"Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy " was not very good and "The Devil Inside" was absolutely horrible.

I would definitely recommend it. Especially if you're a "party" person. ;D ;)

I saw "Chloe" last night on tv. Great movie, but predictable for this hustler.
;-)
For those who don't know the plot, it's about this lady who suspects her husband of cheating so she hires an escort (Chloe) to see what response her husband will give

I saw 50/50 (still in the discount theaters) and the new Mission Impossible.
50/50 was brilliantly well scripted and sweet w/o being too sappy [RECOMMEND]. The new Mission [RECOMMEND] was surprisingly good.... I'm not too fond of Tom Cruise these days. When are they gonna have a real MI hottie??
Oh, and Zack and Miri Make a Porno [MEH 6/10]. Haha the monologue was too corny. I expected way more raunchy lol humor.

The last movie I saw was The Help.
I would recommend this movie, especially if you've read the book.

I would definitely recommend it. Especially if you're a "party" person. ;D ;)
I will see this. I like your taste in movies Avery, (from the disturbing movie thread.)
I thought the first half of Chloe was really good and the second half was ridiculously bad. Maybe not Green Lantern bad but definitely laughably, painfully, embarrassingly bad. I do like the director though. And it gave me awesome lesbi-sexy dreams about Amanda Seyfried. : )
Last movies I saw were the HBO documentaries Paradise Lost (1, 2, and 3) and holy hell were they intense. Yes I would recommend. I barely knew anything about the West Memphis 3 but it's an incredibly compelling story and I am so glad they're free! The first two movies do show photos of the naked, dead boys which was really upsetting for me so just be warned if you watch them.

YES! to the Paradise Lost documentaries!!
I was so shocked and excited to hear that the boys (well, men now) were finally set free. I think they were just released last year, or maybe the year before? (My concept of time is not so good.)
For those who haven't heard of the West Memphis 3, it's about three boys who were accused and convicted of a heinous crime despite the lack of evidence pointing in their direction. These boys were persecuted only because they listened to heavy metal and dressed differently than the other people in their small Arkansas town.

I watched Enemy at the Gates and I am Sam today. Lazy Sunday afternoon :)

Ryan Gosling is soooo amazing in it. It actually reminded me of how great a hustler ANYONE can be. Also super hot and dressed so well. It made me notice that my boyfriend wears the wrong size suit lol.

I agree with 50/50 and Crazy Stupid Love - those were both very good. I also thought the new Mission Impossible movie was incredibly exciting.
Anyone see War Horse? What did you think? I thought it was a rather odd mixture - on one hand you had this really sweet, old fashioned, boy-and-his-horse adventure story and then it turned into a hard, brutal war saga.

50/50. It was that same Judd apatow style humor, so meh. Instead of "Oops, we made a baby!" it was "Shit, you have cancer!".
Damn... I loved that movie... Even added it to my ten best list of 2011. Cried. Maybe it's a dude thing
There's nothing more touching in this world than bro love
This is true, it was indeed a DickFlick.
I had to watch it after this convo. I usually really enjoy Apatow humor, but I have to side with Cam_chick here. It's a dick flick through and through. Most of the women are just horrible.
I did get a little misty (okay, I cried), but I still don't think it was Apatow's best work.

Had a stay-at-home-with-a-DVD second date last night... we watched Friends With Benefits (Mila Kunis & Justin Timberlake).
Pretty funny film with decent writing. It's a love story disguised as an anti-love story.

Conan The Barbarian (the new one). I would not recommend it. Standard action fight scenes and nothing compelling about it.

My movie date from last night surprised me by dropping by place tonight with another DVD and take-out food from a restaurant we both like. Tonight we watched "Our Idiot Brother." It's a typical Paul Rudd comedy but it had some laugh-out-loud parts that we really enjoyed.
The best part was that she had enough fun last night to want an encore tonight!
I'm kinda giddy about that.

Saw Young Adult and really enjoyed it. The lead actors really make this film.
Last night I was resting from minor medical procedure. Saw "50/50. I thought it would be funnier, but it was still engaging. Then "Natural Selection". This is an indie that got an award @ SXSW last year. I recommend it for the strong, funny female lead, but the film is far from perfect. But the idea of the story is interesting.

Higher Ground. It's ok. To be honest I haven't completely finished it yet. But it gets off to a great start. There were a lot of indies out of Sundance and SXSW last year that had religion and cults as a subject. This was one of them. Of the three I saw (including Martha, Marcy, May, Marlene), it's the most positive and humorous of the three. I recommend it, if this is a subject you might be interested in.

The last 2 films I watched were 'Avatar' and 'The House Of Flying Daggers'.
'Avatar' was a total let down.....I couldn't figure what all the hype was about. It just seemed to be a vehicle for showing off 3D. On the other hand, 'The House Of Flying Daggers' is beautifully filmed, well written and very well acted.
The next 2 to watch are 'Death Note' and 'Death Note 2'.......the real people versions, not "anime".

I watched Drive tonight and can't decide if it was really good or a big letdown. Then again, with film noir it's not until I watch it again a few years later that I've really made up my mind. Stay tuned for the big update 2015'ish.

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close - Yes, I would recommend it. I could hear my mom sniffling through the entire thing, lol. I think it's because the boys dad in the movie reminded her of her dad. I think the 9/11 theme is a little overused in films, but it was still pretty good. It's a tearjerker - the theater was packed and I could tell people had been crying when the lights were back on. I love Sandra Bullock and Tom Hanks, so I knew I'd like it, but it wasn't super emotional for me. I think it's because the little boy was arrogant and annoying.
Donnie Darko - Yes, I would recommend it. It was on TV the other day. Funny and scary and inspiring all at the same time. It's one of my favorites. I didn't care for it at first because I didn't think it made any sense, but it's my bf's favorite and he convinced me to give it another shot and I love it now. You can't really expect to understand it the first time you watch it. I've seen it several times and I still don't completely understand it.

Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace.
Not so much a new movie, but the idea of seeing a 3D lightsaber battle sounded cool.
It's not as good as the original three (A New Hope, Return of the Jedi and The Empire Strikes Back) but if you're a Star Wars fan and you like the idea of seeing something in the Star Wars franchise in 3D, then it's pretty cool.

The Conspirator. I liked it a lot, but then I also generally like historical dramas. It's about the aftermath of the President Lincoln assassination and attempted assassinations on other leaders, focusing on the legal trial against the conspirators.
