I think you're right, re: the diff btwn manyvids and C4S.

"porn" type clips do NOT sell on C4S. I've had a store for 5 years now, so I know. I've tried. You gotta have a fetish twist to your porn in order for it to sell.

With manyvids, tho--it seems to be MAINLY porn. I'm shooting stuff with my boyfriend now, and I put all of that on manyvids or youkandy (which btw is a good site to sell stills.)

I have been using c4s as my main income source for about a year and a half now, and I have noticed a big dip the last 2 months, especially this month. However, that being said, I have also been way less diverse in the types of clips and categories that I am posting in the last 2 months. I have to admit, I have gotten a bit lazy. I do think something is going on overall though, because when I used to dip like this, briefly, I could get my numbers and sales back up again, WAY faster than I am experiencing (especially this month). That being said I still hold c4s as my favorite clip site. And I am totally confident that if I work harder at it, and experiment with some new categories, I can get things jumping again. I know that on a lot of the blogs and forum sites like this, where I occasionally stop by and read ...many, many people struggle to get a livable income right off the bat with c4s. My experience has been different. I definitely have to put in 8 hour days frequently (moreso now that I am no longer a novelty), but I have always made enough money to live off of from c4s alone ..and I am no supermodel or anything (although my monthly expenses are only about $1500/ month). I also do post a lot of clips, sometimes 5 - 8 new clips a day. Although some of these are somewhat easy clips, such as tooth brushing etc. I don't want to insult anyone who has not had brilliant luck with this site, despite working hard, but I do want to reassure people that it's possible to make a living off of clips alone. I have also noticed, that for me, the types of clips which sell well on MV..pretty much get me nowhere on c4s. Personally, I do better on c4s, with a mix of pure fetish and clips where I don't even necessarily take off my clothes. Someone else was commenting on this a few pages back, and my experience has been similar...getting naked, or not, does not affect my c4s sales significantly. However, I have found the opposite to be true of manyvids. These are just my personal experiences though, that I am being honest about. Everyone has different strengths :) But hang in there new girls/ people, and/ or those of you who are newish, because it really is an awesome site that offers a ton of potential and fun :) I have also done pretty much the opposite of what many advice blogs recommended...I rotate and post in a really wide variety of categories. That being said, so far I have stayed away from too much BDSM and Femdom, because I know to really do well in those areas you do, generally, need to put a lot of focus and attention into just those areas, and not be too scattered. Hope this info helps..happy clip making ladies. Also I have never had a late or short payment, but I am USA, and it appears most of the payment issues are occurring with wire transfer. I started with checks, and moved to ACH, and have never had any problems (but like I said I am inside the US).

After complaining that my c4s sales were down last month, this month has been my best month ever. I actually got a $230 order--someone who ordered a ton of my clips. I am still wary, tho, that it's gonna end up in a chargeback but so far so good.

I was complaining to a friend who runs a successful spanking store that I've never done that well on C4S. He went through my store and gave me advice. Here are the things I changed:

1) He told me to make my main category MILF. It's the 2nd most popular category after Taboo.

2) He told me to make all my clips high res. Post a high res MP4, low res MP4 and WMV for all clips. That's it.

3) I've been taking my older stuff and re-editing it to be higher res--it's a great filler to keep your store updated when you have no fresh content. Esp the stuff that doesn't sell.

4) I've been tracking my stats and looking to see which categories I get the most traffic from and those are also where I've been getting the most sales recently, so I think I need to shoot more in those categories.

Speaking of stats..the 2nd highest place sending me the most traffic?? MY OWN WEBSITE.

I have a "videos" page that lists my clips and links to them on C4S.

Clearly I need to do a better job updating that page, if it's sending me THAT MUCH traffic!!!

Can you really post three versions of a clip (HD mp4, SD mp4, and wmv)? I've only been posting two (HD mp4 and SD wmv). I thought we could only have two versions.

I do see some people with four versions (HD/SD, mp4/wmv).

We can have more than 2 versions of one clip

This is what they said in 2 notices:

In an effort to help our producers when uploading content, please note the most popular and preferred file formats by customers are: MP4 and WMV
The maximum allowed is TWO (2) FORMATS per Unique Clip.
WARNING: Do not spam updates by adding miscellaneous clip formats. Studios that abuse clip updates to be re-listed in the “Recently Updated” lists will have their clips deleted from the servers without notice.

CLARIFICATION
To clarify yesterday's broadcast message regarding clip formats, please note that the message was seen by ALL producers, it was not directed at any individual studios. Broadcast messages are sent to ALL open studios on the Clips4Sale network of sites.
Our intension was not to force any studio owner to use only MP4 or WMV. Our recommendation is to try to only use two (2) formats per unique clip. However, you can do HD and SD versions of each format which would equal four (4) clips, if you feel the need to offer more options. Or if you shoot in MOV, you could do MOV and MP4, in both HD and SD as described above.
What we are trying to avoid are duplicate clips added in obsolete formats for the sole purpose of spamming the main and category list pages.
We are trying to explain the importance of correctly uploading formats which are not only relevant to current technology, but also directed toward the changes we are making behind the scenes at Clips4Sale which will enable customers to get clear and correct results from their searches. Our ultimate goal is to increase your visibility as a studio when a customer searches for the content you produce and allow the customer to get the best results when they visit Clips4Sale.
PLEASE NOTE: You do not need to delete anything currently in your studio. It is not retro-active this is just a recommendation as we move forward.
We know that some studios have been using multiple versions to increase their time on the recently updated lists, we have noticed others do it because they are trying to stretch out their content, and some studios also do multiple formats of the same clip believing that our search tools only use the main CLIP CATEGORY and disregard the RELATED CATEGORIES - which is incorrect.

Might be a dumb question but just checking - when people talk about posting 5 or 6 clips a day or whatever they say - is that 5 or 6 *filmed* clips? So it might add up to 20 updates (if you are posting up to 4 hd/sd wmv/mp4 versions of each filmed clip)?

Or does that mean 5 or 6 clips versions a day?

Ladies who have more than 1 store on C4S, how did you do? I'd like to open a second store but still have some question. Is it possible to manage the two stores with only one admin page or do I have to log out and log in everytime? and is it possible to transfer a clip from store A to store B, or should I re-upload everything? Thank you!

I have more than store and find it works better for me. You have separate admins and I use a different browser for each. You can't transfer clips...you have to take them down off one store then put them up on the new one (it's been a long while since I did it). Some people have asked Studio Support to transfer them but that can take time.

C4s is lately offering an Intremark prepaid MasterCard as an alternative payout method for EU countries. Has any of you chosen this method? If there is somebody, can you please describe your experience with it? Is it worth it? etc.

Thanks!

Hello,
After waiting way too long for the payment (still no payment even for the month of may here),I asked Gia to send me this card. She said she did,but it would take about 3 weeks to receive it.That was 2 weeks ago..so if I will get the card and I won't have the wire yet,I will use that card and let you know how it works..the fees etc.

I'm waiting for my card too! I hope all the payment problems end here...
I'm burnt, I have lost a lot of money in banks fees (not just from C4S) And I'm not earning enough last months, so with the high fees is like working for peanuts...
I'll let you all know what happens.

By the way, Are there another Spanish girls here? I feel I'm the only one :( cannot be possible.

I think you should contact support via live chat, give them the order number and ask them if the guy has a history (previous customer) with C4S. If he does, you can have a better peace of mind. If he doesn't, and he's a brand new customer, C4S might have put a block on the transaction. I've noticed that *sometimes* when a new customer does a large clip order, C4S will put a block on the downloads and give the customer a message to contact C4S. Then the customer has to fax in some proof that they are who they are (they only have to do this ONCE) and then they can download the clips. OR, if they refuse, C4S will refund the customer.

In fact, all first time customers placing an order of $150 or more will have their purchase put on hold until they sent additional verification. C4S said there is only a small percentage of real bouncers because of that. I don't know, but I think it's a good method to prevent fraud, despite the possible missed orders.

Is their application process quite fast? I've heard it's a way better site than manyvids and I'm hoping that it can bring me some decent income. I have about 12 different clips to start my store out with, so I am very excited. The only thing that made me hesitant from signing up was the W9 form.. but I reasoned with hey most cam sites and payout methods make you use your social anyway, so what's the difference? hah

That's not something people can really give an answer to. It depends on if you have any kind of deductions, tax breaks, additional income that's already taxed, dependents, spouse, insurance, if you've bought a house, etc.

You can use this: http://www.moneychimp.com/features/tax_brackets.htm but that's not always going to be 100% accurate. Check out the TAX thread in Camming Connection. It's stickied to the top.

With this internatinal payment delays we are talking with somebody who lives in USA in order to use her account to get paid but we don't know if that could get her in trouble or something with the IRS and she has a very good income (non adult job).

That's going to make it hard on her. I don't know a lot about taxes but when she gets her 1099 tax form it's going to be a big hassle for her because your income will show on her earnings so she'll have to say she paid you, maybe as employees? I'm not sure how it works because I don't pay anyone, but it would be a lot of hassle. Especially making sure she gives youb100% of your money and how would you handle chargeback?

A lot of questions people are asking are things you can google and find the answer to. There's even a Payoneer thread you can read. Here's what google found: https://payoneer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/6007/~/what-are-the-fees-associated-with-the-card%3F

Make sure you search the forum before posting in threads not meant for it, C4S isn't offering Payoneer to everyone yet, so it's not really relevant here and makes it super hard for new people to find important and relevant information when there's page after page of off topic questions.

Chargebacks are something no site has control over. You're thinking of refunds. Chargebacks are when the client goes directly to their bank or credit card company and says that charge was fraudulent, often it is, but sometimes they're just being the scum of the earth.

So I am wondering - am baffled in fact - about formats you upload in.

Couple weeks ago, I was at an event where reps from C4S were presenting. I asked on advice re. multiple formats/versions of the same video being uploaded. This was highly discouraged.
The format recommended was MP4.

So since then, I've uploaded several clips in MP4 (I was previously uploading wmv). Now, my sales have dipped significantly.

Has anyone else encountered a similar issue? I may be worrying about something that is just coincidence. Thanks

I too started doing MP4 format this year and the quality is so much better.

The thing I don't understand with all the different formats is....are people doing it to actually benefit the customer? Or are they doing it for the little traffic boosts and so they can post the same clip in several different categories, just different formats (because I see that all the time). I don't know.....it almost feels a little like cheating the system in a way. But I know, C4S approves it and it's okay. Just thinking out loud.... :P

justsometwat
09-01-2016, 03:24 PM
I think that's exactly what a lot of people are doing. There's no need for 5x formats of something, unless one is a hq and one is a low quality because it's a smaller file size.

I think its spammy, probably why they don't allow more than two anymore!

It's probably going to change within the next 6 months, but currently I use it as a hybrid of exposure (what you said), customer reach (my sd wmvs are very popular because the file size is so much smaller than hd mp4) and for the fact that many of my clips could indeed just as well be posted in 4 or even 6 categories - which one to choose?

So that extra exposure is not for the main page, it's so that people interested in ballet flats actually get a chance to notice a clip that would have never appeared there, because I would not have posted it in ballet flats above the other choices if I just had 1 choice.

Yes i's spammy, okay. But it's a necessity for many clips and this is the system we were handed. It's going to change to a system where you choose several categories but only upload 1 clip which will then show in different categories and be delivered in the format the customer chooses on the go. A little like manyvids category wise and I believe iwc are delivering in different formats. So a hybrid of that.

We'll have to see if the new system works better or worse.. I sense more competition and shorter exposure times.

So what I've always wondered is, what is the point of related categories? What does that do? You know what I'm talking about, right? When you are filling out the form for a new clip and you can choose different related categories. Is that just for our individual stores....meaning that if a related category is Dangling and a customer clicks on that, it will show him all the other Dangling clips I have. Or does it have another purpose?
