I have like a 4 sec lag, but my stream isn't laggy at all. It looks a lot better then encoder.

Mine's lagging about 7 seconds with the new encoder, no lag with fmle. It does that thing where it freezes for a second, speeds WAY up, then goes back to normal for a few minutes. Takes a few seconds for the room to load too - does the whole spinning wheel of doom on a black screen routine. It definitely looks better than the old encoder when it isn't freezing though!

When I calibrate my cam, it picks settings for 'standard' video, and not widescreen. If you click calibration results, my #4 result is for widescreen sizes. I wish it would let me broadcast in widescreen, because my placement has tanked while using this.

Ok, now it's only lagging 3 seconds and seems better...fingers crossed

Just had the most annoying, unresponsive, unenthused guy in private chat. Kept turning his cam on and off too just to lie there and look bored. Thanks for the $36, but still. Was so close to banning him straight out of private. I never get like this but I actually groaned with annoyance on cam, several times.
How do you guys deal with stuff like this?
I hate having had a show and knowing it was really bad!

So I just had one of my exclusive shows broadcast in free chat??? I was in an exclusive show a few minutes ago where the guy had me give my dildo a tit job, then he d/c'd all of a sudden. I went back to free chat, talked with a few people like normal, then was taken to another exclusive. Almost immediately he logged off, and when I went back into free chat, everyone was complaining about lag. I looked up my room on streamate and there, as a guest, I saw my old exclusive where I was giving a tit job!!!
Screenshot I took -> http://i.imgur.com/r55EJVE.jpg
I'm so mad that this happened. How often does "connection issues" mean that guests can see exclusive shows? I emailed support but they haven't gotten back to me yet.

I've had a couple guys like that in shows before, its so awkward trying to act seductive when they look angry or bored as soon as they turn on their cams. I try not to think much into it cause most guys aren't like that in c2c.

That glitch has been going on for a long time and it's hit a bunch of people unfortunately. I'm not surprised it's happening again - seems like there's a lot of lagging going on tonight (myself included).

Sometimes they just have bored cum face. Seriously. I hate when they perch their laptop on their stomach so its just a close up of them staring at you looking bored. Like, at least show me you have a hard on? I have a regular with bored cum face, it took me a few times to realize thats how he looked when he was masturbating.

Did anyone else get this message from SM or know anything about it?
I got it today and downloaded it. Took me four attempts to get it to calibrate, but so far it's a lot more user friendly than the encoder. It streams a bigger window than the encoder did, you can see more in one shot. Also it may be a bit yellower and there's about a second lag when I check my stream, but its pretty clear overall.
EDIT:
nope nope nope. Switched back to the encoder. It was glitchy and pixelating pretty hardcore, and my stream would lag then speed up and repeat the same thing over and over for a few seconds. nope. Not today.

So I heard a rumor from one of the top girls on the site that the rumor according to the affiliates is that SM stopped paying for traffic all together saying that it wasnt making them a profit.
Anyone heard this? This would make sense to me as to where our traffic has gone. I just feel like all of us are getting fucked so hard by a company that does not give two shits about any of us, at all. When I'm hearing how top models are barely making 175 in 5 hours I'm starting to think the issues on the site and the lack of traffic are not going to improve, it's just a last minute attempt to get as much as they can out of a tanking site.
I'd be curious on if i'm nuts in this supposition or if others feel the same.
Yep I've heard the same. And they also changed their affiliate program and I don't know the details, but the affiliates aren't happy about it so less incentive for them to drive traffic as well.

I've also heard the same, numerous times. I don't understand their logic because how could it not be making them money if a lot of models aren't making nearly as much as they used to and the traffic is shit. I started camming consistently on SM as my main site in April (I joined around Feb. but I was camming part time and I gave CB another go before I made the complete switch, so I cammed through new model status, didn't cam for a month, then finally came back), anyway what I was getting at is that in April & May I had lots of traffic even being on row 10 or so, and now I've moved up a bit and the traffic is just awful. So many large gaps of no one in my room or a rotating door.
Also RE: the new encoder. I got the email too but I have a mac so I can't try it. Since it's allegedly replacing FMLE and you have to use the SMBroadcast thing in the drop down menu, does anyone know how this will affect OBS users? I've been using OBS for a couple months now streaming in 720p and the only time I had issues were when it was super glitchy. I don't want to have to use whatever in-house encoder they made because if it's anything like the site lately then it's going to have issues, and I love OBS. I just don't want my placement tanked because of it. Argh

Ok, ok. Let's say they stopped paying for traffic. So what's going to happen with the cut they take for it? Goes in their pockets?
Cause if they don't pay the other websites to bring us traffic, then fucking give me more! Fair enough.

Quick question I couldn't find the answer to on doing a forum search (only an old thread). Do I need to email them in order to have my profile used on the thumbnail page thing? I just looked myself up in a different browser and there appears to be a live image appearing! I don't like that at all!
Any help is greatly appreciated. x x x

I was scratching my nose - cringe! I still struggle with some aspects of sm - just so used to AW - and am using HD and not the encoder as my computer wouldn't be able to manage it I don't think.
Everywhere seems slow lately..AW just as bad so it's quite a concern! x

Quite a while ago they stopped paying the "sign up bonuses" for new member signups because it was full of fraud - at one point they were paying affiliates $75+ per signup to the site. However, they realized this was a bad idea and now all the affiliates are on revshare (~35% cut), and they even opened it up to pretty much anyone that wants a white-label as well.
They (or you) can't lose money on the deal because they don't pay the affiliate unless they make money AND you make money. They also have a system (.cammodels) where you can get that affiliate share if you brought that customer, giving you 70-75% cut (your performance cut + the affiliate cut). So long as the affiliates behave themselves, they'll keep getting that 35% from whatever customers they bring (when the customer spends). You see a lot of negativity from affiliates that bring low-quality traffic or use methods they aren't supposed to us (spam emails) that end up getting cut off.

The only thing so far I HATE about SM encoder, is I keep myself mirrored in my logitech settings, and it keeps reversing my image, and I have to keep changing it back, although its set to mirrored in my logitech settings.

Question for the veteran cam models, (those who have been camming 5 years or more), would you say that these issues with Streamate are indicative of a cam site going downhill for good? For instance, it was said that iFriends used to be the top cam site, but then it fell from the top ranks...what were the signs and symptoms during that time? I would think that falling from the top would be pretty difficult so they must have REALLY screwed up to fall so hard.

The clientele on SM in just the few short months I've been working is steadily declining. I get abusive dating site fall off losers that demand my location and to show my body off in guest chat and when I say no i will get 3 or 4 more losers gang up on me. It's obvious these guys don't wanna be on SM they just stumbled upon it and have no intention of spending money or being friendly.

I just remember a few years ago you said "bitch get off my clit" to someone (tho not me) and now when I have rages I say that and it has become a favorite of my family who like to quote me on it haha. I think of you ever time.
I'm glad you're doing well, bb. And Ermagawd! I said that? I need to watch my mouth, lol. That wasn't very nice, but they probably deserved it, haha.

I would think that falling from the top would be pretty difficult so they must have REALLY screwed up to fall so hard. I wouldn't say that, no. I never worked for ifriends so I wouldn't able to offer you a synopsis on that particular site but I've been apart of sites that have fallen and it was usually based on financial hardships or someone not paying the models/affiliates. I worked on a niche based site back in 2008 that I would split with NF and MPS (mypantystore) and it was pretty good. However when the owner sold the site to one of its room monitors the site went to shit because he kept the money made by the models for himself. Once the site was back in the original owner's hands(4 years later)it had already garnered a bad reputation and it's still a struggle site to this day but they seem to be doing a lot better now.
I'm not saying SM is the holy grail of camsites because they can absolutely fall. However at the same time, I think SM will be around for at least the next 5+ years anyway. I think the problem isn't necessarily the site but models relying too heavily on the site. To me sites are like the stock market. They can be amazing with great payouts (we trade T, P and A, they trade money, lol) but they can crash and drop at any time. I believe a smart cammodel relies on herself to make sure that she stays well paid in the game by using multiple platforms to make money. These sites can be here today and gone tomorrow but a model who has back up and savings will have less to worry about when that day comes in my opinion and that day will come for some of us sadly.
I got the invite to try the SM Broadcast and I'm optimistic but a little scurrrreddd. I guess there's only one way to find out.

I wasn't selected for the new encoder thingie but I've been trying the new HD settings since yesterday. It was ok early today although I think customers were getting kicked out (couple of old time regulars who usually get long privates, today took me private and left in record time one of them 59 seconds). Then about an hour ago everything went to shit for me. I got disconnected and when I logged back in my FPS and the return rate had gone to hell. I am giving it some last tries because this is it for me this week, at least I had made my weekly goals so I'm not mad, just frustrated.

SM has it's ups and downs but nothing like what happened with Ifriends. The paying traffic just dried up there little by little until there wasn't enough to go around at all.
I think it's best not to rely on any one cam site though. I love having a variety of sites to work, depending on my mood and energy level. Any business can fail, at any time. Nobody is "too big to fail" so diversify ladies!

That's happened to me a few times too. I've always screen capped it and sent it into support when it happens. I did give all the details to Liz to give to support so they can investigate it further as there has been complaints of this from other models. Just another glitch they need to work out, no big I guess right. I was so mortified when it happened that someone didn't tell me in freechat earlier, but what can you do! Now I constantly creep my room right after a pvt to make sure it's working okay.

I don't know if it's a good amount? But I have like 17,000 people that have me on favorites and I've been there 4 years. It seems a pretty decent figure for me, and I've seen it gone up and down within a range of 50-100 the last 4 months, but then again all summer I was only on cam half the hours I used to be prior to May, and now that I've been online more it seems to be increasing more. Hope this helps!

I would think that falling from the top would be pretty difficult so they must have REALLY screwed up to fall so hard.
I can answer briefly on the subject & i wish no debate on the matter pls, just for the record ;)
I dont know what these sites actually did that made them fall cause i never really knew things other than my cam girl work, i can only talk from my perspective, how it felt to work on these sites back then.
So the good days -> steady platform, glitch free, lots of paying members, private based site(s), polite members, no harassment, good pay for models (50%), all good all nice, on Ifriends for example we were 3000 models online at a time (they also allowed multiple model accounts so the number was inflated but still, 3000 rooms online is something!
Decline curve-> Lots of tech. issues coming after major changes on site, lots of shows not clearing (a lot of money lost due to 'frauds' they claimed, these could not be proven to models) -> they changeg pay structure, introduced guaranteed pay at 35% but then all went downhill cause there was no paying traffic anymore, if u opted in for the 50% pay u risked to work for free, if u opted for the 35% guaranteed u got no more traffic for some reason, talking about Ifriends here.
So then many models got fed up with the site & left for a better one. Similar things happened to ImLive (they too greedy simply, they claimed frauds, chargebacks, kept a lot of money from our pay checks, models got pissed & left for better sites, livejasmin the same, started to tax models for various 'infractions', changed pay structure, gone crazy with requirements for studio quality pictures and what not -> pissed off models -> models leaving the site.
So MY conclusion is, when sites start to get greedy things start to fall apart. What means greed in this context? Means not paying good to have tech. guys keep site running properly, not getting real professionals, cutting expenses for important things like paying for quality traffic, paying models less, starting with crazy requirements, starting to penalize models and so on.
Cant name all in here but when u been in the business for 15 years almost u feel when a site is going downhill, this is not my personal opinion only, these are facts, these sites were on the top of the wave & they are not anymore, it's like every empire, it raises, shines and decline, is important what they do when up there, how they manage things so they can stay up as long as possible, if they take bad decisions when up thinking they will get richer & are 'untouchable/ indestructible' this is normally the moment things start to fall apart like in a domino effect.
As i said, this is my POV & the way i saw & felt things as a cam girl over the years, many of u were not even adults when i started camming lol, it was another era haha.
It's in human nature to regret the good times when u had success & felt u flourish & feel resentful towards the times when u find urself 'fighting' for every dollar on cam, the difference between us veteran models & newer models is WE CAN COMPARE, you cant, u have no comparison elements.

Completely AGREE with you I have been a FULL TIME cam model for 13 yrs now.. My first site was Camania..LOL.. I think that's what it is called.. but when I REALLY started making money was on IMLIVE .. I was the 6th top model once upon a time... then I started to know things.. went to the internext convention invited to be one of the imlive girls , the people behind the scenes talking about how they redirect traffic etc etc lots of shady things.. One day I was talking a bit about it to a guy in pvt .. who I would say FRAMED me and he wrote a blog about it.. So needless to say I was BLACKLISTED from ever working there because I know to much..lol.. since then I pretty much mind my own business and collect my paycheck.. I do not make waves because like I said I am a full time cam model and it's still my only income and support 3 people and then some..
I didn't start working on SM til 2009 when I was on the hunt for a really good cam site after being terminated from IMLIVE... to bad as I wish I would have got there sooner... Now I am hunting for something else out there as a precautionary method just like I have been for 13 yrs.. Always gotta stay ahead of the game never relying on any one site.

V- I am logged in from the same device this issue started yesterday after the update from SM. I can see my recent earnings but NOT my dashboard. I hope to get this fix. It happens in IE also.

I started at ifriends. I didn't start camming until long after their decline started happening. What I noticed in my short time makes more sense to me now. The chargebacks were crazy. The 50% was nice but it wasn't worth the stress of wondering if that show was going to show a * soon after it was completed. Then you would constantly check to make sure the damn thing was still there. I was always paranoid. So I switched to 35% but honestly the traffic was awful. Although the chargeback stress was gone it was replaced by glitches. I remember the exact day I was done there. I was talking to my husband about our children between shows. I wasn't in free to private. One of the guys heard me..and it angered me. I checked my settings everything was right on my end. I got in touch with them a number of times about this only to be told that nothing was wrong on their end...it was all me and to clear my damn cookies..which was something I heard over and over and over again.
Switched to Streamate in 2010 and My GOSH was I thrilled. Nothing like ifriends and I fell in love with my job. Now, with the crappy traffic, the number of guys that are showing up in your room..that don't talk, the freeloaders, and the pixlating video I have fought with for over a month. I just cringe to sign in. I"m not sure whats going on, but models will only put up with it for so long. I love Streamate and am going to fight it out..its just depressing. I didn't work yesterday or today. Why, because I can't deal with the horrible traffic at this moment in time. This has been the worse it has ever been for me there. When things are working right and I have traffic (that talk)..I can make a 100.00 a hour easy. Gold Shows are not working for me hardly. I ran three this last week in one day that failed each time. I finally gave in and tried another one after not having a show for 45 minutes. All of a sudden I have traffic, when I hardly had more then 6 in my room with only one of those names talking. So things are moving along and I get 25.00 away from my goal and I get disconnected from Streamate. OMG was I pissed! Thank GOD it happened in the countdown and not in the show. I just can't do goldshows anymore. I won't take the risk of performing for over 75% of the show only to get kicked off and not get any money because the show didn't complete. That's not fair to the models. Nothing is wrong with my internet connection. I upgraded it over a month ago, to be prepared for the new encoder settings. I have a brand new I7 laptop and one of the better cameras. I can sign into MFC and guess what....no video problems at all and I don't get kicked off.
So I have come to the realization that when cam sites keep upgrading to make the website better it just destroys things. I half ass think that all these guys that access the site through phones and all that shit can't run the damn rooms. Their computer or phone just can't handle running these rooms. That's just a thought that goes through my mind. My children will try to watch youtube videos on my phone and depending on where we are at, determines if they watch them. Same thing when your on your phone and trying to run facebook. Crappy signal equals no posting. Why not keep things simple.? Instead of trying to make a better website only to end up destroying it.I have asked my husband what he cares about when he looks at women. He doesn't care about all the extra fancy stuff. He just want to look at them and jack off. Something is defiantly wrong with traffic and the glitches. I think they need to get a grip on finding out what the issue is and fixing it before they go so far that can't come back from it....like ifriends. Models will only put up with it for so long. I'm going to stick it out because I really love Streamate. I have this hope in my heart it will get better.
Kortney is right....models need to protect themselves. We all have seen what happened with ifriends...any cam site can fall. When you start seeing models compare Streamate with ifriends...you know its getting bad. Thats they way I look at it. I really hate to see the word ifriends even paired with Streamate. That makes me want to cry

So, first day of using SMBroadcast was pretty successful. I didn't have any issues with it and it was just as clear as the Adobe Encoder. I had "very high" settings after it calibrated. It's a lot easier to use than Adobe, so that's a plus. No copying/pasting every time I start streaming. I still think I prefer the image I get using OBS and may go back to OBS after testing this for the 2 weeks. We shall see!
