we want every reason for the entertainers to feel safe and wanting to come to work

]ust a comment - no suggestions to add:

Sounds like your Club will be every dancer's dream! Club owner's who care about their dancers well-being & safety - that is refreshing. Hope you'll let us know when you open for business & where you're located.

hmm rereading the inviting part, are base single colors best for the walls, such as soft white, or light pastels to make the space more open and relaxing?

Pale pastel green (think "green room" as in movie or TV production) . White is too reflective in a DR with lots of lights/mirrors. I also suggest some research into color psychology.

we are moving in the right direction with the red tape, as all business ventures in our industry have to jump through

all i can say right now is that we will be the only fully nude fully friction and full liquor establishment within a 2 hour drive in any direction a the closest clubs to us fall under super strict codes and are bikinis only

when we sat down we decided to take the next step in club design and evolution, by bringing all the best of multiple markets and combining them into a single multi faceted location to have the maximum draw both from the guest stand point and the entertainer standpoint

staff hae their own area to take breaks, the kitchen will have a staff entertainer ala carte menu in addition to what is served on the floor and in the dining room
with 18 hour days three full 6 hour shifts can be arranged with a small overlay period, and no pause once the show begins for the day until the very end of the night with the exception of feature appearance times

we also had input that entertainers dont like sharing space with the features who come in twice a month, so a private dressing area for them is on the board as well

a light green or violet is being considered for the color scheme

and yes the management will have set guidelines and treat the entertainers as carefully as we have in the design or they will face suspension or termination for stepping over the line just as anyone else would

our goal is for everyone to have the safest environment to work in and the greatest chance to make money each and every day
those who would put that in jeopardy can find themselves elsewhere

have a good evening

no full friction means we are able to have lap dances where all others have distance requirements

Then you should advertise as "Contact Lap Dances" not full friction.

If you advertise as Full Friction then men are going to expect a lot of mileage.

one more thing i had no clue about
ill have them change the draft for the advertising layouts cause we dont want to give the wrong idea

OmegaWest, a question...

You asked for dancer input on the dressing room - that's great - but why not also ask about the stage/s, types of poles (brass, chrome, static, spinning, etc.) dancers prefer? What about the type of environment & furnishing experienced dancers recommend for a better LD & VIP experience?

keep in mind that anything you put in a dressing room can and will be abused. any items that you put out for dancers to share WILL get stolen. even cheap shit. my manager used to put packs of gum in the dressing room and I would regularly see girls grabbing handfuls and stuffing them in their bags.

candy, soap, even rolls of toilet paper will get stolen. food will DEFINITELY get stolen.

and as a housemom if you're gonna be lending out outfits to girls make sure you keep tabs or buy cheap outfits and don't plan on getting them back.
beware!
there are some shady bitches. if you don't believe me, leave one dollar on a freaking dressing room table and see how long it stays there ::)

@Miastarr the dressing room was the first aspect we were going into extreme detail early because it is spread over two floors, and being able to utilize all the available space to the best advantage

we have multiple options for your other questions, and if you have ideas by all means they are most welcome

let me go into some main lounge detail
480 sq ft main stage with two poles
3 16 sq ft satelite stages with a pole centered

IMO, I wouldn't even bother with a tanning bed. I can see girls fucking those up & i'm pretty sure you'd have to change those lights often. Maintnance. I'd hire a person who does airbrushing. My club has it and it's great.

I like the idea of having a big sink too. In case if a girl stains her outfit or wants to wash her hair before styling, she can do it there.

I'm not sure about showers. I personally would not use it. I find public showers skeevy.

LOL....Stealing toilet paper. Some girls are so damn ghetto.

At my club the house moms or staff usually put in a new roll of toilet paper. If it's done this way, no one can steal it. They have a locked closet stored with items, where dancers can't go in. Only the housemom & staff.

well about the shower aspect

we have it in the shift change and shift end that the showers are cleaned and wiped out to not have the public shower feeling
the girls have mentioned being able to take a shower after shift would be nice and even if a girl was running late, she could wash off before her shift

We have a kitchenette, fridege and microwave, leather couch and massage chair recliner, spa bath, shower in our lounge room it almost makes up for Mr Cockhead Attitude owner. Plus a smoking room for dancers only upstairs which could use a heater for winter or maybe a couple of hooks with dressing gowns.

Unfortunatley after a few incidents we are banned from the spa. For my birthday the manager gave me and 2 friends a bottle of champs after close....and then he decided to join us, nude (fat, bald the works). cue immediate exit of two of us from spa leaving other friend who was trying to politely avoid embarassing him further!

They also give us pizza on fri/sat nights so we can snack.

Like any club there are upsides and downsides.

I generally go into work ready and leave pretty much straight after I finish on the floor.

I want the dressing room to have good lighting and bench space to get ready/do makeup, lots of lockers, cameras (because there will always be girls with sticky fingers), toilets and heated in winter/air conditioned in summer. I try and spend minimal time in the dressing room so anything extra will either distract me or won't be used.

Adequate heating in winter, and aircon in summer. My club is failing at that big time. Our DR is three levels away from the main club level, so most girls just hang out in the small backstage area, which is freezing! Far fewer girls would call in sick if there was just a portable heater there.

The manager removes it, supposedly because we'd all huddle backstage and get lazy. But we do that anyway - only wearing dressing gowns and coats - when it's quiet in the club. At least if it was kept warm, I wouldn't dread stripping down to a dress/bikini again.

Make as good use of space as possible. My club has big dressing rooms but still I usually get 99% ready at home on weekends because it's too crowded. I feel for girls who live with people who can't know what they do - they don't really have a choice.

I think I worked at the same club. It's the only one in this city I know of stupid enough to do this. DON'T FEED STRIPPERS PIZZA! Please! If anything, a plate of sandwiches, fruit, crackers and dip, but not pizza!

For me personally, whenever I gave in to the temptation it'd leave me feeling sluggish, and I'd usually nap around 2am - easy $$$ time.

Also, if we are indeed talking about the same club, I noticed many of the girls were out-of-shape compared to other clubs. I don't mean the odd naturally bigger girl - but skinny-to-average girls with poochy tummies from eating too much bad shit. (I also noticed that the girls brought in far worse food compared to other clubs, where most girls bring healthy, lite meals.) From an owner's perspective, wouldn't you want to discourage this? You want your club to have a reputation for having good-looking girls, right?

my entire intention was to get ideas from the actual people who have to use an utilize the area provided while any changes can be made before we took our sketches to final print

you ladies are great and we still have some time to make minor additions as the major ones have obviously been noted

and @dtxgirl several of your ideas have also been thought about as incentive and bonuses for consistant work and another for keeping a full time student status as well

My first club gave students a reduced house fee. They also had some crazy point system thing going on where you earned points based on selling rooms and bottles, doing stage skits, going on a schedule, staying til the end of the night etc.

We redeemed them for free house fees, anywhere from one free night to a free month, parking spaces, reduced house fees, stage skips, and free food. It was actually pretty cool.

I worked at a club with a house mom for a couple of months and I loved it. She made home cooked meals (not snacks, real meals) for us and we could have all we wanted. She would talk to us and really cared, she wasn't running around trying to hustle and she would keep your morale up when it was slow. Those two were good house moms. I've worked temporarily at clubs with shitty house moms.

I can do without a house mom, I consider GOOD house moms to be perks. However, I do think it encourages lounging in the dressing room to chat with "mom", and I think their fees can be a bit ridiculous. I had a house mom that kept trying to push fake costume jewelry and cheaply made dance wear. It was annoying when I was downstairs trying to relax.

A Couch or Futon is pretty imperative, IMO. Girls get sick and/or drunk. In addition to everything that has already been mentioned, my favorite dressing rooms have always been very feminine, decor wise. Having all the amenities (shower, tanning, large lockers) are fairly common but when the owner takes the time to make the dressing room a woman cave it really stands out.

Some of the finer details would be ordering cute nametags for some of the loyal girls, (Don't do it for everyone; turnover is high in SCs) clean, cute carpets, and a good paint job make any club stand out as they really are few and far between.

Keep in mind that what you are planning sounds highly expensive. A couple of girlfriends and I actually painted a dressing room at a club I used to work in, in exchange for money toward house fees.

I worked at a club that had a 50? gallon fish tank in the dressing room. Very cute and zen but hella expensive!

Put a volume control knob in the dressing room. The club I'm at now blasts the music in the dressing room so loud that sometimes I have to go get ready in the public bathroom.

OmegaWest

the music in the dressing room will be on a limiter, only the dj mic will be what is on primary volume
so all standby announcements, uptimes, and feature happenings are what is mainly heard.

a pole for practice out of the customers eyes. if you want your girls to look their best give them a chance to work on it with out having to stay after 3am

Enough full length lockers for all the girls, plenty of mirrored counter space to get ready at, carpeting, space to move around freely, a housemom who provides healthy snacks, clean hairbrushes, curling irons that actually work, toothbrushes, baby wipes, deodorant, etc. that you don't want to have crowding your locker, dresses & other dancer gear for sale at a reasonable price, not more than what you'd pay at a store, including shoes. Coffee. Lots of coffee. Showers would be fantastic.

Most of my input has been mentioned, some hasn't, so bear with me while I give my opinion-

- Sounds like you're definitely on the right track with safety for dancers. This is winsauce.
- Space is imperative, from lockers to outlets. Glad to see this is being taken care of.
- Thank you for the healthy entertainer menu! I try to bring my own snacks, but it's epic if I forget.
- Fridge, under housemom control. That way we can check our stuff in and it won't get jacked.
- Showers. They can get skeezy, but I'd love to shower at the club if I'm late or before going home.
- Baby wipe dispensers. Again, you're an epic doll for this.
- Tanning. Glad to see there will be beds and airbrush by appointment.
- Cameras. They make some girls uncomfortable, but they ARE a big theft deterrent.
- Bathroom doors. This seems like an ordinary thing, but it's surprising how many clubs neglect privacy.
- Exercise area. I would use this, especially with available showers! Maybe add a pole or two so girls can practice new tricks without the embarrassment of beginner's slips on stage.
- House mom. One that doesn't hustle cheap products. Who sets a good example for the girls. I once had a house mom who was obese, never changed her exagerrated goth makeup since she started dancing 20 years prior, generally sat around talking shit, and the only service she provided was cleaning (which only consisted of picking up loose trash, no actual cleaning) at the end of Saturday night. Not a good example for the girls. I'm not saying we need a maid who looks like a carbon copy of our physiques, but it would be nice if she were decently put together herself and motivated girls to work/improve themselves while providing the usual house mom services.

As for the floor-

Spinning steel 2" poles would be amazing. I hate brass with a burning passion because of the way they turn our hands green and the fact that no one seems to know how to PROPER clean a brass dance pole. Steel is much easier to clean (good wipe down with alcohol). Spinning poles take a little getting used to for girls who've never used them, but give an overall more graceful appearance to tricks.
No vinyl where you want dancers to sit.
Also, avoid tile, unless it's lightly textured flat top tile with super thin grout lines where necessary. If it's slick, you'll see dancers slipping. If the grout lines are too thick, same thing. One of the stages I've been on (admittedly a shower stage) had slick, beveled edge tile with thick grout lines. I feel so many times...

Question is how is these facilities going to be paid for? What is equitable for those who do not need to use the facilities and for those who used them like it is their own home?

Naida
11-18-2011, 03:21 PM
In the case of a house mom, I don't think it would take the skin off anyone's nose to tip just a couple bucks. Like if you made $478, what would it hurt to skim off the last $3 as a "thank you for keeping this place pleasant for all of us"? Obviously, girls who make more use of the services should tip higher.

Personally, I am one of those girls who would make a lot use of the services and have no problem tipping out the extra cash to be in an environment that affords me a leg up mentally and in terms of my "prep work" as a dancer.

A clock. The management recently revamped the DR and the clock went missing. WTF

Naida
11-21-2011, 03:12 PM
Mandatory tip outs suck, but I can see how some managers find them necessary. Most of the dancers I know firsthand are some greedy bitches that will stiff the DJ when they made $500 that shift. As for myself, I've had managers stop me on the way out, only to have the DJ tell them I already tipped $20 before getting dressed. In my experience, the situation is much easier dealt with by having personable staff and a friendly atmosphere.

As a thought, wouldn't it be easier on management (and therefore on us when they don't have to make these annoying rules) if we as dancers nipped it in the bud? For example-

Encouraging customers to tip the waitress takes the burden off us
Tip our bartenders often. They work directly with waitresses and customers. By tipping my bartender a dollar or two every time I got a drink (or encouraging the paying customer to) I built good rapport with her, which paid off in a lot of ways, particularly referring customers to me and vice versa

Naida
11-21-2011, 03:33 PM
(Character limits suck)

Tip bouncers- I like to handle my own shit. I tip any bouncers I deal with a couple of bucks to turn their attention elsewhere that might need it more. This pays off in a couple of ways too. I handle customers my own way (they do respond better to a confident female than they do to a man) while other less confident dancers have more of the attention they might need. ALWAYS tip a bouncer who helps you!
Tip your DJ regularly, even if it's only $5 a night. They control our music and can fuck our worlds up on stage. It happened to me when I was a baby stripper who didn't understand why we should tip them. Tip better on good nights, apologise on nights that you can't tip.

Keep an open dialogue with ALL of these people. If you're friendly with them, they're typically friendly in return. By making yourself a regular tipper, you can "get away" with a lot more- whether it's like me, who wants to run MY business MY way, or with lower tip outs.

Naida

And +1 on the clock. I hate DRs without clocks.

Kinda skimmed through this so not sure if these have been said;
- Vending machines with healthy options like juice and sandwhiches
- Pole would be great, or else allow for girls to come in early to practice - perhaps offer a couple of the more advanced dancers house credit to come in and teach
- Fridge and microwave, some else said coffee machine +1 to that!

People started talking about poles to use, being obsessed with all things pole dancing here's my input:
Brass poles - easier to grip to which is great but I've heard of girls who've ripped skin sliding down them (possibly after hours of practicing) Naida said they can turn hands green which I haven't heard of but don't doubt

Chrome - More slippery so need to be cleaned more often but less likely to get irritated skin

Titanium Plated - Grippier than chrome (generally, grippy is good!)

45mm - Easier to grip to with hands, harder to grip to with legs (most dancers prefer this)
50mm - Opposite of 45mm
you can get skinnier and thicker, but please don't

Spinning poles - easy to learn, hard to master. You don't want a girl who's had too much to drink on one!
Static Poles - slightly harder to learn, easier to master
Girls will usually have a preference for whatever they learn on - can't please everyone.

Please have them at least 8ft high, preferably higher. Nothing worse than kicking the ceiling when I try to invert. Also it's great when there's a spray bottle of metho and paper towels handy so we can wipe off the sweaty tan or vag juice left on it from the previous dancer! Signs around the stage saying the seats there are for TIPPING CUSTOMERS ONLY!

And for the love of god please make sure they're well secured!!

ok a small update

the tipout part that was brought up
each varied shift depending on time of year will have varied shift tipouts
during special events that draw thousands of more people into the club girls that work year round will have tipout breaks versus those girls who only show up for the bigger crowds

dj, security, housemom, valet, and others are all paid positions, therefore the hustling the girls for pocketmoney is out the window
policy is being put in place that anyone who*shakes a entertainer down for money* is suspended first and a second time is termination of the person doing so.
each shift shall have a house fee, and a flat rate tipout fee depending on the shift worked

entertainers who are on time do not pay the tipout fee, leaving only the house fee for her shift
on time is dressed, hair nails done, and ready for uptime introductions

clock only in the dressing room video screens
titanium poles have been selected because of the green hand syndrome
also they are going to be both spinning and static around the main floor
spinning on main stage and static on the satellite stages due to smaller space

height is 25 feet secured to overhead masked trusses and to the concrete floor

kitchen will have snacks that can be ordered ( fresh fruit, etc )
so as not to worry about vending machines

i think i covered everything in the last few posts

oh and as regarding regular care of facilities, there is a daily cleaning crew each morning after close
carpets vaccumed, showers cleaned, workout and tanning areas sanitized

lol, It's certainly not all I want, but I love super high poles. Seems a little contradictory, but I feel more confident and therefore safer on high poles.

Naida
12-21-2011, 06:28 AM
I guess it's the "more fun" aspect that makes me feel safer when I'm really not. When I have a decent idea of what I'm doing and having fun, I don't think about things going wrong. Kinda like while you learned how to ride a bike without training wheels- at first, you're scared to fall so you do fall, but once you manage to learn to stay balanced and don't know they've let go, you stay straight up.

I'm perpetually terrified on poles under 8ft. Always mindful about staying low enough to keep from hitting my head and worrying how much room I have while upside down so I don't hurt anything on the dismount. If I can climb to my heart's content and/or swing myself around freely, I don't worry at all and have never hurt myself.

Sounds like the ideal club. Is such a thing possible? Who knows? I guess when it actually opens we might find out. I'd like to see it all happen as has been described, but it's a tall order.

The first club I worked in was damned close to being perfect--but none of us thought so at the time because the manager was a fucking meth-head who would sequester himself in his office for hours at a time, then emerge screaming at everyone for an hour or two.

Bathroom door that is not a curtain-yes I kid you not
Plenty of full length lockers
Decent lighting
Long mirrors and counter space
No male managers barging into the dressing room
Heat in the winter time
