One of the people that had an issue with corrupted videos sent me this: "
Just to let you know, customer service at C4S has been remarkably unresponsive to my inquiries. Not your problem .. I'll continue to work through it with them."
I fixed the video he had an issue with but told him he needed to let c4s know it was broken and that I reuploaded it and he needed a link to redownload it to make sure they knew there was an issue with their system.
He spends a lot of money on me, I can imagine that he spends a lot of money on others as well. He's also very respectful
So having him say that is a disappointment.

I've decided instead of just complaining about low sales I'm gonna switch things up and try doing longer videos, mine usually are on the short side but hey if Im hardly selling I may as well make more on the few sales I do get!

4-5 mins? Oh heck YES make them longer! lol Mine are around 8-12 minutes and the longer ones sell just as well as the shorter ones. I do have some that are 5-8 minutes but I find that more often than not, my clips end up being longer.

When I first started I was making 3 to 4 minute clips. I now try to have them be anywhere between 8 to 20 minutes long. If it's a category that I tend to sell well in I try for the longer lengths.

ahhh thanks guys! I feel like cause of my main category it could get boring but then I thought I can just change up angles and such and edit it together
:D
oh also C4S helped me get my files :) all of them I should say - they where really helpful :)

I use them so guys can hear my voice. I use gifs too or just a still image depending on the clip.

I have done so much testing with previews on / off. I compared months or even several months and I must say, although the top studios utilize longer previews, it did not make a significant difference in average earnings for me. If any, there was a slight tendency AGAINST previews. So I just do the easiest thing now: no preview and I even stopped doing gifs and mostly just post a picture. I did not like the loading time on gifs, although I never made them much bigger than 1Mb (since that was the max on tumblr for a gif to still be played back. Later it was 2mb. Gifs >2mb would just be still images. I just read that it's 3mb now: https://unwrapping.tumblr.com/post/86827971137/gif-size-limit-increase-2-mb).
However, I think that this works for me due to the fact that I have many returning customers and they already know what they'll get. They won't be depending on a preview or gif to make a purchase decision.
I have been saying since forever that longer videos are important, but the consensus in this thread seemed to be around 8 minutes. I never agreed with that, but my opinion is not the only one, so I did not get into that. Now with the ideas about making longer clips, I just want to say: do it.
I throw in really short clips to cater to those men who want a quicker solution and because a $2.99 clip has slightly higher potential to place high in the individual clip top list. A high placement there is directly influencing sales, according to my experiences. Short clips are mostly cheaper and cheaper does sell more often on average, but 1 video at an hour length at $60 outweighs 10-20 sales of $3-6 videos.
I just had a bad / non experience with that early on and then it took me years to go back to making long clips. I had a 40 or so minute clip when I started and it never sold, so I stuck to shorter clips. When a customer ordered a 2 hour custom (which I made for free back then) I put that up in my store and sold it like 5 times, that was the first time I experienced the power of long clips.
Mix it up, go very long and very short. I would not make all the videos about the same length (lets say 10 minutes). In my personal experience, that is not the best method. There are many other opinions of course. Everyone is making their own experiences with c4s and what works for one does not automatically work for another. It's super strange but that's also the exciting part :)

Hi everyone. First i need to say sorry for my english. I read a lot of those thread and help me a lot with my store which is 1 months old so thank you all. But i have 1 question, can i send messages to my buyrs or any other feedback with them? I just want to say them thanks and ask what they want to see from me in future, ofcours if they like what they buy and if they didn't satisfied what i must change. Good luck to everyone. :)

Yes, if they share their email with you it will be on your account. Go to your store admin & click "Email".
If they get way too specific with their "suggestions", then they are trying to take advantage. Something like "I liked your foot video but more toe pointing please" is ok but if they send you a whole story of a brand new clip, maybe charge them to make a custom video.

Longer previews can run the risk of getting the customer "off", they get what they wanted then leave without saying thanks (buying). I've noticed if we even shave 10 seconds off a video preview to 50 or 45 seconds (which we used to give a minute as standard), some would complain. Some of which it turned out, had very LITTLE of a buying history or habit.
I think it depends on the clip type and genre. For some, 10-20 seconds may be perfectly enough to show what you need without giving too much away, especially on shorter clips.

I use the preview that you can enable on upload...10 seconds from the start. It's enough for them to hear my voice.

For what it's worth, I'm a guy that regularly buys off C4S, and video previews are pretty important for me buying a clip unless I've bought from you before or I'm hooked hard enough by just the description. However, preview length? Totally unimportant to me, I just want to know that the audio and video quality is decent. So, 10 seconds where you're speaking a little (if it's the type of clip with talking) is plenty in my opinion.
Not saying I know best, clips are an area of expertise for a lot of you, just a bit of input.

Guys I'm doing it!
After summer, I am decreasing my regular job with another day a week. Since a few years I work from home one day a week, with my own (mostly unpaid) side projects - since I started on C4S this year it's been that 1 day + weekends and evenings that I've been working on clip making, posting 1 new clip a day (in two formats so two updates/day). I've learned so much. So now I dare to take one more day off a week to use on C4S, so that I can actually enjoy some free time on weekends every now and then :)
I am only a few months in, and this month has been bad sales-wise but it's mostly bc I've been sick twice, like last weekend when I should have made this week's clips. After five days of not posting, sales and traffic have dropped to zero and I am out of several lists. But still I have seen that I can make enough to afford "quitting my day job" (if only just two days/week) It's more work hours (than my day job) to make up for that loss of 25% of my income, but it is so worth it! It's fun, creative and on my own terms. I enjoy every part from shooting to editing my store. I love my day job, but it is very intense and I commute 3 hours/day. The last year, I've been exhausted because of it.
I know some of you work full time with adult work but for me this is a big step and I can't wait :)
Thank you everyone! Without Sinna and all of you contributing to this thread I would probably not even have tried C4S, and for sure a lot of things would have taken a lot more time to figure out - time that I don't have.

its so nice having a large order that basically doubles your earnings of the month - turning the month from your worst to average in terms of earning :D
Anybody else having a bunch of orders that are immediately refunded? Been happening a lot this month. Woke up this morning and got two more orders that were instantly refunded. What sucks is that C4S doesn't let you know that they refunded the orders. You have to go into your "run report" to find out. This happened to me before a few months ago and then no fraud orders these past few months but this month the fraudulent orders have returned.

Are wmv and mp4 still the go to formats? Do you think uploading a third on mov (what I'm working on them and saving them in) would be overkill?

Have you noticed anything unusual about the orders? I'm willing to bet they were all from new customers (I mean guys who hadn't previously purchased from you). Are they all from the same state or country/area? Are the orders for the same type of clips? (same fetish). I am wondering if it's ONE person who is using different (stolen) credit cards.....

The first time it happened last year it was all the same type of clips (CBT and Ballbusting). This time it's all different types of clips but about half are of CBT and Ballbusting variety. Can't tell if it's new customers or not. The orders are from all different places (Germany, Durham NC, Brooklyn NY, Vilas NC).

I had two chargebacks this month from NV. I have had 2 refund and 2 chargebacks so far this year. I've started getting more, I hadn't had any from 2011 - the VERY end of 2015 when I got my first one, I've had a total of 14 CB/refunds since then. I get super angry when it happens, so I am glad it doesn't happen often.

1 refund, 1 chargeback this month. Both single sales. And I just want to go on the record by saying that April was a total SHIT month and I can't wait to move on to May! I honestly don't remember the last time I've had such a slow month.

I've had 4 refunds this month with two of them happening last night. Thankfully they weren't huge sales. I've had about $35 in refunds this month. Thankfully my sales have been good this month so it's not hurting me (made more money this month than last month) but it's sure does annoy me.

Just go for WMV and MP4, C4S prefer us to use 2 formats...the MOV clips I had rarely sold. You can upload different sizes in those 2 formats though.

Random question- why are the auto previews that C4S makes of such lower quality than the clip it comes from? I've been watching them and even the ones made from my true HD clips are very fuzzy.

Late last year I had over $100 of my CBT and Ballbusting clips refunded and charge backed. It wasn't one big order either. It was a bunch of orders all through the month. It made me stop filming those clips and since then no refunds or chargebacks. I filmed two new clips in that category this month and put them up and the refunds and charge backs return. Looks like I'm taking another break from those categories.

Yes! I've had A LOT of refunds in the last 30 days. $336 worth! (my 60% amount) I contacted C4S and they said its the same person doing it over and over with stolen credit cards. They have ordered like 6x from me so far and all the $ got refunded. They have been using various names, and various locations and various IP addresses. C4S said they are disabling the download links before they can download the clips. They have ordered a majority of my cuckolding and forced bi clips repeatedly.

What is your take on previews, I tend to disable them and make Gifs.
I do a mix. Generally, my HD format clip receives a gif preview, followed by a still image for the SD version. About every 10ish clips, I turn on the preview feature.
People with slower computers/download speeds get to enjoy quick loading still photos, while people worried about higher quality products can see the gifs and anyone who wants to "see" the content, can check out one of the available previews. Using Gifs definitly impacted my sales, not really sure about the previews but I have read on a few forums where customers wouldn't buy from a new studio without seeing some type of preview.
I'm super chatty in my clips & most have a plot or the like, I think the type of content you are creating has more to do with what type of preview/photo option will drive the most sales. A 'story' is easier to preview & leave the viewer wanting than just acting out a particular fetish, with different backdrops.

I was going over my end of month sales stuff and looking at previous years for April/May. I noticed that in 2015 my April sales were down and my May sales were great. And then in 2016 it was the opposite, my April sales were great and my May sales were low. And now in 2017 my April sales were low (like 2015) and my May sales.....well, I'll let you know on May 31st! lol I was reading my notes for May 2016 and I had mentioned that we were talking on this thread about C4S making all sorts of changes to the store fronts mid-month and we thought that might be affecting sales (when aren't they making changes?! lol) And that was also when I noticed a dip in sales....correlation? Anyway, I hope April showers bring May....$ales! ;-)

I'm almost two months into my C4S venture and averaging $5-6 in earnings per day, with about a 50% revenue increase from March to April. At least currently, the primary factor (besides desirable content, of course) seems to be consistency of updates. Whenever I fail to add a new vid for a couple days, traffic counts drop pretty noticeably.
Still moderately encouraged by the start-up, though.

Apparently there was a glitch so emails from one day are actually coming in late. The sales are from the day prior. I checked, and everything balances.

If you buy the license to distribute and sell them and have all the model release forms etc. then you can do it. You would have to have a solid plan though to make this profitable.

I had no sales overnight then this morning a few sales came through at the same time even though the email time stamps were out of order. Previously the issue was that the emails weren't coming through but sales were. Now it seems neither sales nor emails are coming through as they're supposed to. Strange, considering my sales have been very very slow. Feels like I'm not getting all my sales.

I think my sales emails and admin stuff are not broken. I wrote on the facebook page on adult-income about a new picture in the order emails (a beacon). I think that could mean they are "messing" with the email system and you feel the results. In my opinion, they added that yesterday or the day before.
No, I think yesterday, at least for me.
A thing that I DO have though is: I had 2000 visitors this morning. Absolute overkill. Only 1 sale though and that is lower than average for me for +-12 hours. If I had my average visitor / sales ratio with that, it would have been about 20 sales :O

Whenever I add a clip it's automatically checking the box for "Make available in my Member Area" even though I don't sell a Membership. This has happened before, and last time it happened the site automatically set a membership rate for me & someone bought it. That's the only reason I caught it. So make sure your member box isn't checked when you're adding clips.
