Daisy-
That's a good point. A couple weeks back for about 3 weeks, I was working 4 shifts a week and had pole dance classes 2 days a week. One of those days, i had classes back to back. I had developed (after the end of the 2nd week) minor injuries and by the end of the 3rd week, I saw a chiropractor and got a massage in the same week! I've taken a break from classes and feel so much better. I have a pole at home, so I can use it at my own pace and work on the tricks I want to work on, instead of getting new things thrown at me. (I love a challenge, but I gotta listen to my body).
I started taking calcium religiously when i was 25 or so. I suggest starting now as you start losing bones mass in your 20's. I've really benefitted from it. Glycosamine is a must. I didn't start taking it until 9 years ago. I've never had bad knees or major back problems. Don't forget to take them with vitamin D.
This will help with feeling worn out and give you the longevity to travel. I traveled a bit as well. So much fun!
I really need to start taking better care of my body because I think a lot of me hurting so bad is neglecting my body by not taking vitamins and not eating a healthy diet plus I drink like a fish. As much as I dance with me aging I'm sure that contributes to me hurting but if I want to continue even into my 30's, I need to start like yesterday on taking supplements and eating right.

I'm 27 but I look younger. I think it's because I'm a vampire. I never go out in the sun unless I wear SPF 110 sunblock on my face even in the winter. I put cold cream on my face when I sleep, use moisturizer and sleep with an eyemask and earplugs.
Shift do a search there's a million of these threads.....I'm 43 get guessed 23-26 every night my gf I travel with is 51 we are usually the top 10 % of the hottest girls where we travel and top earners. I put up a pic o her and I in another thread. Anyways when you still look and feel better than 80% of the girls at any given club you work than who's to say when? I can still work 5-6 days in a row and I sold more suites than any girl most nights since I've been here so......I'll keep on truckin!
I wanna see!!

i feel you! i started dancing two months before i graduated with my BA, had "regular" jobs as well....when people assume i'm IN college and i say i graduated they look so disappointed or something, it's so weird.
I hate this too. I love how they look so excited asking dancers if they're college girls, and when I tell them I already went to college they look disappointed. Why?! I guess next time I'd tell them I'm a super senior or I'm back for my second degree to see if they would look less disappointed.

Ahh! I'm sideways. Oh well. The point: I look good enough that I haven't been boo'd off stage and told to retire. I feel good. To all you youngin's: if you want to have a long career in this industry you can. That is if the strip club doesn't become obsolete in the future;-(

^F n wow..53..no way! I have lost some of my enthusiasm for the job...This area is really depressing and some parts of my life have been a drag. I am currently working to improve the negatives n my life but its just gonna take some times and until then I guess I may have some rough days...Im not naturally high energy whatsoever and am def not a fitness buff...To those of u who r I think its wonderful and provides u with many years n the business....And I def dont feel hot amongst the young girls n their twenties...The only girls who look good over 30 starve themselves around here...I really dont like this position Im in but I really dont have anyone to blame..just me. The college degree I have will only bring me a low paying entry level job... What to do..Guess I got to figure it out on my own..

U and Dorien look fucking phenomenal! And no U dont look like jenna... For me personally, like I mentioned already I think I am struggling at work moreso bc Im going thro alot of personal stress right now..Im trying to be strong and leave a very unhealthy situation that has been making me unhappy for quite some time..Its weighing on me heavily and when Im at work I dont feel up to me job whatsoever..Thats why I have been working less..But bc money has been so bad in the clubs around here u cant cut down to one to two nights a week and still make it...I do about 4 right now. Being strong and doing the right thing and going against ur own heart to better ur life is hard..Its depressing, hence my weight gain...I know that once I get past "letting go" I will be ok..I just suck ass at letting go..But here I am trying to anyways..Thank u all for chiming in here on my post..I really do appreciate it. It is especially nice to see women in their 40s and 50s still kicking ass at dancing...To those of u n ur 40s and 50s, do u ever honestly feel 'too old' around girls 10, or 20 years younger? or does it not bother u so much?

Thanks:-) I don't really look at it as working out to keep my weight down. I do it more so I can keep my weight up (so I won't get saggy) and also, so I won't break myself while working, lol. I do try to eat balanced but ironically, I got food poisoning off and on all last week from organic quinoa! WTF?!! Sugar was the only thing that would make my stomach feel better. So, coffee cake and Ben & Jerry's have been on my menu for the last few days. I know I can be borderline diabetic so I have to watch the sugar:-(

I quit at 45 and honestly I could have kept going longer. I went out doing very well with a ton of faithful regs.
I never felt funny around younger girls, my husband and most of my friends are considerably younger anyway. In my social life no one guesses my age either.
I DO look much younger in the face and body, it's genetic everyone in my family does.
OP I think maybe it's where you work, there are defiantly places that don't like older girls but in my experience it hasn't been many. Also as you know when you don't feel good about yourself it projects to the customers too. I think travelling would do you wonders.:)

To answer your question Shift_6x, I could write volumes, but I will try to shorten it.
1. Started dancing at 23 in a nude club. It was like being in the girl scouts but naked w/ some drugs & alcohol. I was more intimidated by the older dancers then. I felt chubby, but not old.
2. At 25, I started to feel conflicted about what I should be doing with my life & was worried about getting old, but didn't feel old.
3. At 31, I was doing well for myself as an actress, I was getting auditions for teenage roles to early 20's. However, everybody in the local clubs knew me for a while. They had an idea of how old I was and would play head games, yet OTC, I knew I had it going on. I still danced off and on, but was not making it a priority. I was really busy at this time in my life. Sometimes I would get so tired at work. The younger ones didn't. I was jealous of their energy level more than anything else. Oh, and the ones who had naturally straight, long hair. I HATED my curly hair for years! Now I wouldn't trade it for anything. (And it hides stray grays very easily::)
4. At 35, I needed serious surgery, (not cosmetic). This involved getting a small version of a c-section scar. As it was healing, the lower part of my bikini line slightly bulged over the scar. I had not danced nude since age 25, but this bothered me. It didn't make me feel old, but I felt unattractive. I quit dancing for two years.
5. At 37, I got an offer to work in a cool club in Cabo San Lucas. People thought I was mid-twenties, the girls that I was cool and a good dancer and I got a job on a Mexican commercial. I felt good about myself. However, when I got back to the states, I stopped dancing for quite a while. I had a job I really liked. The only dancers who intimidated me where these beautiful sisters from Guadalajara.
6. At 41, a friend of mine was a performance artist. She did a one woman show that involved a little bit of pole dancing. She was a little older than me. She was still dancing. I had no idea! So a fire was lit under my ass and I thought if she can do it, I can. I was so nervous about auditioning. So many years had passed. I felt I had to get new music to audition to because mine was dated, I had to ask my friend what she wore,et. I went to this tiny topless dive in Nor Cali. It was owned by a Mexican man. He really liked me and I was hired. There was a big mix of girls here. Older ones, younger ones. The older ones, were actually hotter than the younger ones. They could afford to take care of themselves and get great PS. This was also the first time I had ever danced in platforms (boots). There was only one dancer there who automatically asked who old I was, but she was older too. She was also smokin hot. She was the only one who made me feel inadequate. Oh and one impossibly pretty, young blond dancer. She was nice though. I hated dancing after her:-( I use to have to work hard to lose weight, so I would be intimidated by really skinny dancers. Now it's funny because I AM the skinny dancer at most clubs I work in. I was shocked to hear from custies there that apparently there were younger dancers who were afraid I was going to steal their regulars! I felt oddly complimented and confused. I'm such a bad hustler:-(
6. This brings me up to the present. I work in LA now and have worked in several clubs all over LA county. I'm not that intimidated by younger dancers. Perhaps working in clubs that are 21 plus helps. Kim Kardashian came up a few years ago and all of a sudden, every other dancer I know has big thighs and booty. I tried to grow one, but it didn't work:-( So, in a wide sea of big legs & bootys; I'm one of the only tiny, fit dancers in the clubs where I work. So body wise; no I'm not intimidated. As far as my face goes: yes, sometimes I notice the age difference. When my botox starts wearing off, I get guessed to be mid-to late thirties, but when I fix it all up I've been guessed as young as 23. I really have to be on top of it. If I'm not, then yeah, I am envious of the younger ones. Also, because I 've been athletic all my life, my hands have been showing it. I'm not veiny, but my hands are starting to get that way. I wear bracelets and rings, lol!
But I think it comes down to: Are you still making the $$ & have your been boo'd off the stage. This hasn't happened. And also how content you are to be there? This is important. A custie I hadn't seen in a while paid me a lovely compliment and said"I still have that bright eyed, healthy look". He said some of the dancers get a vacant look in their eyes when they burn out. Since the clubs I work in have a lot of stage time, I do have to ration my energy. I have a tendency to do intense pole shows. I get carried away. I have to learn to save those for a bigger audience and not burn myself out like that.
(Shit! I did write volumes. I do hope you find a way to be happier at your job).

I get carried away when writing too sometimes. I saw in another thread, a dancer suggest that you travel to an area a bit further to seek out other club work. I did that recently. It's the same distance as the other clubs I work, just the other directions. It turns out to be a positive move. There is $$, even though my manager is not the nicest. Change can be a good thing.

Im 30 and I personally plan on looking hotter by 40. I def look better than I did at 20 so I dont see why I cant improve by 40. Good health, hard work and a few helping hands from the PS office and I plan to be a hot bitch for many years to come. But I wanna quit around 35 just because mentally I cannot handle it. I think when you should quit is before your spirit gets broken. Im already pretty jaded about a lot of things I wish I wasnt.
Yea I feel u on that. I am jaded too unfortunately...I had been thinking 40 was my cut off age for the max Id dance but realistically 35 may be better for me...
Someone mentioned traveling earlier and sadly the only stripclubs outside of the area are #1 a topless bar about 60 or so miles away where they actually do $1 table dances off and on throughout the night which Im not down with and the other clubs are about 80 miles away..With gas prices that just shot up about 20 cents in a week or two Idk that traveling is realistic.

LOL! Thanks. I've been taking intense pole classes for 3 years and I keep challenging myself. I think that also has something to do with it. So, I could stop doing what I'm really into and get stuff put in my hands. I think I'll stick with having the hands of a very lean, athletic and yes, mature woman.

You are making me think about this and making me think many things. Yes I am good looking for my age, but would I make money dancing still? Good question and to be honest probably not as much as I did. Oh sure I could find a club in a heart beat that would hire me (and have had offers)but to think I can compete with younger dancers seems odd. I'm not interested in returning to clubs as I believe in my heart I am too old (I have arthritis and am not as thin as I used to be). People who meet me after many years tell me I look the same and I generally do but I am not as young.
I don't know if this makes sense but I often wondered this years earlier.
I am 30 and went back to dancing recently. I made as much money as the younger girls and customers couldn't tell my age. I think I did well because I had experience as a dancer so I was able to know how to connect with customers and I had developed an intution of when a customer wasn't going to spend money and I should move on. Now that said, my body could not handle the wear and tear of stripping again even though I do very few moves on the stage. My knees started hurting every day even when I wasn't working and I went to a doctor and got diagnosed with osteoarthritis in both of my knees. Stripping is so hard on the body if it is done for several years. By the way, other than the arthritis I am a thin and healthy 30 year old. IMHO sometimes the pain and damage you are doing to your body is not worth the extra money. If other dancers are dealing with arthritis I would love to hear from them and we can share information and support each other.

Why should there be a magical number? In my instance I LOVE my job, I can still walk in any club in the U.S. and get hired, hell I've taken younger girls with me to manhattan, myrtle bch and denver who couldn't get hired were I took them( girls 24-25) and again I sold 3 hours in vip. The guy grabbed me said your thhottest girl here and I wanna max this card out. For me if I'm still getting hired at top clubs and still a top earner and my body can take it I will probably do it a few more years. My rental properties pretty much pay me a nice income and I don't have to do this full time I do it around 7 -8 months a year. Pm me though if you want some suggestions. As I said my 50 year old gf is doing well in certain oil areas and small booking places( 800-1200 a shit) let me know.

i dont think there should be an age limit- its however you feel. however, if youre the train wreck type of stripper- non professional, doing extras, getting wasted every night, etc then youre retirement should be earlier than others. its not attractive when older strippers still party like theyre 20. but if you carry yourself well, can hold a conversation, classy, physically fit, and you still love what you do for a living, theres no reason to quit just because youre older. few older ladies at my club bank. they're quiet, attractive, dont get wasted etc and theres a few older ladies at my club who look like they use to be smoking hot, getting wasted and being rowdy.

OP I think maybe it's where you work, there are defiantly places that don't like older girls but in my experience it hasn't been many. Also as you know when you don't feel good about yourself it projects to the customers too. I think travelling would do you wonders.:)
Right now Im going through a hell of a difficult time..I shut down alot and dont want to be social and friendly..I know I dont usually look happy bc of what Im going through..It would be tough for anyone if I explained it all but I dont feel like opening up at the moment. When u dont feel happy and are beyond faking it thats what is projecting to customers sometimes...That isnt helping me..What Ive experienced in life thus far is that this is just how it f n is sometimes...People rnt going to always be drawn to u when ur going through a bad time, and until u pull through it and regroup ur gonna struggle. Especially at this job when they expect all siles and happy moods which isnt even me when Im not going through shit..I tend to keep to myself and I know others misunderstand that all the damn time. People just think ur crazy and or a bitch..Its unfortunate. Especially when u r just guarding urself bc ur upset..I tend to not be much of a fake person...I am more genuine nad when Im not happy I dont fake like I am very well..

U r so sweet to take the time to reach out, thank u..Bc as u said u LOVE ur job thats why u do well..I am not loving this job...people pick up on that..Until I can/if I ever regain some zest for this job I will prolly be in this boat...

Hey everyone :)
If you could pick a magic number that you feel should be the cut off age for dancing what would it be? I am curious to get everyone's viewpoints and opinions just so that I may compare it to my own. I know this has been done before but I am looking for an updated post of ur opinions :). I personally feel that the cut off should be somewhere around 40 for stage dancing...I plan on quitting before then though,,Just saying 40 is def the max Id stretch it to given that the girl is still in decent shape..
I only STARTED dancing when I was 27 & didn't start doing porn till I was 40 and that was after I removed my implants & there is certainly no shortage of work on either respects!
There is a market for everything, including a nice dirty overgrown growler, I'm pleased to report!
Girls could retire when they deem fit; if that is for external reasons forcing their decision somewhat, so be it, otherwise, I'll continue to be a kinkydirtygranny at this rate as I have no plans whatsoever to quit any time in the next 10 or even 20 years, all going well
