^^I love bread..with EVO, Balsamic spice...so good but moderation & timing for me:)

^ It makes me foggy-headed (and I don't have Celiacs). I literally plan my bread consumption around my need to use my brain (I eat it about once a week). It's not a sensitivity I noticed until I cut it out of my diet and tried to add it back in. Yow!

Strange, may be the yeast. Do other Carbs make you feel the same?

charlie61
03-22-2012, 08:33 PM
^ Nope. Only bread, and generally only fluffy bread (so wraps don't make me feel that way, but dipping bread in EVOO or similar will mess with my brain and even my eyesight the day afterwards. Classic gluten sensitivity symptoms. I noticed this after I got really healthy my sophomore year of college...I started eating less sugar and fat and added lots of 13 grain breads to my diet. The entire first semester, I could hardly even think. Research and elimination diet pointed to gluten. And the longer you avoid gluten, the more sensitive your body becomes to it. Crazy!

^^ I've never experienced any of those symptoms, but the only bread I actually enjoy is pita. I love it for wraps but mainly for hummus.

Shitloads of rice, beer, fish, and veggies in Japan!

This place is making me never want to touch anything nonorganic again. I already ate very clean but here my eyes and skin are glowing and I've lost fat in random lingering places. I didn't need to lose weight but I just look more...proportional. And I feel great.

Nah, just a vacation...I'm in the sf bay area.
Japan has crazy social rules and I'd imagine dancing here would be...interesting. Lol

I'm not sure if prostitution is technically legal here but I walked through the kabukicho (sex district) yesterday and it's def offered. Think theres a strip club in Roppongi (gaijin 'hood) w more foreign girls but haven't checked it out.

Today I had rice balls, sashimi, unidentified veggies, spicy yam, soy noni latte, sake, coffee jelly.

This thread has made me a bit interested in the paleo diet.
I'm vegan now, but it really sounds neat. Why can't paleo's eat beans?
I might try this someday, but the last time I ate meat I gained over 20 pounds after being vegan for 8 years. I don't want that to happen again, heh...

Can anyone recommend a good low calorie Starbucks drink? My favorites are the Iced White Mocha with half the syrup and no whip and the Caramel Macchiato, but they're both too fattening.

I'm doing a pole recital this Saturday, but I've been training for it for weeks now. Today, I did a session in the morning, so it wasn't an intense training day for me. I'm listing what I'm eating today, which has been a similar pattern for a while.

Breakfast: coffee w/ tiny bit of almond milk & splenda.
plain greek yogurt w/ fresh strawberries, a few almonds, some dried cranberries & a sprinkling of organic granola.
water

20 mins of cardio & half hour of stretching and core workout.

water
banana

40 minutes of pole practice
Vanilla muscle milk, water

On my way out to run errands
banana
some almonds
mozzerella cheese stick
water

come home
horchata
ground wheat/rye cracker w/ almond butter and bit of honey
water

dinner
lentil soup w/ added broccoli (carrots & onions in soup) & sprinkle of feta
2 slices smoked salmon
water

craving: Ben & Jerry's half baked ice cream

This has been my diet but usually more greens for a while now. I eat a lot of bananas, carrots, almonds & apples because they are easy to transport and to digest. Drinking a lot of muscle milk to keep my energy up for training, work and to make those damn bruises heal faster.

I've actually lost fat while eating so much. I don't really count calories. But since my dad is a diabetic and my blood sugar has been on the high end of normal, I try not to hit up the ice cream so much. Also, high cholesterol runs in my family. Mine is on the high end of normal and I rarely eat red meat:-( I do tend to put feta on everything, so I may start seeking out some soy cheeses or vegan cheese alternatives. Otherwise, ben & jerry's would be a staple of my diet:-)

Today, I ate beef stroganoff and Coke Zero for dinner.

I think I'll try this one. It would be less than 100 calories I think.

Genoveve,

I tried to roast some bones for the bone marrow because I read about the nutritional aspects, but that shit was soooo nasty and my house smelled like a dog food rendering plant for hours. SICK!

Genoveve
03-28-2012, 10:02 PM
I don't care for roasted/cooked marrow. When I can find grassfed/finished hormone/antibiotic-free cows I throw the marrow raw into fruit/veggie shakes and drink it. Doesn't have any flavor just a kind of chalky texture. Zer0 sugar cravings/refined carb cravings after I've eaten it.

Save those roasted bones for broth!

ETA - just reminded me that I have some chicken livers in the freezer!

Around 3:00 AM I got stoned and ate:

A Jack N the Box breakfast platter

For lunch I ate shrimp flavored Ramen and Coke Zero for the second day in a row. I don't think I'll eat anything else today. I really need to think of something different to eat because there's way too much sodium in Ramen.

Edit: I decided to eat a bit of Frosted Flakes with 2% milk.

^ Where do you get inspiration for your diet? I'm really curious to know your history, since you seem to eat a lot of incredibly healthy things (green smoothies, etc.), yet you look so young (from the pics you've posted on here before). Were you really unhealthy when you were younger and read something that pushed you in this direction? Or did you grow up in a super healthy family?

Well yesterday was fucked because I got a major Taco Bell craving due to wanting to try that dorito taco. So I had one of those and two volcano tacos. The dorito taco was yummy, I would definitely get it again. Aside from the three tacos I had a cup of coffee with sugar and cream and 2 blow pops at a friend's house. At least I didn't go totally crazy and binge on sugar which is what I usually end up doing when I allow any sort of cheat.

So far today I had a plain 3 egg omelet cooked in lard.

Were you really unhealthy when you were younger and read something that pushed you in this direction? Or did you grow up in a super healthy family?

My family fed me garbage as a kid but I was always very skinny despite subsisting off boxes of entenmann's donuts and ice cream sandwiches and happy meals. In high school my body started to change and I got an eating disorder...because my diet was so poor when I did eat I was sick and exhausted at just 15.

I experimented w veganism in college but when I broke up with a boyfriend it led to the same cycle of restricting, feeling like crap and then overloading on coffee and alcohol.

About two years ago at my thinnest (after a brief weekend cocaine habit) I was trying to get my life together and my doctor prescribed me an antidepressant for the first time in my life. I had avoided them after watching what they did to people but I was so desperate I tried it. It gave me a seizure after only two weeks of taking it (during which I felt nuts the whole time).

My body totally shut down...blood pressure plummeted, couldn't crap for weeks at a time, skin dried up. I thought I was gonna die. First I lost even more weight then I ballooned, developed bulimia...

It's been such a long process experimenting and finding what works for me and I'm still not done but blended foods w a lot of greens saved me and reset my system. I love kimberlysnyder.net/blog and the Ann wigmore philosophy. I try to alkalize and detox in the morning and be more intuitive w my later meals based on how I feel but gluten free, dairy free, food combining, and blended foods are the core guidelines I try to follow to stay well.

That being said I still let myself have things if I crave them (yesterday: papaya romaine smoothie for lunch, then a vegan burrito. Do I eat them regularly...no. But being dogmatic is just as bad as being too lax I think)

I'm 25...when things were really bad I was so angry about being sick and the meds that they gave me but it turned out to be a good thing because I learned how to take care of myself and I feel really good these days :D
