Oh, and today I've had a turkey, havarti, lettuce, tomato, mustard and mayo sandwich on country white, and 2L of water. We haven't had dinner yet.

^I use almond milk for smoothies!! Just use frozen berries + almond milk + banana. YUM.

If Mediocrity wants to be really hardcore she could make her own almond milk from raw almonds, it's actually really simple and not too expensive (I don't think).

Med, I've been eating those almond milk dairy free yogurt cups, they are delicious, and you could totally throw that into a smoothie. :)

You might be able to get produce really cheap from a local co-op or farmers market, vs. going to Whole Paycheck.

I was just going to cut the smoothies with juice or something. I'm not eliminating dairy but I don't think I need it first thing in the morning... Grinding up almonds actually sounds pretty appealing. I got one of those ninja food processor sets. I bet it would work!!

I see why you'd say that. Two comments though:

1) I don't think a lot of people on here are posting EVERYTHING they've eaten today. People, for the most part, are only sharing the interesting parts of what they've eaten. (with exceptions, of course)

2) Eating too much of the wrong stuff can be just as hard on your body as eating far too little. So, while someone who posts "I ate six hamburgers" might make the anti-ana members happier, it really shouldn't.

I guess I misinterpreted the title and assumed that people were posting everything they ate. Still, there's a lot more guilt over healthy food going on here than I remember. As far as your second point goes I actually buy into the school of thought that severe calorie restriction correlates to longer lifespans while eating six hamburgers every day will kill you. Some of the posters are reasonable and I like reading for ideas but I'll stay away from the thread from now on. It's not triggering to me but it would have been when I was getting over my eating disorder years ago.

Yeah, I can understand that. Then again, the world is full of triggers. And in a free-speech forum, it'd be hard not to trigger some people along the way.

Mediocrity -- I have some tricks that help keep it manageable. I always buy fruit and produce at the Asian market because it's like half the price of mainstream grocery stores and they often have wild markdowns when a new shipment is due to come in.

I estimated my watermelon smoothie is about 600 calories and costs 3 or 5 bucks counting the avocado, greens, and half melon. I get coconuts for 1.30 at the Asian store (3.50 at whole foods!) and blen them w mint, chocolate, and spinach for a cheap and filling smoothie that is dairy- like.

I spend the most on overpriced salads and sushi when I'm on the go. Knowing where to buy produce is critical though, I could never afford to buy the same stuff at whole foods every week and like none of my stuff is organic.

I appreciate it! I'm allergic to coconut (anaphylaxis), but that is pretty innovative. I don't care about organic either, though I do like to buy local if I can.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Do you find Yerba makes you feel any different when you drink it? Good for your skin? Energy? Anything? Or do you just like drinking it? I'm curious. :)

Charlie -- weird synchronicity, I found this mate shop in Santa Cruz and am checking it out later...the real stuff from Argentina.

I love the loose leaf mate from a coffee shop in my hood, it makes me really peppy without the cracked out edge and I like the dusty taste combined w honey and almond milk. I used to really love coffee but it dehydrates the hell out of me and I have zero negative effects from mate.

The guayaki brand doesn't really do much for me. Hence my mission today to seek out the legit stuff. Will report back...

Today I have had a kale seaweed salad w tahini dressing and the best milkshake ever! Was made of
Coconut milk, almond butter, dates, vanilla bean.

You guys are reminding me of the time in my life when I made interesting meals! I guess I have been too lazy for it; so nowadays when I want something ethnic I just eat out :/ I promise I will get out of that habit!
Since I haven't eaten yet today, lets go with yesterday, which was a very unhealthy and undisciplined day:
Breakfast was toast with Nutella, which had me feeling cracked out.
Late lunch/ dinner was a treat of crab puffs and sushi, which I shared with my dog, lol.
Plus some random snacks of fruit at work.

I went balls out and had a cooking day! I'm stoked to say I only have had homemade food so far.

So today I've eaten:

-Indian red lentils and brown rice
-Peach/banana/strawberry smoothie w/ nonfat Greek yogurt, honey, and ground flaxseed
-Guacamole + multigrain chips
-Simple cooked red salsa
-Whole wheat banana strawberry muffins (w/ ground flaxseed)
-Improvised spicy Indian veg medley (channa seasonings, cabbage, kale, carrot, peppers, serrano chilies, potato, mushrooms, tomatoes)
-Cole slaw

I was torn between wanting Mexican food, Indian food, and healthy American comfort remix food
