For what it is worth..I have a few suggestions,
The encoder or faster internet, I didnt read back thru the thread...a light or two (like seriously $5 wal mart), and maybe change your build on your profile. You are listed as average for body type, not sure where that would put you in the categories, the girls I see doing good are usually high up in a niche...pick one curvy, BBW, petite. I really didn't watch you, so I do not know your hustle but you look really dark to me, but I look really orange to me.
You can do it girl!! My computer sucks ass but I invested in better internet, and with higher prices (4.99 +) you can pull that money and much more. I hope you the best of luck!

I peeked in on you and your cam is SUPER DARK. Like, I couldn't even make out your face it was so dark. You're going to need some lighting.... ASAP!
I use the clamp on construction looking lights, few bucks at walmart or home depot.
If you can;t buy lights (or even if you can!) make sure that you check you feed through the cammodels link when you are logged on. Then you can adjust your light using the cam settings (brightness, gain, exposure, etc). Makes a huge difference - just using the "right light" setting SUCKS.

where do i log into cammodels link?

You don't have to "log in", but while you're streaming go to your SM name.cammodels.com .... Like I'm tattooboobs.cammodels.com ... Its technically streamate, but another name they go by and a good way for you to go see what the custies are seeing!!

I'm not sure I saw where anyone said that newbies can make over $500/day? Maybe I missed it. I think a newbie making $500 in a day is EXTREMELY rare. It's pretty rare for most cam girls doing this for a while to make $500/day from what I have heard.
Yup you missed it lol just a couple posts over mine, funnymoney directly asked if a newbie can really make that kind of money without any regs, and stephanie replied, hell yeah :D and that shes been making over $500/day since she started. And there have been a few remarks to how camming is fast money.
Vivian, not sure how Im taking things out of context? The OP said she is a new camgirl, and others are letting her know how much money they make and all saying its totally doable, a lot of people bringing up the $500/day number..which is probably why funnymoney asked the question to begin with.
Yup, my whole understanding, and my personal experience is that cam is not easy money..as long as Ive been doing this, if I really put my all into it, the most Ive made and can say Ive made consistently is about $200-300/day. Otherwise, Ill have some $20/days, some $500 days, but thats super rare, its more like something in the middle, and I have to put a lot into it to make what I do. So yeah, that others are talking about how they are consistantly making so much more than that and telling a newbie that its totally possible def does have me re-evaluating what Im doing, cause my own experience hasnt been like that.

Anyway! I really feel like I cant say much in the way of advice, only cause if anyone says that a newbie might not be able to make the kind of money she needs or gives any other suggestions everyone comes down on them, but like...from reading what everyone is saying here its pretty easy money so I can understand why, and since I havnt worked cam full time in awhile my own experience doesnt count for much and so I cant really agree or disagree with what others are saying here...but yeah, of course happy to hear that things have changed.
Just really do hope that the OP comes back with a good update that she was able to pay rent come Monday. Its a scary thing to have a child and be afraid to lose your home, been there done that!! So really pulling for OP that she makes it.

I don't think that it is EASY money - most people seem to have posted that it would be DOABLE to make $125 a day IF SHE PUTS IN THE HOURS. Very important phrasing. I think that most of us are being pretty clear - and if you CAN'T make $125 a day putting in 8-12 hours....well then camming ain't for you!! Yes, we all have crappy days, but you should be able to make minimum wage as an average overall.
And we are also trying to support and encourage the girl!!! Camming is SO much a mind game - and believing that you can do it is such a HUGE part of being able to do it. There have been suggestions of other ways to make money, some of which are viable short term, some of which just...aren't. Advice on assistance is awesome. Advice to start up a whole new income stream...no so much.

Okay...well, I hope that this doesnt come off in a bad way then? But considering she has a son, then saying that its not for her if she cant cam 8-12 hrs a day and make that money might be kind of being rough on her. I mean, the only times I will ever cam is while kiddo is at school or asleep, but shes a *very heavy sleeper* and understand it for some parents that they wont cam while their child is at home at all.
So theres the encouragement factor, but that she has to take her child into consideration kind of cuts down on the hours available for her to work...I dont think that not being able to cam 8-12hrs a day would mean shes not cut out for cam, but having that time limitation does have an affect on potential earnings.
Def though, since I was able to work while kiddo slept, I was able to do it...jeez, for a long while my schedule was...kiddo was in bed by 9, I started on cam at 10p worked until 3a, slept 3hrs, got up and get kiddo off to school, be back on cam by 8a until she got home at 3p spent some time with her, get dinner ready, fall asleep at about 6 or 7, slept 2 hrs got her in bed by 9, then start all over again.
Thats actually 12hrs of cam...actually less though since I did take at least a half hour break, usually an hour each shift... but with only about 5 hrs of sleep and the only time I ate was dinner with kiddo, but I was too wound up or tired to eat, so my diet consisted of instant coffee :D Its hard working around a schedule taking care of a kid too, not impossible, but def, I guess its rough to hear it that if you dont put in those hours and make that kind of money youre not cut out for cam. I mean jeez, Im here feeling bad hearing what everyone has saying cause Ive been doing it so long and havnt made the kind of money you all do, and I cant cam at night anymore cause my apt is too small and I dont have the privacy for it, but...I wont let it get me down, will just re-evaluate like I said.

^^Oh, I;'m not suggesting that she should be able to all the time! Just that in a crunch, you CAN make that money IF you are willing to find a way to put in the hours. That is all. I totally understand that there are other things in life, but like you said, when your really needed to, you were able to for a short time. She may not even need to work that many hours - I hope she doesn't! But anyone really should be able to pull $10 an hour or so, and it IS possible to work marathon days for four whole days.
And it's not to say that if you can't put in insane hours camming isn't for you - I was saying that if you can't average minimum wage, it isn't for you. So if all you have is 5 hours a week, you should be able to make $50+. Not that if you don't make $1000 a week, you should just quit!
This is a SHORT TERM situation - I feel like a lot of the advice given just doesn't reflect that! I'm not talking about all day, every day, all week every week. Just saying that if you are really hard up, then work your butt off - work marathon days, live on coffee...and know that it IS possible.

This is what I've been trying to say all along. Simply put, it's not that easy for a newbie camgirl to make $125 unless she does everything right and works the hell out of her new model angle. SarahTime just said her cam is dark. Everyone went from "use the encoder!" to "forget the encoder and just work!". It doesn't work like that. Her situation hasn't been throughly accessed. Is it just the encoder that's stopping the money flow? Obviously not. I remember when I first joined imlive (before sw) I didn't know shit about what lights to get. I just jumped on cam and thought it was how to make money though I still did exceptionally well. My point is, you can't just start throwing out numbers and not knowing a girl's situation. I didn't even know that upload speed made a big difference until HaydenBlue (I think) started that awesome thread. And it made a huge difference in my earnings.
If someone told me in the begining as a newbie camgirl that I could easily make $125 a day I would have been disappointed because camming was sooo inconsistent for me until I made regulars. Sharpie, you know how imlive has that tool that allowed us to email our "fan club" members to let them know we were online? That's how I started making serious consistent money. Those newsletters were soo corny but they worked! I really wish streamate had that feature. All I'm saying is, If everyone could just hop on cam as a newbie and start making $125 a day - I believe there will be a lot more camgirls than there are now.
On the flip side, I would have said join Myfreecams.com and work the new girl angle. Hell I've seen girls begs their ways to the top on MFC - It could have worked. But myfreecams is serious YMMV. A long time when I tried MFC I was able to make way more than $125 a day very easily as a newbie but when my camscored dropped from not logging on - that was the end of that.
Now she only has a day or two? I really do think she should start looking into the Criss programs if there is one in her city. It is time to start being realistic.
OP, What is your exact situation? Are you just past the due date on rent in a few days or have you been through the eviction process already? If you are simply just passing the rent due date then then you still have time between now and the actual eviction date (the day when the sheriff comes to your house and makes you leave). Yes they will probably add on more fees but you can still make it. All I'm saying is you may have more time than you're aware of. It takes at least 60 for evictions to happen. I'm really hoping you're renting from a management company and not a private owner because then that way you're not just being put out on the street and you will have more time to make the money you need and even more. Good luck and I really wish you the best. I've been damn near homeless before and it was not fun.

DarlynRae - Your lighting looks WAY better now. Good job on that!
Also, as far as her being a "newbie"... she has profile comments dating back to May, so that's like 6 months..? Not as newbie as we thought at first, considering the whole "how much can newbies make" thing.
Darlyn I really hope you make your goal!!! Let us know, please!

^^^^^:O You were on for ten hours and made $8????
Did you check your cam to make sure that it was working? Were you trying to use the encoder and having problems with connection? Was this before or after you fixed the light issue? Did you check your cammodels link to make sure that you were visible, and audible? Did it look like your feed was choppy, or lagging really badly?
For that, I have to assume that there is something going wrong on a technical level. Have you mentioned your upload speed?

Since you only have two days, have tried already and only made $8 I'm going to suggest you put something in your room topic like "special price today" and lower your rates to $1.99. That way maybe some will take advantage of it, realizing that it is a limited time thing.
I would never suggest leaving it like that because you won't get good regs and will attract all kinds of demanding idiots with no money who may come in for 31 seconds then trash your ratings, but at this point you are running out of time here.
The nice thing is that you can change your rates up to 10 times a day so experiment and see if it helps?
The minute you reach your goal of enough $ I would change it back though, because you are going to probably get your ratings ruined becuase of broke assholes if you leave it too long.

I hate to say it...but I can relate Daylen, so dont feel bad or think its you. Its like that Murphys Law thing...when Im desperate for money, its like pulling blood from a rock to make it. I can be on all day all nite and make nothing. But when Im all...ohh I have nothing better to do, let me pop on cam for an hour, Ill be in back to back privates.
That example of my schedule wasnt a short term thing or what I did when in a crunch...that was my life. Because the money isnt consistant for me, I had to pull those hours to get my bills paid every month. Thats part of why I burn out so fast...I know what Im in for and what I have to do to make a living with it, and just thinking about it hurts morale, but yeah of course...I did what I had to do. It all balanced out in the end, but yeah, like you mentioned Roses, I would have those $10/hrs, sometimes less than that...but I knew if I kept holding out, I would have those spurts of back to back privates. I mean, even with what everyone here is saying they make, I dont feel ashamed to be honest and say Ive made way less than you guys, even with not eating or sleeping for weeks at a time. If I wasnt an insomniac and already have an eating disorder, and was a normal person :D I would have been fucked. :(
Dont take this as a suggestion, just giving my personal experience, that thats why I do broaden my earning circle, and dont just do one thing or only work off of one site. Even when I did just cam, I worked several sites at once, because when things were slow on one, it would be busier on another. I also have my own site set up since I can get a bigger percentage than working off the sites. I did video sales on C4S and Rude. Not to mention that I also freelance, and for many years did web design, have done personal assistance, have just started a photo retouching service, even did the unthinkable and went out and got a vanilla job for a couple months there. Even with everything I was doing, it was not enough...I was on the verge of losing my home and like Vivians quote says..where theres a will theres a way. Im the only one providing for kiddo, and theres nothing Im not willing to do to make sure she has a safe home, food, and the things she needs...so when it came down to it, it wasnt above me to become an escort. I do what I have to do. But even that isnt easy money for me....I spend just as much time on marketing and promotion, and maintaining my website and building regs. Its really no different than with cam in that regard...for me there is still work involved in building my business before I see a solid return on it. Im doing much better now than before, but even so Im not making the kind of money that ladies were talking about earlier lamenting about how much escorts make. It still takes work..things get slow, weeks can go by with no date at all.
Thats why I still go on cam, and still sell videos, and still do fin domme, and still freelance and try hard as I can to maintain every income stream Ive started... I have a kid to take care of here and no bf or husband to depend on, or family to move in with...I dont have a fall back plan, I am the plan. If I had balls, theyd be so busted right now :D Im constantly on the verge of burn out. People on the outside think we're so lucky, all we have to do is log in cam and bank, or all an escort has to do is lay down and make hundreds...but its not like that, at least not for me it hasnt...so yeah, kind of surprised to hear that theme running in this thread that its totally do able to do that, cause Ive had to work really hard and I still have moments where things get slow and I go into a panic, nothing in this biz has been consistent for me, but thats just my own experience, and I know even more now than ever that can only speak for myself in that regard.
Just want to put that out there, so that others reading dont feel bad if it isnt as easy for them to make the kind of money many are talking about in here.... Some ladies are super lucky to step in and be able to do it no problem, but theres no shame in it or any sign that youre not cut out for this if you have to work hard to get to that point. Just putting myself out there, that I have to work very hard, be pretty focused, diversify, be patient that it will pay off, and always thinking up new ways to pull in money in order to make it.
I think that seeing how rent is due tomorrow, it would be a good idea to start looking into gvt assistance. When I was about to lose my home, the *last* thing i wanted on my report was an eviction, because just having one filed on you stays on your report, and makes it *very* hard to get a new place. I did not want that at all....theres no shame at all in getting state aid if needed, I mean, I have my own quirk why Ill do whatever I have to in order to avoid gvt assistance, but esp with having a child, looking into all available resources is something to think about doing. Maybe even look into getting a vanilla job, I worked in a restaurant for a few months, and though it wasnt much money, it was consistent at least. Just dont get a hostessing job!!!! that sucks, get a server position...something tip based at least so you walk home with some dollars in your pocket after every shift. Just that, if one thing isnt working, I think its wise to expand your options.

Daylen, if you have some sexy videos or are willing to make some (like custom vids), I think you should even consider doing some sort of 'highest tipper of the day' contest and keeping the info in your SM room topic. A while back I even saw a model on Streamate with a room topic about a raffle she was doing. I know that sounds like something more suitable for MFC models, but I'm just trying to come up with something. The highest tipper of the day can get something sent to their inbox like a custom vid, custom pics, custom audio clip, premade pics, or premade vids. And of course the guy HAS to message your SM inbox first before you're able to send him download links.
If the encoder isn't an option (computer or internet can't handle it, or you still have to fiddle with the settings), you're better off doing without it for now. You're on a very short time frame. I know that until I get a new laptop, I'm better off not using the encoder for now and just using the regular HD option.
Other options:
*Posting for sale ads in the area of Craigslist that is local to you, selling items that you're willing to part with.
*If there's a GameStop store local to you, you can go there and sell them used video games and video game systems. If there's a store like FYE nearby, you can sell them her used DVDs and CDs.
*Call/text family members and friends to see if any of them can loan some money...even if it's just $20 to get closer to that goal. Not sure if you have a 'strictly family and friends' Facebook account, but you can add a status mentioning that you're in need of help ASAP.
If you happen to be a daily pay member who's been with it for a while, you can apply for a loan of up to $130 by clicking here: http://adultworkwebcammers.co.uk/joomla/index.php?option=com_mad4joomla&jid=2&Itemid=8

I am 2 weeks new and split cam between a couple of sites and have a goal (for now) of making a combined $125 a day on cam working 4 to 5 days a week and I'm on an average of 6 to 8 hours a day and I am making an average of $300 a week with no regulars or whales and doing mostly dom. So some days I do not make my goals at all but it's a start and certainly more money than what I was making before camming as I am a SAHW.
I put this out here because I want to motivate myself and look back a year from now at just how far I have come and how much more money I am earning than what I just posted here today.
Don't give up OP, I know we will make it.

Selling stuff on Craigs is not a bad idea. When I moved, due to a bad situation where a friend dropped the ball on me and I had no help on moving day, I went aroudn my apartment, took photos of everything I owned, and put it up on craigslist. When someone came by to pick up whatever they were interested in, I hustled them into buying other stuff on the spot. By that evening Id made almost $300. I didnt sell any of my electronics though, but if youre willing to part with your stero/tv, mp3 players, etc thats money there.
This may sound kind of shitty, but I did this too.....answered ads in Craigs from so called sugardaddies, you know the sort, Ill be your sugardaddy, just want to "test things out first" and Ill give you money for that when we meet. I knew they were full of it, but still for doing "just about" nothing, would make a couple hundred off of that. That was before I became an escort though, couldnt imagine doing that now knowing what I do. But jeez, yeah...girls do it with the hopes a guy really will spoil them and pay their rent. At least I was fully aware of it they were full of shit and just wnated to get whatever I could out of them.
Isnt there money in giving blood too? I think there is right? I cant do it cause I have this thing where my body doesnt regenerate red blood cells fast enough, the one time I gave blood I was in the military and they made all of us donte blood...but I passed out and couldnt move for a week *sigh* so I dont know much personally, but I think you get paid for it?
Sell stuff on ebay....Ive done that...I let go of a lot of my books doing that. It hurt *so bad* cause I love my books, but I had many that were really old/classics in good condition, so I sold quite a few of those. Just recently found out that one of the books I own is going for almost $300 on Amazon, and another one going for over $100. So if I ever really found myself in a crunch, Id let go of them.
Hrmm...what else...just trying to think here, cause only one day left to make rent money. Ive done some crazy stuff, but jeez, my rent has been at $1500-$2000 until last year when I move into a super small 1bd *sigh* but Ive done all sorts of things to keep my home and avoid eviction. Still think that looking into gvt assistance is the way to go. Cause even when the rent is paid, that leaves no money for bills and food, and you still have the next month to contend with.

As always, keeping it real....
My thoughts exactly. Camming IS a waste of time at this point UNLESS the eviction process hasn't started yet.
If she's simply freaking out because she's past her rent due date, then she should suck it up and work her ass off. If the sherif is coming in two days,
it's time to start looking at other options.
She hasn't elaborated on that - so we don't know. I guess my initial idea wasn't so bad. Who wants to be homeless during the holidays? No one.

^ and most of the time they shoot footage for clips in they're own C4S stores, lol! i found that to be true with alot of those adds on craigslist. so better off just working on spicing up ur own cuz thats where its gonna end up anyways (unless you don't mind a cameo of urself in another store and if ur aloud to post ur own links or not when ur featured then if might be worth it) >>>>> end. of. theadjack.
OP i am rooting for ya hun. i know it is extremely hard to work ANY type of job when ur stressed for bills. it isn't just camming that becomes unpleasant when ur strapped for cash. anyone anywhere can get underneath ur skin when ur in a bind.
camming can be done and made to work for you, you just have to adjust urself to find what works best and brings in the most (it may require lots of changes but if u are persistent enough, you can find ur own sweetspot). don't worry too much about the traffic right now, just try and convert whoever comes into ur room saying hello to you. when i stopped focusing so much on the volume of screennames entering my room and just focused my attention on working whoever came in and seemed interested in me. when i did that, my earnings rose quite a bit. even 1,2 or 3 people can make ur whole day and with minimal effort on ur end. think whatever money they have on they're CC is YOURS and squeeeeeeeeeeeeeze it out of them by prolonging the privates as MUCH as possible! read up on here about prolonging ur privates without being obvious. you can do a quick search and find a few good threads on this. make them FORGET about time. you CAN make this work with enough PERSISTENCE and DETERMINATION!

Totally my bad! I read so many ladies saying they made $500/day, and more than $500/dy that was in my head when I wrote about your reply, but indeed, you didnt say that :)
You're good, girl! I just wanted to clarify that I am by no means a rock star at camming. lol

Are you only working on one site?
Unfortunately Im not sure which sites payout by this coming Monday. Exceptions would be sites not on a specific schedule or where you can request payments, but Id guess you dont have profiles on those sites or wouldnt have time to set up one. but Id strongly suggest going forward (post-Monday) if camming is now your primary income to splitcam at the very least.
This is advice given to someone who needed 500 within a limited timeframe: http://www.stripperweb.com/forum/showthread.php?145160-NEED-HELP-Any-advice-welcome
1800 within a limited timeframe (about a car... may not apply):

Housing advice:
http://www.stripperweb.com/forum/showthread.php?162637-homeless
Additionally nonprofits, especially ones involved with housing advocacy, tend to be trained on how to deal with housing and eviction crises. I may have missed if that was the issue(?) but if youre somewhere where it is currently winter and have a child then your requests for support or advice at least, should be expedited.
Good luck, amazing advice and tips here. If you're working "off and on", my only suggestion is make sure it is way more on than off - download a timer and make sure youre broadcasting at least 8hours every day, cumulatively, and the time that count towards your 8 hours is real broadcasting time. Pauses, breaks, bathroom trips, time on SW, watching TV or something simultaneously dont count as live time. Be ruthless and focused.
One thing I do when Im slacking is I get notified of when models who: 1. seem to work ALL of the time, 2. I think are amazing, go live. Then when I get popups or texts or emails that theyre live, I feel like a douchebag if Im not broadcasting when I very well could be as well. So do that for a bunch of models who inspire you because youll get a sense of applied effort and how yours can be boosted, as well

Im not sure if this applies to ALL states, but isnt rent TECHNICALLY due by the 5th?i dunno how many times ive paid rent on the 5th-many times theres a $25 late fee and then usually a $10-30 late fee for every day after the initial $25 charge.Sure its more money that you dont have, but your deadline would be prolonged 4 extra days, and it sounds like you REALLY need any extra time you can get at this point.i would absolutely pay $35 extra(or more depending on what day you paid)if it bought me extra time to make my rent.Ive been hearing alot of ladies are having trouble with the encoder saying they are offline and/or not showing up on their custies favorites list.SM is def having some issues this week.anyways-if you have a copy of your rental agreement, read through it carefully.most of the time a landlord/manager will not come right out and say that you have til the 5th but its usually always somewhere in the lease.ive paid late so many times in the past 12 yrs ive lost count girl...

I thought one of her posts said that she doesn't have the necessary equipment for the encoder, or something like that? If so, she may have to do without it for now, and just stay on cam as long as she can. If she hasn't responded here in a while, I guess we could consider that a good thing 'cuz it could mean she's camming hard right now. *crossing my fingers for her* I definitely think she can achieve this with all of the awesome advice you ladies on here have given her, as well as with any help she can get from her loved ones. I wish her the best.

Depends on the state and the rental agreement.
If your lease specifies the 1st, it is the 1st. If it specifies the 15th, it is the 15th.
Most leases have a built in "late payment" clause that allows you to pay up to x days late for a late fee of $x. $25 is pretty standard. However, there is a limit on how late you can pay, and how many times you can pay late. This should be specified in the lease.
Beyond that, you are looking to your local tenancy board for legislation on how late you can pay your rent, the laws around eviction and requirements, etc etc.
Not sure where the OP is located, so it is hard give very specific advice beyond "look up the local tenancy act and re-read your tenancy agreement". I know that for where I am, the tenancy act is INCREDIBLY generous toward tenants. In my last building, a neighbor hadn't paid rent for nearly 3 months by the time they finally managed to legally evict her - and even eviction takes a few weeks to process. In very few places is it legal to just get the baliffs around to turf out your stuff on the 2nd of the month!!
What I can say is that landlords are often MUCH more lenient if you communicate with them honestly and BEFORE there is a major issue. So if the OP doesn't have the full rent by tomorrow, I would do this:
1. FIRST thing in the morning - as in, 8am, or whenever your bank is open - contact the bank. Look at how much you have, and exactly how much you are short of rent. Then ask the bank if it is possible to extend your overdraft (or get one, if you don't have one) by that amount (or that amount + $100 to live off for the next week), and if so, how long it would take to have those funds available.
2. If you are not able to get the full amount on loan from the bank, consider calling and extending any credit cards you have. I am not usually a fan of telling anyone to get further into debt, but it is preferable to damaging your credit with overdue payments, unpaid rent, collections agencies, etc.
3. If you STILL cannot get the money on credit, call anyone you know, and see if anyone can loan you any money.
4. CALL YOUR LANDLORD. Yup - this is a sucky call to make. But you are better off calling BEFORE there is a problem. Call them and apologise. Explain that you are in a bad spot, and that you are unable to pay your rent in full. If you have given them checks - ask them not to deposit your check, and tell them that you will bring them a new check (or cash) TODAY for the amount that you are able to pay. This means that they don't have to deal with a bounced check, and you don't have to deal with fees for bouncing a check - when you are hard up, that LAST thing you need is to suddenly be another $100 in the hole with fees for bouncing, and then further fees because the first fee put you over your limit. Then tell them how long it will take you to get the rest (the first three steps should have got that figured out, and if not, name a reasonable amount of time), and that you will be happy to pay the late fee. Apologize again, and tell them that it will not happen a second time.
For the most part, most landlords will be understanding, and will at least be MORE understanding if you have approached them as an adult and dealt with the situation asap, keeping them in the loop at all times. At the very least, it can't possibly make things worse, right?
Then, when you have the immediate problem dealt with - GET YOUR ASS ON CAM! Take advantage of all the other advice given in this thread about split-camming, taking on multiple sites, selling clips, panties, and even vanilla stuff. Take up TURKing on the side - an extra $20 a day when you are too exhausted to cam or can't because your kid is awake can make a difference. Sell on craigslits, do surveys, do local focus groups. Do everything you can to make as much money as you can in as many different ways as possible, do everything you can to maximise earnings, and make sure that you are never again in a situation where you MUST make $x or you are screwed.
I hope you can do it! I hope you can deal with it! I hope that you managed enough to get you through, and that you can find a way to get whatever the balance is. Good luck - and let us know what happens!!

I am trying to figure out why no one was giving her this advice to start ? She could have been doing this days ago.
Fact of the matter is MOST landlords do NOT want to go through the eviction process. It is a pretty expensive process for them.
They will rather you pay late than to have to evict you. So don't give up too early - do every single thing you can to keep your place
and don't be afraid to ask for more time.

^^^Personally, I wasn't giving her that advice until now for two reasons.
1. It was not the answer to her question. I like to assume that the girls posting here are pretty smart (smart enough to find us, at least! LOL) and have probably considered other options, so have framed their question very specifically to reflect that. If someone asks "can I make x amount on cam" I assume that they have considered other options, decided that this is the best one, and would like assurance that they can make it, a break down, and a little advice on how. I prefer not to go way outside the scope of the question until the thread develops. In this case, the time is pretty much up, and from follow up posts, it looks like the OP didn't make the goal, so I consider that advice supplementary.
2. As I have said before, I believe strongly in the power of the mind, and of positive thinking when it comes to a job like this. I have seen it change MY earnings again and again, so I know that it works for me, at least. Because of that, I don't like to discuss worst case scenarios, or "what if I don't make goal" until someone has actually not made that goal. I think it does more harm than good to assume that you won't make your target. At this point, if she is working for rent, cutoff was today, and it doesn't sound like she hit it, so it is the time to go through the worst case scenario. The advice I gave would be no more help 2-3 days ago. If a landlord can accept and work around rent being a little late, a couple days will make no difference. If they can't, again, 2-3 days won't make any difference.

CourtneyRaine

I want updates too!
And it's probably too late for the OP's situation but if anyone is in a similar situation in the future, I can confirm that most landlords really will work with you if you let them know what is going on! I live in Arizona and rent from a pretty big management company. In the past when I have had to pay late they have always worked with me. Usually this has meant that I pay at least half of the rent and then sign a promise to pay the remaining balance + $50 late fee by the 15th of the month. If you don't let them know/sign a promise to pay not only will they go ahead and start the eviction process but you will be charged an additional $5/day for each day that you are late on top of the original $50 late fee. Just being upfront can save you SO much money and stress. Of course this will vary from state to state and lease to lease but like someone upthread mentioned, it's much cheaper for landlords to work with you than start eviction proceedings.
Also, just because something is in writing does not mean that they won't work with you to get around it! According to my lease I have through the third of the month to pay my rent, if I pay on the 4th or later I will incur that $50 late fee. This month my payment processor fell behind and I didn't get paid on the 3rd like I was supposed to. I called my leasing office to explain the situation, that I had the rent in full but just not in hand. So we made an arrangement that if I could bring in the amount in full before they went to the bank at 10:00am on the 4th they would not charge me that late fee. Luckily my funds hit my card overnight and I was able to pay them first thing in the morning, but I had I kept them out of the loop they never would have worked with me and I would have been stuck with that fee. Sometimes, especially when it comes to something important as housing, honestly is the best policy.

All I have to write here is really bad...I didn't really want to go on about how I'm going to lose my place and not be able to have xmas for my son...and his bday is tomorrow too...so I'm sorry if i haven't mentioned that, but i'm not the happiest camper at the moment, but I do completely appreciate all of the guidance and who knows, maybe once this storm blows over I will be rakin in the dough and this will all be history and all of this lovely advice will send me skyrocketing to fame :) however, for now...I'm just caught in the middle of a storm and gotta ride it out...

Thanks for the update. Sorry to hear you didn't make your deadline, this too shall pass. I do know that your son can still have a great Christmas. Many churches and charities are looking for families in need to supply Christmas toys and gifts to. Perhaps his Christmas will be good after all :) I wish you the best luck, take it from someone who's been homeless before and on both sides of the fence more than once :( And I know you know this, but the best you can do for him right now is be a great mom. I know you're struggling, but you're doing it for him and he will appreciate it once he's older. You're doing a great job at putting him first. A loving mother who would do anything for her kids in good and bad times is better than any gift I can think of. Also, someone mentioned to me not long ago that you can probably get a lump sum of cash from the social security office to help move you into a new place, food, etc. it's a program for mothers with children. *hugs*
