Thank you girls for sharing the stories and tips!!! I am 28 and I too am kinda worrying about future. I try to think positive for me and my husband. :) I hold a vanilla job and that is killing my back and I make two weeks of work pay in only a week from camming. I am trying to find something else to do at home for second income source. Maybe screen printing as a side? I need to be very serious about my future and my financial due to my back problems. I need to use my advantage of having a house with no mortgage and another house going to be in my name later on. I guess I can try and purchase a couple proprieties for rental purposes in few years if I manage to pay off my financial mess (mostly hospital debts). I am so lucky to have a very supportive husband and we are going to try work something out for us. :)

Wow.. So many ladies 24 - 26 and terrified. :( I am 25 myself (soon to turn 26) and not worrying.. and.. lol, I haven't even started saving yet!

I am pretty confident in how long this biz will last (as in: I don't believe that "contactless" sex work (like camming, vid / pic selling / custom material, sex phone lines, etc) will ever die. If they do, certainly not in my lifetime) and I believe in the staying power of any performer so long as she knows her niches.

Look out for your health, your mindset, and your work ethic, and you easily, *easily* be 50+ and rock this industry.

But yeah..
Saving is an awesome idea.
Investing is also an awesome idea.. {*high fives all the property buying ladies!* < I wanna be you someday soon!}
Looking after yourself is an awesome idea, as BlondebombGA detailed.

^ Agreed! I'm 26, soon to be 27 :( and reading this thread, I'm like "Am I not scared enough?" lol. I'm not worried about camming's future at all, but now I feel like I should be? I didn't even start taking camming seriously until just recently, and haven't saved a dime. I kinda think along the lines of "there will never be a shortage of horny guys wanting to jerk off to pretty women". If the industry changes, then it changes- gotta roll with the punches. :) If the next big thing becomes avatar-sex on a place like SL, then I'll freakin' learn how to make an avatar give a bj. :P hahahaha!

It's really not a case of IF there will be demand for older women, it's more of a case of "Will You even FEEL like camming, or being in the adult biz?"
I'm older, with a very bad back, and sadly, early menopause, so I can tell You Younger gals to PLEASE SAVE and invest.
When I was young, and dancing, I always thought that the gravy train would never end, and I would always be up for working long hours, with lots of energy, but, sadly It's not the caase. Now if I cam for 2 hours, it's a stretch, and I just want to stop, and rest.
Since my corporate job investments are worth not much now, because of the economy, I URGE You to think ahead.
Even if You watch older models working with a smile on their faces, I can tell when I look into their eyes, that they want to just shutdown their computer, and relax.
Hopefully You will be the exception to the rule, and be an energizer bunny, plow through menopause like it's no big deal, and ...
However, do You really want to take that chance?
I agree with buying Your home now, and another for passive income. I had 2 friends in dancing that did that, as the rest of us laughed at how they NEVER spent money on clothes, going out, etc.
Now they are both are retired, and living well. well enough so they don't ever have to work again. who has the last laugh now?
Just my 2 cents.

Great advice GM! I'm just finally understanding how money should work and I'm an entrepreneur at heart so I need to learn these things NOW. I think we as a society are so desperate to just throw it all away or live beyond our means. Now, I will say that splurging (if you can afford to) isn't a bad thing, but millionaires and billionaires don't get that way by constantly spending. They always invest and constantly try and figure out how to grow their money. I read somewhere that a poor or struggling woman looks at money as surviving the day. A middle class woman looks to money to survive for the month, and a wealthy woman looks to survive for the upcoming year(s). As much as I love adult work, when I'm older I want to prop my feet up and rest assured that the money I made while I was young has been invested and has quadrupled over time. I also want to let it be known that I started making money in the adult business. Maybe I'll even write a book. I really want to die wealthy and leave some start up money for my future possible offspring. I know that it's not going to get that way if I don't save and have to be laced in the latest fashions all the time.

^^Ahh, VERY wise Kortney! I'm so proud of You to realize how the financial world works.
It's so alluring to live beyond one's means, and to have lots of fun with the money You're spending.. However, the end result is not pretty at all.
It's difficult to see all the "REALITY" shows about the extreme wealthy buying things, and watching it on a daily basis.Sadly most people want to live like this. I DID at one time, and I want to again, because it felt sooo good! It just isn't realistic now though.
Thanks for listening. Glam

I agree with so much of what you said except for this. The smile on my face was about a thousand times more forced at my soul-sucking corporate job because it made me dead inside.

When y'all see my more mature model face smiling in chat, it's for real. :)

Same here. I'm not good at faking being happy. Thankfully, I really enjoy it. I hated my vanilla jobs so much, for me camming is a breath of fresh air. I do have to limit myself though because I also have a bad back.

I'm just so happy to see everyone chiming in here. I am 42, and there's no question I see a demand for 40 & 50-something ladies. And 60-something has lots to offer. My shows are usually younger guys and many are so, so hot. Wowie! hee hee

Hopefully we can continue to save, move somewhere in the middle of the US, and live out our life peacefully on a little farm. That's how I predict our future to be. I don't like the idea of investing because the only companies I trust wouldn't grant huge returns if any. School just ain't my bag either. I'm a little worried that ebay, etsy, and other places online will be so flooded that it will be damn hard to sell things handmade, vintage, or used. Crossing that bridge when it comes. If we can find some uncontaminated land in a nice place where no one exists for 20 minutes in every direction and not be super pressed for money, I'll be happy. Then again, I'm only 20. Who knows what the future holds.

I'm staying in this industry until I drop dead.

You and me, bb! Let the naysayers say what they want. You and I will both be old and grey, counting our money while rocking in our rocking chairs and laughing at all the lame ways guys still try to scam us.

As far as the Ebay thing....
Im scared it will become a little overcrowded too... I use it for "side" money and flip items through amazon but its enough to pay my bills for now. I think that the problem with ebay/etsy is one area will be empty with tons of profit to be made then everyone will realize and swarm to it like flies, you just have to try to stay ahead of the curve, bank when you do keep searching when you don't.

But for me.... I'm in camming for the long haul.
I figure as long as I stay above a certain $ point (which I know I can maintain) then its far better than any vanilla job, because while I do have to pay a crap-load of taxes I don't have to waste money on "office essentials"...you know lunch out everyday, a nice car to keep up with everyone, expensive clothes I would only wear to work,.....that stuff adds up even if you have a cushy office job making $65k/year plus just isn't inline with the life I want to lead.
