I do the same shows I always do, except I don't do penetration or much play type stuff. Or I just don't show my vag since I usually let the hair grow a little during that time so that I can wax. If not, I'll just tuck the tampon inside and no one knows.

That's why I said probably wont work because it didn't work for me. It did hurt cause I could feel him pushing the sponge real deep I.could barely breathe.

That really, really sucks. I really wish it would of worked for you. :(

Its okay, I am on bc pills so my period is really light and I just took the sponge out and soaked it in peroxide and we just used a condom. The sponges are still better than tampons in my opinion because it didn't dry my vag out and we were able to have sex comfortably with a condom, because I am light there was no mess. Also, even though I don't ever leak with tampons I was unsure about the sponges, good news for me they didn't leak at all and they were not nearly as messy as I presumed to take out and clean. I just rinsed them out and only half of it was discolored, rinsed well with warm water then soaked in a small dish with peroxide for a few hours and they were just like brand new, and then I rinsed the peroxide out with warm water and set out to dry. Easy and so comfortable to use, I am glad I found this alternative to those dry cotton tubes! *sea sponges*

I just wanted to add my first experience with the sponge, since I've been using the Instead cup for years, and although it is a good concept, the cup has never prevented leakage for me. I couldn't perform any sexual activity without it becoming painfully obvious that my "Aunt Flo" was rearing her red head (lol).

Finally went to the local health food store, and found a nice-sized one for $4.50. It cut into 4 or 5 pieces. It's soooo comfortable ;D It looks like a much better "plug" than Instead, so tonight I'm going to try and cam with one!

Let us know how it goes, moonjade? I've been hesitant to try the sponge cuz I've had such bad luck with the cup and I'm super paranoid about getting any blood on my toys while on cam.

I'm all for sponges - makeup or sea, honestly. They are just soft and squishy and generally wonderful!! I wouldn't re-use them though, and for sanitisation, I would only boil - hydrogen peroxide etc would throw off the PH balance in your poor delicate ladybits!!

I love the cup for usual day-to-day wear, but I coudln't imagine penetration with it!!! Its not THAT soft - OUCH!!!

When I tried the cup it leaked badly. I can't imagine trying to put stuff in there on top of the already unstable cup trying to stop the flow of mother nature lol. My gyno said that my cervix is tilted back at an odd angle so I'm thinking that's why the cup didn't work and tampons don't ever go in right.

Prepare for TMI!!! I have a tilted cervix too...but the cup works fine! (tampons go at a really weird angle though....)

And I've never had the leakage issues that some gals are talking about...then again, I rinse it every few hours - can't imagine what it would be like if I actually left it for twelve....

You could try different sizes of the cup? And if you tried it a long time ago, they changed the material sometime over the last 5 years or so...its softer and thinner, so more comfortable.

If you are having leakage issues while it is IN - make sure that you are clearing the little holes around the rim when you are rinsing it - they create the "seal". Make sure that you are going deep enough (like a tampon, you shouldn't be able to feel it), and also make sure that you are getting a good seal by running your finger along the edge (along the side, obviously) when it is inside you. Good lord...I feel like I am talking about tupperware!

I use hydrogen peroxide and warm water to soak the sponge overnight. Then I rinse it well with warm water and let dry. I have used sea sponges with this cleaning process and the sponges return to just like new. I have done this for 4 cycles and never had a yeast infection, uti, etc. With tampons I had yeast infections several times right before or after my period.

I was a big fan of the cup for everyday and sponges for porn/camming before my hysterectomy. I did have a very awkward conversation with my gyno when I forgot to take my sponge out before a pelvic once.

Ooh I didn't even know they came in different sizes! And yeah it's been over 5 years since I've tried it so maybe I should try out these new and improved ones. :D

There are two, or maybe three sizes....and they are SO much more comfortable now!!

I came up with something that might help. I use those instead cups, but not alone. I take a tampon, push it out of the applicator and put it in the cup. then I insert the cup, the tampon takes care of most of it, but the cup prevents the leakage. I did it today during my heaviest time and didn't leak at all.

works better than just using the cup because less chance of spillage.

hope this helps someone!
