Camming doesn't make me feel exploited. It's actually quite the opposite. I feel more liberated than I have working at any of the vanilla jobs I've ever had. I don't worry about someone finding out because I don't care what people think. They are not paying my bills, and if they have a problem with what I do then it is their problem not mine. Camming has afforded me the luxury of having complete control of my time, and that my dear is priceless. Other perks include, but not limited to...taking breaks whenever I want, staying up or sleeping in as late as I want. If I don't feel like working one day I don't have to. Not having to answer to anyone. Having the power to choose exactly what I want to do in my show based around my personal preferences.
If I don't like someone, I don't have to deal with them (thank god for the ban button), and getting to dress up and look pretty while getting complimented by dozens of guys who will pay for my company online (talk about a boost to your ego!) Now there are negative aspects of camming but overall the positives outweigh the negatives for me. I've done a few porn movies in L.A for some well known legit companies, I made an average of $700-$800 for a b/g scene, and my shoots usually lasted about 3-4 hours total including makeup and pictures. I had to be tested through Aim for std's before I was allowed to shoot, as did the costar I was performing with.
I never got an std, but I had a friend who was a big name at that time who had gotten several during her career span. I don't think it's a common thing but it does happen. We also have to take into consideration she's probably done atleast 100 movies for various different companies, so yeah I would say her chances were greater of catching something if there was something to be caught. Camming was just a better fit for me personally. With camming I don't have those concerns in the back of my mind. Making porn was fun and I don't regret it at all, but once I got into it, I soon realized it was not the goldmine I thought it would be, same with camming. You need a business plan before you start either if you really want to make serious money. That along with working your ass off and putting in the time and effort. Nothing in the sex business just falls in your lap. Only the strong survive and it is definitely not for everyone.
