Because when I look at a store, if I see duplicate versions of the same clip clogging-up the list of clips it puts me off wanting to scroll down to checkout the full range of clips, as you have to experience the annoyance of a duplicate for each..
You can also stagger them to alternate, but that may not work since you release so few per month

Most studios do this so guys on C4S are used to it. I mean it can't hurt to try and see if it brings you more exposure.

What is very annoying, and IMO looks awful is when there are too many copies of the same clip. I'm pretty sure rules state only 2 versions max of each clip, that to me means either an HD & SD OR two different formats but some stores do 4 of each, I've even seen 5 versions of the same clip back to back. When I see that in a store not only does it look rubbish but they are breaking the rules. Correct me if I'm wrong regarding the rules please!
Two versions is perfectly normal and of course with scheduling you can upload them back to back or days or weeks apart depending on how you want the store to look. But it's the ideal way to hit two categories.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, C4S needs to trim the redundant categories. There are too many of them. What's the difference between Femdom and Female Domination? There is a Ball Sucking and Ball Sucking/Licking categories! Do we really need Boobs Bouncing, Breast Bouncing, and Bouncing Boobs!?!?!? Trimming the redundant categories would stop the need of some studios making multiple versions of clips.

They have to know this, which makes me wonder if they did it for a reason....like SEO keywords or something?? Don't you think?

I really don't think so...people would just ask for a category and they would add it. The boob/breast bouncing ones show how absolutely ridiculous the situation is. They did start insisting that you had so many to add to the new category (I think).

Well for a start "Femdom" is inclusive of people who identify as femme regardless of if they're female or not (IE: femme leaning nonbinary Doms) whereas "Female Domination" is not, and some people who are female prefer to use the latter or both.
If there are multiple oddly specific categories it's usually because buyers use them.

I asked them one time for a new category and they said I needed ten unique clips to start it off, I didn't have that many so they didn't add it.

This is correct Sophia! I checked with support actually a few weeks ago and this is what they said. What they did also say is that they may be changing it soon to only two versions.
I personally don't see a problem with uploading a few versions, I think the guys are used to it, and it gives you more access to traffic? makes sense to utilize that : )

Apologies I thought it was only two versions. Guys search for what they want anyway, they have to with so much choice on the site. I do like two versions personally, then at least I get 5 different clips on the front page of my store.

"any video converter". It's easy to use, you can rip audio to wav or mp3 as well which is cool if you want a video to sell as audio only. Just double check the settings to make sure the bitrate and stuff is all correct.
Also, when you install make sure you don't accidentally install the virus protection or chromium

Also, multiple versions (within the rules) isn't only useful for getting visibility, but also it is useful for customers. I think most buyers prefer mp4 these days, but some like wmv. More than format size is an issue. Some people have slow connections. Some want the clearest video possible. Some want to play it on their phones. So I offer 3 versions, the highest resolution 1080p that I can offer, a lighter HD version in 720p and a mobile version. To each their own. I agree that it looks better to have one clip of each but *shrug*. It's so easy to get lost in the vast ocean that is c4s.

I have no idea why C4S doesn't adopt the method that Kinkbomb uses. You can list all the categories that your clip should be in and when you post that clip it shows up in all those category pages and you only have to upload one high quality file and they then convert that file into the format and size the buyer wants when they purchase it.

Well the only reason I mentioned it is because I believe they were encouraging clip producers to use keywords with their clip description (for SEO reasons). I thought this was in one of the podcasts.
Years ago when I had my paysite, I had someone do some SEO landing pages for my site. And they would use several variations of words (similar to bouncing boobs, tit bouncing, woman bouncing her breasts...etc.etc) in the text, which was all apart of the SEO. So that's why I mentioned it. I just can't believe the folks at C4S are that unaware of the categories already available and I guess I was giving them the benefit of the doubt....
Just out of curiousity, I did a Google search for "Boob Bouncing Clips"......C4S's category was #4 in the ranking. "Bouncing boobs clips" came up as #9 for the C4S category.

Those categories were added long before they started pushing keywords...and it's better for us to be adding them than upteen categories for the same fetish.
I've requested a new category before and so has one of my customers...you would just email them and they would just add it. It was done very quickly and I don't think they checked at all what already existed or gave it any real thought. That process has changed since, I expect because of the situation now.

Can I ask, those of you who upload daily do you keep the same schedule during Christmas & New Year? Do you find much difference sales wise over the holidays compared to usual? I've found that if it's slow and I keep uploading videos that those videos tend to not get noticed and bought later on. Basically those videos just become a waste because no one bought them when it was slow and with all the new videos going up they've managed to miss them. I'd assume that is not really typical of most studios as I have had quite a number of videos that have never sold a single time. I don't know if that happens to anyone else, but that's why I slow down my uploads during typically slow months.
I opted to upload 28 videos for 23 of the days of this month to avoid uploading on Christmas Eve/Day. All of my themed videos are scheduled to go up before their respective days.

Thank you, that's my concern too. I upload a lot and yes quite a few never sell but I prefer to keep going as if I stop I lose my mojo. I was going to keep going through the holiday days but what I may do is upload some simpler shorter clips to keep eyes on my store, rather than stop completely but also not to waste the 'good stuff' that takes me more time to film. I don't ideally want to stop because all that does is slide you further down the pages. Agh! :D
I thought it was a bit of a silly question but glad I asked and would love to hear more opinions. No doubt someone now will say the opposite lol!

I've seen similar. If a video doesn't hit the average sales mark on release, it's probably not going to over time. Marking the old entry on sale and promoting it extra doesn't seem to help.
If a video has NEVER sold, I'd suggest taking it down and reposting it as a "special discount", "on sale" or "markdown". It doesn't have to be a huge discount, just something to draw attention to.
Themed compilations are another way to try and re-market older content, whether it sold well or not. We've repackaged some footage and geared it towards and different but related niche, and a lot of them did well (for recycled footage).

In the first few months of 2019 I was planning on going through all sales on iwc and c4s and finding videos that sold 2 times or less and remove them and re-release them to bring attention to them again. It's not like they were bad videos, just wrong time to have been uploaded I guess. I'll probably price then at $1/min so like a $2 discount but it should still be alright.

Yes, there will be a feature where you can bundle clips easily, so you don't have to make a huge file to re-upload. I think this sounds great and hope it will look neat and be easy to use. Some features work really slow or defective for me, like the new preview creator.

I haven't sold or bought from kinkbomb but them converting that one file sounds awesome to me. When it comes to multiple categories, I guess that C4S want to make sure studios only post in categories that truly fit, so maximum 4 and you have to make an effort to do so. Otherwise, categories would be filled with clips that is a far stretch from the theme. Kinkbomb has very few categories in comparison and they are well defined, so easier to control if a post really fits. C4S could maybe have a limit of 4 or so categories that your clip goes into, but some clips really only fit in one category.

Does anyone know how much smaller than the stated maximum permitted sizes your preview clip actually has to be for it to be able to upload onto C4S please??
As they say 80MB & 60seconds, I spent 2 hours slashing the quality of my preview to lower it to 78.9MB & 58.97seconds, but yet C4S still keeps saying that that's too large a file!! :@
AlyssaJ
12-28-2018, 07:35 AM
I've noticed that C4S (and also some of my own computer programs) often rounds up the file size a little bit making files just under the limit still "too large". I can't say any exact numbers, but on my gif:s it's about 5-10%. I would try speeding up/trimming some frames off to maybe 75MB (instead of taking the quality down too much) and try again, then ask support. It might also be the length that is added by a second or so between programs.

Hello and thnakyou very much. :)
I tested it and foundout that what you said is correct, the file size shown or files on my laptop is different to the way Clips4Sale classes the sizes.
(The fault is with c4s, as i've used MediaInfo to check the file, and they show the same as laptop, only c4s over-sizes the file).
I have gotten the preview sorted (57seconds / 76MB is the max c4s can handle), but for the actual video itself I have a dillema...
The file on my laptop shows as 3.82GB, I uploaded it as a file onto my storage libary on c4s, and it uploads but shows as 4.10GB
But because the max permitted size by c4s is meant to be 4.00GB, even though i've been able to upload a 4.10GB file, will my customers actually be able to download it correctly even though the size is bigger than what is meant to be the max file size?

I made 1400$ in Dec - which was a pretty great way to end the year because the month started off garbage. About 60% of my sales were with my CID link, shame they all weren't! I am glad that I am taking a break for a while though, I am really struggling with motivation. I am going to try to get as far ahead of schedule this year so I can be more active and hopefully get a vanilla job to actually get out of the house. I am nervous, but maybe that will help to keep me from burning out like I have this last year.

Rather than just stating your $ earnings,
I am far more curious/interested in how many downloads you all actually get on average per video, in it's 1st month of release?? :)
I personally release 1-2 clips per month.
*My required number of sales of a clip for it to break-even (covering the cost of production) is 16-20 downloads.
*And my average number of sales per clip in it's 1st month of release fluctuated between 50-60 for my top most popular clips, to 15-20 for my least popular clips.
But so on average I'm getting 30-40 sales of a new clip in it's 1st month of launch + approx 25-30 sales per month of back-month clips.
Just curious what those figures are in comparison for all of you girls though?? :)

I don't give out that kind of info because it's not relevant to other people or their sales. Most people that post here tend to post a wide range of categories, some stick to a few categories, some film alone, some film with various others, etc. if you were asking people for that info that filmed in the same categories as you do with the same format then it might be helpful information.
With sales fluctuating and some months being very slow compared to others where the sales are stellar it's hard to say because one really bad month will swing the average. Some people don't believe there are slow months while others experience the same slow months every year (which proves it exists).
There wouldn't be any real useful information if you asked me how many sales I get for each of my videos compared to someone in the top 100, even if they filmed in the same categories as I do.
Jessicas_DoE_x
01-02-2019, 12:58 PM
Well no it is totally relevant, as merely comparing making $300 in a month vs someone else making $1,000 in that same month, means absolutely nothing unless they state how much of that is actually net profit (after production costs) + how many sales per video they typically achieve.
Plus ultimately someone who makes 30 videos per month but only gets 1-2 sales per video is doing an extremely poor job of producing videos VS someone who only produces 1-2 videos per month but gets 30-60 sales per video.
And so the reason why that info is important/desired is because if you are making barely any sales per each video compared to what other studios are averaging per each of their videos, obviously your videos are sub-standard currently, but so you being aware of that enables you to take the opportunity to try improving them to being of a quality which will get your far more sales per each video. :)
If you want to keep the info secret no-one can force you to disclose it, but ultimately none of us are running some kinda of top secret government project! lol
We are all simply fetish-porn producers, all trying to achieve the exact same goal (maximum sales per each of our clips), but so if everyone chooses to be secretive rather than open, will this forum would just become redundant and pointless.

I'm sorry but I'm getting a bit irritated with this 'I get 50 sales per clip' what about you? It's nobody's business! And it definitely isn't anyone's business how much each of us earns and I sure won't be disclosing my income on a public forum thanks very much.
This forum is awesome for sharing info regarding all aspects of clip making and to be fair, of course anyone that wants to disclose their own personal earnings has the right to do so.
And the above quote "Plus ultimately someone who makes 30 videos per month but only gets 1-2 sales per video is doing an extremely poor job of producing videos VS someone who only produces 1-2 videos per month but gets 30-60 sales per video." is rude to say the least. You have no idea how long it takes someone to make their clip, overheads, their personal goals, the time they have to film etc etc. And if their clips earn well per sale, then it's a good business model. I get what you mean but it's not black and white.
We all work differently and I do agree with you Jessica that we are all trying to achieve the same goal of success. But as previously mentioned, stating your figures is irrelevant compared to many as you have said on a few occasions your overheads are very high per clip. I film on my own and my overheads are low. I also produce quite a lot of clips and my sales vary hugely per clip. I film what I enjoy filming and adapt along the way. We are all learning and that's all part of the fun!

It costs me nothing but my time to film my solo videos so everything I make is profit. I have no actual costs to film any of my videos unless you count buying outfits but I still have and wear outfits from years ago so they've already paid for themselves and all of my equipment was paid for with gift cards.
You can make 30 videos a month in an over saturated category and make a handful of sales whereas someone that makes a few videos in a category that has traffic but isn't heavily saturated can make a lot more sales because there is less competition.
Take, for instance, female domination - There Are 4,420 Stores With 1,617,416 Clips
Now compare that to female wrestling - There Are 788 Stores With 364,169 Clips
Studios that mainly film categories with a higher number of studios need to upload more often for the exposure. Femdom's updated list only goes back to 12/31 whereas female wrestling goes back to 12/17. A femdom studio's updates will get knocked off the updated list pretty quickly, thus less exposure.
My sales aren't comparative to a top seller's videos for many reasons - some have been doing this for 15+ years and have the fan base from that time to present. If some live cam, offer phone sessions or cam sessions they will get more exposure than those that are strictly a video model.
Because this forum is accessible by models, customers, and lookie loos it makes it a bad place to openly discuss how many sales you get on your videos and how much money you make, especially if you are not posting anonymously. There's a reason why so few people in any job disclose what their earnings are.

I have been visiting this thread for years and frequently find information that is new or unknown to me. With things constantly changing it's a great place to keep up with new features, rule changes, and discuss features we'd like to see. If it became a pissing contest for how many sales and how much we earn every month I think it'd be a thread I'd never look at. While I think competition is great and having something to motivate you is nice, I also think it would make this thread very catty and not something most would want to frequent.
"Oh you only made $xxx on 30 videos? I made a profit of $xxxx on 2 videos. You must not be doing it right." This becomes the same conversation from IWC where model's were saying, "just work harder".

There's a reason why so few people in any job disclose what their earnings are.
I couldn't agree more. The key is finding those elusive categories!! If only. It's so random though. I cover lots of categories and have done well in some obscure ones and also in some popular ones. Also on the flipside, badly in some I thought were 'popular'. There are so many variables, whether or not people buy from ME is something I can't predict. Do they like what I'm doing and the way I do it? I can only try and find out.
And the bottom quote above, I totally agree. Unsurprisingly!

Ok if everyone else wants to keep their sales figures (despite the fact that it's anonymous forum - so not like anyone is going to be able to hack into your bank account and steal your money, that's upto you).
Maybe you're from America (wheras I'm English), and so you guys are far more defensive about what you are fine disclosing online compared to what we English are typically fine with doing... :)
But no it's not rude to say that ''Someone who produces loads of videos, but gets only 1-2 sales per each, is doing an ok job of producing videos, Compared to someone who gets a far higher number of sales per each video''.
Sorry but no-one would there creates videos with the hope/intention to barely get any sales of the video, as that would just be foolish and pointless.
We all want the exact same thing for each clip we produce, to get the highest possible number of sales for it as possible.
Yes we can all molly-coddle eachother, saying that it's not sales figures that matter, its the 'having that counts', then go sit in a meadow in the sunshine... ect lol
However whilst that would be 'nice', ultimately for me atleast this is purely 100% business, and so is 100% about sales figures/profit-margins/and net-profit totals.
I do appreciate that some people don't treat this as an actual commercial business though,
instead for them it's instead just a little part-time side hobby making amateur home-videos for abit of extra cash, and so for them they don't care if they get only 1-2 sales per clip (as they have no production cost per clip),
but so ultimately my question was targetted at people who do operate their clip store as a commercial business + who do like to share/discuss figures.
(No-one who doesn't want to disclose their sales figures is forced to respond at all). :)

I don't give out that kind of info because it's not relevant to other people or their sales.
Amen! (It's also none of anyone else's business....)

I will admit that December tanked for me pretty hard. I started slow, had a small burst in the middle, and ended really poorly. My main category is Ruined Orgasms/Handjobs and I film with my partner. I'm not sure what changed, but maybe it was just a slow holiday? I'm a bit apprehensive to see how January goes. Luckily I had some uptick on ManyVids and Modelhub, which is odd. I guess we'll see how it goes! I know its atypical, because we are in so many different niches, but if anyone has any parallels or thoughts I'd be open to any feedback.
