Ok, I get it. It's made of gold and worth a lot of money but still..it's a freakin' toilet where peoples' bare asses have sat at and..yeah. This cracked me up: https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2019/09/14/crapper-caper-someone-steals-solid-gold-toilet-once-offered-trump-white-house-british-palace/
I can imagine a bunch of weird thieves with special, secret warehouses full of fancy, expensive toilets telling whatever buyer,"Psst, hey, I have a golden toilet available for $2 million. Interested?"

‘Victim’ of circumstances, I suppose.
Not surprisingly, I found out that I will again be driving the tractor for this year’s haunted hayride/haunted house. Which, after the disaster from my first year at it, has been my burden since. My first year, I was in the house and looking forward to scaring the kiddos. And they do a really good job of it, too. Except the ones who were students or riders at the equestrian center recognized me and instead of being scared, they ran to me and clung to me.
I can’t scare the churrins when I’m actually trying to. But adults when I’m not? Whole different story there. I swear, you make one necrophilia joke, and everyone loses their fucking head.

My sister said I can't be Pocahontas no matter how long my hair is (the hair was my argument) because it's insensitive and appropriation. So now I'm mad and will probably just be something lame like Number 5 from Kids Next Door.

That "appropriation" is a bunch of nonsense. No one has a patent, trademark or copyright on elements of a particular culture. Remember the US is supposed to be the melting pot of cultures. Are we supposed to avoid Pizza, TexMex, kung pao chicken, sauerkraut?

When Disney producers sought advice about how to portray the cartoon version of the flesh-and-blood Pocahontas, anthropologist Helen Rountree figured they wouldn’t be interested in what she had to say.
“For starters, Pocahontas was naked and bald when she first encountered John Smith. You wouldn’t want to put that in your film, would you?” Rountree asked Disney three years ago, when the project was still on the drawing board.
In Pocahontas’ day, pre-pubescent girls of her tribe generally had shaved heads and went about unclothed. One of the few historically reliable accounts of Pocahontas describes her turning stark-naked cartwheels around the settlers’ stockade, provoking the men inside.

I'm never entirely sure of a LOT of historical accounts.
Side note- Social Justice Warrior culture and political correctness has really thrown a wrench in how we discuss the colonization of the Americas. It's fair enough to say that there were misunderstandings and mis-steps on both sides.
Side note- the United States was mapped in part due to the efforts of Sacajawea, a wife and mother/Native American scout.

Sacagawea, the daughter of a Shoshone chief, was born circa 1788 in Lemhi County, Idaho. At around age 12, she was captured by an enemy tribe and sold to a French-Canadian trapper who made her his wife. In November 1804, she was invited to join the Lewis and Clark expedition as a Shoshone interpreter. After leaving the expedition, she died at Fort Manuel in what is now Kenel, South Dakota, circa 1812.

I read up on what I could about her later years after the expedition. She really didn't get proper recognition for her contributions to mapping early America.

Every week I get an email about what week of pregnancy I am in and comparing the baby to a fruit, for some reason. This week it's a banana. At the bottom of the email they put random facts and this was there: The penis of a rhinoceros is 2 feet long. The penis of a mosquito is a hundredth of an inch long. :rotfl: I think I'm going to start using mosquito dick as an insult to rude cam customers.

I had bought a Star Trek costume but I grew too big for it now because of my belly. My kid thinks it would be funny if I dressed up as a mermaid with the bikini top and my belly hanging out. I don't think that would go over well, lol. Besides it's usually cold and rainy or snows on Halloween here.

2 Random but very important things I want to put here now that North America is heading into Fall weather and the oncoming holiday season-
* Homeless shelters can always use your donations of funds, hygiene products, good condition boots and assorted personal goods that homeless people can use (backpacks, bedrolls, sleeping bags, lighters.) There are several online sites with more specific info about how to donate, where and what might be in demand in your area.
* If you're considering sending gifts via giftcard, you might want to transfer the funds or gift card electronically (it's easy to via Amazon or a similar online sales site.) Unfortunately holidays cards can be opened before they reach their destination and gift cards can get stolen.

Can anyone recommend an app? Or device that will stop a dog/ dogs from barking?
Obviously I've seen devices advertised. But which one actually works?
My neighbors, who I share a common wall, and adjacent front door with. Let their dogs sit at their open door and bark through the screen.
All day/ every day. Into the night.
The dogs also go ballistic and bark nonstop when they leave the apartment. For hours and hours.
*Calling the landlady is out ( don't ask). No cops either.( I like to keep a low profile).
Thanks in advance.

This might sound stupid, but is it possible to befriend the dogs?
Seriously, hear me out. My neighbors have this older, three legged dog that protects his property with extreme ferocity and a VERY loud bark. Missing a leg doesn't slow him down a bit. I walk by him every morning and it was clear he wanted nothing more than to tear me to pieces. I started talking to him, telling him what a good job he was doing and such. As time went on, he barked less and less. Now, he rarely bothers to get up when I pass.
Can you sneak treats through the door?

The dogs bark at everything! A leaf. The wind. Other people walking by, etc.
I asked them to stop banging their cabinet doors when they first moved in in April. (They took over their daughters lease, so they know that our common walls are paper thin.)
They're doing it on purpose.
They just don't care.
I need a device that will stop the barking.

Exactly. I've yet to see them get walked. Probably just let them shit in their yard.
They came from a huge house too.
It's the fact that they PURPOSELY let the dogs sit at their open, screened door that irritates me.
They also slam their kitchen cabinets all day/ night, which sounds like gun shots.
I've asked them to stop. So, naturally they're doing it more.:(

Lol!! At this point, I might consider this.
A friend of mine suggested buying skunk spray for their yard.
The theory is that, the dogs will step in it. Track it into their apt. They'll have no choice but to move out.
She said that a lady she knew did it to her annoying neighbor, and they moved out.
The problem is, do my neighbors have cameras?
I contacted a local realtor, who is going to help in finding out the legal way to go about it.
Will report back.

I experienced Pumpkin Spice betrayal- I bought International Delight coffee creamer in Pumpkin Pie Spice...It smells awesome in the bottle but it tastes odd in coffee and is a bit thin (& I poured it in a weak brew of Starbucks coffee so it's not like the coffee is to blame here.) I'm actually going to email a customer complaint. I don't do that too often.
edit to add- I did try it after I shook it up. Still seems a bit odd.
Also, slightly shocking- I realized Dollar General stores have higher prices on some products than the same items at Wal Mart. Be aware of that. DG is still great for discounts overall.

Something has been wrong with my child's health for at least 4 years and I'm sick of every doctor, hospital, and clinic telling me that she's alright. She's not alright. She behaves like a 67 year old man with a bad back. Stop telling me that she just has a cold or that it's a mild fever and stop giving me that dumb nod while i explain the problem because you're secretly imagining what you're going to eat for lunch - fix my baby.

My advice, if you're hardcore into Pumpkin Spice for Autumn, buy the spice mix itself and toss it on your coffee or tea to made sure you get the proper flavor blast.

Blues can't post in and don't by tradition thank in pink threads, but I saw this and had to re-post it. As a newer mod, I can attest to the truth of what Optimist is saying.
1. The reason for the rules becomes clear if you look at any other sites that are loosely modded. They quickly become offensive, festering pits of nonsense and much worse.
2. A LOT goes on behind the scenes - I've been a mod for 2 years and I'm still barely catching up with it. Of the top mods, Optimist, PDG and Djoser have photographic memories and can somehow keep track of years of multiple identities, posting styles, trolls, spammers, wannabe pimps, fetishists, angry people, and con artists and amazingly keep them separate from our 3000 good posters. Kudos to all the mods; those above just help me frequently.
So here is the full post so the blues can see it in its full splendor:
Optimist: "I'm so glad you said it! This is the only board I'm on where I've seen people cry about other members being banned -- folks they don't even know -- but go on campaigns painting them as victims. It's a message board. Banning doesn't mean death or dismemberment!
To protect the guilty I'll share this GENERAL info about some notorious banned people. We had one who would play the victim but was doxxing y'all. Let me be clear, this means OUTING you to friends family and vanilla employers as well as making up allegations and trying to get police intervention. One was soliciting money from people. Another was setting girls up for God knows what in offsite meetings. Plenty are pretending to be dancers and aren't. One was trying to get other members fired. One threatened lawsuits. Some have had multiple troll accounts male and female and have them draw people into fights ...
I don't know what some of you want. We had a clique who was literally lying and running down Mods and trying to cause women to fight with men and whites to fight with Blacks and I guess y'all want us NOT to Mod? You have straight up headcases on here but a bunch of members will become attached then cry over their passing. But what you don't know about are the dozens they have been pm-ing harassment, lies, utter fuckery. We gotta read all the complaints about these people week in and week out, month in, year in.... So should we be afraid of being seen as mean or protect the people getting screwed over behind the scenes? To even assume a Mod is mean is bizarre to me. I don't get it."

Doordash is on my crap list. My kid and I ordered food from Boston Market and was waiting for our food. The app said that the food would arrive be arriving in 25 minutes(estimated time). An hour went by and no food. I called Boston Market and they said no order was placed under my name. I checked my email for the Doordash receipt as proof. It was there and another hour later, low and behold, Doordash said that they couldn't deliver the food because I was out of their service range. Ok, then why didn't you call or something after I had placed the order to let me know, instead of leaving us to wait for food that was never coming?

^^I don't use them anymore. I used to order delivery all the time from club A steakhouse on 39th - tip $30 plus the fee. Then I find out they're treating their delivery people like shit AND their restaurants like shit. I can put up with the lateness, the lost orders, the lack of communication, but not that AND treating their staff badly.
