When people post, "Only 10% of guys can handle dating a stripper" I want to point out that people in ANY line of work are lucky if they can find a meaningful LTR with 10% of the people they meet. Dating a stripper strikes me as dating ANYONE in show business, be it an actor, musician etc. I'm a musician and dating me is not so easy. I work odd hours, have my ego spoon fed from time to time and am in a business rife with drug abuse, sex abuse and crooks. Sound familiar? Plus I'm separated from my wife but still married and share a common house with our two teenagers who would not like their father going out on dates, even after the divorce is finalized. Which is why I like SC's in the first place. It's a fun time with a beautiful woman who you don't bring home.
I saw my ATF yesterday (whom I wrote about in the "does she like me" thread). She mentioned a band she likes coming to town and asked if I wanted to see them. My first reaction was to mention that us dating would have several levels of complexity since we're both headed for a divorce, but are still married. She has no children though. I said if she can manage my lifestyle, I'm willing to give it a shot with hers. I'm not the jealous type to begin with...but I've never dated a stripper, so this thread has been VERY helpful to me in getting some insights. I thank everyone who has posted their thoughts!
When reading your post reminded me of two very different things I saw with rock bands. One situation is as normal as can be the other bizarre.
1. I attended school with the daughter of a famous rock musician who was in a popular rock band then went solo. Her parents married before he became famous and when his group became huge she went on tour with them. He took his family on tour and she would talk about this. Her parents are still married. He was the lead singer.
2. I came into contact with another well known rock band through someone I know. Like the previous band mentioned this one guy who was the lead singer is married. However unlike the previous band mentioned his wife didn't often accompany him on tour. He was known for sleeping with women he met, though his wife is a supermodel. I think he's just gross because he has been known to randomly approach women to sleep with. His wife does know I think but still. He met her after he became famous.
Both cases obviously are as different as day or night but both have disadvantages. In the first case he made his family a priority, which is why he is still happily married and his kids are functional. In the second case it seems like history is repeating itself.
My point being that not many women can handle those in the entertainment industry because it can be difficult just like stripping. You deal with women throwing themselves at the husband (like stripping)and even accept it because you know your husband is faithful to you (like the first case)or accept he is sleeping with other women (like the second case). I am a far bigger fan of the second band than the first but respect the first lead singer far more than the second one because of this.
