the 5% minimum made sense 5 years ago when the video standard was 320p or 480p and the 'break even' point of earning enough revenues to 'pay for' the streaming server capacity and bandwidth usage was actually around 5% paid sales percentage. It makes no sense today where 720p or 1080p have increased webcam host streaming server and bandwidth costs to the point where the 'break even' point has increased to ~25% paid sales percentage !!!
However, there will be a major 'employee relations' problem for the first webcam host that takes action to limit the financial losses they are increasingly experiencing due to marginal camgirls whose paid sales conversion rates are below today's ~25% 'break even' point ! But there will also be major financial rewards for that webcam host as a result of 'cutting their losses' by firing marginal camgirls ... which the webcam host may then choose to share with top earner camgirls.

Haha, it totally is. I've been reading both when I get email notifications and I keep mixing up which thread I'm in! lol
No complaint though; I'm reading both and absorbing information.

^^^ for better or worse, both threads involve the same single new development ... SM making it known to all camgirls that their percentage of paid sales statistics are being tracked.

Agreed! I just got confused - read one thread....then the other....then went back to the first....LOL! Trying to figure out if it was a SW issue and they were being duplicated!
Thought it was funny...LOL

Does SM actually get rid of girls? I'm under the Transgender category and there are models on there who are straight up gay men. I was shocked at why they were there.

It is possible - but usually for major violations, or repeated suspension-worthy violations. I think that it is pretty rare for SM to actually boot a model, but theoretically, they ABSOLUTELY can.
As for this one - I think that they may be under there as "transvestite" rather than actual "transgender" - assuming that they are dressed as female? I can imagine that SM may actually have put them there, as well as with the "gay men" category...

They are listed under 'Trans mtf' which means male to female transsexuals as myself. They don't even look like transvestites (crossdressers). There are straight up looking men. I was appalled!

Well then, I have NO idea! I was thinking that maybe SM was allowing transvestite performers to work under the trans category, as I don't think that they have a separate transvestite category...but if they are just dudes, well, that is weird!
Why not report them to SM and ask?

Edit: there were three responses in the time it took me to write this one so now it's out of date lol
In the adult industry there is a difference between shemale and transgender that doesn't really exist in the real world. In porn a shemale is a person who has male sexual organs but are visually a women (ie breast augmentation) Transgendered usually relates to men who live as a female, but is still male as a whole. There's no transvestite category usually so this is how they're placed.
If they're just gay men then they've probably just been put under the wrong category.

Good idea! I am going to ask them. I believe these guys signed up as 'transsexuals' and SM approved them. I think there should be a certain criteria!

That is INCORRECT! I am a Transsexual woman and I relate NOTHING to male and live my life fully as a female. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by 'still male as a whole'?!

Or they are like the pregnant dudes. I bet they just tick-tick-tick every boxes when creating their profiles to be in all categories, hoping that someone will find them.

I meant this as the adult industry, not the real world. Sorry if this was confused. The adult industry classifications of this are not the same as day to day life.
A transsexual person in the real world is their new sex. A person who went from Female to Male is a Male. But in camming classifications she would still be a "she" just look male. I wasn't trying be rude or anything, I just don't think I explained it well enough. In this classification online a transgendered person is seen as a person acting as a different sex, but does not visually relate to it (ie what is seen as a transvestite).
It sucks. As a pansexual person who doesn't believe in gender assignment like this I can't agree with this classification. But there's nothing for me to do about it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shemale

I know not many people have encounter a person who is Transgender so the lack of knowledge is understandable. There are three types of Transsexuals
1. Pre-op: have not had SRS (sex reassignment surgery)
2. Post-op: had SRS
3. Non-op: not wanting to have SRS
OP, sorry about the hijack!

Yes, but that's the real world classifications, not the categories made by pervert guys.
Pretty much this:
Shemale: 30145
Transgender: 30146
These are not my own classifications and I'm not some bigot; I promise you. This is the sex worker classifications online. They're grey and not exactly thoughtful in any way.

She actually posted at the same time I did, and explained for herself!! It was all I could think of the language meaning - I wasn't suggesting that this is how I define transsexual.
And you should head up to BC - we have at this point about seventeen thousand different "types" of transexuals, pan sexuals, multi-sexuals, multi-gendered....there is even a specific box to tick for the Native Canadian situation where you are in possession of two "spirits" inside you, one male and one female. I have quite a few friends in many of these categories (and who have even moved through these categories over time - I've watched a close friend go from living as male, to living as female, to going through multiple surgeries (although she kept her cock - says that she just doesn't like vaginas!) and now being considered "post op" m to f trans. Although I think she told me that there IS a word for women like her who have finished with surgery but have retained the penis...) and believe me - no disrespect was intended!!
At this point, I just don't argue with anyone!! Use whatever word feels comfortable, as long as you let me use mine! : )
Threadjack done!!

It is actually called "Two-Spirit". As in "Are you male, female, trans, or two-spirit?"
Its actually really fascinating to learn about...
