just inappropriate. So enjoy it while you can. Your boyfriend was out of line. :)
Regarding Jack's last post with the pictures of girls' dresses: The first girl looks classy because the dress, although short, doesn't show any cleavage.
The rule to dressing classy/sexy is: If you are showing legs, don't show boobs. If you are showing boobs, wear a dress that is loose fitting, or does not show too much leg. The point is to show only one sexy body part at a time to look respectable.
The second picture with the orange dress looks "trashy" IMO because it is super short, skin tight, and also shows cleavage. Doesn't matter how much it costs. It doesn't follow the sexy/classy rule. A dress like that should be worn out at night with impecable make up and hair to look "classy."

See, you dress almost exactly like I do - except a little more belly showing but that's just cuz I hate my abs lol And I see nothing wrong with the way I dress, and neither does my bf. Granted, I wouldn't wear that sort of thing in the winter, but when weather permits, my outfits are skimpy-ish. It's not like your nipples are popping out and you clearly have the body to pull it off, so you don't look like you're trying too hard and end up looking stupid. You may not look "classy-sexy" by traditional standards but you certainly don't look like a whore. There is a middle ground between someone who dresses like this:
file:///C:/Users/Erin/AppData/Local/Temp/moz-screenshot-2.png
file:///C:/Users/Erin/AppData/Local/Temp/moz-screenshot.pngfile:///C:/Users/Erin/AppData/Local/Temp/moz-screenshot-1.pnghttp://images.saksfifthavenue.com/images/products/04/785/2384/0478523846663/0478523846663R_396x528.jpg
and someone who dresses like this:

You may not come off as "high class super lady-like" but you don't look like a streetwalker. You look like a young woman who's comfortable with her body and wants to look good while she can. Your bf should be confident that he's the one you come home to at night and you're not dressing that way to try to attract other guys (although, if his way of showing affection is calling you a whore, then hey, I'm all for trying to attract someone else...)
I met my bf's family for the first time the other day and he asked if I had a dress to wear - I said, yes, of course, you've seen me wear dresses all the time - he said "No, I mean, like, a conservative dress...." ::) So I guess I don't exactly dress conservatively either - at least not by the standards of his super-religious parents. However, he quickly backtracked and said "Whatever, I'm not gonna tell you what to wear. I'm just warning you what their standards are." In that case, I yielded and wore the most conservative dress I had. In that situation, I was trying to impress specific people that I didn't want to have to try to convince of my stunning personality through what they perceived as "trashy" clothes (to them, trash = women wearing shorts). But your bf should already see your personality through your clothing, and anybody who doesn't know you and you don't really care about impressing - who cares? If you feel confident, that's what will come out. And the people who matter should be able to see that.

Just throw a big bag over your shoulder, some big sunglasses and you have about 50% of NYC hot girls/models walking around New York in the summertime. (maybe minus the boots)
again, nothing 'whorish'. The shorts are tiny, but at least it's not a small skirt or anything with underwear showing. you're fine.

My cousin only wears belly tops. Sometimes with pants, but often with shorts/skirt. And they're not really even tops, most of them are just bras with a little fringe or crochet. She has a baby, got married last year but has been with the same guy for 8 years. She has a killer six pack. She will actively flirt with guys at bars, dance with them, make friends, w/e. All while the single childless stripper with fake tits all covered up nurses a drink in the corner! Lol. She is soooo not a whore, I think it's funny. She has to fend them all off and flash her ring with a big smile and wink, while I am just rolling my eyes and giving them the "talk to the hand". So it takes all kinds. Just know that her husband is just so appreciative of all her beauty and who she is. She is really lucky to have found him. I'm sure he could be a little bothered by it, but you really can't see it! I went to an exotic Halloween With them and she wore black latex underwear (painted on) and electrical tape! Him? Full on where the wild things are monster with 2ft diameter paper maiche headpiece! So it's not like they are freaky together, he just accepts that it's her thing :)

[B][I]I wear things like this to the Supermarket ALL the time.....!!
Maybe not the supermarket, but I do wear things like this often. Of course, my lifestyle doesn't include a lot of "down time" where I would dress much differently. When I'm not doing the TSS (Trendy Scene Slut) thing, I'm a shameless hippie.
Pics please. :D I LOVE women that dress like this.
(Okay, I don't want MY GF dressed like this in public, but any other girl - please please please dress like this in public.)

I agree about NYC, having grown up there - but like I said before, how she is perceived by others depends on the local norms and standards - not the norms and standards of NYC, Paris or London.
In Spain (and Greece, I think), women don bikini bottoms and go topless in public beaches. This is not "slutty" - this is the norm. If we're going to adopt any norms and standards we choose, I like that one better.
Judging by my "big-city" standards, I like everything she wears and wouldn't make an issue of it as her BF, but maybe she lives in a smaller, more conservative town.

I can't tell what you're wearing in the second pic but the first one looks a bit cheap. If you wanna go sexy, do it more expensive looking-it looks a little classier. Think Marciano. BTW- you're a cutie ;)

Yeah, that's what it is, I think, as she said her bf is a small town country boyish type.
But you know, not many people know this, but in Manhattan, New York, it's perfectly legal to be topless, whether in the city or on a beach (like Jones Beach, out here in LI). You just can't be like selling anything or 'acting' a certain way. :)

Which is what im used to. Ive lived overseas all around the world and in big cities. Now I am literally in the BOONDOCKS if I were to wear any of the above in a Walmart/Krogers or even mall I look like the the town slut. God I hate it here. Plaid button ups with jeans and pig tails are norm for girls. Or the capris are "flirty cute".... Good lord. If I didnt plan on marrying this guy I'd just rather go back to LA

Except in certain situations (court, funerals, etc) dress how you like...appropriate to the activity. 99% of the time, the less my girl wears, the more "delicious" she is to me and the more ego boost it is to know that at the end of it SHE GETS IN BED WITH ME.
Not that I don't understand him being insecure, but he didn't date a librarian who whipped out the naked seductress....he chose the tigress

Really? - I did not know this, though I have been to designated all-nude beaches in LI (Fire Island, I think). Not as awesome as it sounds, though, many women there would have looked better with clothes on.
I don't recall any women in NYC walking around topless (except for prostitutes showing off the merchandise), but if you spot them, please take pics and share with us. It might convince me to go back. :D

Don't change the way you dress. You're young(so you can get away with it), have the body for it and show it off while you can. I don't find your outfits whore'ish. Just cute and sexy. Although, not for church or court like some here have mentioned. IF it makes you happy, fuck what anyone says.
Men's minds area always in the gutter, no matter wtf you wear anyway. I wouldn't please your BF. He sounds like an insecure prick. He should be proud of his walking eye candy.

Geez Americans can be so prudish.
Yeah, but... We are prudes because we are both obsessed with sex and terrified by it. Our parents went through the sexual liberation, and we have gone through the "hook-up culture" and the "pornification" of America, and we haven't decided whether its all been great or not so great. I was with my son recently at a birthday party for 9-year olds and this song was playing -
Cause I may be bad
But I'm perfectly good at it
Sex in the air
I don't care
I love the smell of it
Sticks and stones
May break my bones
But chains and whips
Excite me
Little 9-year boys and girls running everywhere. Parents were oblivious. No one was fazed by this.
The holloween "dress like a slut day" tradition has spread to pre-teen holloween costumes. Some parents complain about 10-year old girls dressed in mini skirts, fishnets and high heels,... other parents think they are just overreacting.
Teen pregnancy is a problem?... Let's solve that by giving out condoms in the third grade. Here's an idea - distribute them with the halloween candy to the 10-year old girls dressed in mini skirts, fishnets and high heels.
A young women is insecure about her looks - no problem - boys like sex, give the boys sex... Suddenly, she is very popular. Her self-esteem sky-rockets for a while,... then it crashes and burns.
Sexual liberation means everyone is having a lot of sex without any commitment... Sounds wonderful, until you realize you should have been married with kids by now, but none of your male sex partners has expressed any interest in marrying you.
Christian conservatives complain about all the moral decay of sexual licentiousness,... but then they get caught with their pants down,... and in the company of the wrong gender.
Its all just too complicated for us simple American people to get a grip on.

Going by the op's examples I don't think she's dressing slutty at all. A little sexy at times? sure but nothing offensive. I will agree with those who say there is a time and place. Dressing slutty is perfectly fine going to a nightclub but not your kids soccer match for example. As for the idea of strippers shouldn't judge on clothes, why not? I would hope any strippers aren't dressing like one outside the club/party. Outside of the club I rarely dressed slutty at all, though years ago I did have a boyfriend who wanted me to dress like that.
As for the comment that men look good in their 50's but not women, I beg to differ. Most of the attractive people I know past 50 are women. The men I see who are attractive past that age tend to either be playboys or gay. The majority of the men I know in their 50's are homely and fat.

I had to giggle at the 'holloween dress like a slut' part.
It's not just Americans Sweetie - the situation is exactly the same over here too.
Last year my husband and I drove past one of our town's biggest nightclubs at 4.00pm on Valentine's Day afternoon - and the entire area was swarming with pre-pubescent girls dressed like hookers in skimpy tops, tight denim mini-skirts, platform stilettos and bottle blonde hair. They were being dropped off by Armies of Mums in 4x4's - so that they could attend - unaccompanied I must add - the town's Annual UNDER 12's Valentine's Ball......
.....and Parents still wonder why daughters can get stalked by deviants....

But she's not dressing like a stripper outside the club. She's not walking around in a t-back and clear plastic heels. It's perfectly acceptable going out clothing - just a little revealing for some people's tastes. My point was that the clothes were not slutty, they were just "unacceptable" by some standards. But stripping is also considered "unacceptable" even though most girls on here would not consider it so. So I didn't understand why girls who think it's ok for them to do something socially unacceptable were bashing someone else for doing something that is not inappropriate, just also socially unacceptable. She's not flashing her tits and ass, she's just wearing shorts and a strapless top. Not stripper-ish at all.

I hate going out and seeing girls dressed like this it looks like they are so desperate for attention. Whenever me and my bf go out we always make fun of girls dressed like that I'm sure your bf is embarrassed that his g/f dresses like a hooker. I went on a trip to vegas with a friend b4 and she dressed so slutty the entire time the guy she was with did not want to be seen with her. A truly confident and sexy woman does not have to show everything she has its trashy and gives ppl the wrong impression if I were your man I would probabley dump you.

Also, a truly confident woman does not need to make fun of the way other people dress to feel superior ::) Are you one of those self-hating strippers who has to put down the way everyone else dresses and acts so you can feel like you are "the classy stripper" that society should embrace? I went to the beach today and saw women all over this beach town wearing tiny little bikinis.:) If the OP was standing next to them in her "whore" clothes, she would appear ridiculously ultra conservative.
Here is an idea for women that like to show off their sexy bods... move to a beach town (Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Santa Cruz, Cannon Beach, etc.). Unless you actually take your top off, nothing looks "slutty" in a town where, at any given time, half the female population is flaunting their bodies in itty-bitty bikinis.
The upside to this is that no one will bat an eye if you wear "slutty" clothes. The down-side is... that no one will bat an eye if you wear "slutty" clothes.

No I don't think I am superior to anyone but I also know there are different types of ppl in this world and some are better than others. I also know some strippers are classy and others are trash its just a fact if you say you don't agree your full of it bc anyone who has ever worked at a strip club knows the quality of some of those women while others are nice, hardworking women trying to better themselves! Anyways, in my opinion women who parade around half naked when they go out just need everyone to look at them and they would not look if they had on clothes! Ask any man what he would prefer a classy well dressed woman showing just the right amount of skin or a woman showing everything! Hints the gown clubs :D And I don't do my job for attention that for sure honey I do it for one reason and one reason ONLY and that is $$$$$ benjamins' }:D

I didn't say that I thought you do it for attention. But I bet that's what the majority of other people would think of you. They're clearly wrong. So why couldn't a woman wear something just because she's comfortable with it and personally likes the way she looks, not because she's all "look at me! look at me!" trying to get sexual attention? I dress very similarly to the OP - I don't give a crap if anyone looks at me. But that's just it - I feel a body is a body and bodies are natural - and I don't give a shit if people see it, and I feel that if you can't handle seeing cleavage and legs, you have issues. Can we all stop pretending we're fucking puritans and accept that boobs aren't "shameful" body parts and perfectly natural? Personally I'd walk around topless most of the time if it was allowed in my area. It feels better. Nobody calls nudists "slutty, attention whores."
You assume that one would only dress that way for male attention - well, others would assume that you only strip because you have low self-esteem and body issues. If that's not your reason, clearly, you can't judge someone on shit like that. Why can you do something "slutty" without thinking that you should be judged for wanting attention, but someone else is "clearly just trash"? She's not actually flirting with or fucking other guys so I hardly think "trash" is fitting.
And who cares how men judge it and what they prefer? It's my body and my clothes - why should they get the last say? If a man doesn't want to date a girl because he disapproves of the way she dresses, fine, that's his personal choice. He's entitled to his standards, same as guys are entitled to not date girls who are strippers because they don't find it "respectable." But you don't date a girl and then expect her to change - her clothes or her job or anything else. Leave her alone to find someone more secure who's fine with it.
Sure, there are plenty of people in the world I think I'm better than - but I don't judge that based on the way they dress themselves. That's just shallow and sad. Why do you feel the need to make fun of and judge people you don't even know?

To add to Aurora's argument, a short list of my spiritual family's appearances.
J- Looks like a hippie; really a total techno geek.
V- Looks like a geek; really a total hippie.
B- Looks like a dreadhead; is a dreadhead, despite previously being a popular girl in school.
D- Looks like Justin Beiber; actually way hotter, way cooler and way legal.
T- Looks like a thug; was a youth minister and is still the go-to guy for spiritual advice.
I- Depends on whatever I'm doing that day. Usually something "slutty" because it is either practical to my daily activities and/or is comfy. I'm sorry, but shorty shorts are way more comfy than jeans on a hot day. Same goes for the uber thin, semi-sheer dress my brothers have finally given up bitching about.

On another note........
Where did this Rubbish come from? Some attempt at behavioral programming?
Confident people don't need to make fun of people to feel superior.
Load of tripe. Trite bullshit meant to reprogram the thinking of youth that may not question the validity.
A "Truly Confident" another BS metaphysical diaper stuffer.
Napoleon was certainly "truly confident" gave not one fuck for anyone less than himself, waged war so well his style is taught today, and declared himself "Holy
Roman Emperor.
If someone were confident and superior, their circle of friends would not count one person of lesser traits. Alpha.

I would say there's a difference between "confident" and "narcissistic." I was simply going off her own words: "A truly confident and sexy woman does not have to show everything she has" and pointing out that most people who are actually confident, and maybe a better word is "secure" or "comfortable" in themselves don't feel the need to make fun of people based on very superficial things like the way they dress. I would say this is a general consensus - that most people who put down and belittle others are doing so to pump up their own low ego. A person who delusionally declares themselves a "holy emperor" is a little more messed up than a person who just judges people based on looks. I would call that an "overinflated" ego rather than just a healthy ego like I was talking about. Either way, an overinflated ego or a low ego can be the cause of completely unnecessary and unfounded judgment or cruel actions.

I would like to register my surprise that this thread is still active...
And what the fuck is with all these newbies getting mouthy and standoffish and judgmental with established members? Seriously. Not the best first impression...
