I haven't looked to see if they have changed this, but in the past C4S preferred smaller file sizes. But I am seeing more and more big files (for higher definition video) on the other studios.
Now I am thinking of loading the HD versions of all our clips during the next few weeks/months, which will not only give customers that option, but will increase hits to the studio. Anyone else thought of doing this?

HD does sell well...I like my file sizes to be too big, so I make them HD720, which is 1280x720.

Ok, So I need to get serious about this now. I need to make clips etc. My question is this, I currently have a Logitech C270 (I will upgrade in the coming months), can I still film decent clips on that or will it be more worth my time to just wait until I have a better HD setup?

I was selling clips using my old non-HD Logitech webcam, and I don't think it's affected my stores since moving to an HD webcam.
I saw on another thread that people can make fetish/vanilla videos and sell them on this site, Im wondering what is considered "vanilla" would it be like a vouyer kind of clip where they just watch u change, etc..?

Vanilla on C4S (I think as I tend to stay with fetish niches) is anything not kink or things that aren't really in the fetish categories. I mean yeah, a guy can have a fetish for upskirt, but there is tons of vanilla porn where girls tease with the camera below them...so probably a fine line when considering something fetish on that site. Things like regular sex, striptease, blowjobs, POV Sex, upskirt, solo masturbation...more like your standard porn are probably considered vanilla. I suppose voyeurism of some situations could be lumped in there.
Now if you are talking about non sex sexy vanilla type clips like changing clothes, showing of legs and stilettos, and that type of video, then yes they do exist, but you would definitely have to make them stand out in some way to make a decent income as there are so many competitors. But give it a try, and see what happens. :) Go through the list on the site of allllllll the interesting (crazy) categories on there and you will probably find quite a few you would be comfortable doing. However as many will agree, your niche tends to pick you on that site.

Is any one else having problems with the Rollover pic maker not working the past few days? I keep getting the following message:
"Task Queue failed at step 5: Playlist could not be loaded: Http Status 404; Not Found."
Pretty irritating because I like to choose the pic that is displayed on my clips because the automated way it is done sucks.

Erica, I actually gave that up a long time ago because it was slow and frustrating. You can use various programs to take a snapshot of the part of your clip you want to be your main photo, and then just upload when putting the clip description, etc.

Yea I usually upload a animated gif, but a few months ago they did an update and it would randomly choose a screen from the middle of the gif. I may have to check and see if they fixed it.
BlondebombGA
10-03-2014, 11:21 AM
Oh yeah, they def do. What I heard was it is the first image in the GIF, so maybe if you always set that how you want it, it will work as your pic.
BlondebombGA
10-03-2014, 11:23 AM
Now in the past, if I uploaded a jpg first, saved the description page without listing it yet on C4S and then uploaded the GIF in that same upload box and then listed it, my pic would come out as the Clip pic. Give that a try.

This keeps happening...I've had an image load after more than hour but other times not loaded at all, and you can see how old some of the broken images are for other studios. Email Studio Support so they can fix it.

I do okay sales with what I think of as my "vanilla" clips...they're just solo female masturbation, with or without dildo, vibrator, etc. And I've done a few stripping videos that have been popular...and I'm not an actual stripper, they were mostly just me goofing off and taking things off slowly.

Out of curiosity, what is the purpose of the related categories when posting a clip. The clip obviously gets posted in the main clip category but do the related categories have any effect? Same with the keywords option, how exactly does that help customers find your store/video? Are these sections worth spending time to fill out?

Question about one of the rules... "No non-consensual sex"...rules say you can't show sexual intercourse with someone who appears to be asleep. Does this include being caressing and stroked while asleep? I have made one that has NO graphic pussy shots and NO insertions, will this pass their censors?

When people type words into the search engine, it will factor in your keywords and related categories, giving you better visibility.
I'm not quite sure if it's significant enough to warrant all the differing sections, such as keywords that you type into the clip description, keywords that you type into the separate keywords sections, or related categories, but I always fill out all of mine as best I can just 'cuz.
Is anyone else not able to log into their studios? I just get an error page. :( I have clips to upload!
No, but sales have been weirdly slow for me lately. I think there's something up with C4S this week. Maybe residual from the maintenance work they were doing earlier.

ALSO...when I search for "sleep", a category match called "Sleeping Fetish" comes up next to some sleeping videos. Yet it's not in the drop down list, or in the list of Categories on the tab. There's not really anything else to cover it, I only want to upload a 5 min vid of me "sleeping", nothing even soft-core. Where would I find this category, or where else can I put it under?

Just a friendly reminder to everyone to make sure you that keep a close eye on your C4S earnings. I had $100 missing from this month's check. O.O
I have no doubt that C4S will get around to fixing it eventually but I wanted to give the heads up to everyone that you need to keep an eye on your earnings because these things can happen. :/

That video should be fine...check after it's been uploaded that certain words haven't been automatically deleted. It's not like AW, they don't check clips on upload. The only thing that might happen is someone else reporting the clip if they think it breaches the rules, so just make it clear what is in the clip.
Sounds like there used to be a category for sleeping fetish but they removed it. It would fit into voyeur, groping and fetish, maybe BBW too if you want size to be an aspect.

I'm searching for ideas of what to record....working out, eating, smoking...anything else? Also, how much do you price your clips for? How many clips do you do each week? How much money do you make and how do you promote? How long are your clips? Any information would be really helpful, thanks :-)

On C4S I tend to stick with the automatic pricing. A dollar per minute plus .99.
Hardcore (for me) clips I'll charge more for (up to double) for 30min + clips I'll sometimes lower the price to 19.99 or $25.99.
I promote on Twitter, email list, my website extra. If i'm on my clip game I most 5-7 clips per week. But ideally shoot for a number you can maintain, then update regularly. As for length, I take last months average clip length and record clips with that length as my goal.
Did it rebound for you?
Sales are still slow although I had one really good day last week. My traffic is the same as it's ever been but the first half of October has been slow. Hopefully it picks up soon.
Posted a new clip today and it seems the updating is all screwed up again. The clip didn't show up on the main page and didn't show up in the category's page I posted it in. Sent a ticket to them and they said they fixed it yet hours later my new clip has yet to show up in that category. This seems to be happening way more since they updated the site. Don't need this as sales have been crap this month. Going to stop posting clips until they fix this crap.

This has to do with Clips4Sale Search function. It will come up when they use the search or advanced search function internally. Good thing to have.If you match exactly what he puts in the search box they will usually buy as they are looking for something very specific. SO it does help with search hits but not for it being posted in more then just the main category. Think of these more as tagging your clip like for twitter searches.

People deal with C4S and their site with alll the issues due to believing its the ONE site that would never fuck someone over for money... and they are trying to fuck you out of money?
That is real bullshit, that would make a lot of people close accounts. I would be messaging the representative on this site over and over again, as well as support every day.
What they need to do is send you a special check with the balance they owe you, and not add it to the next check they are sending out.
Anyone who trusts c4s anymore, well... don't. At least till they clear up this issue. I bet you aren't the only one they owe money too, I wonder if they thought they could afford these updates and couldn't? So I wouldn't be surprised if you aren't the only one C4S owes money too, thats why they haven't cleared it up yet? Who knows?
I have no doubt that when I get Neil on the phone later this week that he will get it fixed right away....I just hate having to call him up and bug him because C4S support isn't doing their job properly and C4S support not doing their job properly seems to be happening more and more lately.

Does anyone know how your top 5 clips are supposed to be calculated?
The reason I ask is: mine have never ever been totally correct either by volume or $$ amounts. But now I notice it says I only sold 4 clips....
Has anyone else noticed that inaccuracy? I just find it very odd, and I did wonder for a brief few seconds whether there was a bit of skimming and that's why the top 5 don't match with sales # or $$
The other thing I have noticed in the past was sales receipts being a few cents wrong (I didn't realise they do stuff manual) or incomplete. Anyone else?

I hope this is true, and they get it cleared up. Then I will take back what I say, and change the post - if you want to change the quote its your choice. So I hope you report back with good news. C4S support has never helped me, I once sent a set of 9 screenshots with obvious errors and they sent back that they have found no errors, though I had 9 pieces of proof of errors. I think at least they should invest in getting better support back.
Neil is a great guy, from what I heard, so I hope you send back good news. Like I said, just no one trust them until we hear good news back.... at least I won't.

I believe it was this thread, or on another forum, someone had an issue with every check being a few cents wrong, and they cleared that up. I don't know if that is a common issue, or not. But I would call Neil like justanothercamgirl and not bother with support.

The top clips sales rankings factor in sales volume over a recent period of days (I think it weighs the past week most heavily). It just tells you what's been moving most recently in your store - and less about what has sold the most overall.

Hello peeps,
I just got my first custom request. When we agreed on a price via email he suggested a tribute, but I emailed him back and told him that to avoid either of us getting in trouble I would put it up in my store as a custom clip. A few minutes later, I get a tribute for an amount that was actually higher than the amount we agreed on, followed by another email "Okay, I just sent you that tribute!" Yikes. How do I handle this?

Oh my freaking GOD, Producer Support is annoying the crap out of me right now.
I asked a question about reuploading some custom clips that an old custie requested. - They previously featured his name and personal info about him, but I have edited all that out and now want to reupload them publicly. I am worried though, that he could get those taken down, resulting in further strikes against my account.
Reason being: Before, this guy verbally agreed to feature in one of my clips, but later got pissy and (without even bothering to contact me so I could remove it), filed a DMCA against me that resulted in a strike. Big mistake on my part, I know, as there as no written signature / signed docs, but C4S also asked him if he would like "any other" of my clips to be removed, which made me paranoid about where the boundaries actually are in taking down content. i.e. If I am free to reupload those customs he requested that have all evidence of him removed. I know it sounds paranoid, but I just wanted to be sure before I went ahead and uploaded them.
C4S support just keep COMPLETELY missing my point about this, and just threatening me with "He had every right to issue a DMCA and I am advising you now to remove any content you do not have the proper documents for". Like what the fuck? Is my point that hard to understand?
