Personally, I do my 'observing' from the public home page, not while signed in as a member.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who tests the water, sees who else is working and how long it's taking those models to be taken private, before I sign on. Maybe I'm the only one who likes to mentally prepare for what I'm up against before I begin working. Is it super slow?, or smokin' hot busy; models complaining about dropped shows or glitches?) For me there's rarely a reason to sign-in as a member, everything I'm curious about is spelled out on the SM public home page.
Just wondering, is watching a fellow models from the public homepage perving or trolling? Or is that only when you're signed in as a member? a person knows when they are trolling , its a evil feeling so anyone knows when they are watching for all the wrong reasons.

In this industry we certainly need to be able to adapt to change. Some of those changes many of us will like, and some of those changes many of us won't.
Before I cammed, I put a lot of emphasis on learning GOLD show hustle long before I even began, which I think gave me a head-start, as it was something I was already interested in before I had any cam experience myself. I can imagine that for the ladies who started camming, and then GOLD shows came, it is a whole different ball game. But I did, myself, have to think about difficult changes when the whole "Xpeeps interactive" shit started going on and this newly invented interactive dildo was put on the market and it scared me.. Lol.. I didn't like it at all, but I don't think it's amounted to anything (It may have done! But I don't see any talk of it, and either way it doesn't seem to have negatively impacted my success), but regardless... things are going to change for us because that's what this industry has always done.. and we are all going to have to find ways to adapt to those changes.
If more interactive ways of camming are going to be introduced, I think it is always going to be best to try to remain open-minded, try to stay calm, and just have a brainstorm about if we can make these initially scary changes help rather than hinder us... To put our own unique spin on the new shit to stay ahead of the rest.
In certain ways, we are incredibly privileged. And in many ways, yes, we absolutely have it so much easier than others. - We log on and traffic is handed to us on a plate. We didn't have to do anything to get that traffic. Just switch on our cams and log on. That's still insane to me. Incredible. And we have come to expect it to be that easy, which can be a huge pit-fall... I think the more a camgirl takes her whole business into her whole hands, the more success and longevity she will see. Her business will benefit from that extra personal effort in getting herself out there, bringing and keeping her own traffic, working on promotion, solidifying her niche, and making a sustainable brand for herself.

Guys guys I don't mean to change the subject... But I finally got approved over on SM. I'm going to start work today but I'm going through first time camming jitters. I'll be honest I've shown my stuff off on a cam before but only to an ex boyfriend. I also have no qualms about being naked in front of people. Up until this point I've felt mentally prepared. My only concern... What if no one likes me and what I'm offering to the table. I mean I feel like I bring a unique fantasy to people, bringing the "cute little raver girl" aspect of it. (I would assume this would be a fetish?) I also have multple outfits outside the raver girl, and super sexy and cute lingerie I've worked in sales and hospitality for years now I know how to act to customers, fend off rudeness and like many of you have used the internet since they can remember. Thanks to my own family I am hardened for trolls. I have physically prepared for this, if you know what I mean ;) and have good hardware, not top of the line like some girls do(but its definitely a goal now :D ) My sister who totally supports my new career choice even bought me new speakers, a tripod and a logitech 920 cam. I've calibrated it and everything, tested it out and set up my room for perfect lighting and optimum sound. My dad(WHO DOES NOT KNOW) gave me a new ethernet cable... he called it an echo 6 and its apparently all types of bad assery for ethernet cables. He guarantees its completely stable and won't choke my internet out. I haven't had issues yet. I have lurked on other girls on just more the SM EVERY DAY FOR TWO WEEKS STRAIGHT! I am prepared for the hustle. I even have a notebook ready to gather info on clientele. Have a business plan and everything... AHhhhh! My head is going to explode... D: I want to do this and I am more then willing to put the work needed to be very successful at it. I am even conceded and like seeing myself look sexy and stuff on cam.I am confident in my own abilities.........BUT STILL.....what if no ones likes me.... D:
*BREEEEAAATHE* Deep down I feel I'll be fine, but I am seriously having some pre anxiety issues here XD Thank god for these forums to be able to let loose... and sorry if I posted this in the wrong thread. I just figured since I'm on SM it'd be okay to do it here, but I wasn't entirely sure.

Its normal to have pre-cam jitters and to question whether they will like you or not.BUT,if you go in with that attitude, theres a good chance that it will become a self fulfilling prophecy. You said you're conceited - well then work that to your advantage.KNOW youre the baddest bitch on SM (at at the very least, the baddest one in your room lol) and just go for it.Confidence is absolutely the most important part of being successful as a camgirl, atleast I believe it to be.
Worry/anxiety/tension comes across very easily on cam - remember that humans (and animals) only use words as what, like, 5% of communication I believe? The rest is entirely conveyed through body language. We read each others bodies and see the truth no matter what is coming out of the mouth.
Theyll love you,they always do.
My two cents - I started out with a notebook as well, quickly chunked it and started using the notes system on SM to track client likes/dislikes/sessions etc.Its easier, you can get to it in a millisecond and they wont even know youre "consulting" anything about their show, theyll just think you remember them and the session(s) youve previously had with them.
* Ive had to have posted almost this same exact response atleast a dozen times lately. They are all titled differently, but Id def go searching for some "first time on SM" "new to SM" "pre-cam anxiety/jitters" etc threads - theres wonderful advice in all of them.

I love it when this happens :)
Once I had a guy who sat in my freechat for WEEKS.... finally I told him he better talk to me or I would ban him. He immediately said something and then bought a 30 min block session.
He probably is one of those guys who needs to know they're being paid attention to before they give money(and not one of the cheapo $1 gs guys lol)...hopefully one of the ones that will keep on giving too :)

It could be a glitch. It happens sometimes where they're not actually in your room at all, but their screen name is sort of "stuck" on your guest list.

Yep, you gotta stop/start stream. It's a glitch. It's been happening to me occasionally. The "unbannable" guys are actually kickable. What I mean is that someone who is "unbannable" can be kicked out of your room by clicking "ban" but then he won't show up on your list. If you click "ban" and the guy is on your list, you'll know it was just a glitch.

Hi, looks like u are a foreigner, u sure u know what camming is all about, pc/cam setup, so on? Cam provider? Maybe cam brand? it which makes people wonder of course if ur top placement and amount of paying traffic is maybe a SM reward for u always speaking out 'their minds'?! Just saying u know....
It's due to HARD WORK and appealing to the traffic of Streamate.
It's ok no worries, I'm done speaking about Streamate, it does no good y'all have your opinions and I have mine. You guys can figure it out on your own I'm sure.
Lets see if my placement drops from my lack of "Streamate defense". ;)
(And before any of you start dissecting what I just said let me make it super clear, I get where I'm at from hard work and appealing to the traffic of Streamate. In no way am I saying that "you" - the general you - are not a hard worker or do not appear to the traffic. ALL I'm saying is that that is how I personally make it happen.)
And yes, you are correct AliceFun that I HAVE bitched about Streamate. When my placement dropped very low I bitched about it. I also was able to pin point the issue and fix it. Not really sure what your point is in pointing that out, but I'm not denying that I have ever or do ever bitch about Streamate.
My point in saying that people who complain are the loudest was not to say that they should not complain, it was to say that just because people loudly complain does not mean that MOST of the performers have issues. It means that it gives a disproportionate view of the situation. I'm not really sure how you guys can pick my words apart so much to the point of trying to make it look like I think people should not complain. No. What I was saying was that just because a handful of models loudly complain, that doesn't necessarily give an overall picture of how the site is actually doing.
I get that people are frustrated when they have issues, that's understandable. What I don't get is why you guys have issues and then I try to share my perspective and you jump the fuck all over me like I'm just some big bad bitch. If you've been around these forums for any length of time I'm pretty positive you would know that I am nothing but helpful and I always go out of my way to help people. It baffles me that a few of you choose to try to pick me apart at any chance you get simply because you are frustrated with Streamate. I mean really, don't kill the messenger?

I've always just assumed that nighttime camming attracted more spenders (guys who are home from work). But then again, maybe some of the daytime spenders are guys who happen to have off from work THAT DAY, or guys who are on a 1-hour lunch break, or guys who work evening, or guys who are in other parts of the world where it IS evening already (such as the U.K.).
I think I'm gonna try the 'couple hours of sleep at night til the alarm goes off/couple hours of sleep during the day' thing, so that I'm allowing myself to be available for both daytime and nighttime camming, while making sure I get some rest. I wanna try 2 - 3 hours (early-afternoon) on SM while my son is in school. And then maybe 2 hours on there at night when he's asleep.

In my "comeback" phase from getting over sickness, I thought I'd try camming during the day so that I could have my evenings free and maybe still have a life (thus avoiding some of the burnout). It has turned out well, but I can't say if that's because daytime hours are better, or because I've upped my game; I spent the entire time I was sick up to my elbows in research and completely rethinking my approach. In any case, it doesn't seem like daytime is any worse than other times of day. The only time things seem to slow down for me is around 5pm ET, probably because people are driving home, so I usually take my break then.

That being said, I have some opposite views than you hold on Streamate and some of the way that it choses to run its business. I didn't 'pick you apart any chance I get because I am frustrated with Streamate.' I asked for clairfication on your views about some things to which your response was 'Holy shit, I can't believe you thought I said that!" I've noticed that as long as you haven't logged in for that working day then it's very accurate. So, if you've been online since the cut off time (the day before), then your placement will be different than what you see; but if you haven't been online since then, then it's accurate. But I can only speak from my experiences and they've been right 100% of the time. Or maybe there's just something up with my account? *paranoid*

Is offline all that important? My main concern is when I'm online. I want to be at the top spot or at the very least top row.
I had stated in verified why I found offline placement to be important to me. Which is because my schedule is not in stone and I have a broken foot, so I need to know when the optimal time for me to be online was and the offline placement was a good gauge for that. that way I wasn't working in pain and hurting myself more physically and work wise.

I must have missed that in verified. Can you link it to me in PM? Thanks!

ppl talk about it all the time bb, so it sparked a interest but 3 different comps, tried 3 differnt browsers, logged in, not logged in and they all give different results. I don't care about offline placement and now def do not ;) curiosity killed this kitty for the day :D

I think you are right! Some models who haven't worked since February have higher placement than me. Hmmmm.....That is not right so I don't focus on offline placement!
