I work at a peepshow, when I'm burned out on camming. I just renewed my license for the year, at over $260 so I have no excuse if I'm bored with camming and still bored, in general. Camming isn't as slow for me as its been in the past but the Peep is on and off so I don't frequent it as often. It is nice to have an extra source of income outside the house, just in case something happens and I can't make as much money, online, anymore. I plan to get a bit more into the Peep, later this month. I could use the extra cash, in hand.

As per whether or not its "worth it", for me, its always been about personal comfort. I love not leaving the house for work, so making less than $100/day (although I tend to make much more) makes no difference to me. I've been a club dancer and a peepshow girl so I'd rather sit around in a booth, even, for less than $200/day (what I make on a bad day) than dance around in a bar because at this point in my life, dancing is exhausting both physically and mentally. Peeping can be equally exhausting so I do prefer camming to that, even on my worst camming day. No matter what, I'm still making far more than I spend and living a more relaxed lifestyle, staying home and turning on my computer.

Crispy if you're a domme a clips store can be really profitable. I am a domme (non-nude) and clips are the lion's share of my income, which is why 100-200 daily on phone or cam works for me. My goal this year is to get off cam sites totally and just do clips and NF.

ive been unsure as how to price them. ive seen such a broad range of prices. i sell custom videos for about 30-50 a pop but they are usually 10 minutes long. also dont your listings just get lost in a sea of other fetish clips? im not very good at marketing aside from my twitter and tumblr and blogger. thats why i have held off.

Update frequently. (Several times a day) And promote yourself and you will make a good income off of it.

My 2 cents. :)

I think its also important to keep perspective.

I worked as a 911 dispatcher and made around $22/hr BEFORE taxes. The job required skills and training. I was in university the first time I took up that job and learned the job through an opportunity I had. Most 911 dispatchers have to take a 2 yr college course. I have a university degree in Psychology and computer programming. I got certified as a 911 dispatcher in 9 months.

Right now I am applying for some part time contract work developing iPhone and android apps. From what I am seeing out there, the pay is amounting to around $20/hr give or take.

And this is for a person with 4 years of university education!!!

So keep in mind if you are making $20/hr you are making as much as many college grads!

That said there is something to say about our bodies being sacred and WTF is up with giving it up for $20/hr that I can make using my other skills. Bottom line is getting naked on cam for $20/hr (that I can make doing another job) is barely worth it. If I am going to do sex work its going to be on the terms that I am going to get paid well for it.

That is part of the reason why I don't like free chat. My time is valuable and quite frankly there are other things I would rather be doing then dealing with freeloaders and men who can't afford $3.99/min. I rarely log in to streamate these days. I much prefer keeping AW open in the background, my NF listings set to "on" and my clip store always updated. That way between customers I can sit on my computer and do what I like to do.

Unless you are in a big city and particular ones even then, the industry isnt what it use to be. As a mother Id rather make half as much camming then have to drag my smelly ass home at 3am to my babies then try to wash off the club funk and get up to take my son to school at 7am.
I also wouldnt want to be dancing at 32. I am 31. On cam nobody cares. At the club I dont really stand a chance with all the wet behind the ears 22 year olds.
$100 a day? I know it isnt a fortune but I wouldnt complain. you dont even have to leave the house. Just my 2 cents and i was a dancer for early 8 years.

its funny i say im going back to dancing full time and then i make 600 in 2 days camming on indie. lol still, i think ill do half and half, diversity is good.

@lilred i can see having kids and such that stripping isnt worth it to you. i just cant stand all the trolls and the assholes. people are mor epolitr in person usually. plus i think i make a better impression on people in person.

if anyone can help me figure out hw to price my fetish clips please pm me, i really could use some insight on that.

Stripping is all relative. I know we are all talking about what we make per hour but I'm sorry....camming is way easier to me than waiting tables and a lot of jobs out there. And stripping, there's a lot of really bad clubs out there that put ur safety at risk. Hopefully crispy found a good club, but the risk of getting "found out" on cam is a lot smaller to me than what could happen to me at the club. Remember not all Places or areas are safe either . If u guys don't think camming is worth it don't continue to do it.

On the argument of camming vs. quitting/getting out of the industry:

If camming is your one and only income source - I can understand wanting to switch it up/feeling burnt out. But like it's said, "don't put all of your eggs in one basket."

If you want to stay in the industry, switch it up. Phone sex, affiliate marketing, content, indy work, porn, escorting, etc. To me, camming constantly is extremely draining. I don't like to have to be "on" and perky 100% of the time - so I don't cam very frequently or for very long and when I do my goal isn't crazy high - but I make up for that in other areas. I do what I honestly enjoy doing: content/passive income and fetish.

Of course I value my body - I'm not giving it all away for free. But camming isn't what it used to be and I think online PPM pussy-in-vag porn isn't what it used to be and I think with more tube sites and how freely accessible it is, it's only going to get less and less profitable unless something changes. Or unless YOU change and do something differently to keep ahead of the game. :)

I see how miserable my parents or my friends are with their jobs, or even the ones who are struggling to find temp. work or who have no job at all (One friend is using his Master's degree as a coaster atm). They are constantly grumpy, worn out, tired, and complaining about work. They get nagged at by a boss. They commute. They have to drive through traffic. They complain about gas prices for driving to work. Lots of stress. I mean, I got my nails done a few days ago and the woman doing my manicure was telling me she drives an HOUR to and from work. That's without traffic. Crazy.

So am I complaining about a lower $xxx/day for something I mostly do fetish for? Nope. I only have to work a few hours a day, rather than 8 or 10 or more. I have no boss. I wouldn't have to drive anywhere, worry about being late to work or grind my teeth about filling up my tank for $50.

I am HAPPY with this job. I truly enjoy it. I love that my income is never capped. I love that I have the creative freedom and control over what I chose to do and when and how I work. I deal with depression and anxiety daily so my mental state-of-mind is super important to me. I've had a few vanilla jobs before I found camming and each one wore me out and made me feel 'stuck'. And I had to work way harder and with more stress, for less money than what I do for camming or content.

Sometimes camming is slow, yes. (Like WAY slow, recently) So yeah $30/hr isn't very good.

But let's put it into perspective; what did I do? Commute an hour away? Answer phones? Get treated badly by rude customers? Have my boss NAG NAG NAG? No. I called a guy a faggot while he deep-throated a banana. I stuck my ass in the camera while some guy paid 4.99/min to jerk off to me.

For what little we have to do/deal with (in the comfort of our own home) $30/hr is still pretty good money.

You could argue "value" - but that is subjective to each person. "Anything less than $xx/hr isn't worth it. You're getting naked on the internet!!! Get out of the industry." Yeah, and you come home smelling like french fries and beer. I hated waitress'ing, I hated rude customers. I hated standing on my feet all day, smelling like food when I came home. $11/hr plus mediocre tips wasn't worth it to me.

Choosing between vanilla work or adult, I would take adult. My sense of "worth" and "value" is held in my happiness in myself, my state of mind and what I'm doing - not by society's view of value. ("Cheap slut!")

Of course I value my body - I'm not giving it away for free and I'm not giving it away for any less than I want to (in a pay-per-minute sense). Sometimes I don't get enough guys collectively buying enough shows within an hour time-span - but they are still paying the price that I've set, regardless.

So I guess my angle on this is different - I would rather be doing this, and fluctuating $100-$300/day and be happy (mentally/emotionally) then be stressed out, working 40+ hrs a week to pull in the same money I'm making now. As long as I have $$ to support myself I'll keep at this (adult as a whole) until the well dries up and then move onto other areas.

Annnnd I wrote a book. Whew. The end.

if 100/day 4 vanilla camming is CONSISTENT I would sign a lifetime contract.

that is 40k a year made in total freedom and comfy environment

Everything that Hayden said. Even when camming is bad, it's still good for the effort/lifestyle involved. I think where it starts to not be worth it is if you have ambitions that the porn industry would interfere with...so that would limit your future options and thus earning potential.

I really really hope camming doesn't get so shitty that I can't make 100/day minimum. Or at least within the next 5-10 years. >_>

The great thing about being "self-employed" regardless if it is adult or non-adult work is we can diversify our income and do multiple jobs at any given time. We have the flexibility to choose what day and time we will work on any particular job and the freedom to take off a day or more whenever we want to, for most gigs. Plus we have the "opportunity" ( regardless if we actually do or not) to make as much money as we want inside and outside the home...
With that said we can choose to juggle many jobs at once as long we plan and manage our time well. That is the thing I love about being in the adult field and self employed period.

We can choose to make one thing our main income and then still keep the other streams open in the background. Preferably I like this since I feel no matter what job it is ( even dream job), we can/will always get burned out ( just need a break) from doing the same old thing so it is good to have another way to earn money when you need a break from your main income. I think people just need variety mostly ( and other options when one job does not produce the results we want).

But there is so many ways you can manage your time that I could not even list it all. But even if you are a traveling dancer or escort or go out of town to shoot movies, etc...When you are done and back home, then you can still have cam/pso to do for when you are not working those jobs.
Or If you dance only on certain days then you can cam on your off days from the strip clubs. Or if you are an escort you cam between appointments, etc...etc..Unless you just hate a particular job ( then yeah I will say okay just don't do it) or Booked Up ( you work your main gig to the point all you have time to do is that, sleep, and maybe your "personal life") but if you have time in there and you like a job you can always keep it open as another earner.

Whether cam is worth it or not ( that is only an opinion for each person to decide)..because an extra $100-$300/day from online jobs even if you have a more lucrative job outside the home can add up when you have all your money made in one account at the end of the day. And even if you did not have an outside the home job, and cam is the only source of income $100-$300/day can still be worth it for some people and that is their choice. Plus some people have different beliefs than other, are open about their adult jobs, and probably like getting naked period for people so being able to make decent money from home for them is awesome whereas another person may have certain morals and they are not as open to family&friends about their adult job and may or may not enjoy being naked for people so of course their risk is higher and they want more profit for it to be worth it so really can't argue since it is all relative.

But what I do know is at the end of the day the bigger picture is really our overall earnings..If one gig brings us in $50/day and the second gig brings in $100/day, and maybe the outside the home job brings in $150/day and let's say you are working them all kind of regularly - though it may take long hour days- does it really matter if that one job only made you $50/day when it is getting you closer to an over all goal of $300/day? It is all accounted for in your earning even if it is coming from multiple sources ( excluding any tax reasons why this may or may not be good since I am not keen on this).....

ANYWAYZZZZZZ>>>>>> lol

My point is......actually what is my point? :D Oh, I mean if we can do it all and can manage our time well to dabble in a little bit of this and that then I say do it like that....unless you just flat out don't want to, I suppose.

actually im a Domme on cam, i rarely ever use toys and when i do i fake it. hell i rarely get nude and "spread it". and i work usually 2-4 hours when i cam so i guess maybe im doing ok instead of terrible making 100.

Well I think the main issue is you need to work more to make more than a 100 a day. If your averaging $100 for 2 hours of work that is great. But two hours isn't a lot of time. Myself and the other girls that cam at my studio work 6 hours and break for an hour. We try to put in at least 4 days a week. If you don't really like camming for extensive periods of time you could also get a different job and still cam a couple hours a day, that way your pulling in more income without having to give up camming. Stay motivated and focused on the green ;) Good luck!

Lol I totally agree with you. It does get sooooo draining saying the same fucking thing over and over. Ditto this, I am back in corporate america working now 100 hours a week, and it's still not cutting it. I have to find sometime to cam this week. I would totally strip too, but I am on the other end of the spectrum where I am too thin, no boobs. I would look like a stick that climbed a pole. On a webcam I can hide what I call my imperfections. I used to do well at camming, but I only do well when I am consistent. It's going to be hard to be consistent right now because by the time I get home, and take care of my two kids, I am too tired. But you gotta do what you gotta do, cause my dead beat ex sure as hell doesn't do shit.

Camming isn't for everyone. 100/day is good money to me, and if I never make more than that, I'd still be happy. If I was right for stripping, and had the guts/body for it I would totally go for it.

Stripping isn't really as accommodating for as many body types, ages, etc. E.g. I'm 50lbs overweight right now, but I could still make good money 1-200 online if I put the hours in. I wouldn't even be able to get hired at clubs around here unless I dropped huge amounts of weight. Also, I can cam at 40 and probably make decent money. You can't do that at a stripclub.

Good luck to you though!

i don't know what i would be bragging about making this much money when you just hit the girls up on this site for your pet "emergency". i would be pissed if i donated to your cause and than came over here and saw you were making $150-250 a night. there are a lot of girls that would die to make that consistently.

Chloe, you crack me up! :P That must be in a thread/post I haven't seen yet.

Crispy, $150 - $250/night steadily is great, in my opinion. Congrats!

I gotta admit that it bugged me a while back the way you kinda bit our heads off when we tried to give you advice on your PayPal situation, and I told myself I wasn't gonna bother with any of your threads anymore. But I hope that you do realize that our intentions here are good. We saw you being taken advantage of, and we just wanted to talk some sense into you so you could avoid being taken advantage of in the future. One of my cam girl friends just told me that PayPal permanently shut her down, and she's very upset about it. You are a fellow cam girl and frequent poster of this forum, and we hate to hear about one of our own getting fucked over...that's all.

Again, congrats on the money-making, and keep up the great work!

I am going to try camming as a suppliment for my income soon-I'm moving house. I intend to find a club to strip in, and perhaps get a part time vanilla job. But cam some nights and see what happens. I currently work one or two weekend nights and on a Sat night I make anywhere between £150 and £300-I could do more if I was a better hustler-but it's a downmarket club. The point of this post is, I make average-and the girls who make less than me are not uglier/fatter/older than me-and the girls who make more, are not necessarily younger/prettier/thinner. Sometimes without being bitchy , they look a lot worse than I do. But they do well because they're good at their jobs...

I you have every try to make living off of indy camming you find that it is really hard and way more inconstant than any big box cams sites..... they will be days where you will have back to back show and are so busy that you lose shows then.... there will be days when no mater what you do you not get a show..... I have made 500 in a night indy cam only to make nothing of the next 3 days... then make 25 on the next 4 days. so yes you can have great days indy camming but those days are few and far between....
