I've noticed a trend with my sales...at the start of the month I will get sales every so gle day. Normally minimum of about $25 up to 40/60. Dead on the middle of month I get a slump where suddenly not one single sale....its stressing me out. My goal is a measily $1000 a month an every month I start off thinking ohh I may male it this month then well middle of the month happens an it goes to hell from there. :(

Hi, I'm new here but I've been lurking on this thread as I am a clip producer/model myself. I know what you mean about bad sales days being discouraging. If you let it, it can kill your motivation to make new clips (at least it has for me at times), because I've thought "why bother? sales have been crappy lately anyway?" But there is always going to be good sales days, GREAT sales days, bad sales days and sometimes the occasional OMGWTF??!! sales days.

What I find helpful, and you might too, is to print off a calendar and write down the days you update and write down your sales for every day. See if there is a correlation. (I don't know if you update every single day or not). And do this for every month. This is my 3rd year on C4S and I compare the current month to the previous years (So...Sept 2015 to Sept 2014 and 2013) and I do see trends, especially around the holidays. Summer months, holidays, paydays, updates (type, frequency)...a lot of things can affect sales.

To those with multiple stores already: Do you think daily updates are still needed for all of the stores? Or do you think you are able to get away with less frequent updates since you are catering to a specific set of people that are more likely to pick up on your scheduling habits?

I don't have multiple stores (just one) and I know your question was aimed at those that do, but you also asked if it's okay to do less frequent updates. While I do agree that there is no doubt that you will make more if you update every day, don't feel like you HAVE to do that. When I first started my clips store, my goal was to post a brand new clip every day. That only lasted about a month and a half and after that I kinda got burnt out. :-/ Now I only post 3-4 times a week and I put my all into those clips. I feel they are better because I don't get creativity burn-out now. Could I be making more if I posted every day? Probably, but my sales are increasing from month to month and so I'm pleased with that. Do what works for you! There are a lot of factors in clip sales. Could your descriptions be improved upon? How enticing are your preview gifs? Do you have a following for certain fetishes? How is your lighting and quality of your videos? Are you testing out new categories once in a while? I know a lot of people feel that you NEED to update every day, and I see where they are coming from, but I just wanted to add a different view to the discussion. I think if you have a few fetishes you really do well with, stick with those and try to put a fresh spin on them once in a while, you will build up a loyal following over time.

What was the problem? I just noticed I don't appear on the main page of a category where I posted a vid. It's not a very popular category so I should be there, but I'm not. I looked at other categories where I posted and I appear on the page, there is just one in particular where I don't appear. Weird.

Also, when I program a vid for future activation I always choose the tweet option, but it doesn't work. It will tweet on my account only when I post my vid for immediate activation. Anybody else have that problem?

Hi, I have a couple of C4S content related questions and I wanted to see what you guys think before I make any videos that might not be allowed...

I have a few vintage fox fur stoles with heads on etc., and wanted to do some clips with them, would they be allowed as technically they are animals (albeit long deceased) as opposed to manufactured cuddly toys for example? I know fur is allowed of course but does the fact they have heads and legs make a difference?

I also wanted to do a clip eating oysters, would this be allowed as obviously raw oysters have to be alive when you eat them?

Thanks in advance for any help with this guys!

I would assume the fox stole would be fine? I mean it's no longer alive I would personally class it in the same vein as a teddy. I would email support to see what they would class it as because all it says is no animals anywhere.

I would class oysters as food, they aren't going to be moving. I guess it was how you positioned the video as long as you weren't like "oh I'm going to eat this oyster, it's alive, etc" then it would be fine.

Hi , they told me that it was a technical problem so the programmers solved the problem with my account by aplying an upgrade. Didnt know how they did that , but its working fine for me now.

About the tweet option no idea.

But contact with Support by e-mail ! ( Not from the page ) attaching all the screenshots of your problem. Once you get an aswer wait 24 hours. Then if there isnt a new answer , reply the first answer mail asking about what are the news with your ticket.

Hope it helps

Thanks for the replies, no I wouldn't make a point or mention that the oysters are alive, that's just how it is when you eat them. I love oysters, cooking them is just sacrilege in my opinion!

No they should be alive if you eat them raw. When you squeeze the lemon on them they will twitch slightly. If not they are dead and you definitely shouldn't eat them as you could get ill.

I'm having the same problem as a few of the other ladies in that my clips aren't showing up in their categories, only on the front page :(. I'm scared to message support though, I had to a few times when I was setting up my store and they were incredibly rude.

Very interesting. People from c4s never were rude to me. Maybe they sound rude, i know they have ppl from Russia there, they may sound rude. But in fact they are not.
Even if someone was rude. They are not gonna bite you via phone.

Just weekly updates to secondary stores and more frequent for your main store...in my experience.

Only if you link back clips4sale.

So I have to have a link on the page I'm referring to in order for c4c to allow a outgoing link? I do advertise my clip store on my Twitter but it's not allowed on the other sites. The Twitter one isn't clickable either though.

Random but I just need to vent….

It is so discouraging when I make clips and my sales are still down. Although I must admit that I haven't been making as many clips as I have in the past. And I did kinda slack off the past couple weeks. So there's my answer lol. My store wasn't in the front lines, I got pushed back with the lack of uploads.
Like yesterday I was so excited about the two clips I uploaded since I felt I did a good job on them, and then when i don't get many sales it bummed me out. But helloooo if I hand't slacked off this month this most probably wouldn't be happening.
It's so sucky when my mood is off because of certain things going on in my life. It definitely affects my enthusiasm to make clips & be productive. Or I procrastinate. I hate that.
Okay, I needed this bit of therapy lol. I think I feel better.

Thanks for reading if you did & I hope you are having a good day. =)

@Nathalia I'm discouraged too... When I started my store I was posting 1 clip a day (well 2 versions of the same clip in 2 categories) and I always made at least 1 sale per day. Now I'm posting 2-3 clips per day and I had many 0 sales days... I am wondering if I'm doing something wrong or if the site gets slow at that time of the month/year... I started c4s in mid August. I wanted to stop camming and just make clips but I'll have to start camming again cause money is not there. I decided to open a second store and try to post in completely different categories. I hope it will help.

Ditto. Usually on the days I post an update (I don't update everyday) I make at least X amount on those days, last week, I made half that. And that hasn't happened since July. The 18th-21st totally sucked for sales this month. Unusually so. And yes, it's very frustrating. But, sales this month were much better up until the 14th or so. So, you're not alone.

I also wanted to switch from camming to making vids, but girlllllll. Not put all eggs in one bucket!maybe manage your day wisely. First record after cam. Try to expand on more sites.
I dont think this month is bad.. I did not updated at all and i made ok money!
Maybe try new fetishes.
Do it for the sake of creativity, money will catch up!
When you make updates 3-4 per day, how long are your vids?
I want to just tell to you guys who update 3-4 vids per day! I cant even come up with so many ideas to make so many vids! Be proud of yourself you are so creative!
Every business has its up and downs not let it discourage yourself.

I have been away for a few days, but coming back to read the recent posts is pretty depressing, isn't it? The "best" post I read was about how to get loud farts ;) But I don't have a solution to that.

These past posts about low sales being depressing, sales going down while effort and update frequency have been increased - those downs are what I am trying to warn about as often as I can (hopefully witout being annoying) on adult-income.com. I have been through that and actually, it never ends. There will always be non-explicable sales crashes. Out of the blue. Or even more cruel: you work and work but you see a downward trend and your sales get lower from day to day over a longer period of time. Every day you think: today the tides will turn. But they don't. The first days, you work even harder to force a change, but you don't succeed.

Actually, one of the most valuable things I have learned over the years are indeed a few things that you can do, that can break such a trend. I had to reach deep and use one of those interventions last month as well. Everything was going downhill. Then the intervention really got me back on track and, I admit with lots of luck, 7 days later I was on #44 on the main toplist. I think for a day or two, maybe you saw me :P

There are so many mechanisms that can be understood and even more that we can't, that it's difficult to influence our sales reliably. Obviously, if it were easy, no one would be struggling..

I have had a struggle with adult-income.com as well. I had put a lot of time into free advice but neglected my stores. It was a little like fleeing from reality: I felt bad for not keeping up, but a little less bad because I could help others. I now got myself together again and am able to continue working on adult-income as well as my stores. It's not easy though.

To get back to those bad sales days. I notice that you try to find the same ways out of this as I used to. Like searching for reasons on c4s, in the calendar, searching for new clipsites, asking yourself if you should open another store, probably googling a lot... a lot of these activities are time wasters. They are totally reasonable and understandable, but they don't help. They are more like my fleeing into making adult-income - they make you feel better briefly, but at the end of the month, you did not earn enough to pay your bills and you KNOW that you wasted a lot of time that you could have used to prevent that.

Every situation is different and some might not be able to "sit this out" for a few months without becoming homeless. But my advice is not giving up. I have to refine that a bit, because in one of my beginner guides I don't mention that there ARE times where you should pull the plug - at least on your category that has failed you - and try somewhere else. But I will completely change the setup of adult-income.com this month anyway. Break it down in smaller parts that are easier to understand. Write more advanced guides, add video tutorials and I will probably have to start adding some sort of monetization, like selling articles, as I am paying for all of it right now and when I get bigger it gets more expensive.

Although I wish to keep the basic articles free and only charge for information that will actually benefit you much more than it costs. Locking some of the content should also protect my "advanced" works a little bit. You know the struggle, we are all in this piracy boat.

To react to this "great depression" I think I should implement another idea that I have had for a while. Let's see how that turns out. It looks like I talked myself into promising things again, but nono. I won't. I can only assure you that I am giving it my all and that everyone is going through bad sales periods, no matter how "big" they are. It will probably turn out that changing the color on one headline (so to speak) will take me half a day and everything takes a million times longer than I envision now, so keep that in mind please :P Just know that someone is trying to help motivate you and get you through this - if you are struggling at the moment and if you care about what I am able to say about this business.

I guess you could take it that way, I didn't. People need to vent their frustrations. This isn't a 'normal' (9-5) job, in that you don't get a paycheck for a set amount every week. Different factors affect clip sales (and our paychecks) and it's not like people with 'normal' jobs can really understand these frustrations. That's why they come here to voice their issues to others who are in the same boat.

Looking over Sept, it wasn't a horrible month (personally). Yeah, my sales were down from Aug, but I also had $150.00 in chargebacks/refunds (credit card fraud) and there were a couple of things, in hindsight, I could have done differently. Which I'll be making those changes in/for October.

And btw, I saw you on the Top 50! I recognized your username from here.

I actually thought about making at least some sort of plan for at least something (like my website) but then I didn't. Instead, I have "old school" 150 small pieces of paper flying around my desk here with all kinds of notes on it. Another 100 in my drawer.. :O

Sinna your site is awesome and you provide so much for free, I don't blame you if you start selling articles! I for one look forward to reading them!

That actually is awesome to read. But guess what, I again have some major difficulties with finding a payment processor.. since it got adult in it's name, paypal is no option. They don't like me anyway. But most software I can use only supports paypal and.. ah, you know, that's my problem. I just think it might be a while before any monetization happens.

What I absolutely won't do is put any links there that could harm my readers, like an affiliate link to a website that takes a cut out of your sales to fund the affiliate (like yezzclips does. If a customer buys from you, but he is enrolled in someone's affiliate program, YOU pay for that by getting much lower % than if the customer were not in a program).

And of course you know those webcam agencies that take your money and don't do anything. I fell for one of those as well.. luckily never earned them money. But it did close down many cam sites for me, because THEY signed me up there.

Well, back to work :) (By the way, had a good day yesterday, then NOTHING today. It's so ironical. But when I take yesterday and today, divide by 2 and do as if I earned that amount on each day, it's okay :P)

Yeah I was just venting =) And really it was my own fault because I had slacked off with my clip making/uploads & consequently my sales dropped a bit.
This month started off great & it's because I actually put the work in lol. I know this works differently for everyone but I have found that with me personally, more new videos = more sales & vice versa.
I'm hoping to stay focused this month & have one of my best sales totals yet. Sometimes I wish I was way more disciplined. I tend to get distracted or procrastinate. Hey if anyone here wants to keep each other motivated with making clips feel free to message me =)

Btw, thank you for the information you provide Sinna. I did see you on the Top 50 last month. Congrats! That is my goal one day soon I hope. I would scream so loud with excitement if I ever saw my studio name on the Top 50 of C4S lol. I feel I have the potential. I just have to stay out of my own way.

K Happy Clip Making!

Just an update because my last post was depressing. I lauched my second store and that was the best idea ever! I'm trying very different categories and posting 2-3 clips a day. I had a very good start so far and I am super happy! I am still posting 1-2 clips everyday in my first store and I also had good sale days this week. It may not be a lot compared to the top studios but I really think it's good for me because I started in mid-August. So when I have bad days I have to think about the positive side of things and remember that it will get better! Also yesterday I had a custom clip order, 100$ for 5 min clip!

For those wondering how can a person post 4-5 clips a day... I studied the category list. I went throught the list multiple times. I copy/pasted the list and removed everything I can't do/don't want to do, and then I made different lists of categories: body parts, accessory/piece of clothing, action, domination, etc. So when I am making clips I always consult my lists and choose whatever I am in the mood for. Some categories involve more work then other. The body part category can be very simple, just showing a particular body part, you don't even have to talk or you can do a simple tease or JOI. Domination is more complicated and involve more scenario. Personally, because I'm French Canadian I try to avoid making clips with a lot of talking because it takes forever to memorize a script. I prefer making 10 body parts clips instead of 1 domination clip. You have to find what works best for you and what will maximise your time. Also sometimes I shoot in the same room all day because I hate moving my gear 10 times a day. I think about all the possible vids I could do in the same room, this is like a creative challenge for me. But like I said I started in mid-August so I'm still very new to this, not an expert at all. I just wanted to share my method.

Sinna I read your entire blog and read some articles multiple times. You website is my C4S Bible and it helped me so much! You should put a "Donate" button somewhere on the website so people can send money for appreciation of all the work you have done!

Actually, I have a similar method that I wanted to write an article about as well, but I am still stuck on so many articles in draft status :P Your post can be very helpful to people not focusing on any category in particular. Do you have any experience about spreading to all new categories vs focusing on a few and climbing the toplists? My personal experience is that it's more sustainable to keep a smaller range.

The donate button is something I can try for sure with a little detour to my payment processor that I already have. As donators won't be customers, it's probably not that big of a problem that you have to do two more clicks to send the money (normally, the more clicks something needs to be purchased, the lower the sales as many people bounce during the process). So yeah, I'll add that :) Maybe it even helps with the payment processor accepting my site. Good idea!

I think I might start producing 2 diff formats of my clips, like a regular HD version vs mobile cell phone smaller version. However I don't want my main/front page to be flooded with 2 versions of a clip. How do I make it so that one of them only shows up on the first page, and maybe the other version shows up on the last page? I have tinkered around with some of my older clips and it doesn't seem to be working for me. Thanks ladies!

Does anyone else get notifications that there is a new reply to this thread by ruinator and then there is nothing? It's the third mail I am getting. I don't want to unsubscribe from the thread, but I think the subscription is not working. I often don't get an email when there ARE new posts and now I am getting emails although there are no new posts.

I just write this post to see if it repairs things :P By the way, I added two customers to the customer article on adult income. The bully and the trickster. Now this post won't be useless :)

I think there was a delay on the server a few days ago, which is now sorting itself out. The notifications for all my subscribed threads are all trickling through to me now.

Hi , how are you people ? !

I got a question. How do you manage yourselves with custom clips ?
A client ask me for a custom clip , and i contact him by e-mail.
After i make the clip , he will give me a tribute for this custom clip , but my problem is ... HOW I SEND THAT CLIP TO HIM ?

I cannot upload it , because that will mean that he has to give me the Tribute + The price of the Clip, right ?
And a 1 GB file is too large to send it by e mail ?
Can you help me , please ?

Thanks as always !

I don't know what's going on with C4S lately. I'm updating my site but about 25% of the time the clips aren't showing up on the category page. All of you need to watch this and report it if it's happening to you to so they can fix whatever is wrong with their system. And yes, I reported it to C4S and the last time it never got fixed. We'll see if this current one ever gets fixed. UPDATE They fixed it. Last time it was never fixed so I'm grateful for the fix this timed. Hopefully they fix whatever's wrong with their updating system.

Don't make the clip until he sends payment first, a lot of guys will say they want a clip but fail to pay. You can upload the clip to your own website in zip format for him to download by sending him the link.

Hi,

First of all don't make the clip until they pay. Ever. Secondly, there are two ways to do it:

1. Get the entire payment as a tribute before you make the clip and then send via mega.nz, mediafire, project maenad, google drive or dropbox (google all of these to find out more about them).

2. Let's say it's a 10 minute custom video and you want to charge the customer $100 for the custom and then you want to charge the general public $10.99 when you re-post it on your clipstore. You request an $89 tribute, then they purchase the video from clips4sale when you post it. That makes a total of $99.99. In my opinion, this option is better. Partly because very occasionally file sharing sites like the ones I mentioned can be hacked but mainly because then you don't have to spend extra time uploading it to c4s afterwards and his purchase of the clip will maybe put you in the top 50 in that category (if it's a slow or less popular category), giving you more exposure on c4s. Seriously, one of my clips is number 7 bestselling clip in the category and it's only ever sold once! Obviously, for exclusive customs you'd still have to use option 1.

If you're wondering how to get someone to tribute you $89, you don't have to use the preset tribute options on c4s ($10, $20, $50, $100 etc), you can use this link:

clips4sale.com/tools/clipcash/tribute.php?producer=00000&amount=5

Change the 00000 to your studio number and the amount at the end to whatever amount you want him to tribute. This link would tribute studio 00000 $5 because it says amount=5 at the end. Change the 5 to 89 and it works perfectly. This works with any number above 5 I think (pretty sure 5 is the minimum).

Just a tiny add: c4s actually does not allow "abuse" of the tribute button as a payment processor. The agreement that the customer and c4s with regards to tribute button use have, is that they can not expect anything back for their payment, hence tribute. If they were promised a custom clip for their "tribute" (in that case payment using the tribute button), that would mean they could expect something back, which c4s does not want to happen. I know this first hand from [email protected] [email protected] even told me that she will hit me with a wet noodle if I ever use the tribute button to receive payments. Just so you know, it's at your own risk.

Other than that, I use wetransfer to send files up to 2GB for free. Not entirely risk free, but then again I don't sent clips to people I don't have a good relation with. Fingers crossed.

About the category update: My updates eventually do show up, but sometimes it takes like half an hour. I also noticed that I sometimes need to refresh 3-4 times in a row and everytime I do, new stores show up (that had updated some time ago already). They should actually all show up the first time I refresh, so that is strange.

^That's true but I used tributes for payments for about a year and never got caught once. I don't think it's something they really care about enforcing. I use a different payment processor now.

For custom vids (only made one so far and one is in progress) I receive the payment on LiveCamModelShows. I asked the webmaster of this website (a camgirl) to make me a custom vid page where the customer can fill a form (description of request, specific words/accessories he wants to see in the vid, desired format, etc). You can ask me the link of my page in PM if you want to see it. If I accept their custom request I reply to them with the price I want for the clip. When the clip is paid I film it. Then I put it on ProjectMeanad. You can create a link so they can download the file.

I don't have a lot of experience on c4s, started in mid-August. In my first store I mostly post in my main category but sales are going down. I only had one clip that sold like crazy (37 times), but I can't really do another one like this without redoing pretty much the same thing. For my second store I try to post one vid in my main category everyday (failed to do it so far, this category is more difficult that I thought). I post 1-2 vids in other categories. I don't really have a plan, I try many categories to see what will work and won't work. But now I think I should focus on a few categories because I feel like I'm going now where. There are endless possibilities and while it should help me with creativity, it's starting to feel like the opposite. It's hard to explain. I will say it in French (I know you are French and I'm francophone too). C'est le syndrome de la page blanche. Blank page syndrome.

That checklist is great, it's like everything you put on your page, it's very helpful.
