This thread is timely: I'm on the third floor right by the pool. When kids are playing I can hear the squeels. I'm sure members hear them too & we aren't even into the hottest part of the year. Eeeek!
I always have the fan on & play music at a decent volume, but I fear it's not enough.
Great ideas in the thread. Thanks!

So the white noise machines actually work? I was thinking about purchasing one from Amazon.

I do not like playing music on cam because I find they linger longer. But since it was suggested and I have a HUGE noise issue with my neighbors and their kids I have been running a fan and music and found it helpful.
Last week I was doing a show and one unit was having a kids birthday party and they started singing Happy Birthday.
The guy ended the show and I was so pissed. It’s really embarrassing for me when these guys can hear them, and they always ask if the noise is coming from MY kids!

I'm not laughing at the guy ended the show but it cracks me up that he could hear them singing Happy Birthday! I don't do sound but when some ask for sound I'm tempted to play police siren for them.

I would imagine white noise only work if you don't have a loud mouth or a screamer.

I sleep with a white noise machine but I've never tried it for camming. My apartment is by the pool so sometimes you can hear kids. At least it's only for 3 months out of the year.

OMG!! I have the same problem!! My neighbor from hell naw 3 damn kids and 4 dogs in a small studio apartment. You're only supposed to have 2 people and two dogs. It's a daycare and kennel all day long. I complained but landlord doesn't care or do shit. I'm moving in 3 mo the. No more outdoor entryway apartments ever again!!

I have this living next door to me.
He never leaves, and I share common walls with him.
He copies my every move.
I'm in the kitchen.......So is he.
I'm in the bathroom......So is he. ( Walls are so thin, I can hear him hacking up a lung every morning, and farting)
I get in the shower.....So does he.
I sit in my yard...So does he.
He's eerily silent while I'm camming...In the living room, right next to the kitchen.
I use fans, white noise machine.
Nothing worse than a person with too much time on their hands.
Nothing.
It's beyond annoying.51535

I few months back, I saw an ad for a face mask that gamers wear that allows them to be verbally loud without disturbing others.
I REALLY need a face mask/noise dampener so that I can do my phone calls without my neighbors hearing it. I know my next door neighbor might be hearing something (we share a bedroom wall) because he's turning up and down his music when I'm taking phone calls.
Please lead me in the right direction!
I finally saw someone on Mixer using one of these. I'm not sure which mask he was using but he looked like Bane. It was hilarious. My husband says you can create your own diy soundproof mask with just about anything. I haven't tried it yet but it's now on my list of things to explore. I can't imagine doing this as a Cammodel but it could work for a pso. I found this video for using a Beltbox with a smartphone.

I have this living next door to me.
He never leaves, and I share common walls with him.
And freaky!
I only share one bedroom wall with someone. The first night I laid down I heard snoring. Woke up next day, I hear him singing, laughing, the tv. I am thinking....great, now what. The next day my headboard arrives and I think, ok, this should help. NOPE! Still heard everything.
Then I thought I should put my $40 sleeping bag (https://www.walmart.com/ip/Coleman-Montauk-20-Degree-Sleeping-Bag/44504330) behind the headboard so I did not end up banging the wall with my unattached headboard (no clue how this thing goes on the bed). Now I can't hear anything to the point I asked my landlord if he moved out! It seems to have sound proofed everything with just that space. It has been 3 months and I hear nothing.
The sleeping bag kept sliding down to the floor, I nailed it with super tiny nail it.
This is shocking to me because I have tried so many different things in the past and nothing worked

Well it appears not only soundproofing is an issue for me, but overall privacy. One of my neighbors asked me if I am a YouTuber! I started laughing. She is a teenager and people think I’m a lot younger than I am. She proceeded to ask me why do I have professional lighting meaning she’s been looking inside my apartment! I have black out curtains, and I just blasted my TV, put the lighting on and went outside to see/hear what they are. I think they are looking in my windows when I am not working and I have them open.

I have two suggestions if you need to be quiet camming - one is a small in-ear bluetooth (computer compatible) that you can hide behind your hair. Most computers that have bluetooth will connect with them. That way all sounds, tipping, alert sounds and loud guys moaning on cam2cam all go right into your ear and won't disturb neighbors or housemates.
I don't even have housemates anymore but I still use it because I can listen to youtube, podcasts, etc while camming when it's slow and I need to occupy myself waiting for shows.
The second suggestion is boosting your microphone volume up so that you can even be heard if you whisper. If you are running Windows 10 your USB microphone may need extra software to overcome the limitations. Here's how:

Can anyone help me out? I've changed my schedule up for people being at home and its upset my dogs. They barked non stop through my whole shift last night till I had to log off. Its not so much me but my neighbours who will start complaining, so I can't let them keep going. I have put a door on the room they are in and brought bones for them. Does anyone have any good ideas how to sound proof a window (already double glazed) and help to keep the sound in the room? I had thought of pillows in the window? Quilt over the door. We are on lock down but could order sound proof tiles from amazon. Its my Kitchen they are in so there is stuff on the walls which is supposed to help. Happy to order the tiles if anyone thinks they work but obviously right now cheaper is better. The floor is laminate which isn't ideal I know but if I put rugs down they will chew it. We are now on one walk a day too with restrictions but will tire them out as much as I can.
Any ideas much appreciated!

I live in a rowhome. I used to have an elderly lady living next store, but she passed away. Her family didn't do anything with her house for over a year, so it was nice. I could be as loud as I wanted.
Now family members are renovating the home to move in. It sucks because there's been too much noise over there--drilling, etc for me to cam or film. I just have to do it when they're gone.
I'm concerned about the future tho. It's a couple with 2 kids. I can hear everything going on over there, so for sure, they'd be able to hear ME when I am camming.
I'm gonna be puttng my house on the market soon and trying to find a better situation, but I need to cam in the meantime.
Those of you in apartments/condo/shared wall situations, how do you soundproof???

My situation is similar, my elderly neighbour was deaf and after she passed the house was empty for just on two years. Now a single man has moved in and is retired so is in most days all day. I noticed when I was camming in my spare bedroom I could hear him in his, he must have his computer in there. So I knew he could hear me, I started camming in different rooms. When I could hear him on the computer I would work from my own bedroom and if he was out or else where in the house I would work in the spare room. A complete pain in the arse.
I have given up now and just cam from the spare room and let him make of it what he will. I have moved furniture on to the adjoining wall in the hope it stops some noise. Different when there are children though.

It's rough when it's too noisy to cam or film, but if you're worried about the opposite, others hearing you, try getting a bluetooth earpiece. I got myself a small one that fits closely so it's not even noticeable on cam:
https://www.amazon.com/SZHTFX-Bluetooth-Bluetooth5-0-Wireless-Earpiece/dp/B08QN1B92S
When I connect it to my computer it routes all the sounds to my computer. (Be sure you go into your settings and disable the microphone though - your cam mic or external mic will be much better sound).
It's awesome because there is no sound while camming (even during cam2cam) except me talking. I can even listen to music or podcasts during slow times and my viewers in free chat have no idea.

Put extra rugs (throw), heavier curtains, etc.
I personally have a white noise machine, I have a foam rubber mattress cover I'm going to tack up in front of my door.
There was a camming w/roommates thread, try searching for it in this section.
Good luck.

Tutorial!!!!!!!! Already trying to rope my partner into it!!!! Hahahahhahah
eta: how much was it for them to do it?
it was $200 dollars including materials and labor . took 3 people 4 hours to do it.
but thats in mexico. so .
what they used was the following
insulation (like you would use on a house)
then used 1 large dry wall piece
they drilled it in with screws
then they covered the sides so no sound escapes with cement paste
mainly you just need to know how thick your window is so you know how much space you have to work with.
measure the depth. so you can see how much insulating you can do.
the more the better.
you can put a curtain piece before the insulation so that way it looks like from the outside there is a "curtain"
so no one will know that behind the curtain there is insulation and dry wall.
once you leave (if you need to get your deposit back , it can easily pop off the wall and be cut off so it wont damage the property.
any further questions just PM me :-)

That looks great and very effective! I did something similar with my bedroom window, though I did a way shittier job. I removed the blinds and curtains, got two pieces of this (https://www.lowes.com/pd/Common-0-5-in-x-4-ft-x-8-ft-Actual-0-45-in-x-4-ft-x-8-ft-Sound-Board-1-R-1-3-Unfaced-Cellulose-Foam-Board-Insulation-with-Sound-Barrier/3014222) and cut them to fit my window, so there was a double layer, and wedged in some rope caulk to fill the gaps and keep it in place. I don't particularly recommend the rope caulk as it loses adhesion and falls off eventually, but it worked for a while and didn't damage anything. I already had privacy film on the window so it doesn't look bad from the outside. Then I put a huge tapestry over that entire wall and live as though the window isn't even there, but when I move I could probably get it back to normal in less than an hour. It doesn't entirely block out sound but it's way better than it was before.

With this thread, I am really gonna take into consideration to invest into some solid windows when I build the camming space. The cam room will have super expensive ones that block all the sound. Ok, the whole house will have pretty solid ones, because of my dogs that LOVE running around the yard and bark at everything, in the middle of the night. And I'll make sure I get that type of mirrored windows, where you can see only from inside, but from outside it's a mirror. Idk how to explain in english, but you know what I mean.
I keep the blinds on anyway, but yeah...
Writing down here to keep in mind!
