This has some really good floorwork...maybe it's just my club, but I really don't see much good floor work on stage anymore, and it makes me sad :(

This isn't bad. I love this song & use it sometimes. She is missing a couple of accents of the music when it gets faster. In some moves it seems like she doesn't complete what she started. Also, sometimes her hands look awkward.
But she is classy & really like her shoes.

Working on my butterfly this afternoon and came accross this girl's videos. One of the best sets of instructional pole videos I have seen ever. I love her format of demo, explanation and then live explanation while doing the move, and how she talks about specific contact points and muscles used for each move.

The most common poles for home use are:
X-pole: (if you buy on Amazon, shipping is cheaper, though the poles are more expensive, so it evens out depending on which pole you buy)
Platinum Stages:
Lil' Mynx:
There are static poles, rotating poles, and poles that do both. You can get poles that are 100% portable (great if you do private parties or need to be able to hide your stripping evidence in a hurry, i.e. parents are coming over) and poles that must be installed. Some poles, like X-pole, are non-invasive even when "permanently" installed, which means it's good for apartments or if you move a lot.
I must be honest and say that out of those three, Lil' Mynx seems to be the worst. I have personally danced on a Lil' Mynx and was NOT impressed. It didn't rotate easily like a club pole would; it seemed stiff and wobbly. I've always heard that the best two are X-pole and Platinum Stages, and X-pole usually seems to get the best reviews and the most recommendations. Here is a youtube video with a side-by-side demo of Platinum Stages and X-pole. This video is technically reviewing the STAGE setups that both companies offer, but you can also see the pole performance:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYApdFKTewA&feature=youtu.be
Poles typically come in 45mm and 50mm. If you have small hands (mine are freaking tiny), you'll get a better grip on a 45mm; however, clubs tend to use the 50mm size, so if you want to have no problem doing tricks you've learned at home when you're at work, I'd stick with the 50mm.
There are different finishes. You typically see (from least expensive to most expensive) chrome, stainless steel, titanium gold, and brass. That order also goes from least grippy to most grippy. Once again, if you want to easily replicate tricks you've learned at home when at work, I recommend getting the same finish the pole at your club has. Aside from that, it seems to be a matter of personal preference; I recommend using the search function on here to see individual threads about this specific topic so you can get other users' feedback.
And for the love of god, do not, repeat, DO NOT buy a Peekaboo pole. Peekaboo is the maker of the various poles you usually see sold at sex shops or Spencers, like the Carmen Electra pole or the Hustler pole. I don't care how much cheaper they are than the other options, these are NOT real stripper poles. They cannot take a lot of weight, they are installed like you would install a pressure-mounted shower curtain rod, and they HURT when you try to do a trick on them. Almost all those youtube videos you see of drunk girls at a party leaping onto a stripper pole and then taking the pole crashing down onto the coffee table are of a Peekaboo pole. Repeat, these are NOT real stripper poles. They are gag gifts or bachelorette party gifts. They are NOT designed for real pole dancing, I don't care what the package says. My friend had one and I used it and it was a freaking joke. If you want to learn how to pole dance at home, save your money and buy a real stripper pole.
I'm not sure if anyone has posted this, but if you have a handy man around or if you're into DIY, then here's a tutorial of how to Make your Own Pole (Home Depot/Lowes Materials) I would say the only thing that would be different would be the brass finish or whatever finish is chosen.
Permanent in ceiling pole (primer/brass finish included):

I made a playlist that has a bunch of videos for stripper dancing.
I started it when I first started dancing, so some of the videos probably aren't good anymore. And since I sometimes add something and watch it later, some of the videos are better than others. But there is some good stuff in there... I'll probably edit it and take out the dumb stuff.

This may sound like an obvious question, but any videos on actual stripping? Like, what moves work best for clothing removal and how to take off items without getting into unflattering positions? It feels awkward no matter how I do it–and sometimes I slow it way down to try to keep it sexy and then I just end up being in a weird pose longer than necessary.
I've taken pole classes and studied videos on and off for many years but that part never seems to get covered. I've watched lots of Youtube tutorials on lapdancing and floorwork and I haven't found what I need (though I admit I haven't watched every single on in this thread yet). Halp!
Also–just wanted to add Wendy Traskos's handstand video to the thread:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54Pp-8vBNoQ&list=UU0usyzmNYTN_wM5g-IXKUJg
I studied with her when I first started and she's still one of my favorite teachers to watch.

Oh snap...! This is so my domain right here - this thread. Props for starting this and let's definitely keep this shit going!! I hope I didn't overlook and share something someone else already did.. I was into pole before I started stripping. I thought if I could pole - I could make money in a club. I soon learned the truth... And yet - I stuck with it. I thought I would share my inspiration (and the inspiration of many...) My favorite set from the one they call Felix. She took one of her 2 world champ titles with this one. <3
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rO_9wLHdj0
Here's another routine from one of my favorites Jenyne Butterfly - doing a set on a static pole.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3G1eKteTmQ
I've heard about Veena.. I checked it out.. If I may suggest - for those serious about pole (and floorwork.. And flexibility training... And silks.. And lyra...)
Poleandaerial.com
Both of these lovely champions are teachers there (along with many other national and world champs) - and if you're one of many who has marveled at Felix Cane and her bendy ways... She teaches lessons on Poleandaerial.com about splits - even over splits (what I'm starting to work into..) She also has a ton of lessons on flex training and they are GREAT!! I can't stress this enough. It's only $30 a month and a lot of the girls I've seen in the videos previously posted in this thread - have been guest instructors and have lessons on there as well. If I might suggest for floor work - Jeni Janover is amazing!! She has some lessons up on Poleandaerial.com that are a lot of fun. Look up her "Buttercup" (my personal fav.. lol) I apologize if I posted a video that someone already put up - I tried to check carefully. Also if you do sign up for a membership (or maybe even if you don't..) They have a great on-line store where you can purchase both Pleasers and Tony shoes - and they have a pretty HUGE selection! ;-) Also apparel and accessories *as well as equipment* - everything from angel wings to Mighty Grip!
Check it out! Since I started taking lessons on there I got to Masterclass moves in about a year and a half... I still have a lot of basic boring mechanics I need to revisit because I wanted to do power moves - but I would recommend this site and their entire roster of instructors for anyone who just loves to fucking dance! <3

Here's someone else I've really been diggin' on. Her name is Olga Koda from Russia and she's a lot of fun! Her floorwork is pretty awesome - and she does a lot of break style on the pole. I have a few links - lots of floor - I hope you enjoy! :-)

This is silly - just for fun - twerk warmup.. I was hoping to see more of Olga's twerk - for a skinny white girl she has a wicked twerk. She got that twitchy machine gun twerk - you don't really see it here - but it's still a fun video :-)

QUESTION!!
If this is the wrong place to post this, let me know and I'll start a new thread.
Does anyone else have trouble sticking to the floor when sliding around on stage? My knees will get caught on the floor and when I drag them they'll move more staccato than anything. It looks really bad, not fluid at all. No one else at my club seems to have this problem.
Does anyone know a good tip for this? I'm thinking of putting baby powder on my knees, or wearing socks, but I want to know why everyone else seems to have an easy time with it and I don't.

If you're not trying to stick to the pole - I say socks are sexy! I may be a little weird though *lol* Thigh high socks with the right getup can be downright charming - and you can still do pole spins if you want. I think it would help you slide more on the floor - that's just my 2 cents though :-)

^^ Try taking the weight in your upper body/ hands rather than your knees; its hard to give exact advice without seeing you though. My impression is that you need to lift your knees up and use the length of your shins for forward momentum while using your upper body strength for the pull.
If noone else at your club has problems with it then your best bet would be to ask for instructions from another dancer on a quiet shift- I've always found that if one dancer asks for help then starts practicing onstage then at least a couple of others will come over with advice. If you find a video which helps (crawling without dragging knees maybe?) then post.

Also, just sprang to mind. At home, lie flat on ground facing floor on forearms.- Pull lower body forward using forearm strength and using core to assist, the emphasis should be a smooth glide from the knees to the pointed toes. when you cant pull lower body forwrd any more slide out your forearms and repeat. Maybe its a strength issue- you will be suprised at what your body does naturally when your strength builds.

Cleosrocknpole.com is worth every penny of the $25 per month membership price. She has great tutorials for beginners and her rockn legs and abs video will help you with splits. She also some very cool sexy floorwork. She also posts trick tutorials so if you're looking for 1 or 2 really good moves to learn, this is the place.
Also, LindsayLithepole on Instagram- her account is mostly tricks but she gives skype lessons at reasonable rates

Yea - Olga gravitates toward more break style - which I love - but I think it's more impressive than it is graceful. If you're really into floor - I would suggest watching Jeni Janover. She is AWESOME on the floor. She developed her own style - she calls it "Liquid Motion" - some of her moves make it look like she's literally stuck to the floor - but it's so sexy. Here's one of her sets from this year - she was a guest instructor on Poleandaerial.com - so she has some of her "Liquid Motion" videos on there - it's a great site - so many awesome women have videos on there - but yea - they have a whole section for floor, flex, strength building.. Pole, Lyra, Silks - pretty much anything you could think of - it's worth $30 a month. I'm feeling kinda bummed right now watching this shit because I want to jump right back on my pole *lol* I had a baby in April and I'm still nursing so no crash diets, fat burners, etc... And I have a lower back strain (doing physical therapy for) from overexerting *dumb dumb dumb...* But yea.. lol.. This is a fun set from Jeni Janover - if you're into floor you might dig her :-) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VYutHHGLvk

If you've never taken dance lessons, Liquid Motion is everything. It will not only teach you how to be sexy, it will teach you how to move...the only thing I'll caution is that her actually pole moves are very contemporary..
If you want to be the total package on stage...Maddie Sparkle, or Michelle Shimmy....these girls live and breath sexy.

Yea - Jeni us decent on the pole but her specialty is definitely floor - and I love the liquid style she created. As far as sexy on the pole though I'm old school - I have to pick Felix Cane and Jenyne Butterfly as my 2 all time favorites. Have you seen Felix lately...? She's even more flexible if that's humanly possible.. ;-)

Stocking, my dear, stockings. Socks are for the gym or a sports related theme and naughty school girls (my opinion, mind you). Thigh high or knee high, fish net, fence net, or colorful lace or nylon. the fish and fence net is for a partial stiction to keep one from skidding all over the place, while a lace and nylon provides protection and slippage if so desired. With either snags may become inevitable so keep a bottle of clear nail polish handy. If a run, snag, or tear starts to occur surround it with the polish. DO NOT use a UV reactive polish or you will become a glowing spotted leopard.

For an idea of all things related, YouTube. Not much for tutorials, but with a bit of imagination and the right wording one can find a vast number of references to assist in pole, air, champagne, back room, and hostage dances, not to mention floor work and private dancing. Some new, some old, in fact one of my favorites is Gypsy Rose Lee. She never even got fully nude on stage. The clip is from the movie based on Gypsy's life.
