I understand your dilemma.. there are a few checks that I get that do not come from the USA.. one is quite the pain because I have to sign.. they always send it registered mail... In fact today I have to go to Post office to get it.. and it's a measly 66 bucks.. and they are quite behind.. takes weeks for me to get the check.. same with another company.. BUT because I have been getting the checks for so long. I get checks every week.. because I already did the waiting dance and now am on point with it.. as far as checks getting lost?? in 10 yrs that has NEVER happened to me.. and I have always received checks or Direct deposit. And of course I used epassporte before but I found that to be more trouble than it was worth.
You are so lucky that you have never had a check get lost. I have been working for jut over a year, and so far, there have been two go missing. One was during the postal strike - by the time it ended and I got everything, there were a few pieces of mail missing, and one was a check. The other is because of my moving (I'm pretty sure) and there being a delay with mail forwarding etc etc. Its not like they go missing all the time, but in the past ten years, I have had at least 10 pieces of mail go missing THAT I KNOW ABOUT. And for checks, its just a hassle. And if I am not willing to wait 45 days, then have it reissued (so, make money, wait for check. Check doesn't get there, give it a few extra days just in case it is late. Wait 45 days to re-issue. Wait for response. Wait for next pay to go out. Wait for check to arrive. I've just waited 2 MONTHS, probably more, to get my money.) then that is $50 so far that I have lost. Not a whole lot, but dammit, I would love it if I had $50 extra right now! I'd go get a massage! ;)
As for being "on point" with your budgeting - thats great. So am I. But you still have to do that when you are with pyoneer, because you are still being paid weekly. There is just less of a wait between earning and getting. It also only works if you are going to stay where you are. I tend to move a lot, because I love the change, and the novelty. Sometimes I move to another part of town, sometimes I move to another country. If I move to LA next month, and I am on payoneer, there is absolutely NO issue whatsoever. If I move to LA next month, and I am being paid by check, there are all kinds of issues. I have to have a new address far enough in advance to make sure that I can send things to the right place, or rely on mail forwarding, which is how my check got lost this time. Or I have to stop working in advance, and take a little holiday so that I am not expecting any money to come in the mail for a while. Its just a big worry, and a hassle.
There are absolutely good reasons for payoneer, and for bank transfers and checks, but I think that it is a matter of picking one that suits you, and makes you feel the most relaxed about getting paid. Its not the case the financially-savvy girls get checks, and spendy girls get DP or payoneer!
