Just uploaded my 299th clip. I feel like I should sit on a celebratory cake for the 300th. Hahahahaha.

Someone ordered a custom. The vid itself was totally easy to make.. they sent another e-mail saying if I make a vid where I do blah blah blah they will buy it. Um.. should I ask them if they want that as a custom? I do also welcome requests just to get ideas of what people want.

How basic does a request have to be for you to do it regular price? Or do you only do customs and barely no requests?

Ok sorry if this is a dumb question. When you open a studio on c4s does the studio have to be all one category? Like example if you do a foot vid do all ur vids have to revolve around that? I am just confused like do you get to select a category for each clip you do?

Decalyn
07-22-2012, 06:41 AM
Your studio itself will be under a single category. However, any videos in your studio will be advertised in their respective categories. If you're not planning on sticking to one specific type of video, try to make your store category something that applies to you directly, not necessarily to any particular video content.

When you post a video, you can choose it's "main" category, and it will be advertised (bumped to the top) in it's specific area of the site. The secondary categories and tags, while they won't get your video into more than one section of the site, allow anyone visiting your store to search for any of your videos containing a specific fetish, theme, etc.

Hope that helped. :)

Just sayin. Sometimes I feel like Cave Johnson in Portal, "We're just throwing fetish at the wall to see what sticks." I film the absolutely most random shit, edit it and stick it up there between the stuff I know will sell well. Someone mentions "ha ha, like having a nostril fetish"? Notice how plushy your toilet paper is and want to squeeze it? Fuck it! Film it! Put it up!

Even the most super basic thing, pitch it as a custom video.

"I want to see you walk across the floor in high heels"

"I'd love to make that video for you! I can do it EXACTLY the way you ask and have it done for you in a week, special, just for you for only 10$/min. I'll film it as soon as I receive payment."

"Oh, that's a little steep for me"

"Ok, I understand. It's a great video idea. I'll put it on my 'to film' list, so it'll probably be up in a month or so. Keep checking back to see it go up in my store!"

Then actually do film it but delay releasing it for a week or so. When you release it, tell people it's a custom video idea. That way they'll know that you do customs.

I do it this way because if you tell people you're open to requests your inbox clogs up with all these, "I think a great video that lots of people will like is if you hop up and down on one leg with a carrot in your ass and say, 'fuck me Rob' over and over. There are lots of guys named Rob who will buy it....what...I'm not named Rob. -Sincerely, Rob" and people get mad when you say you won't do it. OR you get a lot of stupid requests from people who won't buy the clip/haven't bought any clips from you/just want to talk to you about their fetish for free.

Thanks Isobel, that makes me feel a lot better about the stuff I've been filming for my new store...I don't know if what I'm doing is right, if there is such a thing, but doing a variety of stuff and hoping for the best!

Just a heads up,

I just got an email today. Some guy wanting to pay for some of my clips via Amazon GC or Paypal (lolz) - if a guy asks this, be aware that he is most likely banned on C4S for chargebacks/refunds.

AKA Cheapo. AKA probably posts your videos to porn forums or tube sites because he's an asshole.

I was wondering if there was a best time to open a store. I have my 10+ clips but thought maybe a Saturday would be better or maybe it doesn't matter when.

Also, has anyone every had any problems with their clips being larger than the guide size?

I've watermarked my clips too with my name...hopefully that's ok!

Watermarking is definitely ok. I always do it without fail. Also, my clips are VERY large and no problems yet.

I had one clip that was about 18 minutes long, 1080p HD. It took for EVER to upload, then it said that anything around that file size should be AT LEAST 30 minutes. Sooo I edited it at 720p HD and it went up fine. :) Out of 130 clips, I've only had that problem with one.

The company name is something like "Intermark Management" I think. But it def. doesn't say C4S. And the 1099's say "Intermark" too!

Yup, it's intermark! I just cashed one of their cheques today! :D

For watermarking vids - I think there's probably a zillion threads on here about it - but if you want a free program to do it just use windows live movie maker, and click the "caption" button.

maryjaynexo
07-23-2012, 06:42 PM
I use Windows Movie Maker, Adobe Premiere Pro, and Wondershare Video Converter, or any combination thereof for watermarking videos. With WMM and Premiere Pro, you type in some text, but with Wondershare you can upload an actual image watermark, which is a lot easier when you have to do a bunch at once and/or convert file types or change bitrates/file sizes.

MissEgo
07-23-2012, 08:01 PM
Premiere you can do an image / logo too! I know this because I've watched the tutorials. lmao I only just got it today though and am too chicken to test it out yet.

I use Camtasia Studio to edit and watermark my videos. You can make it remember to add watermark at the end of process on all the videos until you uncheck that opinion. I love that, because I am very forgetful. haha.

It's not 9am yet but I just filmed...putting my make-up on with my wet hair wrapped in a towel...drying my hair...talking about my hair! My hair is really thick so I'm wondering whether to make the talking one the first one I upload (they say in the info to be careful which one you choose first as newbies get featured).

I have such a mix of vids because I'm using some that I uploaded to Adultwork. I'm excited to see though that I can use my schoolgirl role play vids I made with my partner...because of the age thing I thought I wouldn't be able to but I see other schoolgirls vids there, and seeing as I'm 45 years old with a 36FF bust, I look anything like a real schoolgirl! In the UK though I could be the age of consent and still at school, not sure what it is there.

Re: watermarking
I film all my clips through Debut. It lets you place a text or image watermark on your video AS you film, so you don't have to do it afterwards. Saves a step during editing, and all my raw footage is watermarked.

I'm having trouble when I try to convert my files to .mov! They are HUGE like 750 megs for a 7 minute video!! I'm using cyberlink power director to do this. Is there any tricks I should know? I don't normally do .mov's but had a request for one tonight.

Sorry I cant help w ur .mov problem!

I was wondering if someone could help me with a question I have :)

Under "Stats" and then at the bottom where it says: Traffic Sorted by Referring Site, there are a bunch of things underthere i don't quite get. I mean, I don't understand this link: http://www.clips4sale.com/do/list or why one of my hits seems to be someone searching "superheroines" since I have NO clips under this! Also, many of them seem to be the same?

maryjaynexo
07-28-2012, 05:08 PM
TM, in your video editor, try reducing your bitrate when you save it as .mov. The quality will be a little lessened, but the file size will drop. I find .mp4 is the best file format for me in terms of good compression and high quality.

Windows 7, an i7 and FTP have made this process so, so much faster and more pleasant! Imma be clip-making alllll day :D

I strongly advise anyone uploading clips through a browser to download a program like FileZilla and use FTP.

MissEgo
07-29-2012, 11:27 AM
^^ YES! I use FTP for all my clip site uploads (except Kinkbomb...) but it makes the entire thing WAY easier and much faster (and when I upload a month of clips at a time, it gives me a good few hours of time to clean the house, while still "working"!)

When up loading a video, I was curious if everyone uses all 5 drop boxes to select a keyword and do you also use all 15 spots to make custom keywords?

Im asking because I can not come up with that many keywords, so I keep some keyword areas blank.

You don't have too. But I always fill them in. More keywords drives traffic to your stores.

Well...they do sell "porn" which explains why it looks like a porn site. It's mostly fetish stuff but for some guys a video of a girl picking their nose is just as sexy as a video of a bj is for another dude.

I got some requests for custom clips and I wonder if have any of you made and sold your custom clips directly to them, so you can get full profit? If so, where do you upload clips for them to download? 500mb isnt gonna work in gmail. :( I would like to be able to make more money off clips to customers who ordered custom clips before I upload the clips to C4S.

Scrooge McDuck, Y U NO FILM THAT AND SELL IT? Seriously though, naked in a pile of money = good clip material. Hell, even naked in a pile of chocolate coins. LOL

Winona, I would be a little careful of people that ask to buy outside of C4S. Often it's because they've been banned from buying on the site, but not always. In my case, 4/5 people that ask to purchase offsite are trying to get me to take Paypal or trying to haggle on my video rates. For your file size problem, can suggest a few things:
1. Reduce bitrate to reduce file size (will also reduce quality as well)
2. Convert your videos to a high-quality format with better compression (.mp4 tends to save the smallest, most high-quality files for me).
3. Split your clip up into pieces.

Also, I use Mediafire for offsite clips, but they have a 200mb limit. Most of my files that were huuuuge as a .wmv, (500 mb+) I've saved to.mp4 and uploaded to MF this way.

I will try bitrate part.. I use mp4 all the way, but still for 5 min, its already into 500mb or so. haha. nobody asked me to send clips off the site, yet.. i just wonder if it is possible to do that, so i can ask them try pay me instead of through C4S before I upload the clip to C4S for the rest of other customers.

Just got this email, seems fishy.

"To whom it make concern, I bought a video last night and it did not download. Plz send another 1."

Don't fall for this legit or not. Don't send them anything. We don't deal with downloads/tech issues so direct them to C4S customer support and tell them to either call the toll free # or to open a ticket about it.

You might want to give MPEG Streamclip a try. It's a free program that will convert almost any format clip to almost any other format clip imaginable. And it also has a good watermark feature, and you can edit the clips and also join them (the joining is tricky, PM me for help if you decide to try it).

BUT it is very tricky to learn to use at first. There are a bewildering choice of optional outputs, and if you aren't careful, you can wind up waiting forever for it to convert enormous huge files. While I have been told (after doing quite a bit of research on the program on the various forums) that these gigantic files are useful for special effects editing, etc., it's way beyond what most of us will need.

Also it tends to get stuck in certain settings, you have to close the program and start over if you have made different sized clips from the same master, or it will give you files sized according to the last setting no matter what other choice you have made.

Once you get the hang of it, it's a fast and easy way to produce 3-4 versions of the same clip in different formats and sizes.

I trust them implicitly. Never had a problem with payout, have gotten several checks already. They also truly care about their studio owners and will listen to suggestions and try to comply with requests. The owner is a terrific guy who actually takes care of his people. I could tell instantly that this was someone I could count on--and unlike so many people who have seen a big dramatic success with their business ventures, and let it go to their heads, he is a genuinely nice guy who is very open and pleasant to talk to..

I could be talking bollocks about the google thing and not saving! I've uploaded 2 clips and still kind of confused LOL. I used the GIZMO FTP option first, only to find that I had to upload again from my laptop even though the clips was listed, when I went to my clipstore in order to set the title/keywords etc (if that makes sense).

Djoser
07-31-2012, 04:24 PM
^^^I have found it's not a bad idea to go ahead and upload the clips separately while filling out the description, making a good still shot from the video, picking the time and display order number, etc. for each one. We have pretty much stuck with the C4S 'ideal size', so mp4 clips are sized roughly at 10Mb per minute, and the .mov file formats are twice as big. this means that the clip is often finished uploading before I have finished the clip information.

The FTP uploader is a great idea for uploading multiple clips at once, of course.

Thank you for everyone's help! I opened my store yesterday, have uploaded 29 clips (need to make more now!) and have sold 3 so far...woohoo!

It's really exciting although not breaking the bank just yet. My first sale was a smoking clip and the guy asked me to do another, I almost died as I don't actually smoke but I've sold a couple of lingerie focused ones since then so am breathing a sigh of relief at the moment! (no puns intended with the references to dying and breathing when talking about smoking lol)

How does the e-mail system work as far as getting replies to sent promo e-mails, etc.? Is there an 'In Box' on C4S for each studio? I didn't see one--but then we only just sent out our first promo e-mail.

When you send out a promo email the customers reply to the email address you've signed up with and receive all other correspondence.
