Btw, how are you girls doing with the SMBroadcast these days?
I was loving it in the beginning because my video quality was so good (too good that I had to wear extra make up to cover imperfections, they got more evident with it) and it was so easy to operate. My bitrate score on the ranking tool was increasing consistently. They have four levels in their calibration rank: good, high, very high and best. Since my computer system and my internet are pretty good, the calibration results were always classified as "best" in the beginning.
But then since 3 weeks ago it started to calibrate just as "high" or even just "good", don't know why. I might send them a feedback about that soon.
Bottom line is.... I'm back using the Adobe Encoder with the new recommended settings, which work pretty awesome for me.
What about you girls? Still using the SM Broadcast?

Same experience here. I loved the one click and online, loved the way my feed looked but now it's a pixelated mess. I'm not using it any more. I think they changed something because it was working fine and I have good equipment and connection speeds. Not willing to take a hit to my paycheck to test it out any longer.
The encoder with the newer settings works great for me so sticking with that.

I know, right? I knew it wasn't me because my equipment and internet connection are pretty good as I said. And I don't ever run anything else apart from SM's streaming page and the broadcast application (SM's or Adobe). Nothing has changed on my side but still, my SMBroadcast results went down the hill. Not willing to keep on trying.
I'm also sticking to the Adobe Encoder with the newer settings.

Today was good. Finally. Between the site's issues and my crying all the time 'cause I got dumped it was getting pretty hopeless for me.
Turns out a nice subby picture brings right kind of guys to my room. YAY! I didn't break any records, but I finally made minimum goal. And didn't cry. Not even when it was requested XP
I quit using the OBS, 'cause it looked like it worsened my placement. Now I'm back to the FMLE but I'm forced to use it without the preview! Otherwise it crashes instantly. Guys were very understanding when I told them to tell me if I'm out of the frame, tough. I WANT THE BROADCASTER! Please, SM, hurry up.

It means they are viewing from an external platform. Users that are signed up to my website and viewing through my website will show as "green" names. If you don't have an external website platform connected to your Streamate account then the green user is a hacker and trying to view your private shows for free. As long as you don't enable your "external" show to on then you should be okay. SM is aware of this and haven't done anything to fix it yet.

I've complained on here numerous times in the past few weeks, but I'm still having problems. So my sound is coming in before my video does. My internet is 60 down/6 up which is the best I can get where I live. I've tested that on numerous sites and that's what I get every time. I got an ethernet cord (cat 7) in the hopes that would fix it, but it doesn't. When I do skype shows, videos, or use SM without the encoder, my sound matches with my face. I've tried upping and lowering my bitrate, upping and lowering my frame rate. Same issue every time. My placement drops horribly without the encoder and my feed looks like shit, which is why I don't want to use the HD wide settings.
Anyone else have any suggestions? Because at this point I no longer think it's on my side and this is heavily affecting my earnings and giving me anxiety about going on cam.

Maybe it's your cam or router? Not sure how old they are but we do need to replace ours way sooner than people that don't use it so much.

A year old is like 5 years old in cam years, lol! You can try getting new ones from best buy to see if that would fix your issues. If it doesn't then you can always return but it's worth a try :)

When you plug both c920s in at the same time, do both show up in your encoder drop down list? You might try using c920A for video and c920B for audio to see if that helps. No promises, but using a separate mic can help a lot at times!

So I was finally able to get my sound to sync by using my cam and my internal microphone. It doesn't work using either Logitech microphones, so yeah, I think both of my cams fucked up at the same time, as weird as that is. At least I know the source now! Thanks! Now I feel sort of stupid and wish I'd thought of this before. I think I'll buy a snowball microphone in addition to a new cam just to be safe.

My paid chat was at an all time low but I did end last night very close to 40%! All is not lost. Remember your goals and be happy when you achieve them. I have to remind myself
To stop checking placement or il get more into it than being awesome.

I've had so many issues crop up in the last few months with cams that I totally feel you. My last issue in bitrate/disconnect issues looked to be a cam issue until I bought a new one and realized 'oh, no, it's my ISP dropping out for a split second every few minutes that's dropping me.' Three months later, that hasn't been fixed and I'm looking into an office space with a reliable provider I've used before. Because fucking idiots...

While there's nothing much we can do about the Round Trip Time, I believe that Bitrate has more to do with the upload speed than anything else on the ranking tool stats. It seems to be an average of your bitrate values over a certain period of time. I don't exactly what you can do, but I'll tell you what happened to me.
When the ranking tool first showed up, my internet speed was inferior than the one I have now. My bitrate was just like yours, around 500. Then I upgraded to 10Mb upload and it started to grow little by little, like 1 point or 2 max everytime after each cam session. Then I upgraded again. Now I have 30Mb upload. It continued growing just a little every time. But now, with the Adobe Encoder newer recommend settings, that seems to be making the best of my internet speed, my bitrate is growing a lot faster, like 5 to 7 points each shift.
Now it is around 720, 30 points away from excellent. I believe if I keep on having that performance I'll pass 750 and have excellent in a week or so. That will make a good average over the time for, if some day, I have to cam with an upload speed that is not so good as the one I have now.

^^Yeah, it was driving me absolutely crazy and halving my income. I logged on last night with my sound synced and made my normal hourly.
I honestly thought I was having the worst slump of my camming career and now I feel like an idiot because it was all due to a technical issue I should've fixed far sooner.

This is my first post. The "Streamate Thread" caught my attention as that's mostly where I cam at. Ivy's post sums up exactly how I feel about stream all the time. I have top of the line equipment and amazing internet. There are ALWAYS technical issues.
I used to do gold shows all the time. But anymore... it's hardly worth it. Half the time I get kicked off and lose everything.

What all can I do to improve my bitrate? Right now all my scores are at excellent except for my bitrate and rtt (which I know there is nothing that I can do about my rtt). My bitrate usually stays around 533 and my grade is good but I want to get it higher or to excellent? My upload speed is 4 but I have an older router and I'm wondering if that could be part of the problem? Also my router is on the other side of the house (not sure if that has any affect or not)? My router is a netgear N300 Wireless router ( but I have my laptop wired to the router). Also my router is 4 or 5 years old probably:( I'm not sure what kind of cable I'm using tho but I'd seen something about upgrading the cable too but I can't remember what kind it was:(
Should I upgrade my upload speed tho? If so what do I need to upgrade to? Other than that what else should I do to get my bitrate improved or to excellent?
I called my cable company that I have my internet thru and it looks like the faster upload they offer is a speed of 5 upload :( I have 4 upload now. Its going to cost me $199 upfront for them to upgrade me and then $60 more a month for my internet making my bill $110 a month. Would upgrading to just 5 upload improve bitrate? I'd like to get my bitrate to 750 or more

I'd like to see the boxes where it shows your FPS/bitrate while streaming if you could:)
4 upload should be sufficient to run the new settings, I mean I have a bitrate of 1450 overall and I use the new settings and I stream at a solid 2000 bitrate while online.

I've been using 864x480 with 800 bitrate but I took this screen shot with the new settings of 1280x720 and 2000 bitrate. You will never get a bitrate higher than 800 because you've set it to 800. It will never go above that for that reason. So if you set it to 2000 it will read 2000 and under. Most of the time your reading will be less than what you set it for. The highest setting is 1280x720 bitrate 2000. Your current upload speed is more than enough to handle this. Unless you plan on splitcamming then you dont need to upgrade anything. Maybe if you replace your router or cables things will get better. But honestly many of us have brand new equipment and internet. All new hardware and the site is still low on traffic. One has nothing to do with the other. If you're gonna spend more money make sure its gonna give you a return. Splitcam

Mine is 20 upload, but that doesn't matter, all you HAVE to have to run the newest 720hd settings is 3 UL, so 4 is fine, and I absolutely cosign with what Phat says. I just suggest using the newest settings if you have the eq and the UL for it, which you do, because eventually these settings will have placement priority, and it gives you a nice crystal clear image vs the legacy settings.

Ahhh I thought you were getting something closer to 800. Anyways you upload speed is not the only factor when getting a high bitrate. It could be the quality of your equipment. When's the last time you changed out your webcam? What webcam are you using? How is your lighting? Maybe you can add some filler lights behind you? It could be something so small. I recently got a new c920 and my bitrate went back up. On my old webcam it was always around 800 eventhough it was set to 2000. Now its at 1500

Also to add to that as long as your rtt isn't below average, I wouldn't be concerned. Mine goes from average, to good to excellent, and normally stays within the good or excellent range.
My rtt time usually stays around average to good but I've never seen it at excellent. It has fell to below average a few times tho but I have no idea why:( What affects our rtt?

As far as I'm understanding it's mainly your distance from the server to the site and what your ping times from your ISP and stuff are and how long it takes for your stream to go to the server which would be based on distance and ping... and I'll tell you honestly, I don't notice a difference when I'm at excellent, good, or average to be honest, only when I go to below average or if I have a round trip time of like 3000 like I'm camming from Mars or something that I really notice any difference or get any complaints from customers, so I really wouldn't worry about that at all. Sometimes if I fall below average and stay that way after about 5-10 mins then I'll just reboot my stream and it'll fix itself most times.

Anyone else get a notice telling them to update their ID? It said my ID was expired, but it wasn't. It still let me stream but told me to update it in the next few weeks. I updated it right away, but after I updated it, now my account says I can't stream until they get around to looking at it, so it could be 5 business days! Don't understand why i could stream until I updated, then they are gonna block me from streaming....

Same thing happened to me. I just emailed support and told them my ID wasn't expired and they needed to look at my documents again. They emailed me back and apologized for their error and removed the warning.
