At any store that sells electronics plus your walmart, etc. If anything it will plug in directly to the router if it's weak you'll get a direct connection. Mini mobile wireless routers can be bought online, or most cellular shops. They also have wifi travel routers on amazon that I hear works great if you have a weak cignal or basement apartment.

Does anyone have recommendations for travel camming with a hotspot (2021)? I’m sure things have improved since a few years ago. Are there any good ones that work overseas too? (Out of USA)

You can try any prepaid carrier (vodaphone ,Three, etc) with high speeds and tether it from your mobile wifi hotspot. Works just as great and even better if its an unlimited plan. I find several here in Europe and the UK to be at least 20-30 upload speeds and I stream clearly without any issues from my laptop. I pay $15 monthly for it.

Has anyone ever tried stealth camming from a female only hostel?

I am not sure what stealth camming is, but I did cam at 2 different hostels in Ireland.

Are you talking about using VPN, (virtual private network)?

I'm going to Google Hotspot, I have wired wifi where live, but..

Sorry you experienced that. I use https://www.hotelwifitest.com/ it lets me know the speed before booking.

Ooh, THANK YOU so much, for this, I bumped :)

Take a back up wifi mobile router. And a 50ft ethernet chord. Thank me later. I was getting 2.5-5gz of spotty wifi because my house has 4 floors and is made of cement. I paid for 300/30 and got 30/1.3 or so. The ethernet saved my butt. 300/30 again for $24 a month fiber. I wish they would've asked me which floor they wanted it in so now I'm going to have to have them come back to move my router into my living/office floor. It's so complicated I can't just move it myself, lol.

I'm sorry, I had to bump this so it's on the same page!

Where I live, I have a 50+ foot ethernet cable, plugged into our modem, I get them on ebay, like 8.95 (free shipping) for I think it's 75'?
There could very well come a time where I'd have to head to an extended stay, hotel, I like airbnb (recently refreshed my acct, so hard here to get the decent ones tho!)

Does anyone know the minimum uploads for decent indie shows? I'm getting anywhere from 1.5-5mbps on hotel wifi depending on if I use a VPN or not. I have a Skype regular who was very sweet and tolerant of some choppiness. Not sure I trust this for anyone else.

And is there better software for indie shows? I feel like Skype is probably one of the clunkier ones. Thanks in advance.

I'd think 1.5-5 would be fine, indy sessions require very little. Last summer I did Skype sessions by tethering my phone with no complaints. I just tested the speed while tethered (although half a year later and in a different location, so I can't say if it's exactly the same) and got about 0.5 Mbps upload. So 1.5-5 Mbps should be more than fine. If there was choppiness I'm not sure it would have been because of that. Or I could have been choppy and my clients just didn't mention it. I would just be upfront that you're working from hotel wifi so they understand what they're getting. I would absolutely use a VPN though, hotel wifi isn't secure at all. I didn't use one while camming from a hotel and though it worked fine, a while later I got sign in alerts from the city the hotel was in. You can also use Discord, but the problem is that almost all guys interested in indy sessions already have Skype, but not all of them already have Discord. That, and Skype has a built-in timer. With Discord you have to either watch the clock or set your own. But if you have call quality issues with Skype it'd be worth trying Discord instead.

That's reassuring, thanks!

Just in case anyone needs extra hotspot data in a pinch (the most my plan gives me is 15gb a month), the app PdaNet+ is letting me tether to my phone without it counting against my hotspot limit. I can see it being useful if I were on the road long term.

So, is it better to use a phone, or get a hot spot?

xxxGothBarbie

My phone provider only gives me 15 gb for the month of Hotspot data which is fine for indy stuff but streaming seems to eat it up faster. I think some gals use their phones for streaming on sm & maybe other sites but not sure how fast it'd be compared to an eternity connection. If I get desperate enough I may just try streaming from my phone if I'm in a hotel with crappy wifi.

I think it depends on how often you travel and for how long. I'm planning on getting a mobile hotspot if I stay on the road. T-mobile has one that looks good. This review says they got 97mbps with a mid-band connectivity (meaning average?). https://www.pcmag.com/reviews/t-mobile-inseego-5g-mifi-m2000

I've heard Verizon has a fast one too.

In the city I'm staying in right now the hotel I'm in has decent wifi. Not nuclear war fast but enough to get a non pixelated show. I'm getting about 9 download and 4-6mb upload. My SM bitrate is in the yellow/greens and it can be on multiple sites at one time. I'm in the extended stay hotel called SONESTA SUITES. I did drive by and asked the front desk if I could do a quick speed test on my phone and they gave me the password and it was good so I booked 4 nights. I am looking to move to this area so it works for now. It's about $100 per night so I'm camming my ass off to make it worth the stay and so far so good. Just putting my two cents in

Edit:* ^I thought this was about the hotspots, its to check out hotel wifi.
Also see post below this one. :)

Eh, for some reason, those companies (not necessarily always the companies, but the wifi Hotspot themselves ) are up & gone, as soon as they come out??

Once I was set to buy a Verizon Hotspot, (for some reason I couldn't buy it directly from the actual store itself ::)) from Best buy, it had all rave reviews then it got suddenly discontinued? ::)

I had another, Karma, & that was the company name too, had to go to better business bureau about getting my $ back, Idk if they're even still around

They are nice. At least mine is. They allow pets but charge for it. I'm paying $75 a night plus the pet fee so pretty good if you have no pets. I'm going to stay another 3 more nights. I found a nice lux studio with a nice den/office (with a door to keep pets out while I cam!) and it's got a 2 month free rent deal going on and only $450 to move in! I'll take that deal! Good luck on the hotel looking...

i'm not familiar with any of these companies being in the US (Three [the one I picked up bc they were the most clear about the unlimited and live streaming friendly], EE, nor vodaphone)

i'm also not too familiar with the prepaid companies in the US...maybe t-mobile has something? i haven't lived in the US for almost 15 years now and don't cam while i'm stateside on holiday either. wish i could be of more help

I will be selling my house in a year or so and am very strongly considering going nomad. Living in an RV and traveling. I'm not getting any younger and I want to see stuff before I shuffle my happy ass off of this mortal coil.

I'm working on setting up a more vanilla income stream for this but camming is becoming lucrative for me again, and I would hate to lose that revenue stream. I will still need to eat, pay for gas/RV parks/insurance and activities, etc. There are RV/Van Life vids all over YouTube of course, but I am really curious about the logistics of camming while going nomad.

I've figured out internet while traveling but I guess I'm most concerned about where to park my rig on work days. RV parks are pretty crowded and I wouldn't want anyone to hear what I am doing and/or have to deal with friendly/nosy neighbors. If I boondock I run the risk of being disturbed by other campers/forest service/police and will need to run a generator and/or have a few Jackery boxes lined up and charged to run the laptop, camera and lighting.

I guess the biggest reason for this post is to see if there are other models doing this and to see what their experiences have been. There was a model on Chaturbate that was doing it but I can never seem to catch her online and I can't remember her username.

Thanks!

I don't do RVs but I travel/expat cam full time since 2018 and it's one of the best decisions I've ever made. I slow travel by choosing an anchor country and live and travel out of it. Good luck and feel free to reach out if you have questions. There's also a few travel cam threads in the search bar.

Hi y’all, I’ve been wanting to get an Airbnb occasionally to make some content but I was wondering, do y’all ask for permission/pay a permit to video or photograph in the Airbnb?

I wouldn't, just turn location off, just don't film in front of any unique thing that could be identified, which they probably won't have anyway.

Please don't ask for permission or tell them what you'll use the space for. They will not rent it to you. Just get a AirnB that you can have the whole place to yourself and do your business.

It's no difference than renting an apartment. You wouldn't tell the the office you do adult work from home.

Unless the listing states no video recording in the ad, what you do is private and should stay private.
