No it's not totally useless. Both the World Health Organization and the National Institute of Health continue to use its guidelines.

That shortcoming of BMI you refereed to actually over-diagnoses obesity in muscular people, not thinness.

The American Medical Association has found that those categorized as Underweight do indeed have a death rate similar to those with morbid obesity. This is a fact and you're free to look it up for yourself.

Being underweight and overweight are not really a matter of opinion. They have medical definitions based on the health risks associated with different weights.

As I already said you're not far from the lower end of healthy range (only 2 pounds below) so you're not going to look scary thin. Although at 89 pounds you certainly were at risk for health issues!

Just to emphasize the general point, this curvy=fat nonsense and obsession with being thin (most cases underweight) are all the kinds of things you used to see on Pro-ANA sites. It started creeping into the mainstream when those retarded gossip sites (run and visited by people who often aren't even attracted to women) made it their mission to make fun of girls over 90 lbs and the media started glorifying body types that just 10 years before would have been considered freakishly thin by both cultural and medical standards. Keira Knightly looking that skeletal would have caused all kinds of controversy back in 2000 but we've reached a point where no one even bats an eye anymore!

But while the cultural standard may have shifted, the medical one remains the same because it's based on science, not some schmuck's opinion. Here are some of the problems connected with the type of body the media has been shoving down women's throat in the last few years: osteoporosis, anemia, alopecia, mouth infections, gastrointestinal obstruction, liver disease, kidney problems, permanent organ damage, and heart failure.

Keep in mind this whole waif-craze is very recent. A lot of these celebrities walking around looking like Keira Knightly didn't look that way 7-8 years ago. You're going to see a lot of these women develop severe health issues as they start getting older. And the same goes for those who try to look like them. At this point a whole generation of young girls has been already brainwashed and I've been seeing the results of it all around in the past year. Girls as young as 13 walking around looking like cancer patients, maybe 5-10 lbs away from anorexia.

You will start seeing the health costs of this insanity within this decade. You will see the toll it will take both physically and psychologically on the young girls growing up with this bullshit. Mark my words.

People in Japan are studied to be one of the longest living people on earth and they are SKINNY.

skinny looks okay up until a certain point but imo doesn't age well. A little fat is needed to cover up the wrinkles when you're older. i prefer a toned look--like jennifer aniston type.

Japanese ppl are very thin, and maybe about 1/3 are skinny to the
Point of looking nasty and gross, like the Pictures of holocaust victims.

I'm starting to think that for most of the Japanese populations mostly it's good genetics that make them thin, and to a lesser degree smaller portion sizes.

But they DO eat a lot of carbs in the firm if white rice as well as udon and soba noodles.

Did you ever see the thread " the skeleton thread' if not it's a must read since people in here posted completely conflicting stuff to what they posted here. Also I read were someone here found out about chia seeds from an anorexic website. Oh the hypocrisy is ironic.

Yeah, that was me..... some random chick started a thread linking to another anorexic website, and I was curious so I read a little bit. There is definitely a marked difference (for me at least) in an anorexic chick and non-ana. I couldn't relate to anything on that site, and laughed at most of it, but those chicks were taking that shit seriously. I did find out some neat little tips though, chia seeds one of them. LOL.

I just realized that a lot of the controversial threads that people are bitching about were started by me.....

And I will say, in regards to the fat chicks perpetrating as thick chicks on here and sticking up for their posse, it's comical to read some of the stuff in What Did You Eat Today thread. I would see some chick bitching about how she really wanted to lose weight, and only ate vegan, then would be like "Hmmm well today I had a carton of chocolate soy milk, a slice of raw vegan chocolate cake, a Morningstar veggie burger, some coconut milk ice cream for dessert, a soy mocha frappuccino in the morning.... etc. That shit is comical and borderline annoying to me..... Are people that oblivious and wonder why they are still fat asses even though they are vegan???

That site was odd, because all of their thinspo was very, very, very thin (too thin for me IMO), to the point that the skinny girls who still had some boobs were considering getting breast reductions just so they could complete the "skinny aesthetic," but their food section was very healthy. I read a lot of senior girls criticize newer girls' diets for being too restrictive, most eat around 1000 cal that's full of nutrient dense foods that are all natural and very healthy. I got a lot of great meal ideas from that site. I'm not really keen on the chia seeds TBH, I'll still add them to some meals for the Omega-3s, but there are a lot of other great food tips on that site that I use now. Those girls really know how to cook!

On a related note, I found a nice coconut oil cooking spray at Whole Foods. It barely has any calories (to fully grease up your pan it's like 5 calories tops) and it doesn't leave your food tasting nasty, or let it burn. The other night I just sprayed my pan and threw a ton of veggies (including 4 handfuls of spinach) and then some Pasta Slim on top and boom-amazing meal in 5 minutes. Pure coconut oil grosses me out though. I don't know why everyone here is so obsessed with sticking it on their face, their hair, their vagina, their tea...yuck. Those girls are probably reading this forum thinking "strippers stick....what???......in where???????"

*shudders* That is SO gross. Right now I'm doing a carb fast and I'm trying to get as many of my calories from fat as possible, so I tentatively took that "just eat it" advice. I ended up putting a TEASPOON, not multiple tablespoons like some advocate, of peanut oil in a 16 oz almond milk + chocolate protein powder shake. It was really delicious. But peanut oil is actually yummy...coconut oil just looks disgusting. And both have 120 cal/tablespoon so.....not really the best for weight loss.

Eating a tablespoon of coconut oil would help me lose weight in that it would make me so sick I would vomit and not eat anything for the rest of the day. But other than that....veggies + portion control on everything else is the way to go!

Japanese people tend to prioritize fashion above food. It isn't a body image thing like it is with us--its a cost of living thing. They can't afford food and high fashion, so they choose the latter. Of course they are also genetically thin, but yeah--look into the above. It's sad =( This happens in Korea, too. ETA: I don't want to say that they are starving themselves, per se, because those cases are probably the most extreme, and I'm not trying to throw a blanket statement at the entire Japanese population, but there is alot of restricting the quantity of food intake in an effort to save money especially amongst the tweeners who wouldn't otherwise be able to dress as fabulously as they do.

I originally heard about this^ from an older, rich Japanese businessman, and at the time I thought he was joking.

If she didn't starve herself on the HGC diet she wasn't ON the HGC diet, she was just taking HGC... The hgc diet involves EXTREME caloric restriction... so perhaps you ought to try knowing what the fuck you're talking about before you start talking about it.
And where did you criticize anyone? Are you serious? You literally wrote that before an entire post that's nothing BUT criticism. OFF TOPIC criticism and personal attacks. Which... is just stupid. It doesn't prove your point.
You should've spent the time you took to go through my old posts to look up what you're talking about instead.
Since you can't seem to keep focused... We're talking about the fact that you're telling people "don't starve yourselves! go on this starvation diet, instead!" And then you try to say it's NOT a calorie restrictive diet... have you ever bothered to look it up... EVER???

Literally every link Google pulls up mentions that it's a 500 calorie diet.

As for your person attacks. Fuck yes I posted in the skeleton thread. Fuck yes I thanked that post. Funny that you read through the skeleton thread but don't seem to remember that I'm, like, the one of the curviest girls on this damn site. 32-24-39 right now, thanks. So if there's ANYONE who has the right to get offended at these fat sows you're all linking and calling thick/curvy... it's me. I have a gorgeous body with a tiny waist, flat stomach, and thick ass and thighs. If I looked like the girls people are posting here... I wouldn't call myself thick... I'd call myself FAT because it's fucking true.| The fact that you all seem to think that only being "a little fat" = thick is offensive and ridiculous.
Sweetie all I said was I had a few friends that did the diet with good results and said it wasn't any worse than the threads I've seen posted here to lose weight and added a few examples. I also said any weight loss route anyone decides to go they need to research it. Where did I personally attack anyone. I was the one being attacked by tarstone telling me I'm too skinny' unhealthy because I weigh 113. Did anyone come to my offense and I have no need to look through your old posts as you've posted nothing of interest to me but you were on my page. Lol. Yeah I was thinking about my injection situation and think about how worrying about minor things are just not a big deal. Its better to be happy and not stressed, than worrying about something to the point where other people notice and have to point it out. If you obsess about something, it consumes you. And that obsession and stress takes a toll on your mind and body.

I'm glad to hear I've posted nothing of interest to you, but you can still remember everything I've ever posted. I'm not going to bother responding to the rest of your posts, as it pertains solely to things I've already explained to you. Your posts are the equivalent of me saying "You guys should try this thing called 'the anorexia diet'... my friend tried that and lost a TON of weight!" then trying to justify it because I didn't 'know what it was, just that my friend lost a lot of weight'... suggesting people cause themselves potential physical harm to lose weight isn't "okay" just because you "didn't know". You're smart enough to figure how to use the internet... you should be smart enough to not tell people to starve themselves "on accident".

For the record I don't think I could do it even if I wanted to. While I don't consume Chips a hoy or wawa croissants by the boatload anymore, I do like my meats and veggies. If it worked for someone else, that's great. Perhaps that individual was very obese and they needed to take drastic measures. There is no one cookie cutter solution for weight loss. We're all wired differently. Some things are obvious common sense like not consuming copious amounts of cookies or Mcdonald's Big Macs.

For me overall the Paleo diet has been my success. I have tried Fatkins, those damn bee pollen pills, the master cleanse and they all had short term results. They may have worked on others but on me they were all a bust.

Bulimic chicks are known to not be skinny, bulimia does not equate to your body not absorbing the calories from the food that hits your stomach..... IMO it's more mental than anything. Completely pointless!!! So you don't lose weight AND you end up with "bulimia face" which looks like chipmunk cheeks and an overall bloated face from the tiny blood vessels that burst and swollen glands, and masseter muscle hypertrophy, which just means the muscles around your jaw line get huge and developed from all that puking, and you end up looking like Quagmire.

It's a total compliment. Really, don't be offended at all if you get called "thick". Unless of course it is an obvious insult. But much more often than not, the guy is complimenting you. Men love curvy, soft, squishy, succulent, juicy women!!! Be PROUD that you are one of them!

Think about it.... if you're a guy and you're pounding some chick from behind, do you want to be ramming into the bones in her skinny ass or would you rather be bouncing off a nice, soft, jiggly round ass??? LOL :)

IDK, I guess I'm a bit of a chubby chaser lol.

I pretty much only ever buy dances from thicker girls, but I don't mean a fat stomach. I like a big ass, big hips, big thighs, and big tits and a small waist-like hourglass style. Not to say that like, Avery for instance, isn't hot as fuck, cuz she is. I'm just not attracted to that. But she is super hot. :) Just not my personal type.

So I guess I like jiggly, thick, succulent, juicy women lmfao. I wouldn't every describe them as succulent or juicy though, unless we're talking about a certain part of their anatomy, and I REALLY don't like going there. hehe

As for men, I don't like skinny guys either. *shrug*

Point is, to each their own. What one person may percieve as an insult, another may see as a compliment. Like, if I ever called a girl thick or curvy, I mean it as a big compliment, not an insult.

I prefer to be thin because I think it looks better on me, but not everyone is meant to be a size 4.

I was a size 4 for a long time and I still had boobs, huge ass hips, and a giant bubble butt. They still jiggled. Yet I had a completely flat stomach and and 4pack. But I was still deemed thick and curvy. Real tits jiggle guys. Real asses giggle guys. And yes, everything else can still be hard.

I really just think this whole argument is dumb (not directed toward you), because everyone their own preferences, but its always a good idea to be open-minded.

We all know you can never be too thin to strip, but for porn its different. For camming its different.

Look today at the Twistys Treat Of The Year last year Taylor Vixen. She's supposedly the hottest of the hot in mens eyes right in order to win that title? Shes very curvy. I think she was also Penthouse Pet Of The Year recently too. Jenna Rose is the most recent one, and shes thin to normal body type.

So anyway, moral of the story: Different people like different things. Some like curvy, some like thin, some like average, some like BBW. Some like implants, some like natural boobs, some like small boobs, some like huge boobs. Unless she's about to keel over dead of having 1% bodyfat, a chick is always gonna have something on her ass. Also, gonna be a lot easier to get depth if he's not fighting a massive ba donk a donk.

A lot of guys don't like the idea of having a ass jiggling away every time they hit it. I know I would be mortified if anybody said my ass came close to jiggling.

All I can say is I agree with those who say not all men like jiggly women. When I think jiggly I think fat because quite honestly if you jiggle more than likely you aren't curvy you are FAT. Sorry but that's how I see it. Also agree with the idea men like different things. Men I dated liked that I am a combo of curvy (mostly in the breasts)but mostly muscular. I don't jiggle except when I gain weight. Some of my exes liked skinny women and thought I was too fat (though in fact I was in great shape). Other guys I know like chubby, and some like certain things. My point being that I am tired of this idea that "all men" like certain things. No, not all men like that. In fact there is no such thing that "all men" like and unless someone asks every single man out there you won't get a definitive answer.

This is so true. Ends up happening on so many threads too. Its like there are 3 people on sw who constantly have to be right...and if you disagree with them then you are called names, your intelligence is insulted, or you are called a troll, or the sources you are pulling from are deemed incredible. Its just frustrating. I can't be the only one wondering what the point of belonging to a message board. Is if you are that opposed to external opinions? Wouldn't it be easier to start a private group or something?

Let me guess, me, BOTM, Desu, Mediocrity?

Probably me too. I recently told someone "proof" is not an opinion piece on an online newspaper. Oh well.
