I'm on the road travel camming this summer too.

I packed up the dog and two cats and have hit the road escaping the damn Vegas heat. I'll post my adventure here. So far so good. I've done this a lot so I know how it works. I'm in Utah right now outside salt lake City. Always wanted to see it but after a few weeks I've seen it all. Got a nice place with fast internet. I always ask to plug in the Ethernet cable and never had any problem. I always ask how fast internet is before booking. I have always wanted to do a cross country trip so I want to check out Charlotte NC and maybe Boston. By fall I want to be settled and get an apartment again. I love Vegas but am open to a new city. So for now, the zoo and I are road warriors and seeing the USA. I'll post pics of my cam setups. I don't travel light either!

Has anybody used CelloMobile's international wifi rental program? It's unlimited but not sure how good it is.

Does the cam site see that you have a different IP address and adjust your percentage based on what country you are in?

If you're talking about Streamate, no. This is usually fixed based on your country of residence based on your tax info or ID card.

Broadcasting from a different country can trigger security issues where they will suspend the account, but if you let support know you're travelling you should be ok.

My living situation is getting difficult and I would like to start traveling. I heard Marriott have good internet and I want to know if camming from a hotel is still possible? I’m worried if the hotel would see I’m on an adult website or would block the website. Also which hotels have the best connection for this? I know there’s Airbnb also but right now I’m just looking for something short term like one night here one night there type of thing.

I usually do airbnb and just checked out of Meriott today. The best upload speed I could get was around 3 and customers complained about freezing 3x. I was also near the routers and had one in my room. I highly suggest airbnb. My upload today is 78! Vs 2.86. If not at least get a room on the 1st-2nd floor where you'll get 5up.

Did you use a a travel router with Ethernet connection or the public WiFi in the room? I ordered a travel router since I travel a lot anyways and I always need good internet. I’ve never used one before so I’m hoping it will make a difference

Used hotel Wi-Fi, they didn't have a working Ethernet port freed up so I was on Wi-Fi. Still, despite the freezes I made around $50 on SM in an hour, last hour of cutoff so you might be okay. The travel router sounds li ke a great idea. I just rented this gorgeous place and it was spacious but has the shitiest net, no router in the apt, and the whole building shared the Wi-Fi. ><

51740 I just watched a review on this from a YouTuber that I follow. ( Jailbreak Overlander). Amazon sells them. Not sure about the upload speeds. But, it is great for areas that normally don't have WiFi. It's called Global Me. Buy the device, and then pay as you go data packages.

So I'm visiting my mom at her place in southern California. I'll be here for about 3 weeks. She lives in a nice rv park . She has a small Casita I get to myself and she is in the trailer. She has great internet so I can cam it's just the logistics of it. I told her I need privacy to work from 7pm to 3 am and she is like..oh ok. She is nosy so I'll keep it quiet and sneak off for Indy shows. I don't trust her at all and won't tell her about my camming. It's just for 3 weeks....gotta love family!! Ugh

Anyone have any recommendations for these as well as budget friendly data hot spot plans that you've used for camming? I'm in the market for one since my cell phone plan won't offer enough data for my needs. I'm also not very tech savvy so any help is greatly appreciated, Thanks :)

Your math is flawed. kbps is kiloBITS per second, not kiloBYTES per second. A kilobyte is 8 kilobits. So, to redo the math here:

256kbps / 8 = 32 kilobytes per second
5GB = 1,024 * 5 = 5120MB * 1024 = 5,242,880KB / 32 = 163840 seconds / 60 = 2,730 minutes ~ 45 hours at 256kbps quality. Although personally the lowest quality I'd go is about triple that lol

Let's do it at the recommended 800kbps:
800KBps / 8 = 100 kilobytes per second
5,242,880KB / 100 = 52428.8 seconds / 60 ~ 873.8 minutes ~ 14.5 hours at 800kbps. Should still be worth it.

This is so confusing to me LOL yikes
So my metro plan is only gonna give me 15 GB hotspot data for 1 month, so I'm def gonna use at least min 1GB every hour if I stream on SM using the SMconnect. Does anyone have any advice or facts on how much data I'm gonna need for at least 5-6 hrs of streaming on a site? Thanks!

Also if anyone knows how fast the upload speed is for metropcs hotspot that'd be very helpful :)

How did you do this wirelessly without eating up a data plan? How many hours a month did you cam for?

Bumping this! Thoughts?

I have didn't use SMC though, its wasn't a thing then I was using OBS. Here's the post I made in the Travel Camming:Hotel, AirBnB & Hotspots (http://https://www.stripperweb.com/forum/showthread.php?178065-Travel-Camming-Hotel-AirBnB-amp-Hotspots) a while ago.

I had to use my cellphone which is through At&t as a hotspot which gave me an excellent connection. The only problem I faced was that the phone got hot and I ran out of data. So here's my suggestion for anyone who's going to be staying in a hotel or even at an Airbnb.....if you have a pre-paid cell get the unlimited data plan even its only for the time you're staying at the hotel/Airbnb and use the hotspot feature to connect your computer to your phone. I think At&t might even have a live streaming feature because about a week after I used my phone to stream I kept getting a text from At&t about live streaming but I didn't really read it. Anyways as long as you have 4g and at least 3-4 bars you should have a far better connect through your cell than the hotel internet.

Smc should work absolutely fine, it will actually work better than OBS because its lite weight due to it being strictly browser based.

I'm hoping metro pcs will run fine with it. I really appreciate your feedback on this ;) I heard back from another girl pal that bought the hotspot device thing & it wasn't fast enough she told me so looks like my cell data will have to do for now.

^^^In my experience Metro/Tmobile sucks ass, they don't have enough towers and their service isn't strong enough. That's the exact reason why I switched to At&t prepaid. However when you try Metro at least you will know whether it works well enough for streaming or not and whether or not you should switch services (if your main goal is to be able to stream whenever and wherever you want).

I'm back at the hotel until Tues & sadly I've discovered last night that my wifi here is really spotty and basically it won't let me stream to cam. It keeps kicking me off & my phone doesn't have a hot spot bc it isn't included in the plan I have.

I have my pso sites on but am doubtful I'll be able to do phone w/ cam calls bc of the stupid wifi :(
I was hoping to make back the $200 I paid for the week but not at this rate.
Any tips or advice on getting better wifi somehow? I have metro pcs for my phone & am wondering if anyone has ever used their hot spot data for camming & if so was it decent?
Thanks :)

Yes. On SM it dropped my placement badly, but I still made some money.

Was very happy though when I had my high speed internet back. It's so much better for placement and making $ but you do what you can with what you have.

Yes im using it now & ive made some $ off it bc literally have to choose wisely when to strwam coz i only get 15 gb of data for hot spot. Its a great connection but fuck i hate having to literally time it. I use hotel wifi for texting sites when its working. Im checking out of here in a few days anyway & gonna try a diff hotel that had decent wifi in the past when i stayed there.

From what I've experienced, hotels have bad - mediocre wifi.. usually they have an upgraded version for more $.

At the one place I stayed, their wifi was open, I had $ charged on my card.
& it dropped all the time

It may be helpful to ask the host on airb&b what kind of wifi they use and what their upload rate is before booking.
The guys I rented my apt too literally checked the internet speed before signing their 3 month contract as they are WFH and coding/working on a popular video game. I said oh sweetheart, I know all about that as I work online, I have the most expensive internet and highest upload speed. I didn't elaborate further though haha. I would completely avoid hotels, though. Also, 2nd world countries with low cost of living is the move right now.

I'm at a hotel right now so I'll give my two cents. Buy the upgraded wifi and do a speedtest in different areas of the room.
Free wifi: 1.96 down / .61 up
Paid wifi in living room area 14.97 down / 3.88 up
Paid wifi in bedroom 6.23 down / 3.05 up
Paid wifi in dressing area next to bathroom 14.64 down / 4.25 up

I agree about paying more for the hotel's upgraded Wi-Fi, if possible. That's what I did when I was temporarily living in an Extended Stay hotel last year. Plus I was on the first floor, so closer to the modem, which is good. When I stayed at cheap motels like Super 8, the Wi-Fi was so bad that I couldn't cam. I'm not sure if they had an upgraded Wi-Fi option too that I didn't know about? But the regular Wi-Fi there SUCKED. Extended Stay hotel's upgraded Wi-Fi was cool for me.

Do your research ladies. I'm currently finishing up a long stay in a boutique hotel here in London and it's very high speed and I've been able to cam, phone, and sext with zero issues, all using wifi/voip was mostly clear for calls, too.

I did have a hotel I stayed at previously with crap wifi but using their higher end branches fixed that, lol. It's really just touch and go. Some places will have good wifi, other times you'll struggle which is why it's best to remain prepared. I would still like to purchase a portable mobile wifi router. I also agree to google, read reviews, ask/message/email hotel staff, airbnb hosts about speeds before your arrival.

Also asking for a room closest to the router works as well. I've been mainly lucky. Gotten great speeds for most places, included poorer countries surprisingly.

Tell me about it. It's why I tip so much, there. I just got back from a quick dinner with a friend. 15GBP/$20. Went to the store and purchased diet coke, water, and chocolate/candy. 9GBP/$14 >< I normally spend 30GBP/$45 daily on 1 meal. I'm trying to lose more weight so I'll also have more money but I would've paid $10 in the balkans for that meal or less (kabob), and $4-5 max for a water, coke, and a piece of candy, lol. Also, they love importing popular American treats so they finally got their hands on Twinkies, hot cheetohs, and oreos so the guy sells them at 9.99GBP. $13 for a bag of hot cheetohs I've paid a few times, lol. I also imported a box of them to the balkans and cost me a fortune, lol.

Honestly when I have called & asked certain hotels their wifi speeds I got either hung up on or they flat out told me no we don't give out that kind of info. Airbnbs tell me when I ask but why wouldn't hotels want you to know that? Some of the ones I've stayed at have been soooo rude about it.

Yep. Just use the hotel search. When you're testing the speeds inside the hotel, they let you leave a review for it as they calculate your speed, and people have done that and created reviews/a database. I just look up the hotels I'm thinking of staying in and if its too low or I see another nearby with better wifi, I book there instead. I'm guessing way too many cammodels and remote workers got fed up. Hahah.

I was reading the fine print on a T-Mobile website. It stated data on Metro by T-Mobile would not have priority over branded T-Mobile line; something to think about, could have had lower end data speeds due to this.

Good idea to call in advance about their wifi. I like the ones who give free wifi if you are a part of their members program. I call as well asking to do the earliest check in/late check out too. Doesn't hurt to ask.

Take a back up wifi mobile router. And a 50ft ethernet chord. Thank me later. I was getting 2.5-5gz of spotty wifi because my house has 4 floors and is made of cement. I paid for 300/30 and got 30/1.3 or so. The ethernet saved my butt. 300/30 again for $24 a month fiber. I wish they would've asked me which floor they wanted it in so now I'm going to have to have them come back to move my router into my living/office floor. It's so complicated I can't just move it myself, lol.
