Oh one trick I like to use in C4S. If you have a clip and it could fall into more than one category, use the .mov version of it as another category. That way you will get more exposure and get attention from guys with slightly different tastes. Be sure to include the different file type in the title or they will automatically reject it though. They don't mind if you do this, I called and asked first
I even just tried making an .avi version for a total of three copies for one of the better new video clips we are posting, though I doubt I will do that much in future. But it's definitely an attention getting clip so I tried it.

So I started up my clip store today and uploaded 10 different clips, yet whenever I go to a particular category, my store doesn't show up under "recently updated studios". I emailed them to make sure that my store was indeed active and they said it was. Any thoughts?

^^^YW this is usually the time where you will get the most views of your entire store instead of just whatever category you upload to so you may want to shoot & upload a wide variety of clips this time while you have the most views & see what is your most profitable
good luck & make that $$$ !

So I have my payout minimum set at $500 because I like getting a nice chunk of cash. I made $250 last month starting in the last 2 weeks, and then obviously because today is the 1st september, my $200 is gone from the 'this months sales' bit. But its a bit freaky to have my sales back to 0 again! Where else is my last months money recorded on the site? Is there like a ....overall sales bit? I n00b.

okay so- I had more than 10 clips, was ready to activate- contact support and they tell me the store can't link out for 14 days- does that mean I also must remove any links that I might have put in my videos? :/

You mean your watermark to your website or blog? I don't think you have to take that out, no.

I think its just the links you put on your c4s that will NOT be working for 14 days, or until they approved the links.. At least, that was what happened with my c4s. *shrugs*

I set up my studio for the beginning of August and I had around 60 clips uploaded by the end of August. I haven't linked the site to my twitter or cam site but still managed to get a payout for that month, which I'm pleased with as it's my first month. Now that I'm back to camming I won't be able to manage a clip a day but will do what I can...

And add about 5 t0 10 seconds of comment page in the end of video with your blog, twitter, email or any kind of contact on it. So, they can learn where to follow you or to send you an email for a custom order request. :)
This is brilliant! Thanks so much for mentioning it. <3

I haven't set up for receiving custom orders yet but I've had requests...just not for anything I wanted to do and an offer of $10 from one guy for a 5 min clip, which would take me an hour to produce (things can be slow on AW but I can usually earn more than that in an hour!).
Can I ask please how much you girls charge for customs (ones to upload onto C4S and exclusive customs)?
maryjaynexo
09-15-2012, 12:42 PM
^^Charge according to how much you value your time. Factor in props or materials used, time you took to write a script, if any, time spent on makeup/etc if they want it a certain way, and add it up.

I dont live in the US and the payment options for internationals are ridiculous. This is just a hypothetical here, but do you think it would be at all possible to somehow open up a bank account in america (preferably myself if possible, if not then a friend, or is there a service that offers something like this?) and transfer it over to my usual account? Or is C4S just a no go for me? I'd really love to work on there but they make it really inconvenient and unfair for anyone outside the US :/

I doubt they have a choice in the matter then, riot667. That site really tries to take care of their own people, from what I have seen--and heard from others.
I don't know if you can open a bank account here in the USA, it might depend on what country you are from. I bet you can do it though. You can also set up what they call a 'repetitive wire transfer' from a US bank to a foreign bank, but they charge a fee each time--the best way to do it is to wait and send larger amounts less frequently.

I'm not from the US and I get wire transfer, I think it's more than worth it. If you put in the work, it shouldn't be a problem. My bank also charges the same amount I think every 4 months so I end up paying $85-$90 in certain months just to get my money. It's worth it for me. If you don't make that much in a month, you can adjust the minimum payout amount, for example to $1000. Maybe you won't make payout every single month but when you do, it will be worth the $45 fee. I think this would be an easier option, but it really depends on your sales, how much work you want to put in and many other factors.

How safe is doing a direct deposit? and Should I get myself a passport card? which is cheaper then the full passport. Also would a car registration work? Should I worry about giving out my address or bank account info?

I'm Canadian and I can open a US bank account through my Canadian bank for free. When I first started cashing cam cheques and having to go to the teller to have it converted, they encouraged me to do that if it was going to be a regular event.

Depends what you're using the passport card for. If you are just using it for ID and not travel, then go the passport card route as it is cheaper.
But know if you want to travel using a passport outside the US, the card is only good in Mexico and Canada AND NOT BY AIR TRAVEL to those countries (only walking, driving or cruise ship) A regular passport is good for travel in all countries no matter what transportation method you use.

I just opened my C4S store but have a question regarding email. Do you ladies post your email on your store page and in your videos? Did you create an email account specifically for clip requests? I use my email for everything associated with camming so I get some important emails and I don't want to have to eventually be weeding through unnecessary amounts of spam because I posted my email for requests.

I personally sell custom clips at $9/minute or $99.99 for 10-15mins. I have seen a lot of girls who sell custom clips for $10/min. I'm looking into using a media host plus Payoneer or some type of service so that I can sell custom videos for more than $99.99 (C4S limit). I just sold a 15 min clip for $99.99 but at my rate it should have been $135.
I just had a thought. Ive only read thru page 23 so I apologize of its been covered. So regaurding custom videos. Technically if we sell a custom video for 99.99 we are only making about $60. What do you guys think (or have you done) about splitting the clips into two parts, say for $70 each or something. So he is paying $140 but we are making $84, or $42 per clip. Then just leave it up for others to buy and if they buy just one then you still get $42 for a clip that was meant for someone else.
Does anyone do that?

Hi y'all. I've been making clips for a few months, and having way too much fun exploring the different fetishes that people are into. I wanted to share a tip that one of my girlfriends passed to me for anyone else working off a mac. 2 Apps that have been ridiculously useful to me
1. Smart Converter - converts to mp4, wmv (highest selling format by far), and mov formats within seconds. And it's free. There's no reason not to have clips in multiple file formats. It multiplies your income without increasing your workload. And this app is the best free way to do that I've found.
2. GIF Brewery - it's on the app store for like $4.99, but is the easiest way to make custom gifs for your store that look good and reflect what you want to be selling
I'm not an expert by any means, and if other people have better ways of dealing with those issues (I kinda skimmed the rest of this thread) I'd love to hear them! I've found that the filming part comes kind of intuitively to me, but the actual back end tech stuff is a real challenge for me.
Just used GIF Brewery and LOVE it! Best $5 I ever spent! Thanks for this!

Im having mixed opinions about something. When i started uploading i heard a lot of recommendations to put a comment page at the end of the clip with links to facebook, twitter, email etc and so my firt few i uploaded like that. The. I got some opinions that having that snaps the guy back to reality. I thought it was great for marketing but i removed my clips and took out he comment page. So now they dont have it, but now im questioning if i should go back and add them again. It will take some time so maybe i should do it to new uploads.
What is everyones opinion and expirience with having a comment page at the end? I dont know what to do now!

I just started my store and I have not sold any clips yet so I don't know how it affects sales. The first few clips I uploaded I did not have a credits page but since then I have been adding one to every video I upload; listing my website, Twitter and a few have my email. I am still debating on whether to include my email or not but my blog and twitter for sure. I have a facebook page but I don't use it much so I don't see much point in promoting that. I think a page at the end of the video is good marketing and if they enjoyed what they watched I think they would be more likely to search for you. Plus if your name is last thing that they see it has to kind of stick in their head a bit! I don't see how having that page would hurt, I think it almost would make the customers want more cause they have these ways to find you and see what else you may be offering.

You know that google analytical thing? I would see it at the top of a few pages on C4S. I heard it charges you after a while, does it automatically sign you up for it so it will charge you when the time comes? or do you have to activate it yourself? I dont want it if it will charge me but now I cant find it and cant figure out how to deactivate it.

I just have to tell you guys. So i opened my store on the 1st but i got really discouraged, feeling like nothing was good enough etc. not to mention my financial position went down the toilet, my dog needed a really expensive surgery right after i left my horrible job and it wiped me out. So ive been extremely stressed and been crying tonight trying to figure out what im going to do. Then i happen to check my email and i got my first sale!! It was a sneeze clip, then i went back to my inbox and the same clip sold again. Both were from the uk but diferent people. I am happy even if they were sold for 2.99 each. I just want them to be satisfied customers. I want them to like my clip, so im happy but nervous at the same time. Ive staye up almost all night stressed so i feel like i can rest a little easier. I feel motivated.
Edit:
I want to add, I joined a burp fetish forum and there is a section where they can trade, sell, buy etc videos and I see a lot of C4S videos on there. Some people are saying "I have _____'s video if you want to trade for X". Is this allowed? I dont really want my things being traded for free and I dont want any one elses on C4S to be traded. Just thought I might bring that up.

It cracks me up because i remember someone saying that customers pick your niche and they were so right! Sneezing has been picked for me. Ive sold so many sneeze clips and im so amused. But i had a question, does anyone know of a clip site that allows simulated gore/blood, and stuff like that, but is just as reputable as c4s? I love c4s but i love simulated blood and horror stuff too and its hard for me to avoid it.

10-06-2012, 08:06 PM
I actually love stuff like that too and I haven't found anywhere sorry. I don't think anywhere reputable will allow it because it goes against the extreme obscenities ruling.. I tend to keep my vampyric/ blood play stuff for indie camshows

I contacted customer service a few days ago because I have an excel spread sheet that totals all my earnings.I cross checked it with C4S sales report and I noticed a few sales, usually clips who have multiple sales, come up as 59.85% instead of 60%. Thats what my calculations say im making. So basically its close to 10 cents im losing total, which isnt much but it could add up. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem. They said they were looking into it and would contact me when they knew what was happening.

10-09-2012, 12:27 PM
I think they just drop the tenth of the penny from the order. Cause how can they pay you $1.256? They pay you $1.25. Its the tenth of a penny that you see add up on large orders due to rounding. Does that make sense?
CreamintheCupcake
10-09-2012, 12:50 PM
Yeah but thats not what is happening. All of the sales add up. So my spreadsheet and theres is exactly the same with the individual numbers, like a clip that is 2.99 i make $1.79, and it is laid out that way on the site and on my spread sheet, but when i add up all the sale prices, say I sold 5 clips making 1.79 each it would total $8.95, but the totals at the very end, adding up all months is short. So the individual clip totals are correct when I sell them but when its on their spreadsheet/sales sheet, it is slightly shorter. Im not sure why, I sent them my spreadsheet too, but they said they were getting it checked out.
I have another unrelated question tho:
Does anyone pay taxes quarterly? Trying to get the taxes figured out.

Hey girls, I am fairly new to C4S, this is going into my second month and I have made over 1700 bucks in 45 days. I am working hard and uploading 5 new videos a day not to mention the re-formats. My biggest question right now (since I have a lot) is can anyone give me step by step instructions on adding analytics to my studio, which selections on setting up the analytics do I use? There are a lot of options and it doesn't seem to work, or at least point me in the right direction since a google search brings me to this site every time.
Thanks

It's their board. So yes, its allowed on there.
Is it right?/Do they own the content? NO.
Should they pay for the content? YES.
But some people are assholes and feel like they can just share/steal our hardwork instead of supporting us so we can make more of the videos they love (they wouldn't steal/trade them and keep them if they didn't like to watch them.)
You don't want it to happen but it does. Nothing you can do to avoid it. Just watermark everything that you put out there: photos and videos. DMCA it.
If they steal from you at least they are promoting you at the same time.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Those rare burp fetish guys will probably pay a lot of money for that content, since it's no doubt very hard to find--but they will not be pounding on your door in droves. The watermarking of your videos is the best bet for protection in this regard.
