My friend made a recording booth in his basement that's sound proof. I know when we buy a new house, I want to get an unfinsished basement and soundproof the fuck out of the basement with this shit:

I use corkboard sheets - these (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00YZ516FE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1) in particular, and throw them on my bedroom floor while I'm working. I also put these (https://www.amazon.com/Pack--Acoustic-Panels-Studio-Wedges/dp/B010GPFRUQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1471197864&sr=1-1&keywords=acoustic+panels) acoustic panels in my windows while I'm working as well. My downstairs neighbor hasn't said anything yet so I'm just gonna assume it works well enough so I can continue to sleep at night. }:D You can also buy sound-absorbing blankets on ebay.

The more I read the more confusing it is!
I think il try some door tape and see if that makes much difference I'm worried about inside the house the bedroom partition wall is a wardrobe full of clothes so that's not too bad it's just the bathroom all and the door. I just don't want it to be obvious when the parents come to stay so needs some careful thought!!

I want to try working as a PSO but I still live at home with my parents and I don't want them to find out. I have a whole floor to myself but my door as Vents for the central air. I work from home doing non-adult work and they said they can't hear me unless I'm talking loud. I am also considering getting a lock on my door.

how about some foam mats to block the vents and a towel under the door? fans don't really work well in my experience. music might also be a good thing to add.

Thanks for replying how would I use the mats to block the vents?

Fans do work but your customers will hear it. Depending on how strong it there will always be a buzz sound. Like really loud white noise.

Hi, Philotes! Welcome to the forum..yes, considering there's vents that prob wouldn't be the best, as was pointed out
I'd cover those babies up, nice thick heavy mats, they have foam ones w/vinyl tops, so they just look like a floor protector.
Good luck.

like lay them across. cover the vents with the mats. completely. think like gym mats with the thick covers.

I like mine for 'white noise', & to block out next door stuff when it happens, which isn't a lot.
& Yes, I've heard great things about the mover blankets to blot out noise.

I read on another forum where someone said they would get under the covers. When they worked as a PSO to help muffle the sound I don't know if that really works though.

I've seen this topic popup quite a few times lately. Currently my workspace is separated from the rest of the house but the door has a pretty large space at the bottom. So I've attached a thick rug to open and close with the door covering up all open spaces. I also have a fan running directly in front of the door. Nothing escapes.

I need to post a photo of my home outlay.
Basically I put my mom in the dining room. nice ass bedroom. I decorated it like my cam room. draped cutrains everywhere.
I blocked off the small hall, used a soundproof blanket but I can still hear HER lol when camming
This room is beside the kitchen.living room. and of course dining room.
Im thinking I need to move camming into my bedroom and my bedroom into my tiny cam room. my bedroom is big, huge. sounf worries me but the sound in the tiny room is annoying as fuck plus I cant move for my guys that like full body view.
sighs I just want a camgirl friend to come over and HELP!
My momma assumes I work in the sex industry but no clue doing what I am actually doing.
so annoying to be a sex worker and Joan of arc at the same time.

^^^ Sex worker & Joan of Arc? LOL & OMG i know what u mean!!
I have issues with the guy living under me, he complained to the building admin cause i make noise at nite, admin wrote me a note to keep quiet at nite but this idiot makes noise during the day for years with turning up music til the walls shake, i complained several times and called the police one nite cause music was extremely loud and shaking the walls soo bad.
Now i just struggle to keep as quiet as possible but in this building u hear everything especially at nite when i cam. Dont know how to sound proof the floor, with thick carpets maybe? I also go to the bathroom often and he can hear the water running and the doors opening/ closing cause imagine, he beats in the walls even i try to make as little noise as possible. He just hates me cause the complaints and police calling but it was too much, he had no respect for us the neighbors, others complained too. Cant sound proof the bathroom, corridor, i dont know how to sort this out. I had to buy me a new sofa cause the bed was squeaky and he heard me while moving in it OMG! Such a hard time working at home in a building full of neighbors (apartments).

I've become quite the 'Stealth Cammer' in the last 5 places I've lived in.:killer:
Hope I can help.
I've lived in places with roommates, where I've had to keep MY camming noise quiet.
And roommate situations where I have to keep THEIR noise out of my camming space.
Either way, it helps to start with putting yourself farthest away from the door.
If you want to keep THEIR noise out, you put a tower fan on, facing the door. Put a little boombox there too, with talk radio on. Roll up a towel, for under the door.
It's the same if you want to keep them from hearing you. Only I'd add a mic.
You can test it ( if you want to keep your sound out), by putting on a porno, and listening from outside the door.( With the fan and radio on)
Does that make sense?
I'm happy to Skype with you to help set it up.
Because at this point, I could cam from the White House, during a press conference, and not a soul would know what I'm up to.
My landlady thinks the Virgin Mary lives here.:D

20 years ago i was a trash whore going to hell unless I repent my sins and give my heart to lord and in the her spare time calling social services on me for being a whore :D

The way my room is set up (the only way it can be) is I either am closest to my bedroom door or my adjacent wall where I'm closest to my neighbour (who is batshit crazy). I chose the bedroom door. I bought a little (but powerful) white noise machine and have it on right outside my door. My roommate can't hear shit when it's on. I can hear her somewhat but not enough for it to be a big distraction.

I use this portopotty. Walmart has them in the camping section. My bathroom is too far to walk to from my bedroom, and cam area. Lol!
I use it for just pee. But if you want to shit in it, just line it with a garbage bag, with Kitty litter on top. ( I've tested it out.)
You can get this inflatable tub. Just use the pump that you would use for a blow up mattress to inflate it. I'm getting one for my backyard, instead of a pool.
Sink? No problem.
Sink/ potty combo is on eBay, for a bit over $100

OMG what options u guys have there gearwise, amazing!
Yeah, for me is a hassle to go to bathroom after every show to pee and wash hands/ toys if i use, is not far away but the noise i make is disturbing my crazy neighbor & my son even i try to be very silent. I live in a small apartment, just one door between my room which is the livingroom, camroom & bedroom (3 in one) and my son's very small converted room.
Imagine when parents visit i cant cam as this is the only room they can sleep in, luckily they dont visit very often but mom had to stay here now and then when was needed due to doc visits and related issues.
The reason i cam at nite after my son goes to sleep is cause in the nite i have my peace not intersecting each other when trying to go to bathroom at the same time, we only have a bathroom.
I could work during the day when he is at work but i cant make money then, considering i am in Europe i just dont get decent traffic during the day here plus is extremely difficult for me to cam when outside is very hot, noise from the busy city with a busy main road next to my building, with people being noisy outside, drilling machines on all the time, they also cut the water to work the pipes that always get damaged and so on and on, at nite is more quiet and i feel less stressed to cam.
What a life some of us cam girls have! I too wish a toilet with sink and running water in my room but it's impossible to get cause of no space, guess i'll buy me two buckets as well to wash hands and toys and one to pee in hahaa, it's soo inconvenient to live with kids or other adults in the house while trying to make a living on cam while doing ur best to have privacy/ intimacy and not be disturbed or disturb others. Hard to deal with all these aspects of cam work!

I feel you. I've been living in my apartment for 5 years next to an old couple who house their teenage son/ Dad. Their baby screams at 2 in the morning so I know they can hear me cam.
What I do to make up for it is to turn the volume sensitivity on the broadcast as HIGH as I can make it (some of them echo so I check the preview of the cam to be sure) and then when I talk or moan, I do it as softly and as close to the cam as possible. At least I do this when I do overnight shifts. If it's 9am till like 7pm, I don't give a shit. Why? Because I'm working. Besides, ain't the neighbors supposed to be at work too? LOL

I few months back, I saw an ad for a face mask that gamers wear that allows them to be verbally loud without disturbing others.
I REALLY need a face mask/noise dampener so that I can do my phone calls without my neighbors hearing it. I know my next door neighbor might be hearing something (we share a bedroom wall) because he's turning up and down his music when I'm taking phone calls.
Please lead me in the right direction!

I use white noise machines as well. I have them by my window and door in the room where I talk. If someone does not want to buy separate white noise machines, I know a lot of smart personal assistants like Google Home/Google Home Mini/etc will play various white noise if you ask it to. I assume the same for Amazon Echo. I use dedicated white noise machines and just leave them on 24/7.

I’ve needed this thread for so long. So glad it got bumped up. My problem is my neighbors are so loud you can hear them on my cam. It doesn’t matter what room I cam in I am surrounded by loud families. It’s really annoying and I have to constantly apologize to my customers. Most of the time it’s kids being rambunctious and babies crying. Customers assume they are my kids playing in the next room. I get so frustrated and start getting mad that I don’t make enough money to live in a more peaceful apartment.

Been there! You should aim to move out asap, but in the meantime you can still work. Have foam padding on the walls that aren't visible on cam or any large fabric, to absorb some of the noise. Play music just loud enough to drown some of it. And try to cam when they're not home or when they don't make as much noise.
Any chance you have a condenser mic? They pick up the sound that's directly in front of them, as opposed to all the surrounding sound. If not you can get a decent and cheap one on aliexpress.
