My sales are pitiful this month but I'm not uploading new clips so their glitch isn't causing that for me...for a few months my sales were good despite no uploads.

Compared to other clip sites and Niteflirt; my sales has been very dry this month. I hope it picks in June and July.:)

Anybody facing any issue while uploading since yesterday? After the maintenance window that they notified, i was still facing major issues as the uploader was not working or very slow and FTP files were not even getting time calculated, even now its the same, uploading happening since 30 minutes, and not even 3% is over. Is it just me? Just mailed them again, lets see what they have to say

Upload speed has been alright, but compliance approvals are taking over an hour again.
And they're also blocking stuff that was previously let through, so I guess it's block quota time.

My sales are shitty, this is why I want to see my stats so I can see what's going on.
Well, they kind of fixed the stats :D
The chart-type stats are "working", if you go to the stats there is this chart Global Hits this month. What do I mean by telling that they "kind of" fixed the stats? They are messed up. I see the hits for the next two days. It's showing me that tomorrow I will have 161 hits and the next day 88
;D ;D ;D
It's getting annoying, my sales are also terrible and I don't know how many people actually visited my store...But I also ask myself, if I could see my real stats now again. What if they were incredibly low? That was c4s that always put traffic in my store, I never even promoted it, my hits were quite good, and at the end of the month, I always was pretty pleased with my earnings.
What would I do next? Even my best selling categories are dead now, and I am pretty sure that's not me. It's them. Something really bad is going on since the site was sold.
My partner is watching my struggles with c4s and there is one thing he told me after seeing what is happening here "Maybe they bought this company to destroy it"...Well I know that kind of thing is happening, but mostly is when a big company is buying a small business, to open something similar later. I can't imagine something like that going on here...But who knows, after everything even this thought is possible.

It's either fucked up or they are trying to predict your hits, which either way isn't helpful. My sales have been ranking for a while on c4s. This month they are embarrassing, since I can't look I don't know what's happening. I don't know what category they are coming from so I can't try to adjust. I don't know how they are finding me, so I don't know where to push advertising more. I don't know anything since I can't see the damn stats.
I'm in the dark here. I know I can't find these kinds of stats on most other clip sites but I'm also not struggling to pull in sales elsewhere.
I don't think they are intentionally ruining the site, I think they just don't know what they are doing and didn't realize the scale of the site. Bit off more than they could chew.

This may only be a coincidence, but I thought I'd share.
Deleting an older clip in a category "refreshed" the category update list and made the newest updates that had disappeared, reappear again.
Everything had disappeared again a few hours later, but deleted another clip and a few minutes later, all updates are back again. Different category this time though. Hmmm.
The clips were alternate formats and unsold, so no great loss. But they REALLY need to fix this. Makes less updated categories look completely dead.

I've been without power or ability to work for 8 days due to a storm, I didn't expect things to be better when I came back but this sucks. Lots of clips missing. I'm reporting them...I'm glad more and more people are noticing and complaining, maybe they'll take more measures or redo the site or something.
I noticed on store pages there's FOLLOW+ next to our store name, is this new? What is it like from the member end if you have an account? this could be a good way for members to keep up to date with their favourite studios, if it is functioning properly. Can someone post a screenshot?

I have so many clips missing this week. I'm fed up. I sent this message to support, I hope the new ownership and management know what's going on.
A lot of studios are complaining now about this issue on industry forums, it isn't making Clips4sale look good. We all miss the old Clips4sale that worked well and promoted our content properly. I don't know what's going on from the tech end, but for us, it feels like the issues aren't being taken seriously or handled competently. I'm sure it is affecting many more studios that report to you, I've spoken to producer friends who are having poor sales and they aren't checking categories. I've looked into it for them and their clips are also disappearing. Please do something more seriously about this or contract some experts who will. This has been going on for about 7 months now. We try to be patient and understanding, but this is truly ridiculous. Please pass along our concerns to your new ownership and management to get some more resources and attention on this matter.

I needed to google who's the owner of c4s now since it's disappeared from my brain. If I see it correctly now it's CentroVentures/ModelCentro/Fancentro whatever they call themselves now. So I also googled the owner of this company, and...Well, Neil always seemed to me like just a normal guy, besides his huge success, I don't know, something in his face was always telling me he's a nice guy ( I even had some problems at the beginning of my c4s journey and was exchanging some emails with him, and from my experience, he was really nice).
When it comes to this new owner- hmm...I don't trust guys that post pictures with tigers ;D And I will keep the rest of my thoughts to myself.
Justsometwat mentioned that she thinks that they just don't know what they're doing- and it's possibly very true but I just don't get it- they bought this huge company, and it probably cost them an insane amount of money, and now they don't know how to run it. It's just stupid, how can you buy this kind of platform not knowing how to fix problems. And it's not like some random dude just bought it, from what I see this company is associated with this kind of business so why they are acting like total newbies now.

For anyone that was confused, the follower info is above the stats box (with the Clip Store, Tributes/Donations, Total, and Payout info) when you log in. It's just plain text so it blends in.
When you sign up for a customer account you can click the follow button on a store's page. After that there's a little bell at the top of the screen that stays there and says "What's New?" next to it. When there's something new it has a little yellow dot on it as a notification (that does not appear to ever go away, even after clicking it). If you click on that it (becomes a drop down) has the newest videos of the store's you follow. I can see one I posted from 13 hours ago, then it goes from there 1d ago, 4d ago, etc. I can only see 5 in the drop down, but there's a See All button. When you click that it takes you to a "following" page. I can see those same videos. The only info it shows is the thumbnail, store name, video title, and then an add to wishlist, add to cart button. It seems to only show videos from the last 30 days.
You can access all of this (the actual page, not just the drop down) when you click your username at the top right. It takes you to the same page listed above.
ETA - while I do not think this is a bad change, I just wonder why this was being worked on when the stats still don't work. Don't break things then start a new project before you finish the old one. It's also very basic, there's just text and it's not even a fancy looking font. It's very plain with no graphics so it's not even an exciting page to look at. Plus it doesn't have enough info. I would like to see store name, title, and the main categories, length and size of video. There could be a read more to expand so they can see description. I don't think that should automatically show because it would feel like a lot of clutter.

Thanks for the great info, JST! I didn't feel like signing up with a member account to find out. I like this update, considering the category disappearance problems, but not sure it sounds like it will be appealing enough for customers to use. I'll try to see what some of my customers think of it, if they've even noticed the change.

It was surprisingly easy to sign up, I don't know why more customers don't do it. One neat thing I found was you can import your previous purchases from before you had a user account as long as the email address for the previous purchases is the same as the one for the user account. That might be something to mention to your customers if they haven't found this already. it is kind of hidden because it is hidden in "my settings".

Does the preview show in your store?
I wasn't aware of it, but I found out that C4S creates long previews of our clips for the Clips Search part of the website (https://www.clips4sale.com/clips/search#clip-tab). I never look at my clips in that part of the site, so it was a fluke thing I found it. They do not use the .gif previews I created for my store, they create their own. I figured out that if I create and upload my OWN short preview, that is what they will use for the Clips Search page and not create their own.
I also had the preview option shut off and these previews (the ones created by C4S) were not shown in my store, so I guess I assumed it was working. Until I stumbled across my clip previews on the Clips search page.
Maybe some people won't care, but I do. I like to control what the customer gets to see before purchasing the clip, not have C4S take liberties in creating long previews. Some things I don't want shown in the preview, only for paying customers. But creating and uploading my own previews is what 'fixed' that problem. If you don't do that, they will make their own out of your content.
Never checked this out - it's all over the place! Yes, I do care. I leave the preview off if all the visuals needed is in the gif. I've noticed lately it will often still be on even if I deselect it, super annoying. If I want to have a preview I carefully choose one of the selections (10 seconds in, half clip etc) or I craft it with the preview creator. But apparently, none of these choices matter on the search page, instead a long ass preview is there, showing pretty much everything in the clip. I often have surprises in there, or I feel a prolonged clip will be enough to jerk off to. I also avoid too long and many clips of my real face - that is for paying customers.
And as I said it's all over the place. Some clips wont show a preview at all on the search page even if I made one. Some show the long generated preview no matter what is selected. And some show the one I made. Aaargh. I'm so sick of all the bullshit. Just new features added every week without anything working properly.

How do you handle customers that are VERY chatty? I have a couple who are my best paying customers and very nice so of course I will answer mails. But lately both are writing so much. I wait a couple days or three to answer, then minutes later there is another lengthy e-mail with tons of questions.
Today my studio page doesn't show my custom text at the top, and it has switched to the grid view for my clips (I prefer the view that shows some of the description, so that people browsing don't have to click to find out more details.) I know that C4S stops showing the text and images we set up if it's been a month or more without new clips, but that's not it.
Additionally, for a little while I was getting errors when trying to use the admin area- either it won't load at all, or it shows me the broadcast message about the Pride promotion, I click agree, and then I just get a blank page with "API authentication request failed." (That might have resolved now, as I type this.)
Is anyone else having either of these issues?
Edit: and now everything is back to normal. /:O

We just need to keep pushing and hopefully something will change.

Are you talking about my message, Natalie? They just ignored it and refreshed my clips on the category pages or whatever they do. I try to raise awareness but other producers don't have time (as if I do) to check or they don't seem to care. But it seems more and more of us are noticing and complaining. I hope they actually are trying to fix it and not bullshitting us.

How is the clip disappearing issue for everyone else this week? Last week I had SO MANY missing and they did their thing and I was only able to check a week later. To my surprise, there were 0 clips missing (I only go back a month, which takes so long anyway as I update daily with 4 formats). Praying that they are making progress at fixing the issue.

I wasn't checking to see if my updates were there because I schedule so far in advance I just sort of leave it alone, but something happened. All of a sudden I am getting sales again. I've already made a 1/3 of what I made for all of last month. I'm actually getting more than one clip sale per order too. For a while I was getting only one video in each order, I don't know if it had anything to do with what they changed or what but that was out of the ordinary. I hope this stays the case, it sucked making so little after putting so much effort in all of these years.

So I noticed my clips in categories that don't update as often have nose dived.
Investigating I noticed the preview carousal isn't displaying the latest posted clip unless you scroll it over.
This means that in categories that don't update as fast it won't show for a long time if a customer visit the section and doesn't wait for it to scroll over.

My clips have been visible in their categories as far as I've seen (but as ericachronic also noticed, not in the image rail when newest) But today's clip did not show up in the newly updated list (home page). Don't waste your time like I did filming Mesmerize or Executrix content anymore. Even solo. Compliance is riding those categories hard and even the use of the words in the video is causing denials. Why are the categories even still up if the subjects aren't allowed on the site??? I mean I guess I'm glad as I have some old content there still up, but I won't be filming any new content like this anymore. I wonder how long Taboo or Vampire will last.

I somewhat recently spent hundreds of hours making the best goon/mesmerize clip ever, or at least that was the goal. Now quality with those certainly is subjective af, but I will certainly say that it has quite high production value.
Now I fuckin killed myself making it, used expensive assets, licensed music, used my $5000 camera to film it, greenscreened it, plenty of overtime was involved released it in 4k, took my 3090 quite a while. got it approved and...
Fucking bombed. Worst video ever. Especially considering the time investment. And worst of all? Everybody who has seen it friggin loved it.
In fact, sold less than some old dogshit video of me that only had me in my apartment with a lazy mirrored transparency effect and "hypnotic" boop sound effect. My fucking heart!
In a moment like that I wonder to myself:
Why in the funk do I even bother?
I know I'm not the first artist to whom this has happened either. This might, or might not have been a marketing failure. Sometimes the algo doesn't pick you up and that's that...
So I eventually released it for free, got millions of views across the tube sites, everybody really loves it - guess that's cool, I consider it a marketing success - but indeed, one very frequently finds that 100x the effort doesn't equal 100x the paycheck.
In a moment like this you're deeply frustrated because, let's be real here, you know that some people can just dispassionately phone it in (for a while) and make bank.
But I make this post only to share with you a rather obvious take-away:
Quality does not matter nearly as much as you think. Or even at all, really? Basic competency and attractiveness is all that's needed sometimes lol. Marketing does. Nobody is paying you for being "the best" at anything. You are being paid for selling. A sale pays you. I stopped putting in effort and just spend all my time promoting and, fuck dude, better paycheck than ever. Keep in mind, I just feel a little salty about the whole affair.
Guess that's the game. Please don't be stupid like me. Nobody is paying you for being the bestest most kindest businesswoman, willing to always put in the hours, concerned with value for her custies. We're much more like... Mobile gaming (no offense intended). Fulfill a need, catch your whales.

It's so frustrating when that happens! I agree with you-clips4sale is all about consistency. It seems to be a mixed bag as far as quality goes. Ludella Hahn is always in the top 50 but her videos are very good quality, higher production value. But then you have people like Dick Sucking Lips who shoots low quality (niche) content but also does very well. It's odd. Then there are models who are on the top 50 who do good work-but it looks very similar to a lot of studios. It doesn't stand out to me at all. And I don't mean it in a petty way. Clips4sale success just seems random which can be inspiring but also annoying lol.

In 2009 people might have been selling clips for 1.3$ a minute (wasn't at least too out of the ordinary for a successful femdom creator).
Now, with 13 years more experience, and prettier than ever, it's quite frequently expected (men expect this, a lot of market participants do this) that you sell at a 24% lower price, while you get to keep 25% less of the sale on many sites (60% vs 80%). At the same time, inflation has devalued that price-tag by another 24%.
So... uh, in net, real (inflation adjusted) terms I get about 57% per sale what one used to. There are more girls than ever, and a lot of sites as of recently don't seem as healthy as they once had been.
Now if I factor this into my pricing policy such that my take-home per sale remains constant I am basically considered absolutely overwhelmingly expensive. Some of you did exactly that successfully, which is great to see.
Maybe I'm just imagining this, but it has actually become a lot harder to be a "exclusive" brand because the majority of the customer base has changed. Let's say the "median" customer is a lot more of a cheapskate than he used to be.
It was at least never my intention to sell to the masses. I'm Gucci not... Swatch. lol
Anyways:
Adjusted for inflation, in real terms, even the Big Mac has become 70% more expensive. So MickeD is now charging 70% extra and... I'm supposed to sell for so much less? This isn't meant to be value judgement, either. It's literally just a fact that the passage of time devalues the price-tag.
This really hurts the narcissist in me to be honest jkjk, but also -- sometimes trying to be a high class seller on these platforms, with a few exceptions, feels like constantly being at war with the clipsite itself. The amount of customers the marketplace itself leads to my stores is marginal. If I drive most sales via my own marketing, I immediately wonder: "What am I paying you 40% for if you don't even cover chargebacks?"
I know why one does this, it's easy: Cheap prices generate quick sales in the here and now. Honestly I admire the strength of character of anyone who's able to put up with the budget customer base though, because I'm too fucking weak to pull it off.
Real, genuine question:
Can you even, really, be Gucci in this market? Because I know we sell digital goods here, so they are not inherently scarce, but they can be somewhat exclusive. Conventional wisdom tells me that if you sell exclusive goods at a discount, they're not exclusive. As a luxury, then, they become immediately undesirable. Anybody can afford them. That makes them bad. But a lot of people try selling exactly that. Well not everybody with a findom fetish is rich, that we all know - but it's weird that so many "high class" girls are selling their "high class" products at dumping prices.

PrincessAngel, I think most who can charge high prices for content these days also do other things, like cam, real sessions, etc. to help supplement their income. Unfortunately I think the prevalence of free porn (even free femdom porn, it's highly pirated) is what is devaluing this commodity. If guys can get what they want, by and large, a femdom wank, on a tube site they will, especially with this inflation and a coming recession. I'm planning to return to camming a bit, since a personal touch, a live experience, is something that can't be pirated or stolen. It's not my favourite form of SW at ALL but one has to adapt to the times. And cam tends to feed clips and vice versa. It bothers me too that my prices have had to stay the same to keep getting enough sales to pay my (exorbitant) bills, while we are expected to not raise our prices because our customers are suffering. Sadly our work is super devalued because of the availability of free and cheap (OF) content. Sigh. I've been since around long before 2009, and I miss the old days.

A few years ago, I increased my prices and never looked back. I had found some of my content on a few tube sites and it really pissed me off. So I figured if I increased my prices, that would deter that. I assume that most of the guys who do that are cheapskates anyway, so...good riddance! *I* value my content and the work I put in to create it and I will price it accordingly. After all, each of us is creating UNIQUE fetish content. If someone wants my content, they will pay my prices or they won't get it.
Sure a guy can go to a tube site and jerk off to any woman who does whatever fetish he has. But that is not the type of customer I am looking to attract. He's already shown he's a cheapskate by not paying for his porn. So personally, I don't think that hurts my bottom line. The majority of my customers have been with me for years.
And I know inflation is crazy right now....groceries are expensive, gas is ridiculous, but I don't care. Clips have always been a luxury expense. I'll never discount my content.
I have customers that are willing to pay $100 (and up) for a clip. Not a lot (mind you! lol) but they are pretty consistent. I have customers that are willing to pay around $50 or $25 for a clip. I have customers who binge and customers consistently buying my new content. Men HAVE money. If they want something, they will pay for it. If they want YOU and YOUR content, they will pay for it. I never think about the cheap guys because they don't value me or my content. They don't figure in.
I don't know what "Gucci" pricing is but I LOVED the Swatch reference! (Do they even still make Swatches??)
I think the average clip producers maybe uses the C4S suggested pricing of $1 a minute. So a 9 minute clip...$9.99 (or maybe $8.99). Back in the day, I'd always price my clips $1 over that (so $10.99). But now I'll price a 9 minute clip anywhere from $12.99 to $18.99 or higher (depending on content). I'm happy with that.

Did you find that you had a drop in the number of customers after raising the prices? If so, did the increase in pricing offset the loss?

Honestly, that's hard to answer. While I track all of my sales, I've never kept track of how many individual customers I've had buy from me every month. I'm sure I could figure it out, but it would be pretty time consuming.
I've only been doing this for the past few years and I did not increase the prices on my older content (except for one category that I noticed was the most pirated). And I have to say, I've had some record sales months over the past few years. I do not regret my decision at all.
I was a little nervous of doing it, but SO determined. I mean, when you think about the amount of work that goes into ONE clip...it's really INSANE that we charge what we do. There is the planning, hair, make-up, outfits, lighting, equipment, setting everything up, shooting clips, uploading, editing, making previews, descriptions, etc and constantly having to be creative. Are we really ripping-off the customer by charging a few more bucks for our efforts? I don't think so. And really, if more clip producers did it, it would become the NORM.
And any guy that thinks "that's too much" just won't buy from me and I wouldn't want him as a customer anyway! lol I want customers that appreciate and value the content I create and are willing to pay for it.

^THIS. You explained this so well. I never understood why a dollar per minute was the norm, yet these sites take 40% of clips they had nothing to do with making. I know, clips4sale has traffic but 40% is extremely high. They do it because they think we don't know any better. Just like strip clubs taking a high cut of dancer earnings. But what you said is so true, clips are a luxury. We are shooting fetish content. We are also judged for what we do and we can't turn around and run for office after this lol. Don't worry about other performers with low rates-focus on your brand. Also, my best-selling clips are $12.99 and up. I had one clip sell very well and it was $27.99. If guys want it, they will buy it :)

For my last three clips, I increased the price with 2USD more than C4S suggested price, which I always used before (or even less if the clip is long) These new clips haven't made very good sales (at least yet) but if that is because of the pricing is impossible to say. It is incredibly random. I have a clip that is still in the category top list after several years (!) It has made me an incredible amount. I made several attempts at similar clips and they never do that well, if even average. Only thing I can think of is this clip was kinda first with some details. It's not better, it's not incredible in it's production, it was just a little more unique at it's time so it keeps popping up high on the list which is what keeps it getting noticed.
This month and May have been in my top 5 best months ever. I've sold more one off, old clips than usual. Maybe it indicates increased traffic of new site visitors browsing, but it's just a theory. The big chunk of the good earnings are a handful of customers that keep coming back for customs. I consider that individual fulfilled request the "luxury". I charge 10USD/min for customs but also increased this now to 12USD/min. Hopefully more will follow and set a new norm. 2 dollars is pretty much what a YEARLY raise should have been from the start.

About quality: I do think quality will play a part in the long run. If you are not good, people might buy that random clip but they won't come back.
But - _quality_ is more than production value, professional equipment and resolution. I am convinced acting/performance ability is much more important, and creativity second - doesn't mean you have to be unique every time, just something that makes you YOU. If you can ALSO top that with professional looking shots, great. But it won't be as important as being able to connect through the lens. Dick Sucking Lips is a great example. It has a vibe of "oh look what I shot on my phone last night lol". I'm not surprised "amateur" is so popular, ppl have seen the classic porn production with clean cuts and even lighting a million times.
And yeah, marketing is everything, as in every business ever. And because of algorithms and how social media works today, it's far from fair. But consistency will take you somewhere over time even if it doesn't look like it short term. Even a clip that doesn't sell might push interest towards your other clips.
I don't do ANY marketing, I just put my clips up. I consider C4S's cut the marketing budget, whether deserved or not. It would sure help to market myself outside of C4S. It would be necessary if I wanted to turn clip making into a full time living (it is a third of my total income though so I can't be without it at this point) But marketing takes a LOT of time and effort and require skills I don't have. And also I find it dull af :P
