Is it ok to post recipes on here? I made this baked omelet today that was so much better than I expected it to be so I thought I'd share. Usually I avoid omelets because I don't eat cheese but this was really good without it.
1 pound spicy ground turkey sausage
1 medium sized sweet potato, peeled and diced
3 cups of fresh baby spinach, chopped
1 cup of mushrooms, chopped
12 eggs
Cook the sausage and sweet potato together in a pan until the sweet potato is tender. I had to add a little water to the pan while it was cooking to prevent it from burning because there was so little fat in the sausage.
Remove it from the heat, add the spinach and mushrooms, give it a stir and pour it into a pan greased with whatever you use. Nonstick spray, oil, whatever.
Whisk 12 eggs and pour them over the meat and vegetable mixture.
Bake at 375 for about 30 minutes.
It makes 12 servings and reheats very well.

Some of you would probably enjoy the book Food and Mood - about how the foods we eat affect chemicals in our brains that change how we feel.
It talks about why fasting doesn't work (you just end up starving your brain of the chemicals that make you feel happy, increasing the likelihood of bingeing), the unhealthy cycle of consuming caffeine/sugar to temporarily elevate mood, how you can eat to alleviate depression, tips for successful and long-term weight loss, etc.

Fasting/ intermittent fasting does allieviate mood swings- chemo and anxiety patients confirm it. I will attest two 2yrs strict targeted and standard keto diet to definitely helping in mood by eliminating chemical imbalances caused by sugar/insulin spikes as shown in pubmed articles and anecdotal evidence provided on anxiety forums.

I've heard similar things - it's an individual issue. The book is very interesting and very well-researched. :)

Lately I've been choosing carrots as my mindless snacking material. I bought a mandoline (http://www.amazon.com/OXO-Grips-Hand-Held-Mandoline-Slicer/dp/B000YDO2LG/ref=sr_1_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1397509817&sr=1-1&keywords=hand+held+mandoline) and slice the carrots super thinly, which makes them more palatable. It's great if I'm sitting down watching someone or surfing the web.
