I thought I'd post this question here rather than launching a new thread. I hope that's okay, despite it being a bit old.

I have noticed an increasing number of cam girls and dommes accepting PayPal for transactions for gifts and tributes. I get that it's not strictly a cam show or considered sex work to send someone a gift, but is this becoming more common now? I thought your address and name were still at risk if you took payments this way? So surely still risky?

I only ask, as so many guys are so leery about Indiebill. I have thought about bank transfer as well; in the UK, anyway..It annoying as I already don't have a wish list due to security concerns! *sigh*

Thanks in advance for any input. :)

I just wouldn't use PayPal. Chargebacks are too easy.

I'm seeing this as well and pretty soon cam models will start doing shows for "tributes" if they're not already and those Dommes will be losing their money and their accounts. There's so many other ways to take payment anymore there's no real excuse for it but it's up to them if they want to take the risk I guess but it does make it harder on the rest of us when we have to explain we can't take payment like that yet a 1/2 dozen other girls probably did for him before smh.

Thanks for the input on this. Yeah, I won't use it. It's just not worth it, is it.

PP is a BIG, FAT, NO-NO for anything adult!

To be honest i use it now. I don't accept it for cam or phone unless they've done a lot with me before but i do for other things. I have a seperate pp with no bank details attached and i never publicly publish the email i use for it. I stayed away for along time and i wrote about the risks many times - $500 fine, bank accounts can be frozen to get to the money to pay the fine, anyone associated with your ip can be banned from pp for life. Personally i decided fuck it. I have other preferred methods of course but am willing to use pp now, and it's my choice, not because guys asked (if they insist on pp i refuse to do business with them). Sounds contradictory i know. You have to make up your own mind in full knowledge of the risks.

You can safely take bank transfer as all they need is your account and sort code, they can give any name. However from some point next year all UK banks are making it mandatory that the name given must match that on the account so unfortunately bank transfer will be out. I havw already shored up alternatives by opening app based bak accounts :) x

It seems like it's every week that some performer is on social media crying because paypal, circle, cashapp etc "stole" their money. What boggles my brain are the ones who say they didn't know about the consequences? But I suppose if you see enough people promoting cash apps for adult payments, then you just throw caution to the wind. https://twitter.com/VeraSkyLive/status/1111287128472866818?s=19

I was starting to wonder if something had change rules-wise myself, as so many people do seem to be risking it.

Susie, thanks for the heads up on the banks! That is an absolute ballache - gahhh! When you say app-based banks, do you mean things like Monzo? :) I've found them great but have never used them for camming. x

No, the rules haven't changed. What has changed is that the few indy listing sites that enforced rules have become very lax in doing so. This has had a major tranformative effect on the direction of camming in general. Indy listing sites have gone downhill sharply in the last year, while box sites that have doubled down on keeping their clients on site (sparked by FOSTA/SESTA guidelines) have become a booming business again. About 2 years ago we did an interview with Xbiz about the future of camming where it looked like indy was the wave of the future, and now its turned into another tale of "why we can't have nice things."

Too bad more people didn't use Project Maenad for this.

Thanks for the insight. Didn't know that was the way things were going. But I've been camming a lot less up until recently. That reminds me actually; I need to get back on sm and sort out a suitable payment for the UK!
