I just don't get this...
In my encoder window, it shows i generally have 800 kbps - sometime like 780, but there. In the myranking tool, it says i have 590.
When I do a speedtest with Seattle, my ping is about 185-190, which is logical since i'm in EE (I have 1 ms in my country and 30 in Europe, but....), but the myranking says 700!
Do you girls have any idea what could be the issue?
Edited to add: my FPS is set at 30 and it generally is 30 - but now myranking shows 57 - there should be a new rating for that, cuz Excellent just doesn't seem to cut it...

I think they can but don't quote me on it.
most ppl google your camname and find you other places
I thought this was what most of the stink was about in their contract. They want to own whatever name you are using through them. So on MFC I already have a different name and I still have to change it on one more site, also on my clips. I didn't feel like getting in trouble with all mighty SM.

Seems like they didn't realise what a big job it'd be to check up on us on SM, twitter, MFC, CB, AW, C4S, ELM, forums and wherever else we've used our cam names.
Wish they'd have realised BEFORE they released a copy of the agreement which panicked everyone.

Ok, so I'm a bit late to the contract change discussion, but I wanted to see if 'm reading this correctly. From Section H:
Performer/Studio will upload and transmit content in the form of images, video, sounds, and/or text (referred to herein as “content”) to and through Streamate’s systems for re-broadcast. All content uploaded to the systems by Performer/Studio shall be works made for hire under the United States Copyright Act, as amended, to the extent eligible; otherwise, Performer/Studio hereby assigns all rights, title and interests in such content to Streamate. Streamate shall then own all such content, and Streamate will have the sole discretion to use any such content in any way it so chooses, including but not limited to in any medium and in any promotion, distribution, advertising, sales and marketing efforts, both during and after the term of this Agreement.
The way I'm reading this, in addition to your video stream (which they've always owned), ANYTHING you upload onto SM becomes their property. This seems to include your photos, videos, and all the verbiage in your profile. As in, they would now own the copyright to that material, and you wouldn't anymore. I'm pretty sure that in previous contracts they had a non-exclusive right to use your uploaded content, but didn't actually OWN it.
So for example, let's say you make a video for C4S. You made the video, so you automatically own the copyright, and you can do whatever you want with it. You upload it to c4s. Later, when the video section of SM comes out, you decide to upload the video to SM, too. Except that as soon as you upload the video, you give SM the copyright to that video, and you no longer own it. Now SM could prosecute you for copyright infringement because you no longer have any right to sell that video on c4s.
Another example: You post your profile photo to SM. It's a great photo, and you want to brand yourself, so you use the same photo for other sites you work. Unfortunately, you don't own that photo anymore, SM does. So when you use it on other sites, you've actually violated SM's copyright and could be prosecuted.
Am I reading this correctly? If so, we all need to be VERY thoughtful about what we upload to SM, because we no longer own it and we'll never be able to use it again anywhere else. If I'm wrong, someone please correct me - I'd really love to be wrong about this!

Ok, I looked at the copy of the contract that I signed (which at the time, I obviously didn't understand all that well), and it says:
All content/images uploaded to the system shall become the exclusive property of Streamates, and Streamates will have the sole discretion to use all such content/image in any way it deems necessary...
So I guess it's always been the case that SM owns your photos as soon as you upload them? That's a little disturbing to me, as I'm pretty sure most site contracts include a "non-exclusive right to distribute" clause or something similar.

Assuming you are correct, and SM owns all your videos, what if you cropped the photos differently or photoshopped them in some way or edited the video - it would no longer be the same video.

Assuming you are correct, and SM owns all your videos, what if you cropped the photos differently or photoshopped them in some way or edited the video - it would no longer be the same video.
That's a good thought, but I wonder if it would work. I mean, if I cropped or photoshopped a famous photograph and tried to use it for commercial purposes, I'm pretty sure that's still illegal. I guess from now on I'll just use some of my less-amazing photos for SM, and that way I won't be too sad if they give me a DCMA takedown notice for using them elsewhere.
I get the feeling that they are revising the contract primarily so they can crack down and reduce the number of customers finding us on other websites. If we can use our SM name, images, and videos elsewhere, it makes it so much easier for customers to find us off site. If they could successfully stop us from using our SM name, images, videos, and verbiage anywhere else, it would be much harder for customers to just google us.
Another interesting bit of the contract, in my opinion, was this:
Promotion of any non-Streamate related website while in any way using the Streamate web interface is strictly prohibited. This includes but is not limited to by chat, by text, or by any other means. Violation of this condition will result in termination of this Agreement and the permanent termination of your account. Additionally, Streamate reserves the right to withhold payments to you if this condition is violated.
I find it interesting that they don't limit it to "you can't promote other sites on SM;" rather, it's more like "promotion of other sites in any way while using SM" The phrasing makes me think that they could have a really long reach with that.
Could they say you broke the contract if you tweet about another site while logged in to SM?
Or if you're logged in to SM, and your Twitter profile and/or your own website contain links to other sites, does that count as "promoting other sites" while using SM?
If you really wanted to follow this rule, would you have to delete all your non-Cammodels links each time you go online on SM? If so, that would be a great way for SM to prevent their customers from finding you on other sites.
And if they catch you, you can be terminated without getting paid, so clearly they want you to take this seriously.
The thing is too, while they don't want customers to find us using google, I was hoping my customers would find me on SM from clips. But now, I don't even care. So it works both ways. They are basically cutting off their nose to spite their face. If the 35% was so great why would they worry about who goes where. They wouldn't have to. Oh wait a minute, because there are other ways to make 60%.
I don't even know if they upped the ante on the sm clips percentage if I'd upload any content.
All I'm saying is if I ran a company that had the $$$$ to pull in traffic I would make my models so happy to work there. There would be none of this stressing over stuff. If some lady got to "The Big Time" by using my platform I'd be happy for her. I wouldn't be trying to own her first born and the uterus it came out of.
Really, why all the concern anyway?! How many of us are destined to be the next big porn queen?
It seems alot to me ( and here is where I'll get the flack) I was reading about that Amanda 36C chick. She was saying how they were trying to ruin her and yada, yada. Well. One of the things she had blogged about was them trademarking( or whatever- I read it a few weeks ago.) her name that she's had for however many years. This seems to be possibly a spin on that.
Just my 2 cents for the discussion.

Something I've noticed on streamate. If I go to the streamate website, I see a bunch of different girls who are usually lower in placement in the first few rows. Then I go to cammodels and there is a whole new array of girls. While checking placement offline (in ebony and bbw category) I noticed that there were girls that showed up on cammodels, but were missing on streamate. Not just one or two... But close to ten models missing.
I wasn't signed into any customer account. Anyone else notice this?

"All content uploaded to the systems by Performer/Studio shall be works made for hire under the United States Copyright Act, as amended, to the extent eligible; otherwise, Performer/Studio hereby assigns all rights, title and interests in such content to Streamate. Streamate shall then own all such content"
As a Canadian, I find this part amusing as "you now officially own the copyright to all your photographs regardless of whether they were commissioned. The development comes as a result of Canada major copyright reform bill (Bill C-11) taking effect this morning. One of the stated goals of the new copyright law is to, “give photographers the same rights as other creators.”

I noticed it couple days ago. I guess SM is updating something and that affected the placements on the other sites.

My husband is a professional photographer, so this is my understanding based on how it works when he gives photos to people:
When we upload to SM, they own the content we upload so that they can use it as they see fit without it causing issues. However, you still ALSO own your own content in that you can still use it as you see fit as well. You and SM both own the content you upload to their site, you can use the same pics and vids elsewhere without problem.
It's like when my husband sells his photos, he does so while still "owning" the photos he sells so he can sell them and use them numerous times. Unless there is an agreement saying he will not reuse the photos, he is free to do so, making BOTH parties the "owner" of the content.
Basically they just have to own the content we upload so that later when you decide you no longer want to be a cam girl, you can't come back and demand they remove your content because per the contract, you gave them full rights to it. But you still have rights to the content as well.

Yeah, I noticed when I checked on SM there was girl on the top row who was on the 2nd to last row on cammodels. Popular girls on the first row of cammodels had disappeared all from the streamate webpage. This is what might be messing with our money. Guys can't find us. I should take a screen cap to show you guys.
At least I know it isn't my computer! Lol.

I am no lawyer so I could be completely wrong on this but the new contract does look like they have changed it to reflect that you do not have any rights to your on material anymore. I used to model so I've seen contracts where to give away all your rights to photos for photographers. (Which of course they pay generally pay through the nose for) and it is worded exactly like the SM contract is now.
The way it was worded before (the contract that I signed) let you retain some rights.
That being said, I'd love to see SM try to enforce it in a court of law.

That actually used to happen to me a lot. No, they can't change their rating (unless they contact support), but I believe it's a system glitch because every time it happened to me it was the exact same ratings (2 -> 5). And it happened probably a dozen times. I saw a 2 star and then up to 5 minutes later it changed to a 5 star rating.

Omg guys I had a whale I was in pvt with him for already 35 mins and my monitor went to sleep and I hit enter for it to come back on and when It came back firefox was almost off the screen so I went to drag it back and it completely went off screen I could see it in a small window on my task bar so I told him to please wait while I got the page back he waited ten minutes and I still could not figure it out and then sm completely closed my sm windows so 20 mins later I figured it out the page is back and he sent a good bit of gold after the show but I could have made soo much more.
CAMGIRL MAJOR FAIL.
I need to learn tech man I swear. Sm is still good though. I hope they do not directly own our photos that's bad cause I signed up to a lot of sites with my pic and I do not even know all of the sites to even take it down lol.
Before we signed shouldn't matter anyway. Have they sent the message they said they would send to any of u?
Will it be on sms msg system or our emails?

They reworded it, that section doesn't exist anymore. They just own the stuff we broadcast & upload on there. Think they realised there was no possible way they could enforce that rule on thousands of independent contractors, some of whom had been camming with them for years and creating content all over the internet under the same name.

Well, you can read it from the link they sent to everyone in the mail system. But basically it's the same as it was before. Nothing to worry about anymore.
