Less than 24 hours notice and a really vague email about why you are shutting down?

Way to end it on a classy note, XP. Thanks for the clusterfuck.

Lol so dumb. They tanked and tried to smooth talk us into working for their studio.
Looooool.

Shame, shame we know your name!

Where did that 'XPeeps Is Shit' thread go? Lol

Did they ever answer what happened to existing tokens on member accounts?

To all the girls who had Xpeeps as their main/only site.... I'm really sorry. :(
I can't imagine how you're all feeling right now, and damn, I'm sure there's some girls from there who don't even know yet... this quick switch was REALLY unfair.
If you are pissed off and need to vent, nobody here is going to blame you for it, so go ahead... and best of luck with whatever you decide to do from here on.

The members were not notified at all. I hung out last night in a friend's room and we fielded tons of questions like "why are all the girls saying this is their last night here?" and "what's going on?" We weren't told how to deal with the customers or that they weren't told. I emailed xPeeps yesterday. It went like this:

"This upsets me quite a bit because I loved xPeeps for all the ways that it was different from Streamate. I'm currently a model on Streamate but I dislike that site and don't really work there anymore. I'm sorry it didn't work out.

However, my question is about the xPeeps customers. I would like to know what happens with any unspent tokens and videos that they have purchased from us. Will they still have access to those?

Thanks"

Their response:

"Models will receive a final payout as soon as payments are processed. Members will be refunded for unspent tokens once the site functions cease."

So they answered a question I didn't ask, answered a question I did ask, and didn't answer my question about the videos...

I asked the question because a reg of mine asked me when I told him the site was closing. I didn't have any videos up for sale on xPeeps but I know he bought a lot of other girls videos. I'm glad my cam name there is the same as my twitter name so that I'll be easy to find for the other fans who I didn't get into contact with.

I'm not really surprised about this. I was on there only a couple of times and it was a huge waste of time. No paying traffic what so ever. I made a whopping $16 on there. I don't see how anyone could have been using this as their main site...

I wonder what the next token based site will be..... I guess there is always Chaturbate? Isn't that similar to xpeeps/mfc?

it was good until like a month ago, before that i was making good decent money between 80 and 100 a night add to that what i was making on rti and it was great, but then xpeeps started getting slower i guess the users started to get bothered about the tech issues maybe? causing a change in traffic flow and as a consequence less paying custies, and the top 10 was a big iinfluence if u were on the top 10 often it significantly increased earnings ofc till things started getting slow, at what point it was so slow, that for like 10 dolars i moved up in the top 10 lol i know ridiculous right?

awe babe! I miss your face! xoxox where r u going now?
yep, Xpeeps was my main site too, I didn't make as much as you but I wasn't online nearly as often either (grr schedules! I need discipline lol!) anyhow, yes I noticed the number of guests seemed to have increased like at least 50% in the past month there but the tips and pvts decreased to the point of being extinct. -.- zzzzzz
I had a feeling something was going on & not being sure what I had registered on a couple other sites and put some efforts into my own indy stuff and clips4sale... then BOOM. out of the blue they close shop with like 2% advance notice. nasty. Still better than camwealth IMO. <<don't get me started there, loveshooks can be the spokewoman for them, I'm lucky all I lost was $20.

Bad things tend to happen in threes... better to be precautionary, right?
I guess having your guard up at all times has to become priority in this industry.

Wow I thought they did contact the customers, wth.

Last night I spent a boatload of time being cheerful and optimistic in other ladies rooms. Funny thing is, today it hit me like a brick. That was my main site and I spent soo much time and effort that I lost what regulars I had on mfc and streamates because all my focus was on there. I spent 6 hours working today on SM and mfc and 45 bucks to show for it...it's going to be a long road back to my normal income. I'm trying hard not to stress.

well hello missy ! missed u tooooooo. well the truth is i kinda dont have plan im like on autopilot mode, to frustrated to think str8 kinda felling like u rocka kinda hit me today when i stared to think what the fuck am i gonna do? well for now im gonna give mfc a try i been on there b4 but never really gave it a chance, the problem is that is that its so fucking hard to get a decent paycheck there, cause of all that camscore BS but i really dont see any options for me right now i know if i can get regs on mfc i can do well it will just take time, some of the xpeeps girls told me about camflare but i have a bad feeling about that site looks exactly the same as xpeeps and they use the same xpeeps servers meaning that eventually we will have the same tech issues there, leading to the same fate xpeeps had, possibly, anyway gotta go hop on mfc

I need some ideas on where to go. I cannot see myself going back to SM, and my MFC cam score is too low to salvage. I am hoping chaturbate will work for me, as I've realized that I much prefer tip based sites to per minute sites. I was on there the other afternoon and didn't make much, but I did enjoy myself and hopefully nights will be better.

About CamFlare? Well, I've logged just over 20 hours and have made $11 in tokens. I am usually on there in the morning or very late at night (after midnight MST). I have not seen a customer with tokens in over two weeks. Also, this morning a guest came in, left to check my profile, and then came back and told me that my audio was echoing. Sound familiar? I know the problem isn't on my end because two minutes before it was fine and nothing in my settings had changed. And I also noticed when I logged on to camflare this morning that instead of saying "CamFlare" it said "Your Logo Here" on the homepage. LMFAO. Not really sure they'll be any better than xpeeps, but as of right now, my guess is NO.

Lol i knew it, same software, same server, same issues, ohh boy what to do now?
Do any of u girls know of any marketing teams to get promoted on mfc? I read somewhere that some of the top 10 on mfc are heavily promoted by marketing teams and tbh i dont mind giving a percentage of my check if im making hundreds a day, pls let me know if u know who does this, or pm me if u dont wanna post here i would greatly appreciate that, thanks!

Usually I wouldn't ramble on a designated thread..but it's dead so whatever. Haha

Last night I was thinking about xpeeps software problem followed by a deep thought. It seems in the six months or so there is a new cam website coming out and attempting to market here and get the girls all rallied up. They usually all fail and are crap, but what if that's the point? Make a camsite with a low budget (meaning bad functions and software that will never support high traffic), recruit girls, market minimally, whitelabel it to SM...profit? Oh course they wont make out big...but it's easy money if you have the "talent" to create it. Just a thought. I'm not accusing AEBN of this, esp. since it's a large company and that's chump change. I'm leaning more towards the no names appearing over night. I was pondering on making a thread concerning this, but not sure if it's worth it since I could vary well just be paranoid.

Either way, I was cautious before...now even more so. I know a lot of the xpeeps gals are trying out camflare, but in my mind I don't trust it. I'll wait it out. Especially since it has the same software, server, ect like Lissie and Courtney are confirming...meaning it will never be able to support decent traffic. As much as I don't like them, I'm sticking to known sites for now. Just my 2cents.

@Lissie I've read a few old treads on here that actually landing a promotional team is somewhat difficult (they find you type of thing). I'd still try and hustle for it, because you definitely have the look worth promoting.
@Ginger I'm soo so sorry girl *hug*

Upsetting. But, I could pretty much see it coming once the RTi started up.
Still...a lot of bullshit. I agree with the sentiment that xpeeps was the opposite of everything I stayed away from streammate for.

Aww stick threw it girl! The other day I walked away from there with 5 bucks..almost cried. Today I did decent, but who know about tomorrow. Mfc is a beast, and I tend to forget that. Some days it's $$ in the bank..other days it's a penny. Still used to logging on and always making a set goal, I got spoiled for sure.
Anyways, I'm with you lovely! Keep on going for it!

wow, I think our thoughtwaves were somehow connected last night, I was thinking the same things... so many small sites popping up out of the woodwork... the only thing that made me think nah - about Xpeeps is cause they had a classic xpeeps site... there was history. I never tied XP to SM before the shocking email, i think no conspiracy there but yea - what a good way to bank, eh? fuck. who's got a pirated script they wanna trade me for a show? ;)

Dammit! #%&@%^$#@#[email protected]!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I only started camming a month or so ago, and only infrequently, xPeeps was my only site. I was just starting to get a following. SUCKAGE! I'll give CamFlare a shot. I'm basically starting from zero again anyway, and maybe the buzz about all the xPeeps girls going over there will help drive some new traffic. grumble grumble grumble....

This whole xpeeps thing has also got me thinking: How can we tell when a site will be viable, and when it's time to throw in the towel? Xpeeps, camwealth- it seems like sites are starting to go under, so how can we protect ourselves?

I'd anticipated xpeeps going under eventually, but I thought it would be more of a gradual process. How do you as a model know when you should start worrying/start looking for a new site? For me, when I start seeing less traffic in total, less Paying traffic, and my hourly is consistently declining with everything else being the same I start to get nervous. Could we have foreseen this xpeeps debacle? Is anyone else starting to get paranoid that camming isn't as secure as we originally thought it was? Which isn't saying much, as this isn't really a "secure" profession, but I'm starting to worry about what would happen if more sites start going bust.

When I noticed the top girl on the site start moving down the page I thought it very odd, cause she was #1 as long as I knew of the site... I still didn't put two and two together, although I wonder if they had opened up to the top models? I was #2 for a couple weeks at the end and they didn't tell me...but may have told the top models who were up there the whole time?

This is purely conjecture on my part, but I doubt it. The tops girls are the ones who are making the site the most money, so I doubt xpeeps would reveal anything to them that would make them want to stop working there/stop bringing in the money. I was hanging out in one of the top girls' rooms on the last night and she seemed genuinely surprised and hurt by the whole thing, I really doubt they gave anyone a head's up.

I also noticed that the #1 girl suddenly stopped logging in, but I figured it just had to do with the fact that the earning potential wasn't as high on xpeeps as it is on other sites. The money I made on xpeeps was pretty consistent, but on the flip side, it wasn't a ton. For me that was okay because it was worth it to have income that I could pretty much count on, but I could see why someone would try a new site where they could make 5-10x per shift as they did on xpeeps.

Camwealth was different because it was an indy model listing site where xpeeps was a cam site. I personally never really thought xpeeps would be able to last that long because of their suspiciously high model % payout. As a model you should educate yourself on all sides of the business (or as much of it as you can).

You'll see when a thread pops up in industry insight here or in other work a lot of the veteran girls grill the 'owner' about his business practices and his %s and usually tell him he doesnt have a chance.

You can do your own research but to sum it up- theres a reason the big box sites pay around 35. Its all they can afford to pay models.A really simplistic overlook is - 35 goes to models 35 goes to affiliates to support traffic 20 is used to run the site (support staff, bandwidth etc)and for the site to pay taxes and 10 is the sites actual profits.

MFC is a whole other beast. They pay 50% and have no affiliates. they generate traffic through the free shows. I have no idea what their profits are or their costs are. There are plenty of clone sites popping up trying to copy their success but no one has yet to.

So any traditional cam site thats going to pay more then 35% to the models is going to have cut costs somewhere else (ie pay the models more but have less traffic, so youll end up with a site full of models but no traffic)

As for xpeeps if they were trying to mimic MFC by implementing a blackout feature for non tippers preventing them from seeing free shows- that pretty much killed the free traffic that MFC thrives on. Just looking at their numbers if they paid models 70% and it costs an average site 20% to operate it only leaves them 10% wiggle room for their profit and money to generate traffic (since they werent getting it for free). Its kind of surprising they stayed online for as long as they did..

It's just sad that this is the third site I've been on that has gone under this past year alone (the other two being SupportMyWish and Stripville). I really need to figure out how to successfully go indy, because I basically just lost my job through no fault of my own. I don't like not having control over my working environment.

One of the best pieces of advice I've ever gotten on SW is to never put all your eggs in one basket because you never know when a site will close down without warning.

^True story. I'm signed up for a bunch of sites but I really need to narrow it down to actively working two, plus two clip sites. There's definitely something to be said for having multiple sites in case something as drastic as this happens, but spreading yourself too thin can also be counter-productive. It's all about balance.

I almost signed up for this bc of the 70% payout thank god i didn't. It just sounded too good to be true. This is why I only stick to big sites. Yes they could go down but it always seems like its the little sites....and I can't risk not getting paid. Remember all the girls that loved onhercam? How many other sites came and bombed? What a mess I hope everyone gets paid whats owed.

Winona, I would still declare it. I mean, you're already filing taxes anyway so why not report the extra $7? I truly douby it will make any difference whatsoever in your return/what you owe but I am freaking paranoid about an audit. If xpeeps reports that $7 and you don't it could raise a red flag, I'd rather play it safe than sorry. It is such a ridiculous amount but I'd do anything to avoid that red flag. I'm not a tax expert, though, just a neurotic cam girl :)
