* i feel like this would breed bacteria like crazy, so i would only use it for a good last use and toss it, not for a few days

How about a pump of hand sanitizer? Anyone wanna test it out? My mascara is still fairly new...

A bit of olive oil instead of damaging hair serum. Avoid putting it near the roots. I do this after I braid my hair over night and let it loose for the wavy look the next day.

The alcohol in the hand sanitizer would dry it out even more.

^Good point...COCONUT OIL. Just a bit. Since its anti-bacterial/fungal.
K. Done thinking of how to revive mascara.

I'm feeling too lazy to read through the whole thread but I'll add my two cents:) I know they are not all make-up trick but some are ways to prime before makeup:)

1. Preparation H is a girls best friend for under eye bags, take a q-tip and spread a thin film on under eye using a q-tip. Be careful not to get into actual eye.
2. Honey+Sugar= a Cheap scrub that is great for my facial skin.
3. Monsitat Chaffing Gel= a great, inexpensive facial primer before putting on makeup.
4. Witch Hazel makes a great toner for the face.
5. Coconut Oil= Skin+Hair treatment (Great to bake with too heheh).
6. Get a find mist spray bottle and spray your stippling brush or sponge before applying concealer, or foundation it gives you a more airbrushed sheer look. Blends makeup out much better just don't get the brush very wet, it barely needs to be damp.
7. Put Highlight in cupids bow area, down the bridge of the nose, and just above your cheekbones, really wakes the face up. Follow with contour of nose and cheeks if need be. Truly highlights and shadows certain areas to give effect of nose jobs, fuller lips, smaller forhead etc.
8. ELF setting spray- the dry skinned girls best friend to help set her makeup as opposed to powder, which makes dry skin look even more dry.
9. Draw with a flesh toned pencil or white in the water line gives the appearance of bigger, wider eyes.
10. Baby Shampoo is great alternative to expensive brush cleaning shampoos, and works just as well.
11. Put Oatmeal(not the instant kind) into a panty hose tie a not at the end, drop under running bath water, viola you have a lovely oatmeal bath great moustirizing skin.

I know these aren't all makeup tips, but def. beauty tips. Will be back with more soon:)lol

Baby oil in your bath water makes your skin really nice and soft, just be careful because it makes the tub slippery as well

When I get out of the shower, I don't wipe off right away. I put some baby oil in my hands and cover my body with it, THEN wipe off. Your body will stay hydrated ALL day. Especially if you live in a cold and/or dry environment. Just don't do it too soon before going to work, the stage will be like a Slip N' Slide.

Have you guys tried the oil cleansing method (OCM)? I used to break out like crazy in the summer esp on my forehead where my bangs were. I did some research, and started the OCM.
Basically, I wash my face w/ my regular cleanser to get the makeup off, then take a tsp full of oil (i've used olive oil but my fave is almond oil)and rub it on my face (I usually do this in the shower when my pores are open). I massage all over my face for a few mins and then rinse really well. Your face will feel oily until you pat dry and after does not feel oily at all, just moisturized. The science is that oil dissolves oil and so all the blackheads and clogged pores will drain out.
When I started doing this, my skin stopped breaking out and looked way healthier. I was scared at first because just the thought of putting oil on my face terrified me...but I tried it and I won't ever buy an anti-acne product again...ever.

The BEST facial/body exfoliant I have ever tried? CORNMEAL!! I mix a little plain or blue cornmeal with olive or coconut oil for deep moisturizing or with a little raw honey for my face, where I tend to get zits. It is a very powerful scrub so be gentle when you use it! It clears up zits when used with honey or yogurt as a mask/scrub, gets rid of any ashy or callused areas on the body, and makes your skin like silk. It's also great as a pre-tanning scrub!

1. Use Q-tips everytime you make a mistake on your eye makeup.
They don't smudge or ruin your makeup like regular tissue paper will or your fingers.

2. Moisturize everyday (after every bath, shower, and/or swim).

3. Waterproof mascara & waterproof eyeliner is the way to go when working in a very physical job (such as dancing). It takes off easier with makeup remover and/or Noxzema.

Not sure if these were mention, didnt read the thread yet.

- Put on lotion right after a shower, when the body is still wet/damp, I noticed it lasts longer this way
- After showeing put your hair in a towel for 5 mins or so while doing ^, then take off towel and put hair oil through it and let it air dry, then blow dry when its almost dry. I noticed my hair wasnt as flat and not as dry when I did this
- When using face scrub use an eletric toothbrush on your face, feels much cleaner
- after ^ get egg whites combined with warm honey and use as a mask
- combining a glittery make up (Smashbox Artificial Light Luminizing Lotion) with regular cover up and mixing it and applying to your face gives a summer glow
- instead of using liquid eye liner, I use black eyeshadow with an eyebrow brush (sophora #15) on top of the eyelid

i have been doing this religiously. only i don't ever wash my face, i just take makeup off with olive oil, and then take it off with cotton balls. then ill cleanse it with pure olive. castor oil mixed with olive is good for greasy skin. don't use coconut though, itll make you break out :( but by just using olive, my skin feels amazing! its also break-out free, haven't gotten a cyst since starting. i hate cleansers that strip your face. its awful for the skin...

mix a tsp. of baking soda with shampoo and as a clarifying treatment. makes it shine , but be sure to moisturize a lot afterwards
beat eggs til frothy and mix with olive oil for hair mask. leave in for 10 minutes with a shower cap and then shampoo
baking soda is also a great facial exfoliant, as its very fine and won't cut it with sharp edges like other exfoliants.

and as somebody else mentioned, honey is great for a face mask!! it makes all the bacteria come out, they actually gorge on the honey and die. gross but true.

Instead of adding water to an almost-empty mascara tube, try sticking the (closed) tube in a cup of very hot water for a few minutes. This also works for liquid eyeliner.

If your liquid eyeliner has ran out, dip the brush in your mascara!

I found out that OPI contains ingredients that apparently moisturize your nail bed and increase nail growth. I don't know if this is true or not, but I do know that I started using OPI polishes and was able to finally kick a lifelong habit of horrendous nailbiting.

1) olive oil for removing eye make up:
My mom told me about it years ago, and mentioned that my 74 year old grandmother has been using it for years(she is an artist and used be a professional opera singer)to remove her liquid lined "stage makeup" eyes to remove everything AND she doesn't wear any glasses. She swears that the olive oil is really good for the eyes.

2) Wearing a light moisturizer with sunscreen daily(min. SPF 30)and re apply often:
I read somewhere that just the walk to the car in the morning to go to work and walking back to the car to drive home after work add up to roughly 24 hours of sun exposure that most people wouldn't even think about. Also, sun coming in through your windows daily also is sun exposure. Tanning and exposure to the sun without protection is known to be associated with skin cancer and pre mature aging of the skin and wrinkles.

3) Sweet almond oil:
Since the severity and presence of stretch marks has to do with genetics, this may not work for everyone. A friend suggested using sweet almond oil for stretch marks during my pregnancy. I started to pour it on my hands and rub like crazy all over my tummy and my thighs after every bath/shower from 3 months preg to birth and I didn't get any stretch marks there at all. My mistake ( I was 17 and didn't know anything lol) was not massaging it into my inner thighs and my hips and I did get some there.

4)Bio oil:
My last pregnancy, I ran out of the oil a few weeks before I had my baby and got some stretch marks on my tummy. I bought 3 of the large bottles(about $20/ea.) and rubbed it in a couple times most days that I could remember(baby brain : P) and they are pretty much gone now.

5)*Not using foundation:
I know alot of ladies swear by it, but some of the girls I know compliment me on how clear and fresh my skin is. I rarely get pimples and I don't get any foundation stains on clothing or pillows.

6)Washing your face with water, using a good face scrub, using a good moisturizer or oil after washing:
I have sensitive combination skin, so maybe this won't work for everyone. I used to use ivory on my face when I was a teen and it irritated my face, but not my hands. I saw a dermatologist who suggested some really expensive face wash, or washing with a warm wet cloth. Scrub the face only every 2 or 3 days. Marcelle has a really good hypo-allergenic one. Rub in some almond, olive, or bio oil afterwards.

7)Shaving with polysporin:
I read about this in Jenna Jamieson's book, although I think she actually suggested Neosporin. If you were desperate you could even use Vaseline.
This is great for shaving your lady parts: wet and clean the area, rinse and then apply a good layer all over. Shave and then apply sparingly after your shower and the next day. You'll get none or almost no ingrowns. Though I would highly suggest using disposable razors and tossing them after each use for this to be most effective.

Another tip for bikini area razor bumps is clear gel deodorant–it keeps the hair follicles from getting clogged with sweat and gunk.

This used to work for me until I stumbled across another remedy, which is going commando at all times. Now I only wear panties on cam and even the skin on my bum is totally blemish-free.

Sometimes after I have done my makeup I lightly spray my face with hairspray (closing my eyes obviously) and my makeup stays put for the night. It really helps when I've done smoky eyes, it stops all the eye shadow from smearing around or running down my face. Sounds crazy but it works.

Really? See I always used the solid stick non scented deoderant on my bikini & goodie box area. Body builder friend let me in on that secret years ago!

Did you still use a daily moisturizer after this regularly as well? Like before you apply your makeup in the morning?

I agree with a lot of these tips though I don't use them as often as I should.

However one I didn't see is to take a mascara brush from an old tube, wash it really, really well, and then coat it in vaseline and coat your lashes with it. Darkens eyelashes a bit and is great for a more awake look during the day without having to use mascara.

Thanks for that-I've got them on my labia often, some of them are permanent I think-just turned into thick lumps of skin (They're tiny but they still make me feel ugly) :(

A little peppermint or cinnamon oil is excellent for making your lips look luscious and plump. It's used in many 'plumping' lip glosses.

If you're too tired or lazy to wash your face at night, keep make-up remover wipes by your bed. One swipe, and you're done!

Clear mascara can be used to tame fly-away hair. My bangs used to drive me crazy sometimes, but not anymore! :)

I recently decided I want to start going the 'no-poo' route in regards to shampoo and conditioner. Partly because I hate having all those chemicals going on my hair, and also partly because good conditioners and shampoos ain't cheap. I've heard a lot of rave reviews about using baking soda as shampoo and vinegar as conditioner, so I thought I'd give it a whirl.
Today I tried out the vinegar as conditioner for the first time. I took a rinsed out honey bottle (with the squeezy cap) and mixed 3 parts vinegar to one part water. When I got in the shower I poured enough on my hair to saturate it like any normal conditioner, let it sit for a few minutes, and rinsed it out.
There's only the faintest pickle smell that apparently goes away completely once your hair is dry, and you can add essential oils to it to combat that. I showered half an hour ago and my hair is already nearly dry - compared to hours later when I use conditioner (because I never blowdry my hair). So far I'm pretty impressed, plus it's WAY WAY WAY cheaper!

DIY bb cream: mix a dab of your regular face moisturizer with a tiny bit of powder mineral foundation. It tends to dry faster than plain moisturizer, so you have to apply it a little quicker to avoid streaks - just as you would do with certain types of regular liquid foundation. Of course, the more foundation you put in, the more coverage you have... basically, you can make anything from a sheer tinted moisturizer to a thick concealer :)
This is great if you don't want to put chemical on your face (assuming your moisturizer is chem-free, that's it) but you don't like powders on your skin.
I love the result, plus it's really cheap. Most mineral foundations are quite inexpensive and you only need minimal amounts, so a sample jar would last forever.

Not a makeup tip but I make sugar wax.
1 cup sugar
2 tbsp lemon juice
2 tbsp water

Now, you combine them in a pot, on medium heat and turn it down when it starts to boil, to low heat and let it simmer until its a nice amber color. Don't let it get darker than amber, and actually I find it to work great if I just let it get to maybe a ginger ale color. Then I pour it into a microwave safe container, wait for it to cool a bit then I use it.

I only use it for pubes because it really doesn't work well on fine hairs (face). Rips any thicker hair out though. Anything left I get with tweezers. Also, water dissolves it so if you get any in your eyebrow, etc just put a wet rag on it and it wipes away. Also leave the sticky pot and any sticky utensils in water for a few hours and it'll dissolve all of it.

Won't work for everyone but if you're very tired and it shows on your eye area, wear the thickest longest lashes possible, ppl will only think it's the shadow from the eyelash. I personally love it but only use at work.

Recently discovered sea salt spray, best thing in the world.

Spray expensive perfume info a no scent lubriderm bottle, life changing.

If you've been crying/ not sleeping get those round makeup tissues for removing makeup, get them damp and put them in the fridge for cold eye compresses. Your eyes will look normal after a few.

Not too original but if your moisturizer has no pump, use a q tip to grab your moisturizer. One swipe is usually the perfect amount for the a single application and you toss it. No bacteria and perfect measurement.

Oh, also, if you use sunless tanners, when you're done applying get a wet rag and whitening toothpaste and scrub off your palms. It gets it all off quickly and you don't have to scrub your palms raw with an exfoliater (which never works anyway)

I think everyone who use oils should see this page, it tells the pore-clogging likelihood, so when you're shopping for oils look at this page to not make a mistake such as using coconut oil on your face.

https://www.beneficialbotanicals.com/facts-figures/comedogenic-rating.html

My beauty tricks,
I use coconut oil for dandruff, I use a thin teeth comb, and apply while shaking off the dead skin cells.
For acne or spots, I use tea tree oil.

^^^
I think what it's comedogenic/clogging and what's not it's really subjective... coconut oil doesn't clog my pores, shea butter does if I use it on a regular basis... aloe vera gel also makes my pores really dirty (I think it's the xanthan gum in it, more than the aloe per se). Mineral oil and petrolatum are the worst things ever imo!

Apple cider vinegar toner for pimples and fine lines. 2 parts water and 1 part vinegar. I swab it on my face every night before bed and then sleep with it on. I used to have bad breakouts and since using the toner it isn't a problem anymore and it helps fade old acne spots. It also happens to work on fine lines. I used to have forehead lines, but somehow the toner has taken care of that too. It stinks, but it works wonders without drying my face into leather like some acne treatments...

I thought I had naturally very very oily skin, but then I stopped using intense cleansers. They dry your skin out too much, and your skin knows. Your skin always knows. And it will compensate by producing a shit ton of oil throughout the day. I use Cetaphil's moisturizing cleanser now and my skin is fine for the first time ever. I see that some of you use olive oil. I don't know if I'm ready for that jelly.

Tonight I tried something new. I used urban decay's eyeshadow primer, not their normal foundation primer (which I tried and didn't like), over the parts of my face that need foundation. My logic was, the purpose of eyeshadow primer is to make powders stay put even with all that oil and movement of your lids, so why wouldn't it work for powder foundation? And it did work. Incredibly well, actually. If this doesn't break me out or anything I will put it into my regular beauty routine. It looks NATURAL even under fluorescent lights, even if I get in really close to the mirror and look for signs of unnatural skin-ness. And it just lasted for twelve hours, eight of which were spent sweating in a strip club.

Don't try it with liquid foundation though. I tried it with liquid instead of powder yesterday, and it was just a mess.

Apply Desitin diaper rash cream after shaving to stop razor bumps on your bikini line. Amazing. And when you're putting black liner on your lower lash line, pack black eyeshadow over it. It makes it last SO much longer. For winged eyeliner, I find it easier to use a (cheap) liquid liner for most of your eyelid, and then use an eyeliner pen to draw the actual wing. So much easier, and there's basically no difference in looks.
