Jeremy Kyle once did a reeeeeeeeally good one off about the sex industry, it was called something like, Jeremy Kyle confronts the sex industry, it was about private studios and escorting and porn films. and there was a documentary on channel 4 not so long ago about how much your body is worth? and there was a large part of it where the girl went to a strip club and spoke to the girls

There's also an animated film called "Princess". An ex missionary priest wages all out war on the adult industry after his drug addicted, porn star/hooker sister's death. Definitely an interesting look at the dark side of the industry, especially when there are children involved.

You forgot Middle Men.

It's based on Christopher Mallick of Paycom and Epassporte.
Any cam girl here knows of Paycom and Epassporte and that whole thing. Obviously this is centered around the internet site of the industry.
Good movie tho.

Powder Blue, though kinda gets stuck on stereotypes. It had a few good scenes but too dramatic for me for the most part

For a Good Time, Call is a recent one that's fucking hilarious! About phone sex operators

Sex Magic, a documentary about a sexual healer and the community he lives in. Sometimes really interesting, sometimes really fucked up.

Moll Flanders is an older movie about a prostitute in the 18th century

Quills, about an erotic novel writer in prison, also set in 18th or
19th century I think.

Oh, and what was the movie called with Scarlet Johanson in Japan. I think Bill Murray is in it...

^^ lost in translation

But it's completely unrelated to the adult industry.

I want to see more movies about the sex industry, made by women who worked in the sex industry.

I also feel like there's a skewed perspective in the whole of what's out there now- a heavy focus on the sex worker as a sex worker, but not as a human being with other facets of their lives in balance with their work (family, children, chores, school, other jobs, other hobbies, etc). I'd love to watch a movie or read a book that features a character whose life involves work in the industry, but then exploring how they manage non-sexual aspects of that job, including how they socialize, organize, seek personal happiness, and/or otherwise survive.

A dirty shame, by John Waters. hilarious:) The main character is Ursula Udders, a horny topless dancer whose parents try to keep her locked away in her room and away from the unsavory men at the club, such as " fat fuck frank" and all the other bikers at the club. Its basically an all out war between the "chosen ones" (sex addicts) and the "neuters" decency council who try all to keep them quiet and out of the way. My bff and I recomend it <3
Great movie! but you will have to see if they have it at schuler books, or have them order it because its not on netflix or at walmart. ( rated x)

"the center of the world" (center of the universe) was amazing! Saw it years ago, really wanna see it again.

On Netflix: "Jolene" prostitute who becomes a dancer who becomes a prostitute...its a good film, not all bright & shiny, but not a moral warning tale, some interesting human dynamics & the main girl in it is gorgeously adorable.

"hookers for Jesus" is obvious outreach, the title makes me giggle, documentary episide style, if thete were more diversity in the girls lives it would be better.

Deconstructing Harry was one of my favorites ever that had a hooker, but it's Woody Allen. I'm not a Woody Allen fan, but I thought Deconstructing Harry was hilarious as well as annoying, his best movie.
"Cookie Williams, you wanted me here at 8? So, tie you up, give you a bj, then hit you?"

Also Mighty Aphrodite, I didn't see it, but it won an Oscar or was nominated or something.

Book: The Sea Came In At Midnight, omg omg omg I loved this book, but you'd have to be in the mood for something strange. Protagonist is a chubby 18 year old girl, unknowingly the daughter of a violent porn producer, who works as a slave to a freak from the personal ads who misses his pregnant ex wife who used to be a pornstar/hooker/stripper, who then runs off to Tokyo to become a Memory-Prostitute.
Wow, yeah, I know! It sounds pretty hardcore from the description, but it is surprisingly tame and touching and funny.
End of spoilers.

Oh, also, The Girlfriend Experience if no one's mentioned it. Sasha Grey, real-life porn-goddess, plays a GFE hooker who gets...well, you'll just have to see it...

You will love Blue, a webisode series with Julia Stiles.

I'm actually tired of the sex-worker double-life movies that I seem to see everywhere. Why can't any of us just be sexworkers and not part-time students, moms, and accountants?

Bleh, this one looks way too cliche' and melodramatic for my taste
("Let daddy rescue you, little girl", ew),
but Kristen stewart is still weirdly gorgeous.

There is sort of a docu series of movies, that played on HBO and SHOWTIME a whole bunch they are all done by the same guy. He follows workin girls around and interviews them, and one about pimps.
Hookers At the Point (original)
the another with almost the same name Hookers At the Point Again or something like that.
Hookers of atlantic city(or something like that)
hookers of honululu about tranny street wwalkers (again not sure of the exact wording)
Pimps Up Hoes Down

another docu by someone else that was on the same channels is.
"Very Young Girls" about underaged prostitutes in NYC and a shelter that tries to help them.

A mainstreamish type movie that's good about a female cop that tries to stop a bunch of security contractors from trafficking serbian/croatia girls is preety good. It's based of a true story(look up dyn corp traffiking)
I think it's called "The Whistle blower"

Also Netflix: "house of pleasures" (think someoneelse mentioned this too) I watched this last night, its not nearly as cheesy as their cover image looks. Its actually all in french w sub titles, about the girls in a late 1800s brothel, given the social dynamics of the time its nothing any of us would relate to (ie; wishing for marriage to get u out of sex work) its definetly something of a noir, very serious, & theres a few intense almost horror scenes so not for the squeemish. Aside from that its beautifullt filmed, the costumes & decor are amazing & the acting is good. Dont watch it before going to work, like I did last night, was definetly hard to switch from that mood into party club mode.

Call Me: The Rise and Fall of Heidi Fleiss

This probably hard to find movie. It was made for TV type movie aired on USA Networks. I remember watching it on that channel when it came out. The actress played Heidi (Jamie Lynn from The Sopranos) one of the only reason why watched the movie, but I must say she did good job portraying Heidi.

Found another good one! Netflix 'after porn ends'
Documentary style, interviewing a good range of people, one woman is in Mensa, another guy is a good painter, tgey interview some if their kids who are articulate & well-adjusted, this is contradted eith peopke (mostly women) who never should have gotten into the industry, got lured in & exploited, got addicted & ended up finding Jesus & starting outreach stuff. Theres a historian with some grim (and fairly offensive)views on anyone in the adult industries (we are all restless twisted souls) and a professor who talks about the hypocrisy of society. All in all, its a great film, id really recommend it for newbies (if you identify with the more fragile women who regret it all.stay out of the industry) and to girls thinking about what life might be like after they retire. Theres alot more overlap in the mentality & experiences of porn stars & dancers than I realized.
Im surprised there arent more interesting Hollywood style flicks about dancers...itd be cool to see one about 4 or 5 girls working in the same club and follow their lives over the course of a month (where tgey arent all single mothers/run aways etc).

I'm surprised no one's mentioned Sucker Punch. It is flawed, and a wild fantasy (or Hellish nightmare), but still in many ways the best strip film I've seen.

This review here makes all my arguments better than I can.

Player's Club is one of my favorite movies!! I first watched it when I was a kid, lol. A lot of the movies I've seen have already been posted, but here are a few that haven't.

Movies I have seen:

Yellow (2006) - A foreigner who dreams of becoming a dancer is lured into the adult industry. DUN DUN DUN!!!

Feel (2006) - From what I can remember, this is a light-hearted movie about a few men in an Asian massage parlor.

Confessions of a Gogo Girl - A ridiculous Lifetime movie that's supposed to be serious, but it's full of lulz!

Irina Palm - 50-year-old lady gives hand-jobs through a glory hole in an Aussie strip club.

Movies I haven't seen yet:

Co-ed Call Girl - Another Lifetime movie starring Tori Spelling

Phariah - I believe it's about a lesbian teenager, but I just remember seeing a stripper in the trailer. Lol

Meet Monica Velour - Kim Catrell plays a washed up Porn Star.

Ill throw in another...its on netflix; "a woman is a woman" 1960s, french with subtitles. About a strip tease dancer who wants to have a baby. Its not a serious film & the music got on my nerves...but it is interesting to see the club set up of 1960s france.

I haven't seen these mentioned yet:

-Mysterious Skin (fictional movie about a male teen prostitute)

-Whores' Glory (on Netflix streaming - a documentary about the sex industry in Taiwan, India, and Mexico)

-Girl Model (on Netflix streaming - a documentary about how young teens are exploited in the modeling industry)

-Portraits of a Naked Lady Dancer (a low-budget but well-made documentary about strippers)
