She probably timed the announcement for last Monday in order to make the publication deadlines for the US and People magazines which usually hit news stands on Thursdays (at least in the area where I live).
I keep hoping that these over-exposed and self promoting 'stars' fade away.... Maybe someday

^ Personally I think u should be with the person for years before u get married to them no matter who u r...People dont know wtf real love is anymore..just a bunch of looks, material based bs...not true love
I used to agree with this, but have seen people together for years divorce and successful marriages after weeks of dating. I suppose it depends on age and many other factors.

^ agreed. Having been married and together for 8 years...having good and bad times... I think people still know love, they just don't realise marriage takes a lot more than love. It takes commitment, patience and sacrifice and in todays world people either aren't interested in those things or are honestly just too busy working and trying to survive and be successful on their own to be able to last years and years together. I think it would be much much easier to be married for a long time in a simple life. Im lucky to get 5 quality hours a week with my husband. Stars get way less than even that... how is that supposed to work?

I'm reminded of friends of my uncle. They had dated over 10 years before they got married and they divorced within a year of marriage. I've known people together who stats say shouldn't be. How many times have we heard of stories of people who married within a week of meeting and married 50 years? Or how about those people with someone for years without marriage, then married the next person soon after meeting?

I'm divorced. Knew it wouldn't work before the wedding, but still wanted to try because I thought I loved him while I was in some fucked up, self-hating phase. Went in knowing and prepared for the only two outcomes. Since then, I've pledged to boycott legal marriage until it's a protected right for EVERY couple, not just straight ones.
I have specific rules regarding this sort of thing. We have to live together at least a year to even consider the question. The engagement has to be at least another year long. You must ask for the blessing of my grandfather and brothers (both biological and adopted), don't care if you get it but you have to have enough balls to ask. And I'll only accept a bridal ring set (the engagement ring and my wedding band) of my own design UNLESS it's a family heirloom or something. I will only be marred spiritually and those vows have to be renewed every anniversary, with or without some kind of ceremony.
Maybe other people should make this sort of list themselves?

Every single person I know who is now divorced knew it was a bad idea. One person told me going down the aisle she was crying to herself. I found this interesting and asked them why and many had reasons why they didn't want to stop the wedding, from the cost to the disappointment. I suppose I understand this if it's a big wedding and invites went out and everything was non returnable. Most of them remarried and like you they now have specific rules, like one will not live her spouse before marriage, another won't buy a house, still another will only have a small wedding and not get mixed up with a large wedding, and another will date many years.

my list was:
1. Find someone who I want to love, raise a family, and spend the rest of my life with, and they wanted to love, raise a family and spend the rest of their life with me.
that was it. the rest of the details were insignificant.

I wish this were entirely so. Unfortunately, that's what I told myself during my first marriage. After all, he loved me and wanted to have a family with me and never part. I believed that I loved him and I wanted a family and I wanted my marriage to last for life. Life just isn't that easy.
Inevitably, marriage is WORK AND COMPROMISE. There will be differences in religion. You will not agree 100% on how to raise children. One of you might love cats while the other is allergic. She might dream of living on the beach while you've worked towards moving into the desert. What if you fell in love with a woman whom you hate every individual trait of, yet care for her as a whole?
Not saying these particular issues will come up for you, but marriage will inevitably throw you a lot of hardship that many people simply do not have the patience to deal with. Or maybe we as a culture just don't take the true meaning of what a marriage is to heart anymore?

Can we split the interesting marriage convo into a different thread and the the Kardashian thing go the way of their vows?
I married the right girl for the right reasons. It went bad in under 4 years.
Dated a girl I thought I would marry, got engaged - and it fell apart in 2 weeks over basically nothing (on the surface) after almost 5 years. Hadn't tied the knot yet (thank God).
Met someone with whom ALL the red flags were there - how & wshere we met, her background & beliefs vs my upbringing & points of view, a 13 year age gap, both on the rebound, and more - and we're going to be celebrating 3 years in a few weeks, and can't wait for the rest or our lives together. Weve already made it through shit WAY rougher than any of our other relationships, and while it did get bad, we never wanted to break up over it. Still don't.
Love ya' babe (if you for some reason open this thread, LMAO)!

How pathetic that girl is. I'll never understand people who get THAT MAD at strangers for... being famous.
I'd get it if Kim were famous for mudering kittens or something... and people were that mad... but FFS... get a life! LOL
And for the record. There's nothing wrong with painted on eyebrows. ;D

Actually if you can believe it - they EARNED off of their wedding. They sold their wedding out to advertisers and paparazzi basically and grossed 15-17million. Guess the'll earn a bit off of the divorce with exclusives and whatever. I thought she'd wait 6months, leak rumors of cheating, pregnancy scares and then divorce him.
Her whole life is the Truman Show, but she's in on it
Me TOO! I was betting on 6 months so it looked somewhat plausible. E wasted a loooot of dough. Maybe they'll get it back on the new season of "Kim and Kourtney Take NY" Coming Soon!! ;D
