Thanks Beckatron! Since last time I was on here I realised My husband was referring to Indonesia (Jemia Islamia- Abu Bakar Bashir) not Korea (Kim JI).

AND hypothetically, if, as far as I know, there is an extremist religous/political faction running in a country (regardless of the denomination) if have no compunction asking if anyone knows more about the situation, (particularly if I know I'm not educated on the matter) in a forum which is discussing travel to another country.

I'm an Aussie and we base our sense of humour on taking the piss out of each other- and then we follow up by educating the person on the matter, not ridiculing them for something they dont know that they dont know!

There's countries in Asia where if you know someone there, you'll be safe. Just like there's places in American cities where if you know someone you'll be safe. There's exceptions to this rule, and where there's exceptions, is where you should avoid travelling. I have a friend who's been in South Korea for several years now teaching English. She's never had any problems other than when she comes back home, she suffers from reverse culture shock.

And the country in question was South Korea which is partially known for it's video game/internet culture. Seoul is a beautiful city, and one of the places I recommend visiting if you're going to do a tour of Asia.

Understanding the social and political climate of where you're looking at going can help you no matter what. A good way to judge if someplace will work for you is to check with your Embassies list of countries that AREN'T recommended for tourism and why.

And the reason why I think everyone jumped on your case is because they figured you for being a conservative American who watches too much "Fox and Friends." I made my comment because I'm 1/2 Pacific Islander and most Americans don't even know what countries are Pacific Islands. (They also don't know any Supreme Court Justices either, but that's another story.)

^^^ Smart, and as an analyst/organiser type I would eventually have done through research on any country I was considering.

It seems to me that judgement was quick to come without investigating what I did and didn't know; in an arena which is devoted to educating.
It would be sad if otherwise bright young people were intimadated offsite by senior members who react quickly without consideration. I'm no hypocrite, I love to give out a bit of grief but you have to be prepared to back up with information, otherwise we are just reduced to high-school type bitchiness.

teehee, 'Fox and Friends' - I get the idea "All those Asian countries look the same"... right?!

The issue comes in that there's a lot of young people who come on here to "troll" instead of actually contributing to the forums with knowledge, experience, or anything that remotely constitutes serious discussion. I've seen a lot of threads that have turned into flame wars over virtually a difference of opinion. ::)

And "Fox and Friends" is a conservative American news shows that makes a lot of racial assumptions and does grandstanding.

I contacted Dr. Hoyos again, last week, with updated pictures attached to my email. I had contacted him about 2 1/2 years ago for a quote on liposuction with fat transfer (to my ass). Back then, he had actually called my phone via Skype and spoke to me. He quoted me 5K for everything. Well, I just received an email back today from his assistant Olga. The new quote is 7K for everything. I also contacted Dr. Mendieta in Miami for the same procedure. If I'm not mistaken, Dr. Hoyos actually trained Dr. Mendieta, I think he told me that on the phone, or I read it somewhere, but I'm not 100% sure. Dr. Mendieta is like the KING of butts in Miami, and he quoted me 14K for the procedure, so exactly twice as much as Hoyos.

Dr. Hoyos reply via email:

In vegas there's a melting pot of girls, from other countries. Some girls have gone to Columbia, and Brazil. Have you ever seen those beauty pageants in latin america on the spanish channel? Those girls are absolutely gorgeous!

As someone who goes to Panama and other locals in the region, and who judges bodybuilding/fitness/bikini shows down there, I can confirm that 100% true. Me, had some dental work done - by a US trained oral surgeon - for a fraction of the cost in the US. Person would have to be crazy not to go out of the US to have various procedures done by docs with more experience at a fraction of the costs.

Will, thank you for sharing!

Honestly, my fear is not that I will have botched work done. My fear is more of the sanitary conditions. Do you feel that your dentist/oral surgeon was as diligent about keeping things sterile as one in the US would be?

I have now had 4 people come from the states to have major dental work done (mine was minor BTW) and all saved thousands and were happy with the results. Like anything, you must get referrals and make sure the place is legit. My sister is coming with me when I return in Jan to have crowns and root canal done for about a 4th of the cost her dentist was charging. She'll have dental work done, a nice vacation, and still be several thousand ahead.

I have been doing some research. I have been reading makemeheal.com and can not find much info on him. I would like more info on him, too.

I am looking at Dr Yily in The Dominican Republic.

I want to have some of my fat sucked out of my thighs and put in my butt (fat transfer). However, I feel extremely self indulgent doing this. I have had my boobs done but honestly they needed to be done after nursing my son. Sure, I have no butt---but I am not sure the costs/risks are worth it. But goodness, Dr Yily does some amazing work!
