I made a thread about it, but how long do you ladies flash for? How long are your goal shows usually?

Honestly, depends how I feel! I charge more for a pussy flash because they get a quick play flash in there. If it's one of my regulars or a guy who has been tipping a bunch, the flashes get a bit longer. My goalshows are on MFC, my cumshows usually last...5ish minutes? But to get there we've hit topless, and usually nude as well, so I have kept myself pretty ramped up, and I just go quick and dirty to cum. It really depends!

So girls, I'm SURE there's a thread about this somewhere but I'm unsure what even to put in as keywords so if y'all could direct me, that'd be great:

I'm having the HARDEST time checking the paid chat box in SM (but I'm sure this is applicable to other sites) while in a show. The little bing bongs are distracting, so I don't know if there's a request coming in (excl.) or if people are popping in and out (priv.) and I know I should be checking just in case there are minute men being cheapskates.

Just angle wise, and being able to see the screen or not having to turn around if I'm doing, say, a doggy position with ass to cam. Do you just move the cam to the other side of the bed? But then they can see your screen, neh? I dislike moving my cam at all but I can do it if the name of the game is watching the screen at all times. As it is, I have to either ignore the chimes completely and run the risk of having freeloaders or check them constantly and consequentially disrupting what I'm doing ALL. THE. FUCKING. TIME.

How do you deal with this? Magnify the chat and move the cam? Ignore? Is there a goddamned middle ground?

What do you say when customers ask you if you have a "real" job? Do you just tell them you're a fulltime cam model? I'm never really sure how to answer this question.

Depending on my mood and if I'm offended, I tell them that cam is the only job I need or I'll simply tell them that I do all kinds of stuff on the web, from graphic design to marketing. The latter just sounds more interesting lol.

@pinkpink I have no idea what happened with the chat. To me, it stopped working about 2 weeks ago.

Question time: If I offer this

* Pretty good shows

Is it justifiable to charge 4.99 a min private on Streamate or other sites? Consider I'm transgender, so...

What do you say when customers ask you if you have a "real" job?

That question coming out of their mouths is offensive because this is your job. Guys who ask questions like that...I'd assume they're not very good spenders or just freeloaders. They should rephrase that idiotic question by asking if you have another job outside of the home...not that it's any of their business. And if you do answer that question with a yes, keep your response vague. You obviously will not be telling these guys the name of the company you work for or anything like that.

My camera isn't a part of my computer, so I move the camera itself behind me. If your camera is attached to your computer, I'd say it depends on where you're seated. You could angle the screen down at the floor or bed and get on all fours. If you're using a laptop with a built in webcam, I'd suggest putting it above where you're sitting and angling it down at yourself. That way, requests like that are easier to take. It might be a good investment to get a wired cam.

Can I post my amazon wish list and twitter link on imlive?? Is that allowed,?

KarinaGiselle
10-09-2014, 07:59 AM
No. What you might be able to getaway from, however, is to use a watermark like, say, @"twitter username". For example @HotMama and say something like "Follow me!" then point to the Twitter username.

I don't know how "crossing the line" that would be, though. So please, proceed with caution.

Guys, there's tons of great, interesting personal blogs about sex work, but most of them regard escorting. I keep on looking for a good, regularly-updated blog of the personal/daily/anecdotal experience of a camgirl, but I find none. Anybody know of one?

Hey guys! Quick question. I emailed Vanessa about signing onto SM a few days ago, haven't heard back yet but I got to thinking about it and was I suppose to fill out the application on SM first and then email her? I couldn't find anything on if I was suppose to or not. Thanks :)

For those of you who are on SM and have a C4S site, do you have a twitter for each one? I have a twitter that I set up for my C4S page that I was considering using to set up a ModelCentro page, but I don't know if SM would have a problem with that either. SM is my main source of income, and I am so afraid of pissing them off :(

I have a problem with scheduling. I know that the best way to build up a good fan base, as well as reliable income from regulars, you need a slightly regular schedule. Problem is, my day job is shift work and the schedule is completely different every week, and though I can say that I'm only available at certain times, I can't block off as much time in work as is needed for my camming. What would be the best way to work around this? Should I take one or two specific days off in the week and say I'll hopefully be on sometime in the other days, or should I make a new schedule every two weeks and put it on my twitter?

ok so is it like one week its all days and one week its all night or is it all crazy and random? i think the best thing to do would be to try and make a set daytime shift and a set nighttime shift. as long as ur on at the same times in the day on the days u are on it will be good. You need to let them miss you a little bit so work that in ur favor and if they ask tell them u have another job and thats why ur not always on at the same time everyday it will give u cred they like to know u have a life outside cam sometimes and another way to make money. it really shows ur not desperate on there trying to make ur way in life with their dimes if they know u have a vanilla job

Ok, thanks! I mostly have day shifts, so that actually won't be too hard to plan around. The problem I'm facing now is that I share an apartment with two people and a room with one of them, so I've been trying to find hours that I don't have to kick him out of the place. I'm getting my own place in the next month, so I should be able to put up a schedule then. Thanks for the help!

I currently have Comcast Cable Internet and while usually I get awesome speeds with the package I have (120mbps download - 12mbps upload) just about every day my upload speeds (Yes, JUST my upload speed...download stays the same and is fine) randomly drop to the point where I can't stream (usually between .80-1.50mbps). It's becoming so awful that sometimes there will be 5 or 6 hours where I would normally cam but can't because my internet is acting up. Yes, I've called Comcast AND had several techs to my house. Because my speeds are fine most of the time it's hard for them to catch when they are dropping. I'm pretty positive they are fucking with me or the outside lines are just shit. It makes no sense!!

So my issue is, I want to upgrade to business class in hopes that my speeds will be more consistent. I don't mind paying the extra money if I'm getting the speeds I'm paying for. How many of you have business class and what "business name" do you give for the application? Does anyone have any experience with Comcast Business? Any help would be amazing! I'm ready to pull my hair out at this point. I'm losing so much money not being able to work!

So I had this same problem with TWC. We thought it was the router and complained over and over. The technician came over and I (who was the one who called and knew more about the issue) wasn't there so my flatmate was like, "Pshh I dunno what the problem is, fix it. It's your job." Then he just left the room and turned on cartoons while had a cigarette and a mimosa. (I know. He's can be a brat sometimes but I love him. Also I'm pretty sure he was in that weird zone between hungover and still drunk.) This technician was like, uhhh okay, and gave us a crazy expensive modem that operates on magic. For free.

We still only pay ~$46/month and my average download speed is 8 or 9/mbps. Speedtest: 20mbps up/52mbps down.

I know I dont have Comcast but no hurt in trying this hustle.

Thank you :) I've already had my modem replaced, as well as all of the cables in my house. I have the newest modem they offer, so it's not that. If I got the speeds I normally get ALL the time without them randomly dropping, I'd be fine! I just don't get why the upload will drop so ridiculously slow while my download stays up! Your upload speeds are incredible btw lol.

Mrrppp... In that case, how long have you been with Comcast and do you have one of the other providers available in your area? After about a year, they just stop providing the same level of service even if you haven't changed anything. My parents have had FiOS for a year and my brother tells me almost exactly at the one year mark it started having a lot of problems, half the speed, etc. He works with tech servers and says this is generally standard practice. If you don't have a contract, you could consider changing?

Well, we've had this Comcast account for over 5 years...but I've been with them even longer than that. We moved in March and kept Comcast, but the service is so much worse since we moved into town. Didn't have these problems when we lived farther back in the country. There are no other internet providers around here that offer the speeds that Comcast offers. So they pretty much have the market cornered in my area and there's nothing we can do about it. That's why I was considering an upgrade to Business...hoping it would be more steady and there are no Data Caps in case that's what they're doing.

Ahh... in that case, I'd throw on a little makeup and go to the nearest local business that is sure to rely on good internet to thrive. A casually struck, friendly chat with whoever you can and BAM! you have yourself the most honest review of your area's business account. But then again I use any excuse to get out of The Ho Cave. :)

I asked here before, but never got an answer so, I might as well ask again.

If I offer this

* HD video streaming (at 720p at least) without lag
* Hi quality audio
* Great lighting
* Pretty good shows

Is it justifiable to charge 4.99 a min private on Streamate or other sites? Consider I'm transgender, so perhaps the niche thing might be an issue... Still, I'm open to opinions and suggestions.

^Simple answer. Yes!! Charge whatever you want to charge! Try it for a week or two and if it's not paying out the way you'd like, adjust the price and continue. That's what we all have to do til we find our sweet spot.

4.99 is very reasonable for SM. Some sites tend to have cheaper guys (I'm looking at you IML! 3.80 was the most I could make money with on there) but on SM guys are used to paying that much and more. Having a niche makes you more valuable, not less!

Well, I've been back and forth, in and out and all over threads on this site and others yet I can't really figure out a solution to my problem. I really feel like camming might be the perfect job for me and would love to start getting things set up and worked out. Except I live in federal public housing. This requires me to show proof of any income every 6 months. As it is I don't think they'd be able to figure out what exactly what my job is from what people say about SM and how payment from them will look on documents. It's the whole location of my job that may be a problem. It's against many housing policies to work from home. Any ideas how I can work around this?

ugh. okay so whenever I open the encoder, it opens my built in cam and when I change it to the logitech c920, the blue light on the cam comes on then goes off and the encoder just closes. the cam shows up without the encoder but the quality isn't good at all. I've uninstalled/reinstalled the encoder and the cam and its still doing it. so frustrating . any suggestions? it's been working fun for about 2 months, and now all of a sudden it's not.

So I couldn't find anything about this on SW or Google relating specifically to cam girls. I checked the site, and industry verification for the MAC pro program requires a contract or professional website. I'm not sure either would work, as on SM etc. you're a contractor, not an employee, and for the website, your real name isn't on there. Has anyone actually managed to get a MAC pro account?

What did you use for verification?

If you live in public housing, read your housing agreement very, very, very carefully. Also look up any and all laws about public housing in your country. If you break their rules, you could find yourself ineligible for public housing, which could be a huge honking problem. I'd say do that part FIRST, because there is no point in figuring out the best way to get paid for proof of income if working out of your house could get you evicted and permanently banned.

OMG I wish I was eligible for this! I love MAC lipsticks and eyeshadows. Is there some kind of makeup artist union you could join? That plus a certification seems it would work, or do a friend's makeup for their wedding or something but draw up a formal contract as proof.

I have been looking EVERYWHERE on this forum and I cannot find a thread suggesting what to charge for flashes or striptease, take top off, etc in free chat.

What can I do in free chat to make money without selling myself short???
And like I said, what should I charge for these things?!?!? This is my most important question!!!

What can I do to keep people in my room entertained until I go private, or make them want to go private?

I am starting my camming this morning for the first time and I am totally lost. Right now I only work on SM.

Oh, and can I get daily pay when working for SM??? I've heard girls saying that they get daily pay, but I can't see an option for it.... I'm confused!!! I'd love to get paid daily instead of bi-weekly!!

What sites pay daily anyways?!?

Thanks in advance!!

1. I charge $5 for flashes but probably should charge more
2. Honestly in my experience 95% of the guys who take you private do it right away when they pop into your room and you need not entertained them at all. I just greet them, answer how are you or ask it myself and if they keep bullshitting around I prompt them to take me private and stop giving them attention.
3. For dailypay you need to register trough a studio

I don't have a tip chart anymore, only because I don't like to give freeloaders anything. Guys usually tip without asking, and if I'm comfortable standing that's all I'll do. I never do anything nude in free chat. Not worth it.
Most big spenders take me exclusive right away, and some don't even say hello.
Those are my favorite custies!

I guess I'm gonna be reviving this thread with a newbie question... :) I'm having a hard time choosing a cam persona. I don't know if I want to be sweet or more mature (I have a very high-pitched voice). I think I'd make bank better if I chose the sweet/kawaii approach because I'm Asian, have high-pitched voice, looks innocent and I'm geeky too (but not a gamer), this is the closest thing to my real personality. However, I'd also want to go for the more mature, sexier persona.

I was also wondering if you ladies picked your persona based on custies you want to appeal to? I'm just worried if I picked the young, sweet persona, I'll be flooded with older gentlemen (or maybe the pedos), I wouldn't know what to talk about (although I probably could just talk dirty, which, in this case, would probably gear more towards the more mature one). I think I'll relate and connect best with fellow geeky and younger gents. I know I'll never know till I try and experiment what works but I just want to hear your opinions and your experiences about this. Thank you! :D

I kind of do both (I'm still in my twenties). I learned just being myself is the best for me. I'm relaxed no nonsense lady who is really in touch with her sexuality and isn't afraid to share it. You can try some trial periods on personas to see what works best with you.

Also thanks for resurrecting this thread, I've been meaning to bump it because of all the newbie threads that can be easily answered in one or two posts (there is nothing wrong with being a newbie)

No, thank you for answering! I was concerned whether there'd be anyone to answer my question at all, being this thread has been abandoned since December :o Anyway, the thing is, I tried being myself last time. I had a FEW custies who liked me and tipped me here and there but I made no bank at all. I knew my traffic for the first week of camming was low because I didn't have good lighting, only using my built-in laptop webcam, wore regular clothes (I was going for "non-nude but will flash", girl-next-door look), no make up, no shows and have boring wall. I was only gonna try and do it for fun anyway. But now, I really wanna make it work and I'm really planning the shh out of it, LOL. My webcam is on the way, I'm planning my games but recently got stuck with what my cam persona should be. I only have limited budget so I'm trying to plan my expenses according to the cam persona I will choose. I mean like I want to pimp my room and maybe buy at least one cheap, decent lingerie. Anything to help my place look interesting. :) And also, that's what I'm gonna do, try on the no-nonsense, genuine and sweet persona which is the closest to my real personality. And if that doesn't work, I'll just keep trying different ones. Thanks, Audritwo! :D

See, this is what I meant! I got the impression, from observing cam sites, that it's mostly you (alt?) ladies are mostly the ones who make bank :D You guys look badass and sexy. I'm not saying we innocent-looking ones don't make bank, I know some girls do fine with it... this is just based from my observation. :)

There are rich guys with all kinds of taste.You'll find ones who adore you, it just takes time. Right now, I make a G a week doing shows for indie guys I've known an average of six years. Don't even use the free chat sites often. Given my age and look, I tend to get guys my age or younger who want to be taught, as well as older guys bored by their vanilla wives/gfs.

^^ That's nice! I'm thinking of going indie as well, in the future though. I'm still trying to get the feel of camming. Thank you, I will keep this in mind! :D

I'm pretty new too, PoppyMermaid - & I'm taking the approach of starting with something I'm comfortable with, and tweaking it as I go. Like you, these are kind of sexed-up, exaggerated versions of myself with the idea of being able to create my own brand/niche: alterna-gothy (I have pink hair & tatts)? Cutesy pink bouncy/manic pixie dreamgirl? Sarcastic, secretly-submissive grad student? Who knows - If I came up with a whole persona first, I'd never get started! I'm focusing on clips4sale atm (my first stab at live camming was a bit of a bust, too, but I'm going to give it another go), and I'm trying out different combinations of character/fetishes to see what sells (picking fetishes is a whole 'nother problem). But I'd love to hear how others have approached this!

Lol, we're on exactly the same page CallyCake! I am also working on my c4s store at the moment. I'm waiting on my wig and make up that I ordered online to "polish" my look before going back to camming/making clips. I already made clips and sold some but I wanted to change my look and start over with a new persona. You're right! I think I'm kind of a perfectionist. I learned that perfectionists tend to hold off their plans until we're absolutely sure of something or if the plan is absolutely perfect. I'm trying to get over this perfectionism (is that a word?). So yeah, that's true, if we keep getting stuck on what we want as a persona then we'll never get started! So, I've decided that I'd go with the cutesy, pink, sweet persona :D

I feel like I'm doing something wrong because the majority of my shows are 2-3 minutes long. They just log off.
