Hey guys! Remember me? :)
Well, I've been away forever, and it wasn't a good idea. I haven't been on SM for about 3 months now, and I desperately want to come back. However... it seems to be a big problem. I tried getting back online for the first time earlier today; I was on the 10th page and only had this one old favorite memeber in my room.
I really, really don't know how to approach this situation. Should I just open a new account? It seems like such a waste, because even though prior to leaving, I've only been on SM for a little over 2 months, I gained a nice amount of favorites and a couple of regulars. If I start over, it will all be gone. OTOH, how do I make things work again with my old account, being on the 10th page and all?! It's such a catch-22. And even IF I wanted to start a new account, who said SM would allow it? Hmm.
I need your help and experience in that matter. And, either way -- it's great to be back!
SM will accept new accounts. People make new ones all the time for username changes, leaving studios, etc. Your regulars can easily find you again, esp if you give them a heads up for what your new username will be.
IDK I think starting a new account would be fine. I've done it a few times.

That is an very good point you made.
Tweeting pictures and geotagging.
I only remember this from an episode of Catfish but that is something extremely important to remember.
It is so ridiculously easy to look up where said picture was taken and sent from.
Thanks for the reminder.
Here is a handy tool for looking at your image before posting to make sure there's no hidden data: http://imgops.com/. You upload the file to the site (or post the image URL) and look at the hidden data for any coordinates, copyright info, what have you.

I am considering banning people who ask if I squirt.
I wouldn't ban them just for asking. A lot of these guys are clueless about women and think nearly everyone squirts. A lot of them will still buy privates even if you say no.

Don't start a new account. Same thing happened to me and within a few days I was back on page one near the bottom... few more days and back on page one near the top. Just stick it out for a week.

The easiest way of letting 'shit' die in this situation would of been for you to not bring 'shit' up again now just so you can have the last word. This thread has long moved on even though it seems that you haven't.
Feel free to add me to your ignore list if that is what would make you happiest. I personally rather act like an adult and try to find middle ground amidst my differences with people I have conflict with since I think that everyone deserves my respect even when we don't see eye-to-eye so I won't be blocking you.
Even though you seem to feel the need to insult my income, the amount of time I spend on Stripperweb and my personal opinions -- I am here only wishing you the best.

Nina,
I am in the same boat as you. Ratings expire every 90 days so if you take a 3 month break, they are all gone when you come back. I did this, and now I'm paying the price on page9. :) Just have to hang in there for a week or so to get ratings again and placement should start improving after that. Try split camming with another site to make time go by faster when traffic is slow on SM during this period. Good luck!

I tried using the new Streamate Photo Gallery today and when I click on it the page keeps reloading and flashing and there is a message saying please enable cookies. I use firefox and my cookies are enabled. Anyone else have this problem or the solution for it?

What am I supposed to do when people in free chat say, "Show Ass".
I think I asked this not very long ago but I don't remember getting any answers. Or how about when they say, "Stand Up."

I use an auto-text response that tells them to tip. I don't acknowledge or speak allowed to people who make free requests since they haven't paid anything to recieve my attention.

When I cam in free chat I just sit in my chair and people can see me from the middle of my torso up so sometimes I feel like it is a reasonable request. Like maybe they need to see more of me in order to decide if they want to spend money on me. But then whenever I stand up, show my ass or show them my shoes, they just jerk off in my free chat and then leave.
Do I need to reconfigure my workspace so they can see more of me when I am just sitting in free chat?

If they want to see more then they can tip to see you change position. It is not unreasonable for you to ask for a tip to change your position.

I used to do requests for free when tipping wasn't an option. Now that we have the gold feature I..

These guys don't need to see more of you in order to decide if they want to spend money. They already get to see and talk to you/us for free. If you have pics uploaded then they can check out your pics to see more of your body. An if they insist on seeing your body live then they can tip. I dunna man I don't think anything should be done for free if you can make guys pay for it. When guys ask me to show ass, stand up, show feet, show panties/shoes/strap-on I tell them to checkout my room topic for what to tip, check out my pics, or take me pvt. Guys who never intended to pay run off and guys who did intend to pay either tip gold or go pvt.

Yea you should try to avoid dirty talk. Guys get off to that. When guys start talking shit about what they want to do or when they try to get you to talk about sexual things, fetish, etc you should try to get them to go pvt before you engage in their talk. Because all they're trying to do is get off to your dirty talking. Like if they say "bb what would you do if I licked your pussy right now?" or "what size cock do you prefer?/what's the biggest cock you've had?". You should come up with a line that lets them know that you only talk about naughty stuff in pvt.

Oh no... I was copy and pasting "Please Tip or Take me Private, I would love to perform for you."
And then I went to paste it and instead of my Tip message it pasted something like o/96409337/show_69722090
I remember someone accidentally pasting something and having their account hijacked. Did I just make the same mistake?

Since it is just information on a stream you should be okay.
Streamate provides a place to save auto-text messages so you don't have to cut and paste all the time.
I also use a program called 'PhraseExpress' as well.

I've done that so many times.
What you pasted is your encoder setting! No, it won't hijack your account :-)
It automatically replaced your copy/paste text you had saved when you signed back in.

I say "if you want to see my ass you can either tip me to show it to you OR you can take me private where you will see ALL of me - my ass plus SO much more". If I'm in a pissy mood I'll say "says NO paying customer ever" but I normally just ban them - especially if they haven't said hi first. Paying customers do NOT behave that way.

I am SO glad that you are smart enough to see my point. I can live with the dating traffic and conform, I just don't like the fact they make fake profiles pretending to be me. It's one thing to use our images to promote a site, it's another thing to use our images to impersonate us. No one should be impersonating any of us and it needs to stop. I do not want anyone to think I am going to meet them in person nor do I want them to feel cheated or tricked. I don't deserve to be cussed at when I decline a fuck meeting nor should I be yelled at that the site isn't a dating site. I'm not responsible for their ad's.
It also is annoying that if someone brings this up the solution some of you suggest is to leave. Why don't you suggest we should stop being impersonated? More performers seem to be pissed off about the dating profiles then the actual dating traffic. If it doesn't annoy you then so be it but don't tell other people they shouldn't be annoyed by it. I'm kinda tired of the same damn people on here always saying everyone is negative when really you are the negative ones. You don't let people vent on here, you make them feel like they can't honestly post their thoughts and you are the first to bitch at them.
I totally get how you feel about it, Jane. I don't really "like" having fake profiles of myself all over but you know what I don't like even more? Being broke. So I'll take whatever traffic SM throws at me and use my camming skills to convert it. That's the bottom line for me.
3 of my highest paying customers are guys who all want to "meet me". We spend literally an hour+ at a time at $9.99/min talking about meeting, what we will do, etc. and these guys clearly just like the fantasy. Then I have tons of single paying guys who want my number or want to "meet up" and so I tell them that if they take me into exclusive we can discuss it. So I get a decent exclusive at $9.99/min out of these guys until they realize that I'm too much work for them, I'm not easy, and they will be spending a lot before they get anything from me.
I don't think we need to "lead them on" per se. I think you need to be able to feel out which type of guy it is. Is it the fantasy type? Or is it the serious type? You can easily work both of these kinds of guys without leading them on, tricking them, or anything like that. If I tell them we can meet up once we have spent enough time getting to know each other... who is to say how long that will take? Me. I say how long, and they know that. If it's taking too long for them, they can quit coming back. But... the ones who don't hold on to that idea that if they just stay a little longer maybe it will be long enough to finally meet up.
In terms of breaking rules or a guy feeling cheated and wanting money back... You can TALK about meeting up all day long. That's the point, to get them in to pvt/excl and spend time paying to TRY their very best to convince you to meet up with them. No one said you have to actually give any contact details away. I don't give out any personal contact details because gee.... not a single guy has yet to spend JUUUUUST enough time in exclusive for me to feel comfortable with it. ;) I really doubt SM is going to refund a guy for feeling cheated, and if they do it's on them, thankfully we do not get chargebacks on SM.
I honestly have not once been cussed at when I decline a fuck meeting, nor have I ever been yelled at for this not being a dating site. BUT.... when I am approached with these guys I do not snap back at them something about how I would never fuck anyone off here or "how stupid can you be this isn't a dating site!" type of responses. So that may be why all my responses are pretty decent. Not saying that you, Jane, say those things or react that way, but many girls do have negative reactions to these requests so you have to kind of expect a negative reply back.
Regarding false advertising, this happens all the time in lots of types of business. False advertising is all up to interpretation, when I see a site that says they are "FREE" and you can get "FREE SHOWS" I, as a reasonable person, know that they mean that the site is free to sign up and you can see girls on webcams for free, I would never assume that meant explicit shows for free. But, some people assume they get all the free explicit cams shows they want just for making a free account. There's a fine line when you want to talk about "legal issues" as to what is false advertising and what is not. Basically it would come down to a reasonable persons interpretation of the ads.
I dunno. You just have to work with what you're given in the best way you can. Being in this business what, 9 years now, I come to expect that my image will be used and there is next to nothing I can do about it, so I accept it as part of the job.
And Jane this is not all directed *at* you... I just quoted your post but I'm trying to touch on several things I've read here. I'm probably just rambling by now..... lol :)

I love your posting Sarah. I also understand your point of view. I seem to get the guys that REALLY believe it's a dating site. I tried the flirty, kind of meeting you up fantasy and he really wanted to meet up. He found my website and started e-mailing me on the e-mail address listed for it. Then he found out my Skype info and started contacting me on there too. So I blocked him on everything and he then signed up on NiteFlirt and started contacting me there. I had to block him there too. I am just not comfortable doing those kinds of shows after that because that guy freaked me out.
I am pretty nice about being asked for dates or escorting online. I decline the offer in a nice manner but a lot of these guys are kinda pushy and rude. I had one guy state that if I am a whore online I shouldn't have an issue with being one offline. My response after that wasn't nice at all. It used to be you could say no and people were ok with that but the attitudes are changing. I just want to do cam shows, that's all. No dating, no escorting, just online fun.
You do have to adapt but I still wish they would buy traffic too. Then at least we would have a better mix of customers. There's only so many times you can hear "bb show me your tits" before you want to kill someone. :_

I think there must be particular affiliates that are sort of stretching the rules a bit by making these profiles. I think that also they pick and choose who they want to promote and so you probably get so much of it because of an affiliate who is really pushing you on those sites. I imagine it's hard on the part of SM to crack down on affiliates that push the line. And I understand it's frustrating. :(
I just personally can't be picky these days unfortunately so I kind of like getting these guys because I know I can usually hustle them.

Points:
-Most of those are older men or people who dont speak english and confused username with email.
-If they a have an @ in there username, they are probably from an affiliate. I've only seen maybe 4 so far.

I hate to ask for tips, so I always remind them in my topic that is polite to tip before making requests. I have in my profile 3 or 4 full body pics so they can see how I look. Despite to it, I still receive this kind of requests, 99.9 % from freeloaders, so I don´t even bother answering to them, unless they tipped something.

so i have a question for everyone that works on streamate. We all know that traffic has been DIVING lately and according to alexa, its not just a theory.
http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/streamate.com
Now at first glance, this looks really really bad. but i did some research and found some sites that i guess are studios where i am on these sites as well and im pretty sure every other girl that works on sm is as well. i did some research on some of the off label sites connected to streamate that are high traffic sites. the sites i looked into are{ pornhublive.com , xhamstercams.com , ypmate.com and redtubelive.com } out of those four, xhamstercams.com actually has really solid traffic. here is a graph comparing xhamstercams.com to chaturbate.com, which is been having a huge uptrend in traffic for the past 3-4 months.
http://www.webstatsdomain.net/domains/xhamstercams.com/#.Um9Yq-J1mzw
now here is a chart comparing streamate to the other four sites i mentioned
http://www.webstatsdomain.net/domains/www.streamate.com/#.Um9XgeJ1mzw
now here is a comparison to streamates highest traffic off label site ( xhamstercams.com) compared to cams.com, imlive.com chaturbate.com and myfreecams.com
http://www.webstatsdomain.net/domains/xhamstercams.com/#.Um9Yq-J1mzw.
so according to this chart, xhamstercams.com is right up there with chaturbate.com
so my question is are we working for ALL of these off label sites as long as we are broadcasting on sm.com ? if so, then things arent as bad as they seem they are, even though streamates main site is falling behind. Im pretty sure thats how it works but personally, it seems like its been really really bad on sm lately, but if we are picking up all that traffic from these offsites then the traffic we are getting should be crushing ALL cam sites and MAYBE it feels slow for us because we just THINK it is. anyways i would like to get some clarification here because i might be wrong and i just wanted to share my research cuz it took a while to do and i figured i would share it with the rest of you and get some opinions others.
Just a side note, i spent alot of time playing around with these graphs and its super late and im super tired, so forgive me if i posted the wrong links to the wrong charts but i dont think i did, but if so im not redoing it, lol.
anyways, thoughts ?
EDIT : i just clicked on my own links and realized that you will have to put in the sites to compare to on your own, but its not hard to do, sorry. i thought they would be in the links for some reason ( dont blame me please, im tired, lol )

Yes, I am sure we are on on all the big whitelabels. Of course, according to the category, because if the whitelabel is preganantsex.com they will show the preggy girls or if it is gayhunks.com they will show the guys.
We should not be showing only if a studio made a special site only for its models, but I really don't think there are so many of those and they most certainly are not the ones that bring the highest traffic.
After all, yes, they do earn more if they get traffic to their own girls, but they win anyway if somebody registers to the site and visits other girls/guys, like we do if somebody registers on our cammodels link but has shows with other girls. It's like you would say: oh, John X registered on my link and if he has a private show with me I get 65%, but hey, he did one show with me and then 10 shows with this couple and i get 30% for...well, doing nothing. Would you refuse that?

so i have a question for everyone that works on streamate. We all know that traffic has been DIVING lately and according to alexa, its not just a theory.
Now at first glance, this looks really really bad. but i did some research and found some sites that i guess are studios where i am on these sites as well and im pretty sure every other girl that works on sm is as well. i did some research on some of the off label sites connected to streamate that are high traffic sites. the sites i looked into are{ pornhublive.com , xhamstercams.com , ypmate.com and redtubelive.com } out of those four, xhamstercams.com actually has really solid traffic. here is a graph comparing xhamstercams.com to chaturbate.com, which is been having a huge uptrend in traffic for the past 3-4 months.
now here is a chart comparing streamate to the other four sites i mentioned
now here is a comparison to streamates highest traffic off label site ( xhamstercams.com) compared to cams.com, imlive.com chaturbate.com and myfreecams.com
.
so according to this chart, xhamstercams.com is right up there with chaturbate.com
so my question is are we working for ALL of these off label sites as long as we are broadcasting on sm.com ? if so, then things arent as bad as they seem they are, even though streamates main site is falling behind.
There is absolutely no way to track Streamate's traffic. White labels are completely different sites. As are pop-ups. The pop-ups are not a streamate.com URL either (or the popular ones I've seen anyway). And guys can watch your shows (gold shows anyway- idk about regular shows) via TV now, which has no way for us to be tracked. So looking at Streamate.com's traffic on Alexa is pointless IMO.
Second, actual traffic is not equivalent to paying traffic. There is no way for us to track paying traffic either.
I feel like you're only seeing what you want to see/confirm- that Streamate is going downhill. And I don't think that is the case.

It is interesting to note that the white label sites are getting really good traffic, even more traffic than streamate.com. I used to look at alexa and think "OMG! TRAFFIC IS TANKING!" But then I realized that with all the white labels and with all the things GlamourRouge mentioned, it's next to impossible to tell what the traffic is really like. My best way to gauge how SM is doing is to look at how I'M doing, and look at how other performers that compare to me in terms of category, niche, work hours, etc. are doing.
And again agreeing with GR, traffic doesn't equal paying traffic... if you've ever been on Live Jasmin, the camsite with the highest traffic, you are very familiar with this! ;)

To those that have been attempting to help me with the SM encoder, I think I finally got it fixed. It does appear to have been a Windows 8 issue. I updated to Windows 8.1 today and the encoder opened up and seems to be working like a charm! HOORAY!

Yes you can get the update from the windows app store on your start menu :-) Movie maker stopped crashing on me too so it seems as though they have fixed a lot of things!

^^ I wish I knew who these affiliates were because I'd like to go see how they are promoting me! I'm getting more and more guys asking if I'm single, ones who use their email addy as their handle, or who start with for example, "I'm tommy, 35, single, and live in Detroit".
I get a lot of those too. I simple respond with a "that's nice".

See......I'm a smart ass. I'd reply to that with "I'm tommy, 35, single, and live in Detroit". Then, he'd ask me if I was repeating what he was saying. And then , I'd ask him the same thing :)

i soo can't wait till i upgrade my laptop to i7.. i miss being in the top 3 in my category. even though im like #6 you can definitely tell the difference in traffic but then again i checked other ladies and traffic or them going to private is just about the same as me..
though this is teaching me how to really keep guys in private or exclusive longer.
quality over quantity.

So far today on SM everyone seems to be suffering from attention deficit disorder and as soon as I talk to them they leave. They are going to give me a complex. Actually this happens a lot lately but today/tonight it is happening in spades.

They just leave after I say hi to them.
Right now I am doing something I never do, I am looking at other models. I don't have a customer account and I can't see how much they charge per minute. Do I have to have a customer account to see how much they charge?
Someone told me if I charged less I would clean up. I was charging a dollar a minute for my gold show, for seven minutes ($7). His suggestion to lower my price seemed like an insult to me so I went to Streamate dot com and I looked at the number one model and she was charging half as much, $4 for eight minutes. And she said (like I often do) that she would do the show no matter what. So if she had one customer in her gold show she would make a dollar and thirty cents for eight minutes of rated xxx entertainment. Plus getting ready for work, doing her makeup (etc.). What do you think? What do you think the average cam girl should charge for a minute of gold show time?
