Hi ladies. So, I told one of my girlfriends what I do for a living now and I gotten her interested. Thing is though, she says she wants to watch me first and see how things go before she tries anything out. Have any of you ladies helped a friend become a cam model? If so, what should I do to help her? Or what did you do to help your friend(s)?
I did this. My friend decided against it after trying it out. I just gave her information about everything I knew, showed her how to hustle etc. Make sure if you are on SM and you're referring your friend to SM that you get your friend to contact Vanessa, if she does then you get a referral, and it's great Vanessa said you get the total of your friends first 5 weeks of earnings as a bonus once they've reached the fifth week. Think of the amount u could get! That alone is motive enough to push your friend to do amazing! I wish you and your friend good luck an happy money!

It's nice to advise someone, but then let them find their own style. I personally prefer seperate hustles that get together for shows only so often as a fun event night.
Obvs, if you're the kinda person who likes helping, right on. I'm sure she'd appreciate it. If you find that it ever detracts from your income, then reevaluate. It takes most people awhile to figure out what they feel comfy with anyway, so.........i you love her, ser her free.....or whatever, you know what i kinda mean, maybe.

I have an i7 Toshiba Satellite laptop, and for a while now I've been having a problem with the headphone jack. When I plug in my headphones' cord, the only way I can get any sound to come out is by wiggling the stupid cord. Or I have to keep screwing around with it 'til I'm lucky enough to get any sound. Is there a way to fix this? Is there some home remedy for something like this? Lol. I'm off to Google search this now.
This kinda reminds me of back in the day when your phone charger wouldn't work right, and you had to hold the cord in a certain way just to get the damn thing to charge...lol.

The weird thing about it is that I grabbed my son's Beyblade headphones once to see if I'd have the same problem with those, and I still did. Yet when I let him use my laptop, he insists that he can hear everything just fine with his Beyblade headphones.
I use Philips headphones, by the way. I guess this really isn't a camming-related question though, since I use these headphones for when I'm watching/listening to porn. Lol.

I had a question, so thought I'd post it here instead of starting a new topic. I am on SM, MFC, and chaturbate. Although I haven't cammed on chaturbate yet. I will do flashes in free chat, if a guy has tipped for it. I follow the site's rules, and I don't do below the waist if they don't allow it.
I actually prefer not to do pussy flashes or toy play in free chat, even if a site does allow it. I feel like even if I get tipped for it, I'm giving other guys less incentive to pay for anything- cause they can watch something for free that another guy has paid for. Is this the wrong mentality to have on a token based site? Can I still make money on a token site, if I only do toy play in private?

I'll flash anything in free chat (MFC), but no penetration whatsoever outside of group/private. You'll never make big money on flashes, but it does sometimes seem to push new custies into finally taking you to private.

Thanks for your input. I don't expect to make big money on flashes, was just wondering if I could still make money only doing pussy flashes/penetration in private. Your response sounds like maybe I can.

Yes, you can still make money on there. Plus there are some guys who prefer group/private shows anyway, and not having a bunch of freeloaders (in public chat) trying to direct a model's cum show.
The only way you'll know for sure whether or not something will work for you is to just try it out. But if you're certain that you're not comfortable at all doing something, don't do it. And most likely on MFC the majority of your earnings will come from your regulars anyway.
Sometimes you don't really know what to expect on MFC. It can be inconsistent. I think a lot of models on here consider Streamate their "bread and butter," and find that they make their goals quicker on SM instead. You've gotta figure out what works for you.

Oh, yeah. Totally. Honestly, I think seeing breasts gets more guys to start privates than seeing my pussy, and I'm totally willing to admit that some of the time even just flashing the downstairs-area can get guys off before they've had to pay - not that they'd have been long privates, but still. Don't be afraid to tug at your undies a bit on cam if you get an especially good tip - you don't have to show anything for it to be a turn-on.

Thanks foxy :-) I don't do anything I'm not comfortable with, no matter how much the guy is paying. I'm still pretty new and learning, but I want to establish my boundaries early. Otherwise I'll get a bunch of guys who expect me to be fucking myself while swinging from a chandalier (spelling) for free LOL. I was just wondering if my boundaries were unreasonable. But doesn't seem to be

I'm going to say it depends on you and your hustle. I can only speak from experience and as far as camming goes, I've only ever used CB and skype... On CB, if I cam 20 hours a week, I MAY take 2 or 3 privates. I'm not one of the more expensive per minute private people either. Probably 95% of my income comes from public shows. I know it's possible to make $ if you don't do toy play in public shows though. You can do shower shows and those can be lucrative on the right nights. For me, it's more profitable to do public shows though and only take pvts after I've hit a couple goals.
I like to think of it this way: If it takes me an hour to get a pvt, I only do a couple flashes while waiting, and the pvt only lasts 10 minutes at 30tk a minute (which is probably average on CB), I've only made $15-$20 for the entire hour. Oh and in that 10 minutes I've been doing a private, the 200+ people in my room have mostly all left, which means I'll have to start over to build up the room the second I'm done in order to get more pvts.
If I do 1 shower show, I can charge 2000tk ($100), build up the room and probably hit goal in an hour or two... plus, people always tip a bit during the shows so you may get a couple extra bucks from that as well. So in about the same amount of time, it's easier to make more by doing the public shows. Public shows also mean more exposure, which in turn means more regulars and more $$. Just my two cents on CB. :p

If you're really after information then you'll find that this forum is a plethora of information. Utilize the search function to find out answers to questions and/or participate in on-going threads. The women who frequent this board are cam girls, which is why they post in this section. There's tons of info available via this particular forum about all the different sites we ladies work, try looking for answers there?

Each and every girl in this area of the forum once started from ground zero... And didn't have the information just handed to them. Hell, this forum hasn't always been here and some even functioned WITHOUT it. If you're that "time poor" that you can't take the time to read about your potential new job, you're not cut out to be a cam girl. I read on this forum for, I kid you not, three months, before I decided to take the leap.
Just my $0.02.

Not trying to be mean... I'm usually really nice to new forum members and try to be patient when directing them to use the search function or read the stickies... but the only times I've heard someone use "babe" like that were cocky guys. That's probably why you're coming off as trollish.
If you've got thick skin and are willing to put in the time to do research and read the stickies and you're actually an aspiring camgirl, then welcome to the forums! :)

Just out of curiosity, are you a studio owner or do you work for a site? I'm sorry if you're not, but some of your posts do seem "off".
The site collects ID if you wish to accept tokens. Some very good money can be made on there.
What makes you say that? You say you're not a model yet and haven't had time to research.
Can't believe so many people hate chaterbate.. Weird. I didn't think there was much wrong with it. Direct message me with why I should not be on there, or if your thinking about joining and why / why not.. Thanks babes ..xx
Most publicly posted questions on here are answered publicly, unless they contain sensitive info or are really off-topic. Asking people to message you if they're thinking of joining a site kind of sounds like you want to get them alone to convince them one way or the other. I'm not trying to attack you, it's just that some of your posts set off alarms (for me at least.) If you're really a future camgirl looking for advice you might want to think about how you present yourself and how what you say and do can be perceived (which will help you a lot in camming, not just on SW!)
I have a technical question... I wasn't able to find an answer via search so I'm posting here. I bought a logitech c920 (splurged!) and it looks beautiful when used with photobooth for example (I'm on a mac) but when used on MFC I am super pixelated and my built in cam looks better. It's not my mac because I tried it out on my boyfriend's PC and it was exactly the same thing. When I cam it says my bandwith is excellent... the pixellation is really hurting my hustle & I want to take advantage of my new girl status. But how do I fix this? A custie mentioned frame rate...

True. The MFC member who was in my public chat bitching about my bedroom wall (it's pink with a white floral background) never even tipped me except maybe once, and he's been in my room several times. I think it was that toesnibbler guy. It was definitely a foot fetish guy, I remember. Some foot fetish guys are a bit particular. I've known a few of them that want nothing to do with you if your toenails aren't painted. But this dude on MFC was straight up arguing with me about how I need to paint my wall a different color. Before I banned him I was like "Um...there's a hot naked girl on your computer screen, and you're bitching about a wall color?!" LOL.

If you have the money and desire to redecorate, decorate for yourself. Create a room that you just *love* to be a sexy beast in. That'll translate into more money than trying to cater to any particular customers' fancies.

I pretty much only use party chat and the reason is I might decide to do a gold show (GS can only be done in party) and I don't feel like logging off and back on to switch from classic to party. The other difference is guys can't see what each other are saying in classic but that's really it

I tried to search for this, but didn't come up with anything. Are we allowed to read copyrighted material (like works of fiction) on cam? A couple custies in my room tonight said that they would pay me just to read a book (which blows my mind, because I HATE my voice). I have a lot of respect for writers and their intellectual property rights, but I think copyright law only addresses reproducing the work in print. I mean, it's not like Kindergarten teachers have to pay royalties when they read aloud to their class. But maybe if it's read for profit the rules are different? I also tried poking around the info on Literotica, but I couldn't find any info on this sort of thing.
Any thoughts?

I prefer classic all the way, but lately I have been using party chat, to do more goldshows. I don't really do goldshows, but using it as a private at discount. Some guys just want simple titty and chat or something like that but cannot afford 5.99 per min and I really need make something at least to improve my placement. So, I give them another option, 20 gold buy in for 5 min goldshow or 30 gold buy in for 10 min goldshow.

My experience is a big fat NO :( I used to use the encoder, did well, nice hourly. But like you I also have an older laptop (2 years) and when they changed the encoder requirements my laptop just couldn't handle it so I was forced to broadcast in HD high, no encoder. I went from the 4th-6th row page 1 to bottom of page two/top of page 3. My earnings dropped from $20-25/hour down to about $5/hour. Not even joking. I no longer cam on SM because of that.
My question: how many of you use Niteflirt, and do you recommend it? Anyone have a link to a NF tutorial of sorts? That sites always confused me so I never joined but I think it might be a nice egg to add to my basket, especially considering that I used to be a PSO (that's how I got started in the business). I know they say you should have a landline and I do, but do you think it'd be a problem if I registered my cell phone instead? It just think it might be easier to cam with a small cell to my ear than a big clunkly corded phone.
I just got approved today but haven't started on SM yet because I'm waiting for my cam to come in the mail but now I'm nervous the encoder won't work since my labtop is about 2 1/2 years old. I have a Sony Vaio E series

Same here... I got approved but haven't started yet because my laptop is not superpowerful and it's older than yours (it works perfectly for any other site, though) and my upload connection speed is a miserable 5 Mbps. When I watch the girls on SM everyone looks super professional with amazing streaming and perfect image. And all those stories about the troublesome encoder and the glitches and the site not working scare me to death. SM is the more intimidating site to me.

My laptop is 4 years old. I use the medium settings on the encoder and do fine. My placement improves when I stay consistent and get on more often. I stopped using SM as much for other reasons. But I do have a uber nice webcam, and super fast internet. My laptop just can't handle too many things at once, or anything too powerful! So, it is possible to do well with an old computer.

I have two questions about camming:
1. What are the names of the sites that have a phone option while you cam?
2. How much makeup should you wear on cam? I asked this because I was wondering if I should wear the same amount I would wear on stage or just should I wear my everyday makeup?

Magical_Hoohah, I might have an answer for you actually. I believe you can get away with reading almost anything but to be on the safe side...you should tried to find out what your customers want you to read in the meantime? I know this experience comes from me being a pso but one of my customers paid me to read "All quiet on the Western Front" because he had a WWI fetish. Just find out what kind of stuff they wants you to read? Do they want erotica? romance? or just hardcore perverse stuff. You could read all of the older classics such as "The story of O", "Venus in Furs", "The Perfumed Garden" or even the Karma Sutra. You can even read about sex magick :) I hope this helps a bit?

I just started dating someone new who knows I have a vanilla job, but I haven't told him about camming yet. This is the first time I've encountered the whole dating/camming thing, I started while I was in my previous relationship so of course we talked about it and he was with me from the beginning. This new one is sticky because only 3 people know I cam, I would really prefer to keep it quiet-ish and me and this boy share alot of mutual friends. I'm already having trouble coming up with excuses for how I afford things and why I don't check my phone for extended periods of time as well as my weird availability/hourly sitch. Any advice please please PLEASE.
Edit for clarification: I don't even know if it's gonna get serious enough or whatever to where I feel it's a 'NEED-TO-KNOW' thing, but I also don't wanna wait too long and then make some bullshit big reveal thus coming off as shadey, if that makes sense? I'm super overthinking this.

Early in a relationship like this, he doesn't need to know anything. When I was a young whippersnapper, it was normal not to talk to a new boyfriend for a day or two at a time with a regular phone. Your unavailability and mystery should keep him hooked. Just take your time to feel him out, like try to gauge his attitude towards sex workers or women in general. If he throws around the word slut or whore a lot, he's probably not for you. If he's at least sympathetic or pragmatic about sex work, he's should be ok.
