I left Italy because the taxes were insane!!! I was losing so much money. Now we live in Spain. Im in a super secluded place surrounded by summer homes so no one is ever home and I have total privacy, a pool, I can shoot porn here and cam all day on a fiber optic connection. When we got lockdown for COVID I barely noticed that life was any different. I just couldnt go to the supermarket or get my hair done.

I lived in Italy a very long time. So long, I picked up regional dialects. There were positives, cost of living was lower in smaller towns, but some of the popular cities were just as expensive as the UK (not counting London). I have never experienced the levels of misogyny I did in Italy anywhere else though; had some really nasty run-ins with guys on repeated occasions. I go back to visit friends, but wouldn't live there again. I sometimes wish I hadn't lived there. but stay *anywhere* long enough, and you will find the bad. I appreciate everyone has a different experience though. There are things I hate about the UK, especially now, and I do think about this sometimes..I love being closer to my parents though and not being "foreign" is nice. Just some random musings!

I met him there! We've been taking turns visiting each other for months on his turf or mines. Obviously for me, because of my job, it's easier for me to go there and with the state of affairs here, I'm more than Ok with that. I subletted my apt to some work from homers and off I go.

Meh, so I found a 'cheaper' studio and the internet here is AWEFUL. I'm ordering a wireless mobile router just in case and I suggest everyone do the same. I purchased a damn near unlimited mobile internet package and still barely have 1 upload ><. Not to mention you can hear someone cough outside your door and a bunch of other mess I don't like. After this week I house sit for a friend and I'm running back to aribnbs/getting a flat/apt ASAP. I can't do cheap anymore, lol. The hotel I was last at had way better net and more room! >< This place is very modern and great for photo ops but dassit. I can't.

I live in Cataluņa about 40mins from Barcelona. With COVID it is crazy. During the first lockdown the police would drive around with loud speakers telling us not to leave our homes or gather in groups. Couple times I had to hide from them while I was out walking my dogs! We must wear masks at all time when we leave our homes and now they have started the stupid lockdown again for reasons that NO ONE can understand. Its actually very scary and history has shown us that many times where this shit ends. I keep thinking about moving now but I dont know where to go! So many places are the same as us now.
Life for me didnt really change because I shoot almost all my own material and work on cam most days so actually it turns out that I have been in quarantine for the last 15 years :D But it does suck cause I do need those odd occasions when I go out like to get my hair done once a month or going to a restaurant (we just got a call on Friday that our reservations to our fav restaurant are cancelled cause all restaurants are closed now). So it has been a blessed life but now even that has been sucking cause of all the government control and stupid new laws! Last time we lockdown I couldnt go out at all because you could only have one person in a car (the driver) and I dont drive so I was in my house for 3 months straight and never went anywhere. Well sort of cause I live on the edge of a forest and I go out every day to walk my dogs there so I got out into the woods once a day but not the same thing as going out where there are people. I miss people. I miss their faces. If I was American I would move back there and live in a state with more freedom like Texas or Florida.
This is not a great time to move to Europe in my opinion. Its starting to feel a bit too 1945ish over here now and there are too many political agendas playing out.

I just wanted to say that Camming in Turkey is a huge no no!! Its very much illegal. My Friend was there to get her BBL done about a month ago and she is a cam model. She couldnt even access her social media from there because they track everything you do online (also they track your phone for COVID purposes) Please do not move there if any type of SW is your profession.

I regularly fantasize about living in Mexico to stretch my dollar and get out of the rat race. I'm learning Spanish just incase I one day take the leap. How do you find the internet speed there? Are some things a lot harder than in the US (getting mail shipments, dealing with professionals like mechanisms, plumbers, bureaucracy type stuff). Also is there an international presence (people moving there from all over) and decent dating scene?

That's where I'm living now! Camming here is no problem, but every apartment has different internet speeds. Some are slow. When necessary I use Telcel phone data for internet. There's a way to get 2 hours unlimited data for about 70c usd. It's not ideal but it works, and the upload speed is fast.
Mexico City is IMO perfectly safe for a single woman as long as you live in a nice area (Condesa, Roma, and Polanco are the popular choices). I would not recommend staying out by yourself late at night, though I've done it a number of times. Condesa feels super peaceful and safe even at 2am, but of course shit can and does happen.
You should know at least a little bit of Spanish, because in my experience you'll only hear English in fancier restaurants, bars, cafes etc. The vast majority of people you'll interact with like grocery cashiers, doormen of your apartment, maids, Uber drivers etc. don't speak English. It can make simple interactions kind of awkward when you aren't able to express yourself or answer a simple question. Luckily my husband is a fluent Spanish speaker so I just have him do the majority of the communication. But it's not too hard to learn the basics... failing that there's also Google translate. People here are VERY friendly and kind so they'll be forgiving lol.
Lastly I'll mention NOISE. Some neighborhoods are extremely loud, either from traffic, or from people blasting music and throwing all-night parties. There seems to be no concept of noise violations here. It can make camming difficult so make sure your street is a quiet one. Thankfully my apartment is very quiet BUT at least five or six times a day I have to literally mute the mic while camming because of that stupid fucking truck (this one: https://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/13/world/what-in-the-world/whos-that-voice-asking-for-scrap-metal-in-mexico-a-10-year-old-girl.html) IT'S SO ANNOYING, GRRRR.
Aside from that CDMX is a great place lol.

Internet speeds are mostly fine, if you are setting up your own choice of internet, it's possible to get high speed packages and/or fiber optic. If you are renting an Airbnb however, it's kind of a toss up whether or not the internet will be fast enough. I mentioned Telcel in the post above; it's how I get around slow internet speeds.
Mail shipments are super fast. I get Amazon.mx packages same day or the day after. Anything sent with FedEx or DHS will arrive promptly but if sent through regular mail it may take a long time or get lost.
Bureaucracy is a nightmare. So is dealing with plumbers, mechanics, etc. Customer service is lacking here, to say the least lol. Professionals are not as punctual or reliable as you're probably used to. This is true for all of Latin America, it's just something you have to get used to.
Where I live in CDMX, there's lots of expats from all over NA and Europe. While walking down the street it's not unusual to overhear conversations in English, German, French, etc. I have no experience with the dating scene but I've heard that it's pretty good! (Or was, anyway, before covid). People here tend to be very friendly and warm and it's super easy to make friends! The stereotype of the cold, mean city person doesn't seem to apply here.
I only have experience with CDMX and Puerto Vallarta area so I can't speak for other locations.

I'll also add: my fully furnished 3 bedroom, 3 bath apartment in CDMX is NOT CHEAP. I mean, I guess it's dirt cheap when compared to apartments in LA or NYC. But it's still quite a lot of $$, I could definitely go cheaper if I wanted/needed to, but meh. Living in the really nice areas costs a premium. I guess what I'm saying is, don't expect everything in Mexico to be super cheap. You can definitely still live bougie AF down here lol.

I live in Spain, but Cataluņa, we have really good internet here in Spain. I have Optic fiber but I dont know about down south. However you can contact Moviestar (just google them) and ask about their internet service out there. They can tell you everything. I have never been to Sicily but I did live in Florence Italy for years and years. Back then the internet was a mess and difficult to set up! I would expect its even worse in Sicily. We only managed to get our set up in Firenze because my husband is Italian and he called in a favor. (I know it sounds like some mafia shit but that is just how Italy works! The movies are based on real life) I have no knowledge of Greece though.

yes this is all correct. for me personally i find mexico to be very expensive when comared to living in most parts of europe.
my rent is around $800 us, food i spend a lot eating really healthy from costco mostly. about $150 a week or more for food only for 2 people.
water electric internet are not that cheap either .
mexico city is def one of my favorite places , i love santa fe and those areas but its like 1,200 to 1,500 a month for a lovely apartment there.
so its a bit more than i want to spend. but if i had to move somewhere else in mexico it would be mexico city. its NOTHING like people tell you it is. its wealthy, upper class, and offers a great lifestyle if you enjoy good shopping, good resturants and that kinda stuff. which i do.

Say this louder for those in the back. This I also apply to living abroad virtually anywhere considered 'cheap'. I swear I pay the same amount in rent everywhere I live which is roughly more expensive than the states. My condo was $925 in 2018. Now I'm paying $1600 for the same in a 'cheap' balkan country and that doesn't include bills. I have to have my comforts so I don't mind paying for the extra expenses. I get triggered if I my surroundings drastically change or looks shabby and it effects my health physically and mentally.

anyone here apply for the spain long stay visa? i tried to ask for the non lucrative and they said they wont accept any income for that visa. i received the email yesterday
seems that "loophole" of using your income to qualify has closed?
my first choice is
#1south of france lived there before without a visa but the visa seems complicated this time, lots of "gate keepers" but internet is great, life is good there. rents not too bad, loved living there. but can be hard to integrate into society. even though i am fluent, people rarely spoke to me. neighbors ect. never had friends there. felt very isolated.
#2 spain was my second choice but seems they wont take income for a visa? i asked them and i received a snotty reply, that "non lucrative " visa means no use of income. anyone gotten a spanish visa with camming "internet marketing" lol. ? fiberoptic on the golden cost is good , rent is cheap. did you use savings?
#3 greece easier visa, athens area glyfada , i am just scared to move there without visiting and basing it on google maps . the rent is also high in that area like $1400 usd. the common areas of apartments and infrastructure of the country seem a bit..well idk. but i am still considering it, anyone live in the athens area? so maybe someone can shed some light for me on the athens scene.
#4 option italy, visa seems easy to get however i was considering Sicilia italy but there is like ZERO fiberoptic, i asked for screen shots from many airbnbs and its terrible.
it wont be an option based on internet. seems based on your ladies feedback internet can be hit or miss there.
i am looking for a long term option with pathway to permanent residency. good medical care. good infrastructure in europe. and not too expensive .
any success with visas with camming income or savings to qualify ?
my passport is USA

I wanted to tell you to add Portugal to your list because it's a fantastic country with decent weather, great food, and people however I did a quick search on Visa requirements and it looks like a difficult process. I'm not an expert but if you're open to a non Mediterranean type country, I hear Germany has a freelancer/self employed visa and from what I've been told the rent isn't too bad in Berlin, a city many expats like to move to.

I ve just checked out German freelancer visa! They have a list of certain occupations for that visa (but its not limited to that list). I don't know if camming is legal there. Is there anyone who has tried it (frelancer visa/freelancer residence permit)? Also it's easier to get for ladies from USA, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Korea, Israel and Japan.

This is sooo my dream! I want to live in europe or anywhere else and cam..but for now since the covid is still around...it's a dream. SOOOOO...i'm getting creative and "camming in a foreign land"...but here in the USA. I'm looking at "foreign lands" such as OMAHA, DES MOINES, SIOUX FALLS, OKLAHOMA CITY, ETC.."...lolol.
I'm done paying 1500-2500 for a small ass studio/1 bedroom out west. I'm so over it. I've looked online and I found a BRAND NEW 1 bed in Des Moines for $899!...That's rent from 1989!
So I'm going to cam in a "foreign land" for the next year as I can and then when covid is over do the real thing. I'm with you ladies!

A
Depending on what you like Greece, athens is AMAZING. Also alot cheaper that your looking for - you can flat share for about 200 a month - or have a one bed /studio for 500/600. Things are SLOW there however - European time haha.
Internet can be super slow too - but I imagine if you are moving you could choose a fast internet provider. It's got Berlin vibes , but heat , great food, 40 mins from the beach and also the whole of Greece to explore.
