I'm still working on it. I've been busy building up my video business. It will come out, though . . . eventually.

Did you consider filming 'decorating the tree', 'wrapping gifts'.... ;-) You could offer clientele to send you gifts that you film yourself unwrapping... ;-) My lawn is under 2' of snow, but I'd let you film yourself shoveling my walk... ;-)
Yeah. I haven't really make clips this month. Damned holidays. Hosted two Christmas dinners at my home in less than a week and had to work on more days at work. Ugh.

First a big thank you to the forum and to Larkin for being so generous with her knowledge and experience.
My wife and I started a clips4sale.com store not long ago and are just now starting to get serious about it. I have a professional video and web design background so the technical side comes easy but marketing is another thing entirely.
I am curious what types of previews people have the most success with. Is it best to only have an animated gif or a still image for a cover photo and no watchable preview? Or, is it better to have a watchable preview clip?
Our store is clips4sale.com/72631

Quick question. I see a lot of stores have different links to categories in the description... like "this video includes:.......) and then if you click on them it shows other videos like that. How do you get those links in there?

It's just html linking to the categories.

In the admin you can click on the LIST CLIPS page and at the very top of the page you'll see this line of text which is actually a link: Direct Links to Store Categories
Those links are for the various categories on your studio only, so you can use them to hyperlink the keyword names.

A big ❤ for Larkin! She was who inspired me to work on C4S and do camming, and it's overall improved a lot of my self esteem, as well as made me some good money. Don't rush your work at all, Larkin! Just keep doing what you do best, at the pace which is comfortable for you and I know you will continue to give us stellar content.

This is a little off topic, but I have to ask: how do you lactate? I have to admit... I just love your pretty boobies. P.S. That Ramona roleplay was genius and I bet you rock it.

Women usually lactate after they give birth. And if you don't stop breastfeeding you can lactate for several years. I don't think there is any other way.

You can induce lactation. Lots of supplements and get a good breast pump or rent / buy a hospital grade one.

This thread in fantastic, so useful - thank you! I just have a quick question....does anyone else think file size might be putting off potential customers? I'm new to c4s and have professionally shot videos but the files are BIG! 700MB for some of them. I'm wondering if this puts people off as they can't watch on a phone/tablet....I only know how to use Windows Movie Maker and only know how to resize files by saving them as, for example, "for: Windows Phone (small)" but then I really lose the quality. Do customers mind this or is it better to have smaller files?
Thanks in advance! Am brand new so appreciate any advice and help :)

I would love it if there was some camera information, set up, back ground. How you get into a character and the smaller details. As well as editing programs you have found that work the best :-)
Also what would be good to start with or warm up with to get comfortable with filming (or how to find help filming)

Random but is anyone else having issues signing into their C4S account? It keeps saying that Safari cannot connect to the server. This has been happening since last night. I have not had this issue before although a few days ago I couldn't sign in because "they were performing maintenance". I'm just going to call their customer support in a bit.
Thanks if anyone has any info…

Oh and LaughinDiva…I have not been doing C4S too long…it's been about 5 months now but I am doing much better then I ever had imagined. I am very excited for the future. I know that site works differently for everyone though.
As far as getting into character…for me, the more practice I get, the more comfortable I am in front of the camera and more scene ideas I come up with, etc. Sometimes I look back at the clips I made in the beginning and even though they sold I have really come a long way in terms of my performance and attention to detail. When I shoot a clip I just have a basic idea of what the topic is and go from there. Others write out scripts. Practice and see what works better for you. I don't have any professional lighting at the moment…I have a stand up lamp thingy with three lights on it that works pretty well. Along with other lamps I place around my scene area. As far as editing….I have not edited anything yet. I also don't know how yet lol. I do the scene straight thru. I replay it to make sure it looks good but have not had to edit anything. My sales keep going up so luckily I still have time to learn it lol
The camera I am using now is still a basic logitech webcam that I purchased three years ago. It was only meant for webcamming. Unfortunately it has been finicky lately so I am looking to buy another better quality HD video camcorder. I really don't want to spend more than $300. I am sure I can find something semi decent, but not sure what yet lol. This filming and camera stuff is still very new to me. I just recently learned very basic HTML! Yes, I am behind on my techy stuff lol.
Also if you want to loosen up a bit before filming begins…move your body around..loosen your muscles. Dance. Look in the mirror and smile, open your mouth wide, stretch your legs and arms. Not necessarily in this order lol but just giving you random ideas. Even talk to yourself if you have to and tell yourself that you can do this, and you WILL do it even if it takes a lot of practice. Feel confident and do clips that you would enjoy or have semi of an interest in experimenting with.
Wow this went on for longer than I though lol
Good luck with your adventure =)

Hello,
I read this thread a long time ago and it was an inspiration, although it seems dead today. I just wanted to say that I still find it very useful and I have linked to it in my 56 page clips4sale newcomer guide (http://adult-income.com/clips4sale-guide-for-newcomers/) on adult-income.com. Yes it sounds like a stupid get rich site, but it's not. It's a totally free resource for everyone, to be used or not used. It's up to you.
I started adult-income.com (http://adult-income.com) from scratch about a week ago with the same basic idea as Larkin Love - sharing my knowledge to help people. I have been typing nearly 24/7 the past week and I will continue when the numbness in my arm decreases :) (I have read about RSI now)
The first to get a link to my site was Neil, the owner of clips4sale. After reading, he said it looks good and I should promote it.
Note that I don't know Neil other than those few emails. I am not getting anything for making adult-income (http://adult-income.com), from no one and I don't charge for anything. It's free.
My inspiration to finally start it were the questions on fetlife and several forums about c4s that I could answer, but so much misinformation seemed to be spread. Especially to newcomers who were being laughed at and discouraged at times.
I aim to add articles about a lot of things, I just started with a big c4s focus as that is my main income since a few years, thus my homebase of expertise. Hopefully I can save people hours of frustrations.
Originally, I just wanted to say thanks and say that I linked to this thread. Then it seemed stupid not to say where I linked from. Then one thing came to another. Sorry that I posted this in this thread now. I did a quick search, but I really wouldn't know where else to post it on these forums and this thread seemed appropriate topic-wise. It's also dead (so as not to take over a living thread). However, It's not my intention to interfere here. I'll be gone again, typing helpful articles :)

Also do you guys have intro and credits? How did you decide what to do for them? I'm thinking about just watching a ton of youtube videos and making notes on things that catch my attention.

The info is still basically the same - upload every single day without fail. If you want to hit the big or even medium leagues, upload 10+ vids a day, spaced out. Advertise and promote everywhere x

Thats a damn good summary Susie! Pretty much spot on. You need to find a niche, and film clips that people will buy. You can upload hundreds and only half might sell once or twice... so it's important to find the niche FIRST, otherwise you will waste a lot of time filming heaps of stuff that won't sell.

How do you find your niche? I had no clue, so I was planning on filming a bunch and trying different kinks to see which ones sell for me.

Easier said than done to reach 6 figures. Find your specific niche (of course). Write your own scripts and create original material really helps too. I'm a studio who has reached a decent amount. A couple of my clips have been in the top 50 in the 3 years I've been filming. I've ranked #1 in a popular category and climbing my way up others as we speak. Here's what I can say from my personal experience:
- Great Content (Unique!)
- Film in HD (Can be a webcam even, just have good lighting)
- Write Great Descriptions that Sell
- Create Attractive Gifs (IWantClips has a generator)
- Post at LEAST once a day. You can post 5-10 times a day, but space them out 1-2 hours in between for maximum exposure.
- Don't be afraid of new things to try on there. You can find your next best category!

Yes thats the right idea, but at the end of the day your niche kinda finds you.

I was number one store in 3 niche categories for most of 2013, and that was without anywhere near 10 clips a day.... so long time since my experience was relevant haha. But I filmed a bunch of things (mainly vanilla which did NOT sell - nor did toothbrushing!), and then just continued with the things I got asked for the most and enjoyed the most. I found a bunch of niche fetish forums and interacted on there, not spamming, actually chatting, and that brought lots of traffic. My site at the time was on wordpress and I got loads of traffic via keywords on my blog just from posting up a description and picture every time i published a new clip. The thing with very niche categories is that they're not going to make you the big bucks. They usually have extremely loyal, but small followings. As you gain experience and confidence you could have multiple niche stores to catch all markets, but that is a lot of work. Tara Tainton and MissaX (especially Missa, I love her <3) are jacks of all trades, and that should tell you something x

When you say 10 videos a day how many videos a week/month are you suggesting? I make about 40 videos a month and have daily uploads. Typically I am in the top #5 of my main category but this month Was The first month in over 6 months that I have dropped down almost completely off the list =(
Generally I have about 10-20 people that buy all of my videos as I put them out, but rarely do I get big sales. It's pretty abnormal for me to have many sales that are $75 or more. I do make alright money, generally around $1000-$1500 just on c4s but that's not exactly big bucks. It's a little off-putting when you out in so much work to not get a lot out of it.

Wow the I just looked at one of Missax's previews on pornhub. It is beautifully done from the editing to the luring aspect. I need to go rewatch that. Tara Tainton seems to have a way with words and building up the fantasy. Thank you for pointing them out sexysusie!

What are established c4s models opinions of recording what you do throughout the day as a webcam model? This is a quick and easy way to gather up a lot of content and fast. I have been recording and editing my camshows to start up a c4s store, but I notice a lot of models do actually produce videos and it is obvious that they have put time and effort into the video, whereas all of my videos are shot with the same background. I am not the type who will shoot videos at all when I am off for the day, so I figure recording, and editing the shit out of my cam performances to start, racking up that content, getting all videos edited and ready to go, then launching the store is the best idea. I want to shoot as much content as possible before I launch, so I do not have to worry about shooting every day to keep up. I want a good few months worth of updates (1 video a day to start is a reasonable goal for me) so I can simply add the videos and promote them while I go along, rather then be stuck in an endless cycle of shooting and editing every day. That is just my personal style though which stems from my days of having a solo girl site. I learned then to shoot now, post later and save up the content for updates.

In my experience (not sure if I would count as "established" or not, but I do okay on C4S, my main income is camming) camshows don't sell that well on C4S. What I do is set aside 1 day a week for filming and editing, and I try to stay around a week ahead in filming. That way I can film in different places in my house and different outfits. If you look at the top sellers in categories on C4S, they are NOT camshows that have been recorded and edited, they are videos shot specifically for that category. YMMV, but I doubt you will make much by just putting up recorded shows.

Instead of doing straight recordings of your shows perhaps you can do compilations of the diff types of sexy parts, with each one having a theme.

Exactly. I am editing all of the videos to only include the important bits, fetishes etc. I also put the volume down so there are no annoying alerts or annoying sounds in the background.
