^ A lot of other digital nomads are picking cheaper USA cities too ! It can also be a great move !
This is what I did. Moved from WA to NV and my cost of living is down 40%! couldn't be happier, plus the weather is much much nicer.

Depending on what you like Greece, athens is AMAZING. Also alot cheaper that your looking for - you can flat share for about 200 a month - or have a one bed /studio for 500/600. Things are SLOW there however - European time haha.
Internet can be super slow too - but I imagine if you are moving you could choose a fast internet provider. It's got Berlin vibes , but heat , great food, 40 mins from the beach and also the whole of Greece to explore.
thanks for the feedback, have you lived in athens or just visited? i havent been there yet.
would love to here feedback!

I'm actually looking to change my domicile to a tax free state with a waay lower cost of living in the next month or so. It'll be so awesome to not have to deal with state tax burdens anymore!

Why don’t you just get an air in Athens for a month then move onto another part of
The country? You can probably be there three
Months on a tourist visa, and then you can decide.

I love Greece, is my favourite place to go on vacation, except 2020, I go every summer in there. I will suggest Halkidiki (or Macedonia Greek area), since it's my favourite spot, if you want to try something else after Athens.
They have gorgeous, super fine sand beaches, with crystal blue waters, good and cheap food (taverns everywhere with fresh seafood) and I assume rent is also affordable. I mean, I assume that because I booked a 7 nights vacation for mid season (August), at a 4 stars hotel with private beach and breakfast/dinner included for only $1300.
Worth to throw an eye on rentals, maybe you find something interesting. Maybe not quite on Halkidiki, it might be expensive for long term rentals, but the Macedonia area is pretty good on rental prices.

Bumping this thread!
I spent a year in Albania, didn't need a residence permit due to being American. My rent was $250/month for an awesome 1 bedroom apartment on a hill overlooking the capitol city.
It's very much a developing country, but the capitol and the vacation hotspots have areas that are really nice.
I'm SO tempted to return to the Balkans, and am curious what others are thinking about post-covid digital nomad life.
The last place I lived was Belgrade, Serbia, where I opened a business for my online Tarot/life coaching work, and rented a 5 bedroom house in the suburbs for $400/month, with my 2 dogs.
The biggest caveat for the Balkans, IMO, is the bureaucracy and the pollution. But I spent 5 years in Eastern Europe, and it was the best decision ever, for truly getting settled into an online career and having some adventure!

It's great but you gotta hustle to keep up because its expensive. I go every year for 6 months and am addicted. There's always things to do, markets year round. It gets Hella cold if you go in the winter/fall. A lot of days are overcast, rainy or gray but if you like somber but leafy places with crowds, nitelife and cool people, def do London. There's a scene for every one. Brits love American accents so they're keen to hear you speak.

I would KILL to live in London. It has ALWAYS fascinated me. I've been to the UK before and want to live there now. I know it's expensive but it's just the chance to live there and see europe. I just don't know about the whole "camming as an american in the UK" thing. But how would anyone know?? It's not illegal and I pay all my taxes. I'd probably just say "fuk it" and do it and see what happens. I also really want to live in Italy (I'm a food whore!)

My opinion as someone who hasn't had issues doing this If you keep a USA bank account, or get a Europe bank account (the USA will send a W9/W2 form.)pay taxes annd keep records you'll be fine. You work independently for yourself for USA based companies. Considering corperations pay salaries to people who fly on business, most people who vist countries are, working abroad, illegally. Answering emails from Hotel Paris is still billable payroll hours IMHO. Can they prove shit? You were consulting for your LLC business. You work virtually and remotely. No one knows you flashed your butthole instead in a show, lol from your airbnb.
You can also get an expat visa cheap in some places in Europe and anchor like I did. Lots of expats get paid via us which countries prefer so that you spend on their economy. Lots of countries are making digital nomad visa for this purpose. It used to be illegal and still is but the census is that there's traveling for work, or holiday. Just say you're on a holiday and keep work private. Your deposits in your US bank account is passive income/investments. You're just chatting online with people. Super normal, no? No one gotta know.

LOL that's what I was honestly planning on doing if I ever made it over there. Besides I read that they don't want Americans using their services and you have to have some sort of income in order to get back to America so I doubt they would really push the issue.
So London is about as expensive as NYC or nah? If I did take that plunge I would be living extremely cheap. I'm Frugal as it is now ( roommates, very cheap food, don't pay at bars,, etc) Cheapskate haha in some people's eyes but that's okay cuz that means I don't need to work as much as the average person.

Did you just use public transit over there or use ubers KK? Even here in nyc I'm doing on a tight budget minus the misc stuff I buy here & there. There are always ways to live /visit a place without breaking the bank :)

It depends on where you want to live, and how, but it's similar to NYC, Cali, Toronto, Seattle. Any popular major city with millions of inhabits. Thing is, are you a traveler who prefers entire apartments/airbnbs solo, or do you prefer flat/roommates? London will be expensive but cheaper based on how you like to live. So if you don't mind having roommates in a Victorian style flat splitting $2000 vs you living alone and paying that $2000 on your own per month living in a hotel, decent abnb, or house. It also depends on where in London you are. Closer to the center, the more expensive. The further away, the cheaper.
I like SW London which can be NYC/Cali and higher so I try and find a flat or smaller mews house/townhouse between $2-3k a month in a nice area. You can also try and rent directly to locals who will usually be a cheaper if you plan on staying longer. Rented a place in Chelsea for $1k a week and when I left she was doing a 4 month work trip away and offered £1200 which is the average anyway for her neighborhood for 1bd. But you prefer roomies? £700 a month. During Rona I got a nice hotel deal fir $1100 a month but things have gone back up. 1x I paid £1200 for a tiny fugly studio.
Same with eating out, or grocery shopping. If you like Whole Foods, vs Tesco. Or Ubereats getting 1 meal a day, $30-50. Or McDonald's $12. Pub drinks $9. Transportation oyatercard for the buses or tubes like $1.50-3 per trip or more. Vs users or black cabs $10-40. I'm going back in the winter and $2500 for a 1bd a month for the places I like and even more at $5k. If you sign a lease or are a local of course its like 50% of that since its a 1 yr lease.

I use all. Uber, black cabs mainly for my personal travels and the tube if I have to visit a friend further from the center. Yeah lots of free stuff to do in London as well but just budget for NYC because they are similarly priced. I think it was like $4.80 round trip whenever I used the tube. $20 Uber fares on average, and $40 in a cab going from the kensington/Chelsea. And walking is fun too.

Oh I'd def be doing cheap airbnb's if possible (renting a private room in a home/apt) or the roommate route only. It's way cheaper that way & I'd have the same results just more money than I would if I splurged on a whole place to myself. Groceries it would be & rarely eating out there def! I'd prob go for a few weeks to see if I even like it first before trying to camp out over there 6 months.
I've grown so used to living like this the last few years , it rarely phases me anymore.
I'm excited about the hot goth guys with accents LOL

Just arrived in Portugal, but not feeling it one little bit. Have just spent almost a year in Thailand and the prices here are crazy damn expensive in comparison and the Portuguese seem really off-standish and it's much harder to get around here.
I want to head back to Thailand because I can live very comfortably and get a year long visa. Here I will need to leave after 3 months and won't be able to return because they have the stupid 180 day rule, so I can't even do a simple visa run. (Thanks Brexit!)
The thing is, I know Porn is illegal in Thailand, I am a non-nude model and I'm in a niche (it mainly just involves talking). If I block Thailand, use my VPN and keep to that, do you think I will be okay?! It would solve a lot of issues for the first year. My only other alternative is to move back to the UK, but that is one hell of a shit show right now. Can't even rent somewhere furnished very easily and don't feel like I can start my life there without a lot of money already.
Does anyone cam non-nude in Thailand? Would love to hear thoughts.

The legality of live streaming pornography law there is a huge no-no...otherwise I would have moved there long ago. It's cheaper to live there and the climate and geography are great, but what happens if they decide to actively go after someone they see live streaming from within the country? It happened to that one model, however she wasn't streaming alone, I think she had started a studio? iirc, which inherently brings on other complications
For legal, inexpensive, and decent internet most of the way, I've done Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Mexico, the country of Georgia, Spain, the Netherlands, and am considering heading back down to south america since I loved it so much...better weather too!
Have you streamed there? and did you use vpn? or have you been living there using other non-cam income means? I mean, if it is feasible to move there and obtain a 1 year visa, using the cam income, I defo need the whole how - to on that! that's my dream
I saw they had recently updated their digital nomad visa and are now looking at $80k usd/year income to qualify! like, omg, no
and I'm non-nude too. I focus on my voice, however I do have a couple strapons. are those allowed in or would the boys get taken? lol

Haven't streamed there. Was doing some online teaching but the money was crap. I've thought about Mexico but heard it's actually quite expensive to live there. The EU is out for me tbh due to visa issues post Brexit.
I thought that model who got arrested actually came out and said camming wasn't illegal, and her options were non-nude (I read her blog post, but that was a while ago when she wrote it so things may have changed).

Sorry - I realised I didn't answer your questions https://www.stripperweb.com/forum/images/themes/sw4/icons/duh.gif. You can easily get a student (ed visa) for Thailand. This can actually be extended for up to 3 years I think. This is what quite a lot of digital nomads do. Thailand is always coming out with these so-called digital nomads visas, but honestly nobody is interested in them because there are much easier, and cheaper ways to stay in the country. You can also get a volunteer visa for up to a year too. It's such an easy place to get around and travel. I miss the ease of it so bad. Portugal just does not compare in any way, shape or form.
I might actually reach out to a Thai lawyer about this. Find out the situation. For a country that is so liberated and promotes sex rights etc, it's porn laws are backward.

that's what my partner and I were discussing, how liberal it is there, but the online laws are so strict. If you reach out to a Thai lawyer, please report back here! I have read how there are locals pushing the boundaries of the adult online content market like only fans and getting charged, one guy in Thailand I think and another in Singapore (that's a super strict place anyway)
It's always been a huge goal of mine to live long term out there if I could replace my cam income with normal online income. getting there, but no where near close yet

Wow what an amazing reply to stumble on ! I was kind of choosing between Portugal and Thailand for Nov. and Dec. !!
I was looking up weather too and it looks pretty good now but much of it starts getting cold is about 30 days ? I was looking in Lisbon.
ALL the EASE stuff you mentioned is exactly why I love Thailand ! You can walk off the plan and get an affordable hotel room , a cheap dinner, DON'T need to rent a car.

^ I personally think non-nude might be ok but if you are an adult PLATFORMS it could be a problem there ( Thailand ). To give an example when I was there for two months ( around 5 years ago ) I couldn't open this website at all for a few weeks. Even THIS forum would get blocked and a warning from the government about " content " came up on the computer.
This is ALL super odd because old white guys love the place since pretty ladies will give them the time of day there ( while discreetly charging for it all ) lol . These " real " relationships with " friends " are legal there ha. Or legal enough that everyone looks the other way. Very strange.

Dolly PLEASE give many updates on Portugal !
Maybe you'll settle in better very soon.
If it helps I found some AirBnB options for a monthly rental ( $700-$800 ) but a couple of them are in shared spaces ( you get a large room in a house with one other person for example ). You may want your own space .

I'm considering Tulum Mexico now.
I found some CUTE apartments in the $900-$1100 range for a month ( mid Nov. to mid Jan. ish )!
Getting to Thailand seems like it's going to be OVER $1,000 yikes. Many cities in the west go to Cancun for around $350 - $400 round trip it looks like. I'd be in the same time zone roughly too . I still plan to sell a little to day job clients also ( zones do make a difference for that ). Debates haha.

I think you can also do a border run at around 180 days and get another 180 days in Mexico but obviously do the proper research.

You can, but getting 180 days on your visa isn't a guarantee anymore. They've been cracking down on "border runners." Plus I'll have four cats tagging along, so I'd rather just bite the bullet and get temporary residency.
You don't have to even stay in Mexico if you're a temporary resident, and you can convert to permanent after four years without having to meet financial requirements ;D

Yeah, to be honest, you'll hear about border runs being a thing all over the world. But now that technology is making it possible to track these things digitally & securely, governments are keeping better track of it. It's not worth it.

That's what I've been hearing too. I've also seen it's MUCH easier to get 180 days if you come in by land, but even so, still not worth the risk!
Mexico has a fairly simple residency process as long as you meet the financial requirements of the embassy you're going to. It's well worth the effort, even if it's a temporary stay.

Dolly , give us those delicious Portugal updates haha !
Was it affordable to stay 2-4 weeks ? Are you staying another month ?
How much is spa stuff like massages haha ?
Sorry for going quiet...it's been a bit of a hectic time for me. So...been in Portugal now (Algarve) for around 3 weeks and god damn, it's expensive!!! Much more expensive than Thailand. I really miss those $2 meals! haha. Although I have been living in Airbnbs and being in the Algarve probably adds to that. I know you can get a rental on Facebook around the $800-900 mark (maybe cheaper) but the issue is landlords want a longer tenancy, so it's been Airbnbs for me. Albufeira is pretty okay price-wise this time of year - Airbnbs will set you back around $900-1000 for a month, You'll need a car to get around though. For me personally, I'm not feeling Portugal. Compared to Thailand it's lacks a lot. Although some people love it - and Lisbon, or other areas may totally rock.
I'm heading back to the UK next week and dreading it, but have some family commitments I need to get back for. Will need to seriously get my hustle on next month, so will be on these forums a lot more. Been out of the game for almost a 1.5 years - so time to start making that $$$ again. Man, I've missed making that delicious money.

^ It sounds workable where you are ( I figure 1 k is decent for a month or rent if that place is good ) .
What does it cost for a casual lunch out ?
I hope you have liked the three week stay enough that you found it worth it !

Just looking on Airbnb and they have some very tasty prices on Airbnbs right now in Albufeira in the Algarve (with a pool etc). Some for around the $600-700 mark. The temperature isn't too bad for this time of year either. Eating out is pricey -(for me anyway because I'm a cheap skate after Thailand haha) but you'll be paying around the 15-30 Euro mark for a meal out. They have quite a lot of Aldi's/Lidi's so you can of course shop and get food in to save money. You'll probably need a car if staying longer than a month. It can be super noisy at night time with lots of drunks because it's quite a touristy place. I'm still in the Algarve but not in Albufeira anymore.
I won't be able to stay here after Wednesday because I have a dependent so will need to go home unfortunately. If you're outside the EU - you can get another 3 months visa so I hear. I reckon you could make some serious bank if you stayed for 6 months and cammed your booty off ;) Also, getting a long-term visa for Portugal is one of the easiest in all of the EU so that's an option if you wanted to stay on a longer basis.

I've always been suuuper curious about moving to Portugal! Thanks for sharing your experiences!
I'm considering doing at least a six month stint in Mexico next year, but I want to get my residency first. I may not come back, lol!
And thanks to whoever mentioned the thing about Thailand, that's a damn shame.
i was thinking Cancun myself, just three months. anyway thailand i do think w vpn is fine. ahah there is everything there, i think that it is a sexual paradise for some and it is surprising you can not do cam... anyway i want to go to singapore also, that it is going to be expensive tho
