For free chat, I have one of the swivel-neck desktop lamps (the ones you can turn in any direction), I put a soft-light bulb in it and clip my webcam to the top.

That way I can turn the webcam in any direction, using the lamp neck.

Sort of like my own little spotlight.

For privates I move the lamp to a small nightstand I set up at the end of my bed and use my webcams' remote for a POV show.

I live in a large home, alone. So I like to change rooms often and for each seperate area I do a 'dry run' - I use my cam and pretend to do a show that I record and watch it back and move furniture or change lighting. Feels silly, but it works.

At first look I thought you had 4 webcams, so I noticed you have the pro9000 and a microsoft webcam which one you like better

Logitech tho the lifecam cinema is a good 2nd :)

I use this little mini desk I bought at Target and sit on the floor using a screen background so it doesn't look like the I'm on the floor. I need to lean back on something because my back hurts so bad when working long hours. Sounds ghetto but looks good lol. I wish I had a desk but gotta pay the rent before I go all out and do that lol. The tripod seems like a good idea just gotta figure out how to tape my webcam to it. I dont know why they dont make tripods for the logitech webcams. The only one I know of is the orb and that is the worse webcam I've ever owned. I also use these cool lights I bought from Target that have 5 arms so it gets nice and bright in here plus I can change the lighting anyway I want because the arms are movable =)

I have the messiest, most basic, most cobbled together setup ever
http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z15/thedawnbringer/th_2012-02-06201854.jpg (http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z15/thedawnbringer/2012-02-06201854.jpg)
Webcam balanced precariously on top of piled up books behind laptop, which itself is balanced on top of my dresser drawers, accompanied at any given time by masses of junk food/ drinks/ dildos, and other crap. Custies seem to like it so this is how it is for now :P

OMG mine is even worse. I should probably upload a pic.
My set-up starts with the cardboard box my vacuum came in, stuffed with extra blankets to keep its shape. I balance my floor lamp on top of that leaning back onto a desk, and in front of the lamp I put a 3-drawer plastic organizer, followed by my dream dictionary for a little extra height and then finally my laptop. I keep trying to come up with something more sane, but no luck yet. The cam stays stationary, unless someone asks for a close up. I like having the cam as close to my laptop as possible, so it looks like I'm looking at the cam when I am watching myself, so not sure what the solution is. Is there such a thing as a tripod for laptops? :O

I Welded caster wheels on my cp desk lol i didnt know they sold them that way... The Microsoft life cam studio comes with a threaded hole for tri pods so i can easily disconnect it to zoom in close to important parts. Pink Zebra Print Duct tape is epic btw.. OMG our basement Dungeon is so messy i cant believe i uploaded these pictures ;)

seeing all these pics of room sets up makes me want to go back to my roots I use to work from a futon horrible thing, and I had my desktop at the time it was sitting on a rubber maid box. and my camera regular tripod with remote control a sharp=vl100 the best video camera ever, Sharp no longer makes it. I wish I never sold it. but at the time I thought the JVC-290 was a good upgrade, that ex-bf stole it and then I though the Sony HC62 was a good replacement then because I took so long of a break from camming I pawned it. so now I am trying to get back hopefully good condition miniDV camera from ebay a remote pan and tilt head or a regular tripod.

I am also starting to think that working from a desktop computer is a lot better then using a laptop I find myself using my external keyboard alot more when I am camming. it really comes down too once you find something that works for you stick with it.

I agree. I have a laptop but use the wireless keyboard and mouse all the time. I want a desktop work station sooo bad. Hoping when my lease is up I can move into a 3 bedroom so I have a room purely for work purposes. I hate moving stuff around to cam then moving everything back so after. Takes forever!

I started working from a desktop set up, and HATED it. It's almost the sole reason I bought my laptop. I have used wireless keyboard/mouse, but I usually just deal with it! I also once set up my laptop with a 2nd monitor so I could do more things at once and still watch myself/room.

i LOVE my "cam space" in my new house. It actually takes up less then 1/2 of our bonus room with just a twin bed, two small side tables (one for toys/essentials and the other for a light and decor), a small vanity space, and my rolling cart. My only problem is storage for all my "cam wear" which hopefully my husband is planning to solve for me soon. I will upload pictures in a bit.

Can I ask how most of your try to decorate? I'm needing to buy new sheets, but I'm trying to keep them plain to have less motion cause by a pattern. I feel like my room looks so pain and lame. BuffyFlame's room is AMAZING, if you haven't seen it check her out on SM

Rollin rack for hangers an change background with different fabrics or blankets. Looks fancy on cam lol. I wanna get Christmas lights cause I think it looks online. Wait how does the monitor thing work? Ive heard of people doing it but don't understand how. I have an extra monitor lying around that I would love to put to use.

Thanks! I was able to put it together buying only the trash can, and I just gotta switch some things up for when we have people over so we can use it for entertaining. Having a spare rooms for camming only makes working more comfortable and easy to do. As soon as we purchase the house I'm getting a stripper pole too.

We rent, so i can't change anything about my horrid off white walls. However I try to use bright coloured cushions/ throws/ sheets etc (hard to get anything really "bright" in the UK argh), and I have a mirror behind me ;)

You can always repaint the wall back to the original white when you move out.

Do you have any art you could put on the walls? I envy your mirror. My husbands a glass glazier, but I can't get a freaking mirror?! You could try and find some cheap sheer curtains and hang them on the walls to give it color. I found my green one at KMart for $4.99 (of course I don't know what kind of stores you have in the UK). Make sure to always check the sale/clearance section of the home department. I always find something I can use somewhere.

As for "bright" I think it depends on your cam persona. I personally like the rooms that feel more sensual and sexy whit darker hues and animal prints.

We have totally gotten this thread off topic now! What were we originally talking about? Webcams? I think we need to come up with the "perfect" adult webcamming camera and take it to the patent office. Personally, I don't know why they make built in cams-they suck!

God, AF girl you;re so organized!!!..

My cam sits on a box and the box sits on my desk, to the right side on my monitor..
I find boxes work the best,.. U can maneuver them with your hand or feet lol.. left , right...as far as zooming it.. its within's arm's length so I just grab it and move it closer

I've finally found the happy spot for my setup after trying many many different things. I always have a unashamedly tacky hodge podge of blankets and pillows on my bed so I can flop on them immediately following a long shift. Also, someone posted a wonderful tutorial on how to attach a webcam to a tripod using a nut that matches the screw threading on the mounting plate of a tripod. All I've done is glued the nut onto the bottom of my Logitech 9000 and screwed it into the plate. It works fantastically for me.

I still haven't found something I love. I keep changing my space up. I need to change the background because my walls are white but come out this ugly yellow on cam so gotta figure that out.

Oh btw. Found some sweet LED's that would look cute as decoration. I like the way they look in the kitchen on the video

Woot I was the one who posted that! Glad it worked for you too! I just glued mine today lol. I have my setup about the same as you now too. I have a targus tripod too except mine is black. And I got a laptop cart thing from walmart that's pretty tall. I <3 it. With the removeable plate thing on the tripod, I can just leave it on when I put my cam (C910) to my computer and if I decide to use the tripod I can just pop it on there in a few seconds.

I love the tripod idea. I can't wait to fiddle with my cam setup!

I have to say that the "studio" look is my favorite. There are a lot of girls I see with the same setup and I'm guessing they must be in a studio, but I wonder where (they are listed in the US)!? I noticed that in one room it doesn't look like a full bed.

Here are some examples:

Here is a good floor plan for newbies and people thinking of redecorating their cam space or cam room. now as for the lights those can easily be replaced with worker/construction lights or floor lamps or even photography studio lamps.

OhMiGosh, Minnie!! I love <3 Luv you for this info~!!!!!

I recently purchased this http://www.kmart.com/shc/s/p_10151_10104_005W626790310001P?prdNo=25&blockNo=25&blockType=G25 shop light for cheap (alot less then the site price) for my laundry room. The only bad part is the price of the light bulbs themselves, which I still got for less then $5 for two. My dilemma is all the "cut outs" in the walls in my extra room. I have to find a way to happily work around or with them. :-\

just a few comments to add ...

As the DirectSex advice link discusses in detail, choosing the right 'color temperature' for your lighting makes a huge difference in the resulting video. Personally, I have had good luck in the past using flourescent tubes designed for fish tanks ... which are widely available and comparatively cheap. The best 'color temperature' does vary a bit though depending on which specific camera you are using.

A 'trick' I used was to hook up a 42" HD flat screen TV for use as my computer monitor. Besides being able to mount the TV farther away from yourself while still being able to read text OK, the ability to wall mount the TV at any height you want allows your head to be in a more upright position relative to your camera placement. This also allows you a wider range of side-to-side motion relative to your camera placement.

what i dont find.."great" about the pics minnie posted above is that the model's position looks like ... well she doesnt have any space!
I see models who look like they have all this extra space, yet they still use just a little portion on it.. laying down...

Often I have my webcam just on my laptop. However, when I do want to use a 'tripod' I use my music stand (for putting your music on to read while you are playing eg the violin). I can move it up and down or change the angle easily. So if you have one lying around, get it out!

I'll take some pics of my set up soon~
I have two monitors (one on a wall mount that swivels) so I switch between them for mounting my camera (Logitech C910) and I can also mount it on the back of my computer chair and roll it over close to the bed for close-ups.
For you girls that have white walls and aren't able to paint- go get some cheap king-sized top bed sheets in flattering colors, and pin them up on your walls so it looks like they're painted. Add in some curtains or some hanging bead sets over them and you'll have a completely new room that you can change up in minutes.

I am trying to get some ideas for my room. I want it to be more colorful and interesting for the guys. What should I put on the wall behind me? I don't want my wall to be all white.

I am tired of laying on my bed everyday camming...I notice that a lot of cam girls have the same couches ...they look long and leather..Does anyone know what kind they are, or the name of it?

Also....I want to try different outfits when I am camming, but I don't have a lot to offer. I wear panties and a tank...or this tight leo...and this lingerie I just bought...and it ripped the same day!! lol...any ideas for camming clothes?

LolaBohemia
10-06-2012, 10:12 PM
the best way I found out ideas was by watching other girls in action.
As far as wall decor, tapestries work well and offer nice color. I also put up lights and such and change it up a bit depending on the seasons or holidays.

Just decorate how you like but don't use over saturated colors. Overly bright colors are a general eyesore and seem to have an effect on how long a viewer may stay in your room. A lot of studio girls are set up against really harsh and bright backdrops that are unappealing to look at. Go for pastels or muted darker colors. More importantly, go for something that goes along with your cam persona. Everyone has a personality online they use to represent and market themselves...let that be reflected in your cam room as well.

As far as where you cam or furniture, I think it's just more important to be comfortable. I sit at a desk and that doesn't work for most people but it does for me since I don't do many diddlin' shows.

Even though I cam at night I really do not feel comfortable camming anywhere except in my room with the door closed and locked because sometimes my 3 year old wakes up in the middle of the night for random stuff or to try and come climb in bed with me. Living room is not an option.
So at 3 or 4am I am turning cam room back into Mommy's room, putting lamps back where they belong, hiding lube toys and lingerie.

I have a spare room we built off the garage a few years ago that has a fan with a light, lots of shelves, a window AC and is set up for a twin bed. Totally soundproof since we're in FL and it's all concrete and you have to walk through the garage to get to it.

So I was wondering how many of you have a separate room you use for camming, and what the benefits are. I'm torn, my room is pretty! Here's pics of both rooms.
Opinions appreciated

If you dont use that spare room, I will!! LoL!! Its funny, I *just* told someone about this in PM. I live in a 1/bd, so I have no choice, I have to cam only when kiddo is at school. But when I had a 2bd I had my room set up for cam at all times.

Im kind of strict though, kiddo is not allowed in my room at all, way before I did this and had anything to hide, it was just the law of the land...not allowed in my room, and if the door is closed, dont even knock on it. and DEF no yelling through doors..I cant stand that. She found a work around and slips notes under my door lol But I always considered it like, that is my private space, and Ive always respected her private space too. So I never had the issues you do, but I think that setting up the spare room would be very ideal... and you can make it look pretty too!! Put some decorative things on the shelf, a nice comforter set for the bed, put your lights up and youre good to go!

Also, it would be like working out of the office, since it will be a designated "work space" so not only could you ban kiddo from going there, but itll help with your mindset and focus to work too. And like I said, if you dont use it...let me know! Ill even pay rent for the space so that I can expand my cam hours :D

My place is small and I cam from my living room. I would love a separate room but the advantage of being in the living room is that when I'm not doing free between shows, I can do other stuff...if I was in a separate room, what I could do in that down time would be more limited.

It does take time to get everything out and set up and before I start and put away again afterwards, which is a pain. I can only cam during school hours but that is really enough for me anyway, evenings are family time but I will do instant message on AW sometimes.
