I can hear the guy downstairs using Skype and I'm hoping to God it's not this site he's using! He has it at full volume because he's hard of hearing. He uses it a lot!

UGH...I opened the door expecting my delivery but it was a neighbour (female)...different from the one I mentioned above. Oh well, why can't I look like a slut at 10.15 in the morning?!

Hi Ladies

I am in need of some serious help and advice as I am in panic mode!

I have been on aw for two years full time now and canned at home whilst living with family discretely. Due to unforeseen circumstances I now need to find a room to rent elsewhere. I have never done this before and long story short I spoke to a letting agent about a room and I advised I'm self employed. I said I have an online business as he said we wouldn't rent to you as your running the business from the property. I am now super worried about the whole thing so I wanted some advice and had a few questions so here goes

I don't really want them knowing I do cam so hence I said about the eBay business. It's not a complete lie as I do sell online but not long started but anyway I'm assuming as self employed if I said I didn't run the business from home and kept stock at a location I could get away with that maybe but when they ask to see my accounts would it give the game away that I do cam? Would I have to be honest. As don't they do reference checks so wouldn't hey need to know the truth or can you get a way with it somehow. Advice needed on this asap really.

Also how much would they ask rent and deposit up front with it being self employed

I really am worried about this whole thing and I don't really want them knowing what I do. Any help would be if great help. Thanks ladies

You will usually need to show 3 or 6 months of bank statements. Preferably you will have 3 years worth of accounts but if you haven't got this just prepare the bank statements and ask hmrc for a copy of your SA302's (self employed tax receipts basically).

They dont need to know what you do. But as you've already given them this info you can't really change it now. In future you could say you teach english as a foreign language online or you moderate online bingo sites etc.

Your deposit will usually be anywhere from 500 - 1000 ish depending on the rent amount. Make sure they give you or email you confirmation that they've put your deposit into an approved deposit scheme!
As you're self employed for less than 3 years they may ask for 3 months rent up front.

Just be prepared with all your paperwork and you'll be fine. Good luck :)

Thanks for the response that has been very helpful. In regards to what I say I do will they actually check up on this like say if I give bank statements will they try and look at who the company are etc? I just don't want to be caught out and exposed as a calmer as this is private to me and not something I want the landlord and housemates knowing. I'm thinking would they look into what u actually do in regards to wanting to know as a reference the same way they may check out your company you work for if your employed?

Doubtful. They only really care that you have the means and the good history to make payments every month. However camming isn't a bad thing, it's not illegal. Many models here fully disclose what they do. It's becoming more and more common now so i doubt many letting agencies would bat an eyelid.

Just putting my experience out there regarding renting..

When I first left home and moved into a house share about 5 years ago, all they wanted was a letter from my accountant saying I earn X amount per year and can afford the rent. No bank statements or anything like that. With my second rented place, they wanted to see a tax return - but again, no details on there of where the money was coming from etc. Just the amount I made and tax I paid.

I think it depends whether you're letting straight from a landlord or whether it's all done via agencies. And some will need more evidence than others.. I also called myself a therapist (which I've always been under with HMRC too) which is vague enough/also would explain you being home at certain times of the day etc if you're in a house share.. x

Hi ladies
I'm online now and I have had a chap in my private for 25 minutes now. Completely silent not saying anything says his bandwidth is 0 but usually when that's happens they disconnect. I'm unsure what to do. Is this someone who could be into that ignore fetish. Shall I just continue. Never had this before. His username is hornyloon if anyone may recognise it I don't know.

Hey Joijoijoi.. Did he stay longer? Did you get the credits from the session?

I've read on another forum about a few occurences of someone going into paid chat and the minutes adding up but no word from the client and then no credits afterwards.. And upon asking AW for help/missing credits, AW's response is that it's a glitch within JCI and the client never received any video. = So no credits. Anyway, hopefully you got your credits from the show, but just something to watch out for!

A reg of mine came in last night, didn't answer any of my questions etc.. And I logged off after a few mins and upon logging back on, hadn't received the 10ish creds for the session, just something to be mindful of, if a client is being quiet, you may be stuck in JCI glitch-land! X

I didn't mean to be rude girl, by asking you what you meant. But you are being rude. don't bother to ask question here if you are a child like this.

Edit; it's kind of sad that you occupy yourself with competing newbies. If you are good at what you do there is no need for this jealousy.

For some reason, AW are now no longer charging VAT on the services we pay for, as standard. No more having to submit proof you're a business/self employed, etc. So what the heck was that all about in the first place, and why have they reversed this?!

sexysusie
12-07-2018, 08:27 AM
They were covering their own backs in regards to EU vat regulations. We are professionals and so the dealings between ourselves and AW are classed as a business to business transaction meaning we can account for any VAT owed on our own via the reverse charge provision. Usually b2b status is shown through having a vat number, but as we don't need to register for vat in uk until we earn over 80k, most cam models will not be registered, so they accepted hmrc self assessment docs instead. It was all very vague to start with as to wether the regulations should apply to us at all (see the cases with ebay and etsy). Perhaps they now think brexit means it doesn't apply to us any more.

Does this mean we can ask them to remove our details from their database? I asked them about this a while ago and they said they had to keep them in case they were asked for them. I hate the thought of them having so much info about me in the event of a hack. Xx

Ask again now and mention that, pretty sure they cannot keep our details under that law.

Ask again now and mention that, pretty sure they cannot keep our details under that law.

Sites can (indeed must) keep your details for whatever period the age verification laws and tax laws require them to keep records. These requirements do not supersede GDPR, and GDPR regulations are careful to say that. In the US, IF YOU WORKED for even $1, we're required to keep your ID records for 3 years. If we issue tax documents to you, we must keep those records in storage for 7 years. UK law may differ in timing, but the principle is the same. If you didn't work or incur any other record-keeping obligation, then they must remove all trace of you automatically or by request. Our system does it automatically after 90 days.

I think they're supposed to keep all our personal details on a separate secure encrypted server.

A few years back I asked Paxum how they would keep my personal details safe in the event of a hack and that's what they said.

In the UK if for example you bought a car on credit and they took a copy of your passport - they were ( a few years back ) required to destroy the copy after a short time. I think it was about 6 weeks.

So, I would imagine AW do the same as Paxum as part of these new GDPR requirements - So, I wouldn't worry about it.

I suddenly received 110 credits on my account and it says VAT refund for positioning and VAT refund for transfer requests. Does this mean that I need to pay VAT myself? I'm so confused.

They don't give a break down, they just refund it. Best to contact them if you're due a refund and haven't received it.

Then you've been paying VAT all along (unless you're in a group that has registered docs) and if you haven't had a refund, you need to contact them. Only applies if you're in an EU country.
