^knew I couldn't be the only one that did that! When I'm seriously just too freaking exhausted to make another clip after kiddo goes to bed I just throw some similar clips together and poof, updated status and basically no extra work. Guys really do love them too.

I posted this as a reply in another thread - Where to sell your videos - but I thought it might be appropriate here as well since almost all my sales comes from Clips4Sale.
Here's the thing: the established sites are not only getting a cut for providing traffic (without which, you have no sales) but they are also charging for processing the payment - and that's where your options really become limited. You can't use PayPal or Square with adult, so there goes the easiest payment option at only 3%. Adult processing is considered "high risk" so the companies charge higher rates - on average 14.5%. In addition, there are now $500 annual fees EACH for Visa and MasterCard. So if you're selling through your own site, you have to come up with $1,000 before one sale. Then you have to pay 14.5% to process the payments. And you have to drive traffic to your site - and maintain it was well. We all know that time is money, so keep that in mind when looking at the 40% that clips4sales gets for their end of the deal.
I looked at CamRedeem - it's in Beta right now and says it's free - but nowhere does it say what their cut is. And I'm sure it won't be free forever. Plus, I couldn't sign up as a customer. So if there are no customers, you're not going to make any sales - unless I'm missing some part of the equation.
I've spent the past year looking at every way possible way to sell Adult digital downloads. Some people do use PayPal - I looked at using DropBox and ContentShelf.com for the downloads, but Adult is against their Terms of Service. That's a game I don't want to play because I intend to be in the business long-term.
I have my own site as well as clips4sale. I started with ccbill, but they really aren't meant for a small producer. I switched over to Surfnetcorp.com. First, they are adult friendly. Next, they have different options which are great for someone starting out, because there's no payment up front. The split is 65/35, a little better than clips4sale, but you have to drive all your own traffic - and that takes time, effort and know-how. What's good about them is as your volume of sales goes up, they will give you up to 85% of sales - I don't know at what level, but I'm nowhere near that. When your business takes off, you can switch to a monthly plan that starts at $99.00 a month (even though it says $29.99 on their website), depending on volume and bandwith. And when you make it really big, they will help you get your own Merchant Account. So it seems like a good company to grow with. And it was very easy to integrate their processing gateway into my WordPress site.
But I've made the huge majority of my sales through clips4sale - even though I've spent hours and hours setting up blogs and using social media and SEO techniques to drive traffic to my own site. And last week I got an email from a Brazilian customer who said his MasterCard wouldn't go through on my site - I sent him to clips4sale and the next morning woke up to see he bought six compilation videos - my cut was $100! Now different credit card processors "scrub" cards differently - which is why it's good to have a couple of options. Bigger producers use multiple processors - this is called "cascading billing" where if one processor rejects a card, it defaults to the next and the next - in a couple of seconds so the customer doesn't know it. But using three processors would cost you $3,000 upfront in Visa and MasterCard fees and they still get 14.5% AND THEY GIVE YOU NO TRAFFIC.
To sum up, I'm with you - I want to keep as much of the pie as possible. But nobody provides services for free. It's up to you to figure out how much time you're willing to put in to drive traffic as opposed to using sites that have traffic. It's a process that's ongoing and I'm still figuring it out.
Good luck!

Camredeem isn't a site to sell stuff, there is no payment option, it's just a mediafire type deal specifically designed for the adult industry. When they're done with beta testing they'll charge per ticket (one ticket for one download, a unique code so no sharing)
It kinda rocks my socks, I've seen a huge decrease in the amount of my videos floating around the internet since I started using it.
Just throwing that out there :)

Yeah, I've always wanted to do that, but I just don't think I have enough clips already. But I'm definitely going to try it someday.
Ah, that was my response for Randy's first post :) It seems you posted more after it, but I didn't saw it until my post went on :)
Anyway, I decided to give it a try right now and I'm making my first compilation video :)

@RandyBell you accept payment elsewhere and provide them with a link. They have no rules about what you can post and how you get paid, and since I have a decent following for clips already I use it a lot. Guys just email me asking what I've got new that week and I send them a list, if they want something they buy it and I give them the link.
It isn't a clip store so it can't be compared to c4s etc, completely different animal.

That sounds great for someone like you (or anyone) with a following. CamRedeem is acting as a host for your media and you collect the payment however you want - PayPal or Square. Great idea for someone on cam!

It's great, but definitely no paypal.
try amazon gift cards, or giftrocket. I also sometimes take payment through mygirlfund and then give them the link since they have really crap video quality and low size limits there.

Just wanted to let you know, Paypal will fine you/ freeze bank accounts / ban your paypal account for even a hint of adult activity. You may not have been caught yet but eventually they will get you.
Never use them to take payments.
Square's terms of service also does not allow anything adult related.

Thanks for the heads up, but I only use Clips4Sale and Surfnetcorp.com for my own site. As an aside, Epoch, which is a big processor for Adult sites has just incorporated PayPal into their payment gateway - but only for European customers. I think it's only a matter of time before PayPal is an option for US-based customers.

Can my 2257 address differ from the main address on my profile?
Both properties are my "home" but one is my family home, and I don't want that on my 2257 address.. because.. my family don't know what I do.
What is a 2257 address used for anyway? Do UK people need it? :/
Also do I need to sign a model release? Even though I opened my clip store and I'm the only model?

I want to do as suggested, and have some clips exclusive to my membership site/ others just on Clips4sale. In 'add clip' I see how to add it without adding it to the members site, but how do I add it to the members site without it showing up on the regular Clips4Sale(my store number) page?
Yikes, nevermind, the checkbox right under that allows it to be active on the store.

Sorry if this sounds like I'm trying to be spoonfed but how do u research a fetish? When I start making clips when i get a better computer (i need a better comp sadly i tried making clips with the one i have now and the vid card cant do it the comp is even popping up with errors saying its my vid card when my programs are crashing if i try to film -_- ) I'm going to start with hairstyles make-up wigs eating and other bbw fetishes and body part fetishes i just did a search for make up and wig fetish and all i came up with were sites that ppl talked about having a 'fetish' in like OMG i love wigs OMG i love make-up fetish not like OMG wigs turn me on sooo much or OMG make-turns me on sooo much. is there like a site with like a fetish encyclopedia or a better way to input things in google aside from ___ fetish/click?
EphemeronXOXO

Snowy if you go on c4s main site you can see an extremely long list of fetishes there are on the site by clicking on the fetishes list and all you have to do is choose from them if there is something you are not familiar with simply click on them and take a closer look on what do they do under that fetish name. And if after it it is also not clear enough simply google it but dont forget to add the word fetish after the exact name.
Edit: https://www.stripperweb.com/forum/showthread.php?184986-top-fetishes-for-video-clips
And hereby I promise you I wont try again!

Maryjaynexo has a fetish blog (http://maryjayneoncam.com), you could check that out, or browse fetish forums, read erotic stories, watch fetish videos on tube sites. You can try to only get your inspiration from C4S too, but guys love it when you are creative and use your own ideas in the clips. It's not always immediately clear what a fetish is about, or it's about so many things you can get confused; for example feeder/feedee: you can sell clips where you eat; clips where you weigh yourself and talk about gaining weight; clips where you beg to be fed; all kinds of role play; clips where you show off you body; clips where you measure your body parts; clips where you get fed by someone (with nudity or without nudity); AND clips where you humiliate the viewer; where you talk about how disgustingly fat they are; where you "make them" eat more and more; brainwashing videos; clips where you feed someone else..........I could go on all day long and this is just ONE category. If you take a look at top 50 feeder/feedee clips, I'm sure at any given time you can find all these clips there - you can do all of these, they all MIGHT sell; or they all might go on unnoticed. It's a huge learning curve, give it time and lots of dedication:) If you like what you're doing, you'll search for related things on the internet anyway and it will come easy. If you search on C4S alone, you are left with descriptions and gifs and they might or might not depict accurately what's going on in the clip itself.
If you want to seriously get into a category, you have to understand what's going on in the fetishist's mind; where exactly are those magic buttons. The easiest way btw for me is always when someone emails me about a fetish clip, or just to say thanks for a video and so on... it's easy to get guys to talk about their fetishes, I'm genuinely interested and they can feel this, they talk about their fetishes and I learn a lot from someone who really knows what's what.
This is my experience anyway.:)

Think about also what you like and could talk about. Clips don't always have to be role plays, candid clips sell too and they like to know what turns you on and how you experience things. Connect with them in some way in anything that you do and put your heart into it. Ideas also come to me as I'm making the clip and in the creative flow, or I get an idea for another clip as I'm making one.

That happens to me SO much! Like I'll be doing a pillow humping video or something, and I begin it by moving my butt or something before I go into the main humping.. and then I'll think "Ooh! Whilst I'm here I may as well do a booty shaking video too!" XD
While I love it when that happens, it does occasionally make editing a real bitch!

I get the best ideas/most ideas from browsing C4S itself and thinking about why the top clips are top in their categories, watching porn, or sometimes I'll just have a random assortment of items that give me ideas for different clips. I like to sit down and write for a little while with more complicated clips, but as Katy said candid clips can sell great too :)

First, I want to say thank you to all of you that have posted in here... I just finished reading all 55 pages and took notes for future reference...slightly crossed eyed now, LOL. I will be heading over to sign up now, I sure wish I would have known about C4S years ago!
I do have a few questions that I did not see posted:
Can you use older material? I have tons of clips that were taken over the last several years (for personal use, as in for the hubby) and when I was telling him about this, he asked about using what we had on hand to get started with, while I get started on the new.
I did scan through last night and today the C4S site and the categories, and while I have started making a list of what I thought would be a good fit for me or to research more on - I noticed I didn't see any water play (pool, hot tub, beach, etc. (I could have just overlooked it though) Any thoughts on that?
And I wasn't sure about this either - Can we use military (obviously not using the unit patches, but rather generic ones) uniform? Or camo in general? I ask only because the hubby had already asked if I would do photo's for him in it. As I still have my ACU's and combat boots, collecting dust in the attic. :) just a thought.
Again, I want to say thank you! I have found a lot of valuable info just in this thread alone (as well as from other ones on SW). I am sure I will have more questions later on.

No reason not to use stuff you already have, you never know! I also can't see why a costume military uniform would be a problem, I've got one I've been meaning to break out for awhile now.
Good luck :)

RE: Waterplay. Funny you mention that, as just the other day I stumbled on a popular C4S studio all about waterplay. Thing is, it revolved around dunking the girl and making her do sexual stuff underwater, one of the clips was "Oh no, she drowned" or something like that.(Not saying your water-play is the same or that it has to be as extreme) It is so disturbing to me that I don't want to search to find it again; maybe I came close to drowning in the past and have blocked it out.
Anyway, yes that is a thing and yes you can use older footage. :-)

No, what I had in mind wasn't anything like drowning (as have known too many close friends whom have had children who had narrow escapes, so I guess for me it is a big no no.) I was thinking more in the lines of doing something with feet and water, maybe toys... still in the brainstorming portion. Since I adore the beach and get there every chance I can, I was trying to figure out how to incorporate the time I spend there. :)
As to the older footage, I have changed so drastically (appearance wise: i.e I was a 40 DDD and now am a 34DD) that I was wondering if I needed to label it older or just not say anything and let them think whatever it is they think. Obviously if I do any custom clips, I will not look like what I did in those clips... and with CB possibilities I didn't want to false advertise so to speak. LOL

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply what your water clips portray, I meant that there is a fetish for things to do with water. Regular sex on the beach and hot tub would probably be popular too. There is a 'swimming' category you can check out on C4S. I just got carried away w/ being freaked out by my dunking/ drowning phobia while writing that.
As far as your changed appearance goes, you can always put the clips up to get your store going while you make updated clips in the meantime, and explain you've lost weight to any custom requesters if necessary. The site allows you to change and tweak things to experiment and find out what works best for you.

Oh, no.. I didn't think you did. :) I was just clarifying was all. I finally got everything scanned and ready to go, but it was after 8 here so I know I probably won't hear back until Tuesday/Wednesday depending on how busy they are. Quick question, I went ahead and sent in a scan of my electric bill, but it looked as if that was only for people outside the U.S. ? Can anyone clarify that? Just wondering is all.

@gingerstripper:The only way to really know what you're best at is give it a try, I'd make at least 3 clips in any fetish you're interested in before you try and give it a read though.
I can get 1,000 hits on a particular day and only make like $40, other days my sales are higher than my hits. They aren't always proportionate, so don't stress.
@Ashley-3: I haven't heard a positive reason for doing a members site. Everyone I've talked to just says it's a great way to get your videos pirated and certainly doesn't make you a lot of money.

With work I haven't been able to upload and my hits have dropped dramatically. Am going to try to get some videos in soon though. By the way, does anyone know if there's any sort of specific fetish for menstrual cups? I know there's menstruation but anything specifically for those? I'm non nude so it'd mostly be me holding the cup and talking about (I guess? I'm still new and not the most creative) but I figure if I HAVE to painfully expel part of my uterus, i might as well get paid for it.
Ashley_3

There is no menstruation fetish on C4S and blood is not allowed. So I don't think your cups would be even allowed there.
AureliaC
07-23-2013, 09:31 PM
@athenalovelace: There's no blood, so any period clips can't show anything and there's no category for it really. I do a fair amount of "oh my these cramps hurt so bad" clips, but always with other fetishes so I have a category to upload them to

I am starting to get more than slightly frustrated.
I emailed support over a week ago to get an email address changed on my store. Answered all the questions they sent me. Was promptly ignored for days even after sending emails checking in. Then I opened a SECOND ticket where I complained about the first ticket and was asked to answer all the questions I had already send again and then was.....you guess it promptly ignored for days.
Any suggestions to what I should do now? Opening a third ticket seems ridiculous at this point.

Doing a members site is great if you have 100's of videos. But if your just starting out its pretty silly. With a members site you want to have lots of old content available (as in only put older content in your members section). Why would you offer new content at a bulk discount, when it is so much more profitable to sell individual clips?

If you dont hate talking on the phone, Randy's idea of calling is probably a good bet.
Personally I always have great luck with using the Chat Support system. I feel emails get pushed aside but they cant avoid you if your chatting with them :P Hope you got your mailing situation worked out.

Important Safety Note For All Studio Owners
Watch out for e-mail phishing scams!
Recently we had a studio owner contact support saying someone wrote them using a GMail address (
[email protected]) and claiming to be "Mr. Clip" the "co-owner of Clips4Sale" and demanding they email all of their videos to them.
The exact email was as follows:
__________________________________________________ _________________
Subject: Your videos not working correctly

Mr. Clip? Seriously? Mr. Clip?
Phishing is serious business and should not be taken lightly! That being said, I can't help laughing my ass over the fact that this guy called himself 'Mr. Clip'.

Doing a members site is great if you have 100's of videos. But if your just starting out its pretty silly. With a members site you want to have lots of old content available (as in only put older content in your members section). Why would you offer new content at a bulk discount, when it is so much more profitable to sell individual clips?
It makes sense if there are more members. But I'm not sure this is the case as it doesn't look so popular. I'll think again to add some old clips, but not now as I'm still new, maybe in t he future. Thanks for the advice :)

I have to admit, I laughed pretty hard at this too. Also at: "so we was wondering if you could send us all your videos please". Sounds like a 13 year old kid, lol.

Hey ladies,
Does anyone know of a quick way to add html to a store profile that will link to my various categories? I'd love to have thumbnail images for my more popular categories that the guys could click on, but having trouble figuring out where the get the html for each category. Sorry if this is totally obvious!

Inserting an image with a link:
<a href="http://yoursite.com"target="_blank"><img src="http://locationofyourimage.com/" alt="alt text"</a>
You might want to use alignment tags or tables if you're using multiple images/links and want them a certain way.
